53. The Great Oasis - Ticketmaster DEBACLE of 2024!!!

hi I'm Alexa welcome to my channel Ticket Master I have a massive issue with them we'll get into the main Crooks of it in a little bit but they are absolutely a monopoly on the ticket uh selling purchase resell market and their systems cannot handle it and we know this every time there is a very popular uh artist who's going on tour and you always hear the issues so for those who have not heard they may not be one of your favorite bands um the English rock band Oasis has announced that they are reuniting they broke up in 2009 and they are performing reunion a reunion tour next summer excuse me um as of now the only dates that are announced are ones in the United Kingdom so they had uh Manchester Cardiff London Edinburgh and I'm sorry I forget the but there's somewhere in Ireland as well um Oasis is one of my top two favorite bands the other band being Queen I can listen to most any song from either of these two bands if it comes on I can listen to it I may not listen to them every day I may you know go for weeks or months without but I will always go back to listening to their stuff for these two bands they are an integral part of my childhood and in many ways they helped me survive some very very very difficult times in my life I never thought that I would ever see either of these bands in concert and that was heartbreaking to me um I don't have very many things that I get truly fanatical about and and even saying that I don't because I couldn't and really can't I don't go out buy absolutely everything from either of these bands I don't go out and get all their merchandise I don't go on message boards and post incessantly about it but the depth of my feelings is they they are a huge part of my life right that is where I consider the fanaticism part of my fanship to be for them so to hear that they're reuniting and to be in a position where I am lucky enough to be able to splurge and go see them if I could get the tickets I saw Queen with Adam Lambert in 2014 and it was I want to say it was life-changing but I don't know that it necessarily changed my life but it changed my my understanding of my life it sort of indicated to me or proved to me that I was going in the right direction that my life was so much better that I had done so much healing that I had done so much growth that I had worked so hard to get what I wanted and to be able to afford to go and see them and I did go and see them in 2014 and it was just I I don't think I will ever forget it I mean I obviously can't say that for certain but I don't plan on ever forgetting about it I don't think it would be possible I think it's one of those moments in life where there was sort of a before and an after and it was just mindblowing I have been lucky enough to see them three additional time since then uh I was sort of doing every two years and I didn't do that on purpose but that's when they played shows in Chicago um and then Co happened and everything was shut down so there was a gap for a few years and they did come back out I want to say 2021 might have been 2022 but I I did go and see them uh I think it was the end of 2021 um but that's besides the point that's kind of off topic when Oasis I I genuinely never saw Oasis getting back together like nol and Liam their brothers the fight that they had or that I as I understood it to be I know that family Dynamics can be tricky I've talked about estrangement with one of my siblings I don't foresee ever getting back together um myself and my that one sibling um I sort of just had grieved that I'd never been able to see them and sort of moved on from it that uh that I wouldn't be able to ever see them so when they announced these shows I literally within minutes I was on their site signing up for the pre-sale um I'm calling it a lottery but that's not what they called it so they did give a chance to certain fans to get pre-sale tickets and it was a three-hour window Friday morning where I am in the US uh unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to be chosen for the pre-sale so that left me with tickets going on sale at 3:00 a.m. Central Time in the morning this morning where I live in the US so I did stay up I had Ticket Master completely loaded I had updated my account I don't keep a card on file but I put one on for this specifically I didn't want to have any issues where I lost tickets because I didn't type stuff in fast enough I was ready I was on the one date that I was going to look for and the countdown's going and at about 2 in the morning it flips from wait to join the queue and I'm like oh my God this is great here we go and I click join the queue and now you can go online and there's actually news articles about it because people are very unhappy their site was crashed their site was crashed by the number of people I got a 504 error a few times I got some other Mis loading messages and then after a while I was put into a queue saying our site has unusually high traffic will let you know when you can go in when it's your turn and I'm like okay no big deal about an hour later maybe a little bit less my sister who lives in England woke up they had gone on they were going on sale at 8:00 a.m. her time I don't remember if she got up a little before that or if she got up a little bit after but I had been in this queue for a while um and we had been talking about which location we could go to um the Manchester location and part of me is like I might have should have done that but that's just a field and she and I would both have a lot of trouble standing for a couple hours and not having at least the option to sit down right uh I have some issues so it's I was like plus when you're in a field and everyone's in front of you I'm only five seven if I got stuck behind some guys who are or or or other women who are 510 six foot higher I wouldn't be seeing anything and that to me I know they are not going to necessarily be the type of flamboyant Showmanship that Adam lamit and queen do and it is more about the music and enjoying it but I would still like to see them right like i' like to see them when I'm at a concert so so combining that with having a seat if we were to go to one of the stadiums we decided on Wembley because we have family down there and it would be nice to spend a few days get a hotel and and see family and go to the show all of that stuff and we decided on Edinburgh because um we can get there pretty easy too so from where where she is and I've never been there to explore that City so extra details probably didn't need to say up she gets on and apparently there was a different site that you started on for the Edinburgh shows um but when she clicked it took her back to Ticket Master and I mind you I have been in this out this this queue for over an hour telling me that when it's your turn to get on the site will let you in she got into the site the queue she was put in was for tickets for a specific date and it had a number and part of me was like that should have been the first clue right that should have been the first clue so it probably took a good four hours from when I very first got this message that you're in a queue will let you on the site when it's your turn to when I actually got LED onto the site and as it was doing it it kind of clicked in my brain and I typed her and I said I'm GNA be really upset if I get put into another queue for the actual tickets because that was the button I had clicked that started the whole debacle with the 504 and trying to all of that stuff sure enough I get put him to a queue for the tickets themselves 290 3,000 people ahead of me for one date and this brings me to my my con this has been the gripe that I've had with Ticket Master forever is when those bands have more than one show in a location I normally don't care what date I get the tickets for I can make any of them work I will juggle things around I will you know get a hotel if I absolutely have to or whatever it is normally I actually if I go to Chicago I just drive home even though it's very late in the morning at that point um or early in the morning I should say late in the evening I don't care if it's a Wednesday I don't care if it's a Thursday I don't care if it's I mean a Friday or a Saturday would be great because you got the next days off you don't have to worry about taking time off from work right like but I don't care I just want to know the date with the most availability and I want to be able to compare the seats so if I'm on one date and I see two seats and I'm like well I want to hold those but I want check the other dates to see if there's something else you sometimes can't do that even with more than one tab open and they were having all of these things up like if you have open other tabs you'll get kicked out of this queue we have VPN things in or whatever they have in progress to to stop Bots and if you have more than one tab open it'll flag you as a bot I was like I can't risk being thrown out of the one Q I'm in and frankly every time in the past I've had to try and even when it wasn't like the day of them going on sale like I it's such a hassle to change between the dates for the same artist in the same location they need to fix that that is a massive issue um you might be able to get a slightly better view even if it's a you know more expensive less expensive like you might be able to find better tickets for a different date and when the date doesn't mat to you Ticket Master C has no option for you other than to get out of the queue there's a point to that later so I'm in this queue [Music] and mind you I think it took three to four hours to get into that queue from the first queue despite the fact that my sister joining the site after me more than an hour after I was already in this Cube got into the site immediately um which there's stories out there that happened to other people too apparently so Ticket Master screwed all those people like me who were early and literally waiting in this queue that they put us in and then let other people into the site before us when they would it was their first time getting to the site that is I don't know what we can do about it I have this thing from my childhood I know exactly when it became a thing in my life but I despise unfairness Injustice and it's little things like this big things like life altering affecting things right I don't care I don't like it I think it is wrong and I think it is messed up I think I might have been hemped by the fact that I am in the US so even though I was on the site at the same time as other people there was a lag in obviously there has to be even if it's a few milliseconds that information has to travel a larger distance to get to me than it does to get to someone living in the UK so I'm in this queue close to 300,000 people in it and it takes an hour and it goes down by 10 so we're now in the 280 something thousand people ahead of you range and I am I've been up for at this point it was between it was somewhere around 23 hours straight and I said to my sister I'm like this isn't moving I gotta lay down um she was online I was like look if you do you you know if you're you have to go out just go out like don't worry about it but if you're home and you don't mind keeping it up keep looking for the Edinburgh ones she finally gets in and there there's nothing nothing to get um so I wake up a few hours later I got back online Everton blew a two-nil lead to lose 3-2 so that didn't even help cheer me up and I get on and um I think a lot of I think it went faster after the first couple hours so I don't remember if I had to rejoin the queue or if I was still in it but it was at about 19,000 people ahead of me at this time so I'm like that's that's fine I mean I've got nothing to do I'm just going to sit here all day I didn't plan to go out because I knew I'd been up all night um so I had no plans for today so I just sitting here I was doing some stuff online um keeping myself busy and eventually it was about noon I did actually get into the ticketing system itself so I could see the map of the stadium and this is where the last of not being in England I think it might have affected me because every once in a while I would get there were a couple there were a couple times I actually thought I either had one or two tickets and I if I was getting one for my like my sister knows she she's going she had offer to go with me but she knows that it's more important to me than to her so she was like if you get one just get one right so there were a couple times I thought I had a seat in my basket there was one time I had two seats next to each other in a really good location in my opinion and when I went to hit pay check out they said oh just kidding sorry so someone else must have literally clicked like the Nan seconds or whatever and like they got it right before me that's fine I nothing you can do about that there was no way to change the date of the concert and this is so frustrating like I said before it's the worst thing about The Ticket Master platform even when it's not a really busy day like this was I mean there's a lot of support for Oasis in the UK and I don't blame him like I was trying to get tickets to go too right I'm not even in the UK um but last year Well when I've been to Queen I I I haven't bought some of them on I didn't know if I could make it I didn't know if it' be in town at the time I waited and then in a few weeks before the show I'll go on to see what's being resold right so there is that option still that maybe just like myself and my sister were online we both could have gotten up to four tickets and then we wouldn't have needed them all so I'm sure there's other groups of friends who are like we're all going to try we need seven tickets total and like three people out of that friend group all get four so now they have five extra they don't need those things are going to end up being resold so I am going to go back and look um I am going to hopefully they do announce US tour dates and I going to look and recruit a few people to try and help me because I want to make sure I have people in all of the locations um I don't know who I can get to do that with me but we're gonna see so and if if it's just me it's just me that's fine uh but you this platform drives me nuts like why could I not change between the dates so this what it seems based on everything I tried to do on this slide is that that 300,000 people in that one queue was for this single date it wasn't even like you could then choose the the date it was that's it 300,000 people for that one date were in that Queue at one point that's insane and I know there's probably um there's probably Arguments for like well no you chose your date you should be in that queue but that's not how it works if you work walk up to a ticket window if you walk up to a ticket window and you're at the front of the queue like you're buying an airplane ticket you can say what dates do you have for this flight what dates do you have for Oasis at Wembley what tickets are there I should be able to see all of them and I think everyone should be able to see all of them and I feel like they need to figure this out because it drives nuts even when I'm just searching for seats uh the last time I went to Queen I I had a friend go with me and I kept trying to I have to I had to go back out and go back into to a new date because the only seats I was Finding were in a sort of limited view and I didn't want them so while I really wanted the one date that time because they have more limit on what time they can take off from work um I was looking at the less good date for them to see if there was a much better seat and a better price uh it was hassle it's such a hassle these are all first world first world problems and listen I do still have a chance if they do announce the rumored US tour dates as I said there's four of the six locations that I am more than happy to go to and can easily go to uh if I'm lucky enough to get tickets it just goes back to my childhood and this absolute Soul deep aversion to Injustice and I feel for every other person out there of which there are many who were in the same situation as me who were up early were in the queue waiting for the not even in the queue like in the queue technology wise but like waiting for the time and to get down to an hour before to into the actual Cee to buy the tickets like me which I was I set my account like there's other people out there I feel for few I'm sorry I'm congratulations to the people who got tickets who actually care about it if you're a scalper and you're selling a what's approximate I think the highest tickets were something like $700 if you're selling those for $7,000 or $9,000 7,000 would be9 to $10,000 more than a 10% % markup you're scum absolute scum there's no other way to say it you're wrong you shouldn't be doing that um and to the people who will resell their tickets at face value or potentially a very minimal markup thank you you are the people who help keep this world going nicely um so this was my day I almost didn't come on tonight because I am still tired oh that was the thing you get in the ticket queue the actual ticket the window you get to the front of the queue you you have the the seat map after an hour you get kicked out so it wasn't like I could even sit there for three hours after an hour they kick you out you have to join the queue again when that happened it was about a little after one o'clock here in the afternoon um in the US I got right back in the queue and there were about 20,000 people and I was like I'm exhausted so I ended up going back to sleep for a few more hours woke up jumped online it looks like everything is sold out oh I think I saw a note saying they were sold out because I was starting to try and look for different dates and different stuff and see if I could just be in a fat queue rather than the ticket basted just to get onto the site queue um but yeah there came a point where I was just like uhuh I'm done like there's no tickets left and the site wasn't working properly which is a massive issue and I don't know what can be done about it but they are absolutely a monopoly and monopolies are bad they're absolutely bad uh Europe is introducing a lot of legislation that's breaking up the tech giant monopolies more the US is at this point I mean that's not not surprising if you know anything about us versus EU uh consumer protection yeah one of the good things about being up all night is around I've been trying to learn YouTube shorts the only way you can do them is on your phone on the app at least as far as I can tell I've done some Googling I've done in the YouTube Studio on my desktop um but I'm going back through my old videos to try and find little pieces where I really felt like I said something the way I wanted to say it um that is a you know a key message so if you have any ideas of previous videos where something I said
