Week one all but done. So it's time to hand out some superlatives. Joe Musso alongside Bryant McFadden here to talk about those bookends. Let's start on the positive side of the ledger. Your biggest winner out of week one is who. Dallas Cowboys the Dallas Cowboys. Well I could say Dak Prescott because he received a handsome ransom right before the ball game with his new contract. But I'm going with the Dallas Cowboys and here's why. A very very intriguing matchup. Week one for them traveling to Cleveland. The Browns a playoff caliber team based on what they did a year ago. And knowing that they're healthy. Well, they walked into the dog pound and they took all the dog bones. An impressive win for the Dallas Cowboys 33 to 17 33 to 17. And the thing I like about this win, they did so with defense, defense, defense. Many thought the Browns would have the best defense on the football field, but it was the Dallas Cowboys six sacks, two interceptions, one special teams touchdown. The Browns in totality as a team, only had 137 yards passing. I mean, they did a great job in neutralizing the Browns offensively. And then of course Dak Prescott. He made his timely plays. And oh by the way we had an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown in that one five. He's back to that number 15 that he wore at college at Ohio State. Everything was working and clicking on all cylinders for the Dallas Cowboys. And because of their victory against a playoff caliber team, especially from what we saw in 2023 with the Cleveland Browns, I'm rocking with the Dallas Cowboys as my biggest winner. It won't be long until Zeke's popping out of that Salvation Army tub again. We'll see if he's eaten. I want to go there for a second, because that's one of the questions out in front of this team that maybe hasn't been answered, and we're not going to get it answered until we have a larger sample size. But from the rushing standpoint, just north of 100 yards balance, a concern as we move forward. I mean, we're always looking for the teach tape, even on our winners here. What are the things that you're looking to clean up for the Cowboys? I want to see them run the football more effectively. Ezekiel Elliott averaged around four yards per pop, but he didn't see a lot when it came to the opportunities. Luckily enough for the Cowboys offensively. I mean they didn't need to do a lot. Their defense put them in great field position to score and then special teams wise as well, was doing a nice job in either scoring touchdowns or giving them great field position also. So when you look at the offense, yes, they put up 33 points, but it wasn't like it was a high volume day offensively for Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott didn't even throw for 200 yards. You know what I mean. He just did the bare minimum. But that was enough in today's matchup. And that's why I'm really high on the Dallas Cowboys and be my week one winner. Because you scored 33 points. Your all pro like quarterback didn't do a lot. CeeDee lamb made some timely plays. Your running game. You didn't need to rely on it at all. And you still put up 30 plus points on the scoreboard against a playoff caliber team. Yes, they didn't look like it today, but when you talk about the Cleveland Browns and their aspirations, they have playoff aspirations and I believe they will get it right. But they didn't get it right in week one. You got Dak and CD now locked up through 2028. So that one two punch going to be there. Saints and Ravens at home next for Dallas. So that Ravens game there in big D going to be a telling point as we try and figure out who's who and what's what. We only got one week worth of it. But there is a week one loser as well. Where does that take us? Got to go down to Hotlanta, Atlanta, Atlanta. There are my biggest loser because they lost to a team at home that did not score a touchdown. Any time your defense hold the opposing offense to field goals, you would think, especially at home, you will you would find a way to win that ball game. Unfortunately for the Atlanta Falcons, they found a way to lose the ball game. One team is smiling from ear to ear and the Pittsburgh Steelers and the other team has their face over a toilet because they're so disappointed and heartbroken. Based on what happened. And also too, when you factor in the Atlanta Falcons, one of the main reasons outside of them losing a winnable game today against the Pittsburgh Steelers and why they're my biggest loser next week, Monday night Philly. Yeah. After the Eagles game. Pat Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs if you're not careful you could become an zero and three team in your first three outings. And after that, Kansas City game, you get into your division, play against the New Orleans Saints, who look really, really good today against Carolina. Not really surprised, but we know how that matchup is when it comes to Atlanta in the New Orleans Saints. So when you talk about having a winnable game right there in your hands and you just squandered it away and then you're playing against two elite like teams in the next few weeks. Coming up one on the road, one at home who you don't want to start or in three. I don't know what the number says for teams that start zero and three when it comes to making the playoffs, but I know that's a big time hurdle to get over. If that becomes the case for the Falcons, the likelihood it goes through the cellar floor. Matter of fact, good portion of our recent Super Bowl champs have been winners in week one last year. A departure from that with Kansas City losing to Detroit on opening night. But you got to get off to a start or you're going to be playing uphill. Could be the case for these Atlanta Falcons. Just two of nine on third down. We've given out a winner. We've given out a loser. We don't want to be too hard on the young guys, but we do want to assess who gets your game ball for lack of a better term here. From the rookie quarterbacks who went out there and took their opportunity to the best in your eyes. Well, we saw three rookies perform today in terms of starting. Only one rookie was a part of a winning team and that's Caleb Williams. Now individually speaking, he didn't really do a lot right. You can tell he was kind of pressing. He looked like a rookie in moments of this ball game. But he kept his team within reach of winning a ball game. You didn't you didn't see any turnovers. He protected the football. Yes. When you look at his numbers, pedestrian like numbers. But he protected the football, his defense, his special teams did what they were supposed to do in regards to helping the young fella keep things in coordinates and guess what? They won the ball game and they fought from behind. The Tennessee Titans had control of that ball game for at least 75% of the time on the clock, and then when the moments kicked in, the bears showed up as I stated, he didn't really blow you away with his numbers. Pedestrian like numbers, not even 100 yards. Throwing the football. Look at his passer rating. He didn't throw any touchdowns. He didn't have any. He didn't have any turnovers. That's that's a plus. No turnovers. But just being a part of that winning team he gets the winning ball. You know what we call that that's a that's a DST win in Chicago. There's plenty of them. Defense special teams has been the way that they're counting on Caleb Williams changing better though. And it looked like there were some flashes there. Some of the out routes on time Keenan Allen A dropped pass in the end zone would have been the first touchdown of his career. Wouldn't have inflated the numbers to the places that you're going to want them, but as you're looking at all three of these rookie quarterbacks, what are the signs of maturation that you want to see over this first quarter of the season? That lets you know you might be working with the future of a franchise? Let's start with Caleb Williams. First, I don't need Caleb to try to get to that USC Caleb, when he needed to win ball games, we kind of saw Caleb pressing a little bit today against the Tennessee Titans in this situation with the bears, you don't need to do that. You have serviceable guys that are surrounding you with a lot of experience, that if you get the ball in their hands, they're going to make things happen. So don't press. You don't need to go out and play hero like football. When you look at all the outstanding guys that are surrounding you for Jayden Daniels, listen, he is going to be a problem when he's floating and he's running with the football. He reminds me of number eight that that rocks the Ravens uniform in Lamar Jackson a very, very smooth runner. He makes it look so easy. And it's annoying because most people can't get their hands on him. But I would love to see him take more control of the huddle, you know what I mean? Or being the ultimate point guard for their offense, he was the best quarterback. Of course, he was the only quarterback, but he was also their best runner. He led the team in rushing. But when he gets into the red zone, you got to find a way to capitalize on red zone opportunities. And that's what I mean when I talk about controlling the huddle, orchestrating things in the red area, great quarterbacks find a way to score points, average quarterback, settle for field goals, and then lastly for me, Bo Nix, when you look at Bo Nix, a very, very difficult opportunity for Bo Nix going to Seattle a very very tough place to play for most veteran quarterbacks. They got after him two costly interceptions. Wasn't seeing the football field well he needs to be better in that regard. But in the fourth quarter he was battle tested. He calmed things down big time scoring touchdown on via the legs of Bo Nix and I love seeing Bo Nix. He got off to a rocky start. Faced some adversity, came to the sideline, had a moussi moment and he had the Broncos within one possession of winning that ballgame. That's growth. We got our first Moussa of the day. I feel like you're going Musso soon. It should. Musso. Musso. It's a woosah woosah. What did I say? Moussa? I like Moussa because. Musso. You've been hanging with me too long. That's a winner, a loser and aouple no
