all on the same ebike third it's traffic and weather together we've got West westbound lane or sorry eastbound Lanes of 2011 close between Redwood Road and I-15 and we've got a little bit of delay right now as you switch from I80 onto southbound 215 over by the mouth of parley's Canyon I'm Andy farnworth in the KSL traffic center thanks to a shallow Cool Front we could be a little bit Breezy today but smoke fills in tomorrow I'm Matt Johnson right now 66 degrees at the KSL common Spirit Health Studios and time for a look at our top National stories from ABC News I'm Sherry Preston former president president Donald Trump now charged in a superseding indictment in the federal election subversion case special Council Jack Smith filing the new streamline charges so that they comply with the Supreme Court ruling granting wide immunity for what presidents do while in office with the election only 70 days away here's ABC chief justice correspondent Pier Thomas the new indictment removes any mention of Trump's alleged behavior that prosecutors believe could be considered official acts for example it no longer describes Trump's alleged effort to enlist Justice Department officials to subvert the election and it no longer details how multiple Federal officials including the Director of National Intelligence told Trump his claims of election fraud were false what Smith has done instead is focus on Trump as the leader of his campaign highlighting he was not acting in His official role as president but in his capacity as a candidate for office Israeli forces have been carrying out raids not in Gaza in the occupied West Bank at least nine Palestinians were killed overnight as IDF troops sealed off the city of Janine where Israel believes militants are hiding a new Surgeon General report out today focuses on the mental health of parents moms and dads are worried about a lot these days Surgeon General VC murthy's report citing common parental stressors like Financial strain worries about children's health and safety technology and social media and time demands saying all of these combined are contributing to the Nationwide epidemic of loneliness and isolation ABC's aial rashev the report says loneliness has become a real concern especially for single parents in the Northeast they are spraying for mosquitoes and telling people to stay inside in the evening hours because of a rise in mosquito born illnesses in New Hampshire a man died after Contracting Triple E the abbreviation for Eastern equin and sephtis that line of extremely hot weather moving from the Midwest into the East today this is ABC News Health officials are finding rumors and myths about empo as the illness spreads across several countries ABC News correspondent Jim Ryan joins us live where what are the rumors that are going around Jim well it sounds pretty familiar and it should the the the claim that this somehow is caused by a vaccine that is caused by the vaccine uh that sounds sort of like Co in fact some online are saying that that there is a link between aox and shingles and or aox and the covid vaccine Health officials say neither of those cases is true that it's completely unrelated to shingles that it say pox vaccine it's aox as opposed to being a shingles uh that empo does not just affect only gay men that's one of the other rumors going online that it's strictly a gay men's disease sounds like AIDS back in the 1980s and claims that there is a Mira miracle cure that's being withheld that the Japanese have come up with uh there is a drug the Japanese have but it's used for breathing difficulty not for empo what are they suggesting we do to protect ourselves if anything well you can get a vaccination there are two there's two different strains of this illness going on going around right now the more serious one is the one that is striking people in Africa it's called Cay one uh that about 10% of the people who get sick end up dying the one that's making its way around the United States at least at this point is much less severe more than 99.9% of people survive it and you can get a vaccine for that there was a vaccine clinic here in Texas the other day uh 30 40 people got the the shot against andox him who are Health officials recommending get this vaccine people who have close contact with animals because that's one way that it's passed they're asking that you avoid close contact with somebody physical contact with somebody who's been diagnosed with empo that's the other way and direct contact with contaminated materials is the third way that it's transmitted so avoiding something like that avoiding those places where people with empo have been may be the best way to avoid the illness itself meta and do they suggest just one particular place online to get uh the right information cdc.org or cdc.gov may be the best place it has good information about all of this stuff some of the European sites also uh france24.com has good information all right Jim thank you uh for that I know there's been a lot of stories a lot of rumors going around about it I've never understood what the motivation is for spreading uh Health misinformation it doesn't make money for anyone that I can tell so what's the what what about the or if it's just the old story around the campfire thing where you know little bits and pieces of the actual story kind of fall off as it get out over and over and over and over again maybe uh but Jim Ryan helping us out this morning we'll keep an eye on that story on the in-depth at 15 to 45 519 Now traffic and weather together brought to you by Sinclair's Dino pay app save up to 20 cents per gallon and back over to you Andy and right now if you're on I-15 Northbound Lanes look repairs every year but the estimated cost to rehabilitate a dam is $4.5 million each meaning it could take 122 years to get the job done most of the dams are privately owned so it's up to those owners to report any problems the dams are judged on criteria including the condition of the spillway whether there seepage the stability of the slope and the ability to withstand an earthquake the Utah Division of water rights is in charge of determining which dams need the most attention the mountain Li spotted roaming through Lehi the other day has not been caught and police are saying they're keeping they will keep the current traps out just in case the dwr told KSL the mountain line was likely just passing through but if there are additional signs it's hanging around they step up the Preston special Council Jack Smith filing a streamlined indictment against Donald Trump in the election interference case incursion into the Israeli occupied West Bank IDF forces moving in on the city of Janine where militants are believed to be hiding out at least nine Palestinians killed a new Surgeon General advisory on parenting and stress new data shows nearly half of all parents say most days their stress is overwhelming only about a quarter of adults without kids say that the White House holding a summit today for families of those who've died of drug overdoses this is ABC News and as you just heard former president Donald Trump being charged in a new indictment in his federal election interference case this one's different from the previous one ABC News National correspondent step pornoy joins us now live what's different about this one Stephen well what's different is what's not in it um look about nine pages worth of material has been have been removed from uh the former indictment which was handed up about a year ago this superseding indictment replaced is that it takes out specific references to Donald Trump as president of the United States instead refers to him as a candidate for president it takes out any references uh of steps that Trump allegedly took as president such as enlisting Justice Department officials in the effort it importantly removes any suggestion that he failed to act as president on January 6th to to stop the riers and uh the whole idea here is to respect the Supreme Court's holding in early July that a president of the United States or former president is entitled to at least the presumption of immunity for his official acts if not absolute immunity and one example of absolute immunity according to Chief Justice Roberts's opinion is any conversation that a president might have with his Justice Department officials that is be to be beyond the reach of prosecutors and so therefore Jack Smith removes it from this superseding indictment the big question is all right well what you know what is in it well what's in it is references to Trump Trump's alleged actions as a candidate his Communications with his campaign staff and even his running mate than former well the vi vice president Mike Pence but um it's carefully written to try to avoid the notion that it runs a foul of the Supreme Court's ruling why now are we to make anything of the timing of this because obviously it's not going to get resolved before the election a lot has been discussed about the fact that there is this existing justice department policy of not bringing charges against a candidate for office within 60 days of an election this was yesterday was 70 days before election day but uh this is a response from the special counsel in a pending matter to the Supreme Court's ruling in that matter that was initiated over a year ago and that comes less than two months after the Supreme Court had issued its ruling and a week before a status Hearing in that pending case where they were going to go through the old indictment to try to see what stays and what goes well this is a r revised indictment that is meant to be in keeping with the Supreme Court's ruling uh one argument is that perhaps Jack Smith could and should have waited until after the election uh but that status hearing was already scheduled for next week this is a pending matter and uh I suppose one thing that justice department would say is we didn't set this timetable the Supreme Court had the opportunity we asked the Supreme Court to rule on this sooner they chose not to we didn't get the ruling until July 1st and here it is August 27th yesterday that's when they dropped the super in indictment fascinating Stephen thank you for helping us understand that Steven pory ABC News National correspondent with us on the in-depth at 15 and 45 749 or excuse me 549 wishful thinking on my part uh it is 549 time for us to get a look at traffic and obstruct the certification of the electoral votes on January 6th and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one's vote counted but the charges are now only for what he allegedly did in his attend trade schools Johnson says Utah shortage is more apparent than in other parts of the country because of our current growth a proposed Bill aimed at addressing the kidney shortage could offer a $50,000 refundable tax credit to Good Samaritan donors nurse manager at the Inner Mountain transplant clinic Amy Herbert worries it's not enough of an incentive because the money would split between five years instead of a one-time payment she also thinks there is a chance that some transplant centers might not do proper screenings and after care just to get their numbers up I think that there has to be some sort of parameters put into place that um you know around that that they you know if that's the case then they they would have to have all these things done to assure that those patients are actually cared for throughout their lifetime and not just at that moment of donating a kidney others in the medical field say that the bill is targeted toward a specific ation so there is mom and dads are stressed I guess we don't need to tell them that do we ABC has a look at the story from ABC News I'm Sherry Preston for all you parents out there here's a question how stressed are you Surgeon General VC Murthy is out with a new report that shows things like Financial worries worries about their kids health and safety and social media are seriously Weighing on parents' minds they tend to focus on their kids health and well-being uh but there's also this sense of Shame and guilt sometimes around struggling as a parent nearly half of all parents say most days their stress is overwhelming compared to only about a quarter of adults without kids who say that loneliness is also a factor Health officials in the Northeast on alert after the death of a man from New Hampshire the illness he contracted known as the Triple E virus spread by mosquitoes ABC's Ariel rashev though human cases of Triple E virus are very uncommon they can be fatal the CDC says about 30% of people who have brain inflammation from this virus will die there is no vaccine or treatment for this there have been at least four other human cases confirmed in the US this year so far with roughly a dozen communities in Massachusetts alone at an elevated risk also on the rise cases of West Nile Virus also spread by mosquitoes with the president IAL election less than 70 days away a new indictment has been filed against Donald Trump this one streamlined to fit certain criteria following the Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity here's ABC chief justice correspondent Pierre Thomas Smith went back to the drawing board now Prosecuting Trump for what he allegedly did in his role as a candidate not as president of the United States the new indictment charges Trump with the same four crimes including conspiracy to Def frud the United States to obstruct the certific ation of the electoral votes on January 6th and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one's vote counted incursion in the Israeli occupied West Bank IDF forces moving in on the city of chanine at least nine Palestinians killed you're listening to ABC News let's go in depth here the Harris campaign is in Georgia today to kick off their Labor Day Blitz where they will hit a series of events in every Battleground State joining us live is ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers and I guess they're going to sit down for a television interview as well Karen yeah they are they're sitting down for an interview with CNN today that will Air tomorrow night this is the first interview that Harris has done since becoming the Democratic nominees the president dropped his bid for a second term and endorsed her back on July 21st Georgia is an interesting State isn't it because it hasn't gone blue for a presidential candidate anyway in 30 plus years I think the last time was Bill Clinton well President Biden of course won it back in 2020 by fewer than 12,000 votes so it was very close back then but he was the first Democrat to win it since 1992 so it's a very critical Battleground state right now and it's more in play now than it was a month and a half ago uh the polls have tightened there in Georgia since Harris took over the Democratic ticket the 538 polling average those are our partners at 538 they still have Donald Trump up by6 percentage points so it's very tight but Democrats feel that this is an opportunity for them they are feeling energized about this so much so that they're ing resources into it they say that they have the largest Democratic operation ever in that state because remember back in 2020 it kind of snuck up on people that Georgia became that Battleground State and then the president winning it in such a squeaker they have 24 offices right now nearly 200 200 full-time staffers and they say they had 35,000 volunteers signed up to do the on the ground work today though interestingly she is campaigning in Southeast Georgia a rural part of the state for this bus tour not Atlanta which is where Democrats would typically try to run up their votes uh but this is a big deal for her to be out there today on this bus tour with her vice presidential running maage we'll watch your coverage and appreciate you Karen Karen Travers with us a White House correspondent following the campaign in Georgia this Labor Day weekend and probably some other swing States yeah there's been a little riff going on for a while between Governor Brian Kemp and Donald Trump yes but I was reading this morning that they are kind of circling the his warehouses fedmart Price Club later shortened to Costco now here's the part you didn't know because he was a socialist salul price believed a business shouldn't make too much money he paid his that the issues that happen are always like 1 hour before competition which Santiago Vega will tell you you feel really like helpless like there's nothing you can do can truly be a make or break he almost couldn't compete in Sochi in 2014 until autobo technicians replaced failing screws on his prosthetic the GU at autobo were able to to fix it quickly like in a span of 15 minutes they was like oh yeah no problem just sit down and they had it done and yeah they they kind of saved the day for for me that that particular day that will be Jeff's job in Paris and we want to make sure that we're on site should anything go wrong to help them continue to compete quick fixes on the fly with parts from Utah helping athletes take home gold and it is such an incredible thing to be a part of and to watch and it's it's just amazing Jeff the technician knows a lot about how crucial it is to keep those Prosthetics in top working condition during the games because he is an Adaptive athlete himself oh w i i always uh you know and I mentioned this was it earlier this week or end of last week that I wish people would pay more attention to the Paralympics they kind of get lost in the shuffle after all of the hype around the Olympic Games yeah because the stories are every bit if not more inspiring absolutely more inspiring uh I just noticed too I looked this up this morning we have athletes uh Financial pressures and worries about the well-being of their children are weighing heavily on the minds of moms and dads it also turns out that parents are struggling with loneliness and at a much higher level uh than other adults particularly single parents almost half of all parents say most days their stress is overwhelming compared to only about a quarter of those without kids who say that Israeli forces conducting one of their largest raids in decades not in Gaza though in the occupied West Bank at least 11 Palestinians were killed a spokesperson for the Palestinian president warning of dire and dangerous consequences saying the raids are a continuation of the war on the Palestinian people and in the West Bank as well as in Gaza as well well as calling on the US to intervene immediately and Israel's primee Minister said Iran was funding an Eastern front in the West Bank and said they must do whatever is necessary to fight it including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents ABC's brick clinet in Tel Aviv special Council Jack Smith filing a new indictment against Donald Trump over his efforts to undo the 2020 election this one keeps the same criminal charges but Narrows the allegations against him to align with the Supreme Court's recent ruling on presidential immunity this is ABC News all right let's go in depth here ABC reported on it briefly but if you're feeling isolated and overwhelmed as a parent you are not alone a new advisory from the Surgeon General Vivic Murthy is looking at the stress of parenting and the impact it has on Mental Health ABC's aerial RF reports parents typically don't talk about this all the time they tend to focus on their kids health and well-being uh but there's also this sense of Shame and guilt sometimes around struggling as a parent new data showing 48% of parents say most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to 26% among other adults without kids it also turns out that parents are struggling with loneliness at a much higher level uh than other adults particularly single parents 34-year-old Caitlyn Niles is a working mom to a 4-year-old and a six-year-old she says she feels the pressure to balance her career and family there's so much pressure on parents to spend all of this quality time with your kids like sit on the ground and play pretend with your four-year-old you know and when you think about it logically it's like there's no way my mom was able to do that Surgeon General VC murthy's report citing common parental stressors like Financial strain worries about children's health and safety technology and social media and time demands saying all of these combined are contributing to the Nationwide epidemic of loneliness and isolation Eric Martinez a father of two from Colorado says he's had to learn new strategies in limiting his kids access to technology and social media we didn't share this experience growing up we didn't have access to this technology when we were seven eight nine 10 years old so we're kind of figuring this out as we go along we have to remember what stress is and stress is your emotional response to the increased pressure so we're going to decrease the pressure by number one Outsourcing tasks and not feeling guilty about it we are going to make sure we make time for our mental health our physical health and our spiritual health and then we're not going to feel guilty about it because all of those things are making us better appearance Murthy calling for a culture shift policies and programs to better enable parents to thrive whether it's just simply showing up to let a parent know that they're not alone that we've got their back those small moments of care and kindness they make a huge difference uh to parents Murphy says it's important for parents and caregivers to have the help they need and that includes help from the government employers and the community as a whole of course I know when we talk to Boyd mat and he always focuses on how can we address this from the community level you know are there young parents in your community who need your help who need to be seen and how can we respond to their needs and we have known forever that stress is a killer just like many other things and if you don't deal with it and don't find ways to get away from it on a regular basis it'll catch up to you so Mom and Dad local Utah company that's owned by utans who live in Utah full-time and they have been both a small business and now a big business and they know the struggles that Utah businesses have I mean they started off what was it with typewriters they it's always been supporting Utah businesses so as the technology changed over the years their technology is always at The Cutting Edge so you know to computers and printers and then they started laying the cable for building networks and now of course it's you know protecting your data yeah boy has that technology changed and we all wonder where meet and says planning and preparation were crucial to saving the man's life we've been preaching you got to have emergency action plans and You' got to have these meetings these have to happen because bad things happen all the time Walker says typically there's only one trainer at Cross Country meets but they had multiple trainers at this one since it was a fundra raiser for athletic directors in the district live verl Johansson KSL News radio nearly three out of four Utah homeowners have an interest rate that's 4% or lower and experts say that means a lot of people are staying put in their current homes KSL News radio's Adam small joins us live Adam Amanda de on esit with the kmy gardener policy Institute describes what we're seeing like this everybody's sort of locked in they have the golden handcuffs basically homeowners who want to relocate upgrade or downsize aren't because they don't want to pay higher interest rates that are currently north of 6% or today's much higher home prices as sketch tells KSL TV he thinks those interest rates specifically are the thing that's keeping a lot of buyers from pulling the trigger on buying but if and when they do drop he thinks more people will do just that people are smelling that getting a sense that lower interest rates are coming so let let's see what happens live Adam small KSL News radio National Parks and Recreation areas contributed $1.9 billion do to Utah's economy last year here's KSL News radio's Alexandria Bonia most of the money was spent on lodging and restaurants but it's followed closely by on the 21st South Freeway that's where it's been most consistently slow today especially out around 7200 West it's pretty busy now as well between Mountain View and banger i-15s in pretty good shape between Ogden and Salt Lake the Northbound Drive bogging down right now around the Banger highway exit in Draper and around 5300 South in Murray I'm Andy farnworth in the KSL traffic center there are a little more than 100 dams across Utah considered to be high Hazard KSL News radio's Tammy Kikuchi reports getting them all fixed is going to take some time it's true that Utah allocates $3.8 million for Dam repairs every year but the estimated cost to rehabilitate a dam is $4.5 million each meaning me it could take 120 years to get the job done most of the dams are privately owned so it's up to those owners to report any problems the dams are judged on criteria including the condition of the spillway whether there seepage the stability of the slope and the ability to withstand an earthquake the Utah Division of water rights is in charge of determining which dams need the most attention the mountain lion spotted roaming through Lehi the other day has not been caught and police are saying they will keep the current traps out just in case the dwr told KSL the mountain lion was likely just passing through that I don't know why that's cracking me up this morning something about a mountain coming up at just a moment on KSL right now though it's time to check in with Jeff Kaplan and his minute of news brought to you by the law offices of Jordan Wilcox we worry about our kids and social media but you have no idea here's proof that one Tik Tok post can be more powerful than an exploding volcano yes the Tik tocker is Logan mfet also known as the Cucumber guy sometimes you need to eat an entire cucumber I'm going to show you the best way to do it this 23-year-old mop top blonde guy from Canada posted a cucumber recipe start by SP the entire cucumber like a tablespoon and a half of soy sauce just like a little fish sauce Logan's cold cucumber recipe went red hot viral millions and millions of mouthwatering views it spawned competing recipes and in Iceland it apparently wiped out the entire country supply of cucumbers people couldn't get enough cukes and there are now none to be found in the grocery stores it is the Talk of the Town in Iceland's Capital the Cuke shortage is getting worldwide media coverage which is absolutely amazing because right now an active volcano in Iceland is shooting molten lava 150 ft in the air a river of fire is consuming an entire town the residents of grindvik have been evacuated for good the volcano is even impacting tourism this latest eruption forced officials to evacuate the world famous Blue Lagoon a natural geothermal Spa which lies just south of rovic as hissing lava melts an entire region the big news in Iceland is lokan moffit's cucumber recipe I know you're thinking chef what's the rest of the recipe some sugar MSG obviously I just told you a region is being melted off the map and you want to know whether to add cilantro and that is why Tik Tock is more powerful than an exploding volcano boom Jeff kaplan's minute of news only on KSL News radio IRS harassing you the law offices of Jordan Wilcox can help visit taxel ut.com because of a surgery I had it put me in a position where I had to learn to walk again I had no hope for any more income we had an IRS burden of about $366,000 with no income and only enough money to keep paying the bills we had to make a decision I was driving home from Salt Lake one day and I heard a commercial on the radio about Jordan Wilcox I got home my wife and I we talked about it and we made the decision to give Jordan wiox a call we met with Jordan at his office and they had a plan in place for me almost immediately and because of the good work work of the folks at Jordan wilcox's office that burden was reduced to about $895 when we found out that it was only $895 it was like the worst burden in the world had been taken off from our shoulders don't face the IRS alone I'm Utah tax attorney Jordan Wilcox visit taxel ut.com to schedule your free consultation meate third traffic and weather together traffic completely stopped on Southbound 15 right now right after the Roy onramp it looks like a car turned sideways involved in a crash but there's nowhere to send the traffic so everybody's just at a stop the delay is already back to the i84 split in Riverdale and only going to get worse I'm Andy Farnsworth in the KSL traffic center Azure blue skies today with highs in the 80s but smoke could be coming I'm Matt Johnson and right now let me see where we are 70 degrees at the KSL common Spirit Health Studios those pesky little mosquitoes making headlines again this morning as we check in with ABC News ABC News I'm Sherry Preston concerns about mosquito born illnesses are Amplified this week after a man from New Hampshire died from Eastern equine incilius it's a rare but potentially deadly disease most people have not had any symptoms or may not even know that they're infected but severe cases can present with fever headache extreme fatigue gastric distress and seizures so if you experience any of these seek medical attention immediately ABC's a rashev officials in the Northeast are spraying for mosquitoes in several communities mosquitoes love hot weather and we've got excessive heat warnings up out all over the place including in Chicago where public schools have been cancelling outdoor activities Israeli forces conducting one of the largest raids in decades in the occupied West Bank at least 11 Palestinians were killed in raids in Janine and tarum the Surgeon General is out with a new report that shows parents are stressed out 48% of them say most days their stress is simply overwhelming this is ABC News let's go in depth now an updated indictment has been filed against former president Donald Trump that was crafted to fall in line with the recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity KSL legal analyst Greg scoris joins us live how is this new indictment different Greg well I I Tim Tim stated it very well that what happened was the Supreme Court came down with a recent opinion in its last session that helped us Define or sort of understand the idea of presidential immunity so Jack Smith the special Counsel on this case has updated both of the indictments that he's got not only the the Washington DC uh batter involving the the election interference we'd call it and the the federal case in Florida the maralago case involving classified documents to remove any language or or parts of the indictment that would seem to be you know acts commi committed during the course of the presidency and furtherance of the presidency so that which would otherwise be immune according to the Supreme Court's recent decision I hope by making this clear but but so the indictments now remove language about acts that would would have been taken by Donald Trump during the course of his presidency and in furtherance of the presidency nothing you say Greg would make this any more confusing for any of us just so you know uh do you think this changes the timeline of all of this certainly it's not going to get taken care of before the election well it remains to be seen I mean we thought that the the Supreme Court have effectively killed both cases until after the election but Jack Smith filing these amended indictments is now signaling that he wants to go forward and yes that those cases could very well have at least some activity between now and November I don't think it's likely that there will be a trial but those cases are moving forward Full Speed Ahead and we'll see what happens because if Trump is elected of course he could he could terminate Smith and have his own Department of Justice re-evaluate the cases and decide whether they want to push them and of course they won't but if KLA Harris is elected she may very well tell Jack Smith to finish his job so yeah it's they're moving forward like you say Tim unlike ly there will be a trial before November but the Department of Justice or at least Jack Smith special counsel for the Department of Justice is is moving those cases forward as quickly as he can even if it means something happens between now and the November election we'll follow up with your help Greg thank you a KSL legal analyst Greg scorus with us on the in-depth at 15 and 45 we understand now we've got emergency traffic here at 749 brought to you by St Clair's Dino pay app save up to 20 cents a gallon not much moving there andy nope uh cars have crashed just south of the Roy on-ramp in that construction zone there's not much uh place to send the vehicles uh looks like a highway patrol trying to get up to the scene right now and uh nobody getting past a few cars were able to squeak by but only a few small ones everyone else is sitting at a stop all the way back to the i84 split at this point if you're coming south out of Ogden maybe grab i84 it's worth going out of the way at least for now a lot of people on 5600 South and Roy are now backed up and on 1900 West coming up to 5600 South Heather if you're coming out of toilla County you've got a little bit of delay sr36 out of lak Point getting on to I80 eastbound but if you continue buildings that can be built in this area along with some other zoning rules so now in this area they want to allow buildings to go up to 600 ft which is 150 ft taller than the current tallest building in Salt Lake City though buildings over a certain height do need to go through a design review beforehand the latest uh plans from Smith Entertainment Group includes a tower for housing but we don't know exactly how tall that's going to be yet we also know of shops restaurants other things that they want to build uh just um near the Delta Center and ksl.com reports the state still has to go over the agreement between the city and SG once that happens the city council will have until the end of the year to vote on whether or not to increase the city's sales tax by half a percent to help fund charges Trump with the same four crimes as a previous indictment including conspiracy to defraud the United States to obstruct the certification of the electoral votes on January 6th and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one's vote counted but the charges are now only for what he allegedly did in his role as a candidate not as president the filing comes just 70 days before the recent electrician graduates the problem is they've usually already been hired even before they graduate a lot of it comes down to the focus on college degrees so fewer people attend trade schools yeah the pay is not bad either oh no understand yeah Johnson says Utah shortage is more apparent than in other parts of the country because of our current growth a proposed Bill aimed at addressing the kidney shortage could offer a $50,000 refundable tax credit to to Good Samaritan donors nurse manager at the Inner Mountain transplant clinic Amy Herbert worries it's not enough of an incentive because the money would split between five years instead of a one-time payment she also thinks there is a chance that some transplant centers might not do proper screenings and after care just to get their numbers up I think that there has to be some sort of parameters put into place that um you know around that that they you know if that's the case then they they would have to have all these things done to assure that those patients are actually cared for throughout their lifetime and not just at that moment of donating a kidney others in the medical field say that the bill is targeted toward a specific population so there is a chance it could help a Utah actor says he was taken by surprise when an American Heart Association commercial he filmed a while ago showed up on national TV we've got some slowing exiting the freeway uh but then Highway 89 a pretty good alternate going south Heather we have a crash on the West Side belt this is Northbound just before you get to the 2011 interest rates is negative these days and we're always waiting for it to come down there are some benefits to where interest rates have been and that is that you can supercharge your savings right now and our friends at UCCU have a couple of ways for you to do it yes Utah Community Credit Union they have yields up to 5.25% so you can have a high rate savings option that will supercharge your savings and that looks like you know either a money market savings account or a short-term savings certificate let's talk about the savings certificate for just a second because with a certificate unlike a savings account you just make one deposit up front and then you let that money ride for a while and usually as long as 5 years but they also have put together at Utah Community Credit Union some short-term savings because they know that 5 years doesn't work for everybody so you can get short terms like 3 months 6 months even 12 months and if you need immediate access you UCCU has the money market that can give you a high yield and an anytime access so if you've got money sitting in some other savings account move that money over to UCCU and earn more money on your money up to 8:15 the three things you need to know this hour first nearly three out of four Utah homeowners have an interest rate of 4% or lower and that's leading a lot of people who want to move to stay put I'm KSL News radio's Adam small second the Salt Lake City Council voted unanimously to approve zoning changes downtown that could lead to a revamp of the area around the Delta Center third it's traffic and weather together South 15 still backed up from Ogden into Roy a crash from there earlier has been moved so the front end of the delays are starting to uh increase the speeds but the middle to back end still just barely inching along we've also got big delays on 215s Westside belt from Taylorville up into West Valley because of a crash near the 3100 South overpass I'm Andy Farnsworth in the KSL traffic center thanks to a shallow Cool Front we could be a little bit Breezy today but smoke fills in tomorrow I'm Matt Johnson right now 72 degrees at the KSL common Spirit Health Studios turns out being a parent is stressful who knew from ABC News I'm Sherry Preston a new report out from the surgeon general's office on the stresses of being a parent it's out this morning and shows that worries are mounting for moms and dads everything from Financial concerns to social media and their kids well-being ABC Zio rashev parenting is always a journey but a newly released advisory from the Surgeon General revealing just how stressful it can be and the impact that is having on Mental Health new data showing 48% of parents say most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to 26% among other adults without kids parents also report being lonelier than those without children especially single parents prosecutors in France say the CEO of the messaging app telegram pav durov has been freed from police custody as he awaits a court appearance the billionaire is accused of allowing telegram to be a platform for drug trafficking terrorism and child pornography a new streamlined indictment from special counsel Jack Smith one that replaces the prior indictment against donnald Trump related to alleged attempts to overthrow the election the nature of the charges has been altered to reflect the Supreme Court's ruling granting sweeping presidential immunity here's ABC News chief justice correspondent Pierre Thomas for example the new indictment flatly states that Trump had no official responsibilities related to the certification proceeding but he did have a personal interest as a candidate in being named the winner of the election the indictment goes on to state that co-conspirators accused of helping Trump slow lies about the election were people acting in a private capacity and that none of them were government officials during the conspiracies bus tour today through SouthEast Georgia vice president K Harris at a running me Tim Walls will take part in their first joint visit to that key Battleground State Donald Trump has been leading there but Harris has been gaining ground since entering the race her campaign is also investing heavily in Georgia you're listening to ABC News is sitting around during the uh report here talking about ebikes today I don't know Dave Nora joins us I don't know that an ebike necessarily had anything to do with the crash in the situation with these three girls did it well it's a good question they were on an ebike there were three girls riding the ebike and I I mean who of us didn't ride a bike in our youth with our friends on the handlebars and someone on the pegs right that that happens we are also talking about the stress of parents again ebikes is a new thing that we're learning more and more about because as parents I don't think we fully understand what an ebike is because there is such a huge variety and array of ebikes that are out there some are very barely ebikes right they they Prov provide very little power others are basically motorcycles and there are laws for each one so depending on your age uh determines whether or not you can drive certain ebikes and on on the show today we want to look into this a little bit more help parents understand okay which is the appropriate ebike for your kid because they're asking for it for Christmas they're asking for it for their birthdays they become incredibly affordable so it's not like they're $4,000 as they were when they first came out so we'll help parents understand a little bit better which e ebikes are out there and which is appropriate for your kid in their age at least thank goodness they had helmets on these girls they were injured and you know seriously one was taken out uh by helicop so seriously injured but thank goodness they had helmets on yes oh absolutely and as bad of a decision as kids make sometimes every once in a while they throw in a good one right there and and a helmet is fantastic I'm glad to know Dave I wasn't the only one that was dumb enough to put my friends on the handle when I was I did that too yeah buddy get up there you fit nicely it was the most uncomfortable place to ride uh Dave and jovic coming up 9:00 this morning here on KSL let's get another look at traffic and weather together is it still emergency traffic brought to you by Sinclair's a dinopay app save up to 20 cents per gallon I guess it is emergency Andy yeah it's going to be a long wait through the delays in fact right now around 21st streets where the backups start in Ogden and they continue down for all those miles into Roy where they cleared the crash but uh we still have huge backups uh and then as you continue South into Salt Lake City the freeway is just fine but those of you who normally take Highway 89 till it becomes Beck Street roadwork has created a big extra delay coming into downtown you're actually better off taking I15 into Salt Lake than you are Beck Street today Heather and if you're on the West Side belt you're going to see some big delays coming up from Taylorville on I25 Northbound almost to the 2011 freeway split that is due to a seven vehicle crash it had been blocking two right lanes of traffic they've managed to move a lot of the vehicles over to the right so they've opened up one more right lane but again you still have really slow traffic there you also have delays on bang Highway Northbound through the road construction zone in West valley and mountain view corridor has its typical delays heading north through Daybreak Eric and you got Northbound slowdowns in several spots on I15 through Utah and Salt Lake counties in through Lyndon where you got police over on the right shoulder before the Pleasant Grove bulevard exit rounding point of the mountain and from Midvale into Murray in fact in just got a little p in muray where you're at normal paace but the rest of the way you're going to be reduced speeds all the way up to the turnoff to I80 or the 2011 Highway common Spirit hospitals clinics and caregivers all connected to Advanced Healthcare in Kansas uh Colorado and Utah Healthcare with human kindness is here hello human kindness Eric Butler in the KSL traffic center KSL 78 forecast enjoy today's blue skies cuz they could be you by Sinclair's dyo pay app save up to 20 cents a gallon stop in at least a little bit ago Andy yeah it is moving now the freeway crash that caused the delay from Roy all the way back into Ogden is uh been moved out of the way so all lanes are open but it's that construction zone where everybody's been backed up and so it's not thinning out as quick as you'd hope traffic back backed up from 21st Street all the way down almost to Sunset right now so that's 3 four miles of backup some are switching to I 84 so there is some slow down there and then uh you've got uh backups on Beck Street coming into Salt Lake from Highway 89 this morning in North Salt Lake because of road work Heather and we also have a lot of delay on southbound I or Northbound I 215 on the West Side belt this is between 4700 South in Taylorville up toward the 2011 freeway split it's due to a multi-vehicle crash it's now been moved out of the lanes of travel over to the right shoulder but you still have those big backups in this in that stretch and then Northbound I15 as you come out of the Provo area out of the Utah County area from Lehi all the way over the point of the mountain to 2100 South has got delays Eric and in Utah County we do have some Northbound delays going from Oram into London you have police presence over on the right shoulder right before you get to the Pleasant Grove Boulevard exit so that's part of the problem there uh mountain view corridor Northbound heading away from sr73 of that slow approaching Redwood Road if you continue on 2100 North approaching 2300 West that slow and you do have delays eastbound on Pioneer Crossing coming out of Saratoga Springs heading over to I5 Eric Butler in the KSL traffic center beautiful day in store 87 for a high and sunshine and right now at this morning for two Spanish Fork High School students who jumped in and started CPR on a man who had collapsed from a heart attack at a cross country meet on Saturday PJ Merrill tells KSL TV he learned CPR a year ago in a class at school and he was able to put that training to good use he did CPR until the man started breathing again I was so relieved I was so relieved I was worried that he was going to die on me his friend travin elquist also jumped in calling for help the man they helped save is feris child and his wife Deanna child says those two teens are amazing and they did bring him back after his heart stopped an athletic trainer at the cross country meet where the man collapsed says people were in the right place at the right time the teens called for help while performing just going to take some time at the current rate of funding for rehabilitating the dams it would take an estimated 120 years to complete the state allocates $3.8 million a year for the work but a cost an estimated $4 million to upgrade each Dam so as far as our high Hazard dams we have around 101 of them that need to meet minimum safety standards that's kind of what we're looking at right now Maverick Center because of a crash I'm Andy Farnsworth in the KSL traffic center Azure blue skies today with highs in the 80s but smoke could be coming I'm Matt Johnson 77 degrees at the KSL common fod health Studios and time for the latest from ABC News ABC News I'm Sherry Preston the founder of the messaging app telegram has been freed from police custody in France pav durov was questioned for killing at least 10 Israel says they were Hamas militants in the West Bank City of chanine it's now been cut off concerns about the spread of mosquito born illnesses in this hot weather include the potentially deadly Triple E virus Health teams have been outs spraying pesticide in major cities from New York City all the way up to the Boston area to help prevent the spread of mosquito viruses and health officials are also concerned as more than 30 States report cases of the West Nile Virus these diseases are only transmitted from a mosquito bite not person to person that's really important to stress they're talking about the westnile virus there ABC's arol rashev this is ABC News before we talk to Adam Gardner we better give these tickets away or at least give you a chance to win some tickets all you have to do is text this keyword to 57500 and your name will be in for a pair to watch BYU take on Southern Illinois this Saturday the home opener here's the word tailgate one word don't separate it it's one word t a i l g a t e and good luck vice president KLA Harris and her running mate Tim Walls will be sitting down with the first sitdown one-on-one interview since announcing their campaign KSL at night co-host Adam Gardner joins us live I've heard people make a big deal out of the fact that this is the first one Adam how do you see it uh I think it's a big deal as well after 38 days on this campaign a very short campaign she's yet to actually have an interview with or a sit down with any news anchor or reporter this is a problem I also think it's kind of a big deal because the media really hasn't done their job in questioning the Harris campaign she's still in that honeymoon phase or holding her feet to the fire I remember when she got finished speaking at the DNC convention an NBC News White House reporter was in the tunnel to talk to her and when she walked by made eye contact shook the reporter's hand she said how do you feel and she said I feel great we're going to win this thing and that was kind of it and they've kind of let her off the hook so this will be the first opportunity for reporters to really question her about some of her policy changes uh that she's had in the past till today and it'll be a good opportunity for KLA Harris to actually lay out her policy positions for while she's the Presidential nominee I'll tell you the other thing that's getting attention this morning and even CNN is asking the question they asked for a one-on-one with Cala and the campaign wanted her to appear with Tim Walls what do you make of that well I I you know I think you're right to be uh a little shocked by that and I think it's kind of concerning because I don't I don't know if this is the case but what it appears to voters to many voters is that she needs someone there to kind of uh hold her hand or intervene in case she gets tripped up in the past when she gets tripped up usually by friendly reporters uh she'll laugh it off a little little bit and give herself time to think I think Gana bash hopefully will be a little more poignant than that but it'll give an opportunity for Tim wals to come in and defend her or add his own perspective on her policy positions to kind of give her time to think so did the candidates work out their differences on whether the mics stay hot or not during the debate I don't think they did it s it sounded like the Trump campaign wanted to keep the same rules as the Biden campaign normally he's W Donald Trump is one to interrupt and yell and and make a scene and he wasn't allowed to do that in the last debate with President Biden and uh but it actually worked to his favor and uh kamla Harris wants to be able to use notes uh Donald Trump doesn't need notes because he doesn't really know the policy just kind of says whatever he wants and uh and so this is another sticking point and I I hope it's not a reason I really hope it's on a reason Tim and Amanda uh that she uses to not debate Donald Trump that would be a shame does sound like it's going to happen and September 10th is the date on ABC News So Adam thanks for your time this morning thank you both that's the in-depth at 15 and 45 still an emergency traffic situation here at 8:49 brought to you by St cla's Dino pay up save up to 20 cents a gallon Andy is it getting any better out there well the the the delays are about the same distance they've been for a while backups from about 21st Street in Ogden all the way down in through the rest of Ogden and IND Roy almost to to the 650 North Clearfield exit but it is moving and that's an improvement over what we were seeing earlier lot of delays on Alternate Routes Hinkley Drive heading away from the freeway over to 1900 West a bunch of delay on 1900 West I 84s backed up for a couple miles before the Highway 89 exit and a bunch of slowing coming south on Highway 89 down the hill out of Ogden all that so people can avoid the freeway Heather speeds are improving and the delays are thinning out on I 215 Northbound between 4700 South and Taylorville up to the 2011 freeway but the crash near 2011 is still in play it's over on the right shoulder you have a bit of delay on both Banger Highway and mountain view corridor Northbound through a Taylorville West Valley area heading up toward the 2011 your longest stretch of delays though remains I-15 Northbound starting in Lehigh over the point of the mountain all the way up into downtown Salt Lake Eric we're looking good coming out of TOA County this morning northbound sr36 no major problems since it's been kind of that way all morning going up to i8 I8 through parley's Canyon looks good but you do have some eastbound slowing approaching the Kimble Junction exit and a little bit just past that exit heading over to Silver Creek as well Duran's Appliance is offering Black Friday pricing now and no interest financing through 2026 on single Appliance or whole kitchen packages on fif South
