hello you're listening to the DVD commentary of The Inbetweeners this is episode one I James Buckley I play the part of Jay I'm Joe Thomas and I play the part of Simon I'm Blake Harrison I play the part of Neil I'm Simon bird and I play Will William McKenzie episode one the first day yeah that was um that was fun doing that uh doing the the the opening credits in between it was all just all green screen and yeah it was in front of a green screen and just had loads of Stills taken of us actually I think all the graphics actually look really really good that's one of my favorite parts of the show actually is does make look quite cool like like we're in a sort of Pop video I think which is nice because we look like idiots throughout the most of good to look good for that that brief opening moment and then look like [ __ ] for the rest of the episode I'm going to take you outside and I want you to [ __ ] me really oh that was a good day park uh that's Buckley shortly after jumping on that card James vomited him Edge more there definitely her just to confirm hairy chest we are going to have sex that's absolutely that's a very hairy dress for a 16-year-old isn't it I know who I'm looking at in that scene when uh when yeah there was a scene where Blake had to take his shirt off and he was forced to shave his chess yes but they didn't see that sa from me has a little jungle down there as a monkey I think my my chest is actually less hairy than yours hay than I could discuss it with my head of this stuff was already lovely I love doing this stuff in the school it was just a really beautiful lovely School a very very nice school they had they had um was it Sky News or something streamed in there on a massive projector in the like Conservatory it was completely wonderful it was like a sort of it's like where you go to catch a plane to Heaven it was brand new as well and they would because they were still sort of introducing kids into the school they'd only had three years oh really they only went up to year nine they still so was completely empty it was mainly empty but just so the older years were just made up with some lucky children running around with twice as much space as every other school child in the country I I give it about 5 years until it's full of graffiti great yeah well we did quite a lot didn't we to be honest just some that's not true no that isn't true as far as anybody knows that's not true how did you guys find out about it and like no it isn't I don't want the IR any FES on this but we obviously didn't graffiti to school I'd toass Jo first I'd imagine become quite important yes oh so I can't be mates with him canny yes no we're not friends in real life we had to try and get on for the purposes of this you can see from his rather NY yeah he didn't do very well at doing that we just well iric it's torn us apart even further less number one of the sick form life is not great those very good you probably would want to say that your hair is not actually like that in real life is it my hair no my hair no that literally took hours of preparation every day abely those spikes my hair I've got more of a sort of fop thing going on in real life yeah it's not that much better not better but at least it's my own mistake ridicul but illegal the makeup Department no very good very good to makeup Department actually so that's unfair no I have to go this way yeah my hair literally took hours Raj park that's the the fake name of the school yeah what were the other options they have I don't know that was a dead end move onve R Hill one take this bit brilliant yeah effortless I must say you are getting this bit actually I would have sort of Messed this up no it did I say one take this is took one take in the end quite an important bit coming up now okay this is good there's a little bit of trivia here from yes some Simon's point of view here we go this is when it all starts to kick in now this is when the episode starts to make sense why is that James well cuz Neil and Jay enter the enter the scene I like the incorporation if you look at me there on the toilet you can see the second pair of boxes I have underneath the first pair yeah you can see that your balls are covered up yes who were these girls you [ __ ] then but um that wasn't your choice you wanted them out as Jo said a little bit of trivia here um about wender is uh my girlfriend's brother so and actually in as that character as well yeah there is the little one behind I'm lit pointing at the screen I was pointing at the screen there to show you which one it was I um good good guy I like uh what the [ __ ] are you doing you trying to look at my [ __ ] good one so Henry ly is playing Donovan b b with Henry Henry is actually completely lovely Hollywood H what sort of place i' come a little a little mistake coming up if you just look there's a cable there's a cable all right yes it is there's a cable from the camera so I think Harry must be acting here or something cuz he's actually playing a complete bully when he's actually just a sort of sweet guy yeah he it's as if he's entered a sort of character and is kind of embodied another person I think it has to be mentioned that um he was we we had a cast versus football match uh after we finished filming and he was worried that he would be the the weak link okay on the cast um and we all I think we all were but he really came through I think Henry yeah I thought he did yeah he did he did well I think man of the match went to went to me right I love that performance I told you James likes my acting in that bit quite nice cuz I was not really sure that's a short skirt that short is it this way but can we a bit quiet here for the improvised line from from the extra as I walk past this is coming up wank of head she just saw me and she the first thing came to her head which was LE she didn't look into the camera though true might not go to this thing tonight pretty naked we've just had 10 weeks off yeah but he's just spent the last 10 weeks wanking three times a day that's why he's knacked yeah what's wrong with that I've had 210 wanks and my cock's like a pepper Army how did you guys find out about The Inbetweeners which was actually once called bagy trousers how do we I we found out uh that's great well how do we find out I was in a show in Edinburgh the Edinburgh Festival I was in it as well I was in it with this I wasn't idiot there was I was in a show with this little idiot and um eventually okay well you know he sort of ended up in this thing as well freak isy has been anywhere near a pub so don't mention it to your that's uh Emily head thanks H I think we did the last two weeks of filming all in the school I think it's fair to say that we look quite tired by this time let just take a moment to take that um no I'm good here oh okay what's why isn't he going what's the matter with him that's weird Jay's put in two and two together see what's the what is it hang on what are those legs about he's Crossing his legs he's hiding something brilant got sto the penny drops oh oh no an erect uh I think we should probably mention that didn't this happen to Damon Beasley the right yeah that's where this comes from most of the embarrassing moments that happen on the show have either happened to Ian Morris or Damon be the two rers the more sort of the the more sort of physical ones are Damon's Department I like kind of St kind of massively traumatic relationship Ian's Department I like the fact that you can you can sort of get away with it because the kids are only 16 17 so they're they're at a naive stage but obviously when it happened to the writers they were actually late they were writing the show it was during the week that they were writing the show these things happened anyone can be your friend you just need to hang around hanging out there we are not interested still not interested in there's my coat who's that in the background oh no here I come who's that little bat sneaking up oh there he is hello Professor words briefcase yes it's a briefcase line for Professor words one of my favorite lines your friends where are we meeting tonight then the Black Bull it's just I do like that coat that I wor the Black Bull take that take note the Black Bull where we going Neil is it the black ball oh yes that's right I'm sure that'll be fine definitely she'd be right she might not get served girls always get served as soon as I get that is true very true that's very good that's the great thing about this show not only is it things that are just been staring you in the face but you can't see them and then they say them true that that is true it's enyclopedia um I made a song up did about W's mom um I don't sing it no okay I won't sing it but it was very flattering I sing it just whisper in my ear it was no it was it was a silly song but she was uh can we please she was she was a very attractive lady and oh no and actually the only he's trying to stop them being rude but in the end he's the only one who gets heard saying the word vagina that can happen that's has happened to me when some people behind me were playing a kicking game and then eventually I got really pissed off and kicked one of them up the ass and I was told off by a woman member of the public being antisocial I think um I don't know I think this know one of those young people a good performance by the two TV thank youe I don't me just say that again just this is nice this is a nice bit hang on I like yeah the PS no when you say I'm going to the pub that's really good well I don't minute I don't like to trump it but if you if no you miss missed it but anyway missed it it wasn't just the drink I think those were supposed to do this in my boxes originally uh Alex McQueen he was so funny he is excellent is very funny actual porn mag all right I will come in look at Mom can I borrow 20 quid here's ask him for 20 quid aren't they spend only asked for 10 though bloody teenagers always asking for money they' only got one thing on their mind haven't they teenagers how to make money out of their parents smells quite strong see this I love this bit this is up to me on many occasion mentioning it I can see you've got it does remind me a little bit of my actual mom I mean I can't was it now can I I've not got is that why you had such an attraction that was why we ended up that's let's stop that there I like um can you see key in already in the yeah there is mistake number two borrow the key was already uh prepared so that you could quickly whip back in working the Black Bull the black bll yes nothing that a good I'm sure the the six in there whil we was filming this scene outside the pub we had an argument about Team America it went for so long Joe got me up about it look at Joe here he literally fuming you see the smoke coming out of his mouth look at that burning puddle of resentment I'm not listen to I think Ian had pull me to one side and say stop winding up Joe that was kind of a theme for the entire shoot though was Jo get quite emotional I get a bit emotional with the others you coming then bricky particularly should we bring that argument up again let's not do that here we are oh where all the that they don't look like they're in the no they're just early they're just early wait is that the Skool captain no no it's they're coming on later they be on later car will be along they're just in there because they're the hardcore apparently all right so now it's just a small matter of getting a little drinky possibly go wrong no this this this would be fine KN after the fruity typical bloody Neil isn't it you kneil don't piss your money way in there you've got a little enough it is this is a nice bit work fromy this B as good vir fromy very good little set piece that's right mate brilliant flawless flawless where you from you from Melbourne or per was the accent based like it yeah it is Melbourne based because Ramsey Street neighbors is the only I got ideas well Australian thing I know about where oh this I think this is actually this from a personal point of view this was the worst a filming for me because I had this it's not even a long speech just had a little speech to do in a minute just didn't didn't know my lines here it goes is he get it right he doesn't know his lines remember so this should go well me and Joe just doing nothing just the just motionless they might as well be let can we get a glimpse of and James in the background what are they doing they are good mates looking at the the trilogy of photographs James you look behind him trying to work out what year they were taken in not serve you at all if you're underage right you've driven me to this now this book actually says what does it say teenagers know your rights you can actually read that I've got the lines written in there bought by an adult and they are accompanied by an adult no it would be completely Justified you've had the lines written in that book I'm just that's absolutely fine um I'll pay for your drink I think Ian would have something to andn this I was genuinely scared of him like in real life no it's the CV guy that was yeah that car guy was genuinely scary yeah nice guy though lovely guy you've got to say that on these four please as many as [Music] four wa no no one's turned up yet but we have made one new friend who's that oh this is what's your name what's he doing sit with us we don't know him why hi Steve where at our drinks it's a long story that involves Steve as well now before we get our cider cider yes cider oh will what are you doing what are you doing at this school time is pretty cool whenever he goes out he always has meat and gravy with his booze well we're not going to get Simon is a bit weird just L just tagged along with he doesn't know for Christ sake you know get mine for me this is not going well is it not this isn't how they wanted to start the sick form just this old man and you know the thing about these guys is they're not cool but they're not like sad either they're sort of in between aren't they yeah they're a good name for the show actually well you're on yeah it's like the they're everybody they're you they're every man there's so much blood in there oh [ __ ] it's from Carly oh brilliant takes a long time to come up doesn't it this t a little while but no she saying it's so patch they're just loading it mate it is from Carly did you not hear yeah wait a second [ __ ] she's in the black horse where are we oh [Music] no disaster mate no way it was it was written that we were in the white swan that was which is the exact opposite because of which I thought was funnier but the swan is the their Nature's sort their enemies the SW is the horse of the lake that's what um boys what would say Simon Simon you this is this is a point where I always say that Joe's prepared to hold a word longer than most people really there we go just com really yeah I like that good uh oh now what good absolutely B absolutely massive isn't he a guy he's literally like four times the size of me you about it Tom ol OE Ollie Oliver I think his name was this there you go he was a he was going to be in the team if Henry couldn't make it he wasn't in the team thanks for bringing that up yeah Charming well done he's really nice actually are they again you have to say that like just we got bullying someone smaller into miles really nice guy lovely nice nice nice got to be kidding me that one isn't nice that one there do you do that one there yeah God I'll just take the four Ps then I'll just see your ID deadlock I like cuz he's a bit nicer he's used to dealing with kids a subtle difference from the other ban like four pints of ler you can see my stubble popping through there again all this guy wants is a little cheeky face fake ID and that would do it that's all he wants I enjoyed filming this because I had nothing to say and just sort of was in a pub with sure do you ex of course he yes was that at me good story have you got another one no what this is didn't you uh invite some uh essays to an imaginary party at your hotel room am I just making that up no it was a good part a joke a joke I see look what just look around you no what are you doing will bloody Pub is underage them's not the rules will oh will she's underage he looks a bit old he's uglier but he's don't do this if you're trying to get accepted into the school L control of this situation don't annoy everyone in the school 16 bir I like how you say padding everyone can pick up on that padding weirdly he also says bading Badger and this one Mark Donovan oh no oh you asking for trouble William he's yeah the teachers there it's all falling apart isn't it Sarah the run the backr far right screen she the thing the thing the inconsistency here is of course everyone blames will for in the night but Mr gilber has just shown up so I'm sure he if Will had just kept his call for 30 seconds major Flor major Flor things could have been very different see you again McKenzie and congratulations on doing my job for me I'll make sure you get another badge for this sir now get out what would the badge say now he goes disgraced ler please in look at him he's ashamed of himself isn't he nice though I like this little Cal down bit now good we started filming a bit of this and there was still the food table in the middle leave him on his own in the middle oh yeah we had this little song and's another song we made now no we we'll still see if it comes up I'm such a [ __ ] yes you are that was pretty specialist back there his mom still buys his trousers was a personal of almost like they're friends What's Happening Here friend who didn't need that's an important isn't it friend in the series it's okay cuz we also have become friends don't we it was nearly called friends but apparently there's a show that's already taken I don't know I never heard of it year I will get you I will get you is that a threat that's that is scary she is fit thanks lovely to meet you m Henry Lord Hughes is quite a big bloke nice to meet you he's looks quite intimidating I'm glad you're making friends he have his own clothing line or something oh M I really like m work isn't it I really like the choice of song this on now it's one of my favorite songs if he doesn't shag my mom first what is this song it's by the lies back the at least get better well they could just stay the same or get worse I'm hooked what an episode tell me what show I want to what is that it Happ oh god well James Buckley if only there were five more episodes in the series we're never going to find out what happens to Will and Simon well J and other won't be in it I hope there's other two aren't in it and they focus on the friendship between will and Simon um I don't know if you'd have a series there if you just have two people yeah it'd be like sort of brides head thing like a classic a television classic instead of this that's the best bit of the show hello and welcome to the DVD commentary of episode 3 for the in between us of f Park episode I'm Blake Harrison playing Neil yeah I'm Simon bird play will I'm Jay Thomas playing Simon yes come on I'm Jo I play J time who's that hand oh that's me I like how they do the um a little bit like this at the beginning of it just in case you haven't watched the other episodes we oh there is got him good she is fit I have a wank over my mom and unlike my old school there were girls she's f one thing I now know about girls and let's face it there is only one thing I now know about girls it's just two breast references there right little bit of personal trivia for me I'm actually taking driving lessons at the moment so you yeah and with a they're very good I passed my driving test first time uh I'd like to save the record that I had four miners okay and I um have a driving license in both the UK and the USA want that's um I have access to my mom's car let's try again it's a w CLE not too bad over in chy the other day they did that crash a couple of people smashing the back of the other car that was really good because they treed me into thinking that I had actually K the benefit of that was I didn't have to act as surprise which was something they realized I couldn't do like was he just here before we were picking up girls in a car just laughing openly laughing open m we we did enjoy this we often laughed during the the scene Jack Stevens dropped his ruler next will still wearing his Blazer what a geeking there a bit intense I think it was pl's public thought you passed your written test yeah I oh it should be Simon's the intellectual Group Well if you pass we could go on a road trip no he's not that's we can see what car's doing and goes on with well obsessed with Carly I don't think it's difficult to be the intellectual in the group involving Jay and yeah well that's expressed it like a terrible misogynist thank you I'm sitting weirdly there AR I what am I doing yes one leg tap under the other I would have liked to toast my SI I think that's doing out that's how he relaxes what you got on that toast bit of jam you know did did that myself in the uh in the background I thought it'd be a very clever idea to have something to eat and do whilst filming yeah continuity were on my ass all day long with the toast I don't know um is the thing where it has to if you cut at a certain point then when you restart again it has everything has to be exactly the same place but it's really impossible with things like food to get sucked off which is is almost completely impossible really thanks Jay continuity is on the rides boobs pop out it's not impossible some people do it properly I wouldn't be able to do it Neil works at thought Park but never told anyone about it he's a private manil private man Will's got an idea hasn't he the Nemesis man's cocking the bushes it's going to be awesome if I pass my test music's building up something might happen I reckon you'll pass your test going to pass I hope so cuz otherwise be set in a school again Miracle I've got a funny feeling you'll pass it Mir often come in unlikely packages so this day we did as an extra scene about a month after we'd actually finished and by that stage it was sort of winter in in the UK which is where we live and it's really [ __ ] freezing espe Little Child t-shirt with a bat on it that's why you look so old in that in this scene as well you've aged just need to loosen you up oh in now the first never saw any of this bit no uh the building that you're outside at the moment was the unit base where when we were filming that's where the Green Room was same time just film it at the place where you are places where we went on breaks kind of gradually got worse the of Damon's car again that's Damon's car this this is my favorite base I really like this base what's Miss Tim's car doing there you get a pass on that one for having such pretty eyes oh BL me you do have pretty eyes they're Exquisite a little a little story line we never know that turns out Simon has really bad eyesight never comes up again know no he's being distracted because she's fondling touching him on the shoulder eyes only for her always he's having trouble with her why don't you just let me help you with that n oh let me just help you with that you know what she means really yeah yeah that's not the only thing she wants to have a tug on I will fail you if you say what are the other things first and pull out of the Cent G on oh sto it sto it false start just relax try again it's very difficult to relax with you like that isn't it oh it's getting easier I it's getting hard the car exactly like that when I did my test um there you go right I'm I'm not sure that's helping with the nerves actually and it wasn't a problem I don't think it's that much of a problem but trust me I know how difficult this test can be we haven't watched this episode yet so watching it was sort of blackmail situation isn't it good you steer and I'll do the pedals blly me that's a bit of a touch in it surely he'll pass his test now it seems like he probably will even though he's a dangerous driver what episode did you do when you did the pilot um it was the episode where they bunk second second episode you played uh you played Neil in that as well didn't you yes I did I I played oh the guy that plays your brother Joe is well good I think he is good he is good he's really really good far better than me he's uh well he's all right I think we've too much Simon we knew you'd pass your dad's just bringing around your new car oh God Mom this is brilliant that is not fair i' imagine it be like a a beamer or like probably like one of those cars with a swimming pool the yeah yeah oh God what's that coming over the horizon oh no this that's my dad in the wheel oh what he done oh Dad no you're well meaning but he's so embarrassing you can't it's bright yellow he can't drive around in that oh D in public you know how I have to live what about my reputation at school street cred K that's gone come on oh with my little brother there my bloody family you made to school I think is cool I can't get this isn't cool is it do you want to talk about how nice that car was to drive this car was so dangerous I think it was about to be written off it was constantly ring there so many scenes in that car as well the throttle would sort of I could drive it I what happened on the motor oh my god when we drive on the motor I think there were I counted five specific moments at which we could have died careful I was unaware of that so well done for I didn't show my show my Panic no I felt quite safe to be fair even though um I might have said some things that and part in my driveway well I don't think it's too bad it's not great though is it no but don't look at the external reality think of the immense possibilities yes it's a chinka chento Hawaii but it's also Freedom it's a possibility of just listening just listening to it it's all dried up lives well you know I can't really say a lot because I wasn't in this scene don't know yeah Henry lyd Hughes comes up came up with the idea for um spitting on the car which you're about to see he did that just in in the week of rehearsals and he actually went let's do it like this took a s water and actually just spat all over the floor yeah I think someone probably had to clean that up he's very rock and roll isn't he he's done that pretty damn method scar incredibly safe wouldn't you be frightened you cried when he went on ghost train oh no this the worst possible time you could say that Mom in front of the school bully he just thinks he's a nice handsome young man well may not handsome that's gives impression your your favorite drink he's having a bit of air of James as well your Luke s sport story about that I was just well because I was I don't know threw up a couple of times whil filming people had to keep getting me Lucas a sport and also when I asked for Lucas a sport IED to make sure that um it it wasn't just normal Lucas a and was actually Lucas a did get that was it that was all quite an in-depth description of the bottle and and how it works and the cap on the bottle and the colors yeah well no mistake I just needed to make sure no room for error dealing with James Buckley cuz otherwise I just I really don't like the normal Lucas a so it would have been wasted a wasted trip I didn't want anyone to waste a trip it's not happening freak I called shotgun he's right he did call it what you're back in here get in the back wheel I'm so glad that they uh get off it's ain't no Public School whe they bleach the real world so we had a get in the back get in the back at the chento okay working on Hollywood four-eyed buffing put alongside I'm S I can't I'm not turning left it's against the highway code we just be him no don't be such a [ __ ] oh no get off hold on bit weird hello lovies they are lovely I don't want to be rude but they couldn't drive that that seem took literally ages I do remember that he sto it again he's really bad driver can't believe you lost the Muff wagon what are we going to do anyway wagon follow them till they're forced to drive to a police station they love it you talk it's called flirting yeah a terrifying and unsolicited form of flirting if you didn't drive like such an old woman we might actually catch up with him I'm not going to down next for well give a left fock for him so get a [ __ ] move on ahe yes we've got up with them do a left what you doing pull out no there's a space go we should really have watched it before we did we're just watching it um no it's quite exciting what do we remember about this day I just remember that we didn't get everything done and we dropped a scene [ __ ] sake and people were upset is a some of that pull the traffic nor traffic oh no a Dad theme emerging another embarrassing dad moment no oh [ __ ] [ __ ] in that looks bad good why they going so [ __ ] a lot of the uh bit filed that car were that done on a a low loader is that is that was that someone just holding the traffic then isn't a great start to our first road I don't that's nice that angry man I don't remember that it's nice little touch it's fair to say overtaking dead bodies was did you do this no those are those are not us in the car that's not us I don't remember doing thatter time left what is that supposed to be just very different weather this um this was in the first week of filming this is actually really really lovely day this was right we in the car oh we were absolutely boiling in that car it was so hot if you look at me I'm we're all sweating for some reason I keep looking down at my leg look at me I'm covered in sweat I look Absolut disgusting like a greased Pig this day I walked into a pole and I had to just um you had a massive cut on your head had a big cut on my head and you just carried on here comes the stunt that's the here comes the stunt Stunt Driver for this Stunt Driver but oh this is so exciting what's going to happen it's one there's a stunt Drive in there you can see it it's not Jo but no that is the pole I walked into so I put myself at more risk than the Stunt Driver easiest day work of that stunt driver's career he's done sort of like jumping over valleys and he had to where you going drive into a pole got to get this fixed but the roller coasters I don't care I have to get this fix obsessed with roller coasters AR Will's very very obsessed with roller coasters but uh Simon you you're not not did scene at the end of our first week filming which for some of us was the end of our first week ever filming so it was kind of a really amazing day and as we Trav all way we as a water W in this scene I felt really happy so was L like how'd you feel now really really bad we cheer you up I'm all right think about little no I feel TI feel nothing come on S do you want to tell us about your experience on the roller coaster yeah I'm not a big roller coaster man I think it's fair to say uh you're pretty nervous uh a few days prior to this because we had to go they'd hired the roller coaster for the day to film on uh later on we got we go on the roller coaster and I had to go on it um two two times in a row just very very sick so I couldn't do it again um so we had to come back and film me on the Rader coaster separately several months later did you actually throw up or did you just you were very white you lost all your colors revers but I remember when we were doing this scene I just sort of thought that we were going to that the whole idea of this with filming at thought Park would just be like a little bit of filming and then we just walk around the park so when we were filming this obviously they say cut just before we get in there and I was just like just want to get in there come on we did have a uh a moment where we were on lunch and we got amazing put to the front of the queue for stealth and that was absolutely brilliant ride i' still still got a photo on my wall yeah yeah we yeah we that was an undeserved privilege now Joe would you say that car door was light or heavy oh it was um I tell you what Not only was it light it also didn't have a really sharp edge that guillotined its way into my flesh as I held over my shoulder now this is a good this is a very nice little moment Blake could you say it was hot or cold ins um it was pretty warm yes pretty warm wait what why are you so wet sweating so badly in that thing there and this that was just in th Park and people were just staring this was a pick up day this is a pickup day that we did a lot later and what you can't see there of course is pl's absolutely massive P the funny thing was was that obviously to cover up my man at the front of me they gave me like a flesh colored kind of pouch and what it actually looked like with that that with double-sided tape on it so you couldn't actually see my Gentleman vegetables or or anything of that so but uh it just looked like if anyone seen Dogma Alan Rickman as the Angel that's kind of like a unic it actually looked like that which immediately compar on Angel it was like seeing Jesus but as if he was even better what's happened always doing this around funkers they me my clothes what are you going to do I don't know last what is going to happen now that you've they've nicked your clothes I'm amazed at how comfortable me being know no he likes it doesn't he's an animal he doesn't occur to him to oh right in the face and here comes a big laugh from Simon his head I think we should have seen more [ __ ] I don't know whether that's I think we should have gone right up there the camera we should have filmed into it with one of those funny cameras that's on like an optical yeah that's what we should have seen right talking about hairy things looky things there I think you were asked to take off the monkey suit weren't you generally people that are just on a day out at for Park walking around going what are these cameras about and why is there a strange man in Speedos just wondering about so that was really embarrassing got a few wolf whistles and uh yeah few things like that what's funny was that we had to close Nemesis Inferno for a morning while we filmed on it so in return we brought in our own sort of Attraction for people to to enjoy and there it is is in a very strange position you're only interested in roller coaster and actually they've asked actually brought back instead of Nemesis Inferno just a little boo the Blake in and you pay for that Blake didn't do it he didn't do it did you you weren't up for that no I W up for going back and just being in my Speedos with my goat legs out making money out of that well Blake's an artist what are you doing at the moment Blake What's you up at the moment um yeah scare chamber at mad and two swords so if you go through there and someone goes up to you and you know shouts you maybe snorts in your ear are mad two swords doing any deals or anything at the moment um any any deals don't think so no uh it's uh quite expensive there you can't say that I think we're rela I think that's a fair statement to say it's expensive I'm not saying it's worth it it's worth it so one more at the front how can they possibly at this point in time I was literally so excited cuz I was about to go on Nemesis Inferno yeah I couldn't wait for this little bit of dialog to be over on the other was genuinely excited petrified of course um it was Simon's big speech and they usually take a long time to get is that fair to say that's fair yeah this is a bloody good ride are they so dumb they think it's okay to push in but um you can't argue with that result so it's the last ride of the day please get on it's the last ride of the day well we better get on there quick come on will please you always you talk too much you're at the front you know doesn't matter thatas I don't recommend going on a roller coaster in just Speedos are quite constricting cuz uh there was a bit of chage going on the main way that they pull you into the roller coaster is sort of VI your groin isn't it there a strap that kind of goes round I felt so ill at this stage God this is so much fun Tim and the boys in front of me absolutely loved the rad I don't think he supposed to be he feels bad so much and certainly in comparison to Simon for whom it was like sort of punishment that he kept to do over and over again for some reason me James and Joe were absolutely wetting ourselves going on that ride because Joe decided to say the name Nemesis Inferno in a very funny voice it was classic weird J get that for free if you if you if you want occasional weirdness then I'll do that because we were all sort of we were basically told just go on the ride you don't really have to act when you're on a ride because you're just going to enjoy it and scream uh Joe just decided to scream the word nemesis that's what I'd do if I was on a ride they say don't act they've got to be prepared for my little songs myself yeah that is a problem that's Be Ma they want look at Blake's p doulas fur it's absolutely beautiful make a telegraph pole out of that what's the story behind that Blake is that uh I'm just uh just forunate a fortunate man and uh I am single well you don't have weekends her parents were upstairs waiting I really liked the cardigan I was wearing in this scene I never got to keep it I don't know what was going on with it but I wanted it for ages what my cardigan the brown card I've got a gray I've got a black I thought you know Brown would go really nicely that' be good but um you know didn't uh you to invite there uh didn't get to keep it Jay in the background being normal it's weird what's that all about wend did you have any more beer I think there's a box of my dad's small beers left but don't drink it all cuz Charlotte hinchcliff and her mates will be here soon oh bloody hell Jesus caty calm down I just want a beer I just want a drink Charlotte hinchliff oh I'd make her C all over my face good straighten that's crude straighten very bit cuz they thought that there was some kind of weird buzzing going on in the room which is just me why are they all this is that's our um our attempted a catch phrase yeah friends I think the irony is is that um I can do it pretty well I don't have to say it no I could do it the best but I did it in a way that was right here they are is Emily o she has turned up this is now offici part BL try hurt and that they did that take where I sort of really struggle at the end Jay here claimed to be funnier than will I am and actually without undressing well this is and you'd never heard the Crazy Frog till about um a minute before this pretty good impression I had I had purposely not listened to him because Mr Frog whenever he came on for like intervie you turn it off if it was like Radio 4 as much as you're watching me I think that's fair to say it's like the first film that dairo and Pacino to see them together is just absolutely extraordinary jup fighting who is that boy this is for the ladies look at that chest look that is man told you not boy did you call me he should be no no God no are you all right awward away like no no sorry no I meant I know what you meant so what was kind of the process with this did you have like your undies on and stuff oh no I was we were both completely naked and um we had full sex well done and um you got to be method nowadays I I don't want to me don't want blow my own trampet but I I was very very good well this move that you do here is almost unheard of I've never seen this before yeah well this is a little this is a bird creation yeah it's just the way I work it um that's how Ian virginity go on do it and lost here on a Long Leash and then build it back in again just my I know it's fair I don't the irony is is that before I read but he there was quite a few on liners that just left us all in stitches throughout the whole process don't pick that one oh don't disappointed especially when he sees those Beauties look at look then that to I don't really know bye see you later hello and welcome to episode 6 commentary of The Inbetweeners I am Ian Morris I'm Damon Beasley and we we wrote it didn't we together yes we did we had the idea probably about four years ago we wanted to write a sitcom together um yeah it was four years four years I was working at Channel 4 year working at E4 I was working E4 at the time which uh who end up commissioning it that how do we ever get this on how do we ever make the conts just the the quality of the work Sean through really the door didn't it to be fair though we did have to I did actually have to sit in a pitch meeting and go this is the idea this is what I want to write and they say they didn't say have a series or even have a pilot they went have one episode so that's what happen you get to write a script first and then if they like that script they ask you to write some more scripts or do a pilot of that script yeah or I to they asked to write another script of something slightly different because they didn't feel that this is necessarily what would say they Caroline lady who's particularly brilliant and supportive commissioning editor um said that yeah to write something different and then came we came back to this didn't we yeah we did write something different which was about sort of four boys but they were 29 years old there's a theme in all of that work it wasn't quite as good this is shot this is the first shot of the first yeah first scene the first day of our first shoot so and it's s on TS which is about three miles from where I grew up it's been 18 years CH the first time so Martin interestingly this is a Martin we found the guy who plays the the dad Simon's dad he uh he was auditioned two days before we shot that because uh the original Simon's dad couldn't do it pulled out we had to meet a guy on a Saturday when we were shooting it on the Monday and there was no one else to see turned out he was brilliant totally brilliant absolutely couldn't nailed it more but yeah we did have a you know choice of one Hobson's choice Hobson's choice but it's funny because he uh we were sitting in the room where we auditioned him with the producer Chris and he read it and I'm thinking he seems brilliant to me but maybe it's because he can read and it's on Monday and I'm absolutely terrified Chris just went I think we couldn't confer to each other about what we thought about him so Chris just went offered him the job so this scene second scene we shot second consuming shot this is interesting this is sort of loosely this guy runs a shot it's Loosely based on a character Ian met when he was attending a wedding I think it was in India Delhi yeah I met me and my friend Alexis went to my friend Jazz Deep's wedding and actually this character is called Jazz deep after Jazz de sethy my friend and uh we went to buy some suits in India and the long the short of it was that the man brought us a succession of unbelievably hideous suits and uh and would always I think he knew they were hideous but just keep he's just trying to Palm off his old stock on us basically and he' sort of go to jazzi to Jazzy to jai and we go yes to Jazz and eventually I found a dark blue suit I liked had brass buttons on it so I got him to take the buttons off and then asked him to do that and he actually said a line which I think we cut from the end of this where he said you my friend are totally out of fashion that's Ian Morris doing Indian accent well legitimate use of it Lang Delhi R Park Raj Park comprehensive yeah funny when you're making filthy sitcoms about schools it's schol real schools aren't so Keen for you'd have yeah Miss Tims of course interestingly that's my car that's your car so should we talk about how we wrote this episode we did the reproduction a bit we should just comment on what's Happening I don't mind me I'm happy either way I'm just wondering what people will enjoy listening to I think it's easier to sort of talk as we see it inspires my uh my old P teacher was called Mr Tims and he's a fantastic bloke so a slight nod to him there used he was really fit obv subex sub subtext there is we shot this in uh rice oh rice I think yeah it was uh lot of we I mean they were a wonderfully supportive and helpful establishment they were amazing and it seemed like a great skill to be honest with it was supposed to look a bit terrifying because it's world's first score so hopefully in episode one that comes across a bit although it does just look like a really brand well it is Spanky new school but um maybe the hopefully the idea of being scared against when you starts sorry uh to form in one's frontal lobe um Charlotte hinchcliff that's who yeah she only F girl at school that's not true a b we go wait for it classic line coming up it's not [ __ ] true people don't get fingered for a there you go fingered um exception of your so we we in terms of writing things we just think of them in our brains don't we write them down we do a sort of vague storyline yeah through Caroline Le and Chris do you know we started with an anecdote file actually we had an idea characters and what we wanted to do but we started with an anecdote file which was everything that had ever happened to us that we thought might be funny um certainly tragic and then uh yeah we sort of used that as the bible really to to build the stories and it it felt natural that you know will as a character would come from another world um you know and he was going to be our kind of guide through this but interestingly we didn't have a lot of VoiceOver on it when we wrote it did we that's something that's come further through the production one of weird things where you we had voice over at the beginning we had voice over at the end and then when you start to have when you start to play it through you think it seems really it just for me it felt really weird just having voice over at the beginning you suddenly think actually I think voice really helps but I was quite I mean I was skeptical when we first wrote script about whether we needed voiceover but now yeah sort I love it really hated it you're anti weight and tears and stuff this is uh John John seaw yeah John Seward he's playing Big John he came the original audition OT and I think for the pilot and and we just thought he was such a sort of funny character and you know it's a great warmth about him as well but he is hilarious he made us laugh cuz he came back for a recall and the commissioning editor Caroline Le he walked in shook a hand he said can't believe you asked me back I thought I was rubbish thought I was rubbish we oh John so when we we did the series we thought of a character that John maybe could John could play yeah it's a bit of a stretch he's called John you're [ __ ] at great he's good John yeah he's brilliant party this is the first ever Christmas J lying there Tea Party what we want is a good so I actually organized a Christmas proom at my school if anyone's interested and it was horrific I've know great fun I mean in a way but kind of just I mean like I think we found like we one things where but we found girls pants and there were piles were sick everywhere the next day and everyone be drunk and one of the school to a boy school yeah girls like obviously the girls was like I've organized the Christmas party it's just boys here's the good news and it's uh yeah it was pretty it was pretty but then I didn't see any of that I literally I mean some girls must have their pants off because we found girls pants the next day and we were Tiding up but I didn't sounds amazing I slightly older than you and I mean a few years but I think it might be a it might be a posh thing because I remember when I was young watching yeah I was I was watching these news reports abouts and all these Posh kids went there and they like oh they're having sex under the table and it's really wild I thinking that's not happening at an House Parties I I mean I went to get Crush ball once and I wandered around like just yeah I've seen what you look like so when you were that age that's that's when you I love this SC it's my favorite SC Simon all right boy boner brilliant yeah thanks just goes Jerry mop we found an open audition and she came in and we were actually auditioning for the four main boys at that point and she came along anyway cuz I don't think it be made that clear in the advert and uh so we got her to read for the part of Simon and she was brilliant she's great I mean we SP a little bit about the casting process which is that over the pilot and the series we probably saw you know of you know anyone playing age 16 17 18 well I reckon it's got be thousand people I Reon yeah and so would say what I would say while we're here uh is that we really appreciate everyone for coming so thank you to all the people that didn't get the parts they won't be buying the DVD lining our pockets they might do there's a guy on a tube train actually who's incredibly nice but I think surname was C what he' been and he came with one of the really early ones and he was very good actor I think we took his Sur did we I think we took C like so much he so nice remember he was good a blonde head guy yeah strawberry blonde yeah yeah strawberry blonde and uh the chips oh what yeah I used do that every day we just eat our chips on the way to the till and then you wouldn't have to pay for them Christmas Greg Davis first person cast he was in we were developing a script with Greg and myself and M we found out we got the show and he was sitting behind us we went do you want to be teacher yeah if he think you're brilliant he's brilliant it wasn't just lazy casting he's he he'd been a teacher for 14 years yeah we didn't know that we found out afterwards that he was a teacher of course and Greg's also in a a really really funny uh sketch act called We Are CL amazing and uh they're always the funniest thing at Edinburgh Festival if you ever got there watch them they're on the wall as well which is this new I think Li 3 comedy show and uh they're great on that two but this is funny because he said that he went through this scene the day before with his flatmate who was a teacher yeah and said that his flatmate went what I mean by oh my God this is exactly the S thing I say oh god I think I'm being really funny when I say this but if I see anything nice differential in height there we like that 68 and Simon B I think he's 52 is he I think he's about 4 fo4 actually didn't we get from the the dwarf agency or M agency I can't remember yeah Willow that was him yeah was either him or Kenny Baker but Kenny Baker was not will no he's unavailable Kenny so thanks pH we tried also we tried to have consistent the supporting artists here are you'll notice them around the school the whole time try to have consistency for them it's just cuz the Dan is all time so I assumed well you assumed wrong will I like this bit this is a funny I shouldn't really say that a b and stuff I do like this it makes me laugh a lot okay it's great performance yeah very Mr Gilbert that's that one of my favorite lines in the whole series Mr Gilbert say Thank you Mr Gilbert thank you Mr Gilbert better weirdly Maximo Park uh poster there who I was obsessed with for about a year live Brook Academy get posters on the wall I mean this is probably just a boring production detail but it's not as easy as you think everything has to be cleared of course so uh some of these you know some of these posters need to be clearable and it can be very expensive to clear photography so uh yeah I mean the one Richard design designer did a fantastic job this is this isn't a common room this is just a room it's just like an empty room in a that was a teachers no it wasn't there was nothing we built a kitchen buil I should uh pay attention when we do should really technical reies looks like they're setting up the prom yeah they are John put some crisp out record miles miles miles was where he came to one of the auditions wasn't an open one but we liked him so much he thought he'd be a brilliant little character to have in the show yeah where are the toilet signs we're in this is kind of based on well supp Loosely Wills based on me so this is the kind of thing I do which is get really stressed and worried and angry and annoyed about stuff how can this be happening but then you know the next minute I'm lovely so it's fine fine um of course I am single fine it looks good uh that's not because you get stressed up this is good what I like about this scene is the essay's nailing the camera D you get what I like about as bless him but it was actually easier to not look at the camera than it to look at the camera here we go okay what's this one going to do wait a minute where are we I'm on the Bell I'm on wait wait ding ding there it is it thanks for nailing the camera everyone yeah but that's kind thing when you sit and edit we edit this for no one else noticed that we flagged it up now flaged it up four or five months Ed you end up looking at almost anything except the tell me what it is yet except the thing here we go yeah this is this is Blake Harrison wore this actually the very first audition this is what he just came dressed in and we thought I mean it's weird that he dresses like that but it would be very funny if we incorporate that into the show he's a bit like he's dancing in episode five he he can really dance so we liked him dancing so this he really does wear these kind of clothes so we like him to wear them because your [ __ ] is minc stop looking at my [ __ ] there a lot of discussion about Blake [ __ ] actually so prob naked Speedos he's in some Speedos obviously that's two isn't it no three is it thought Park oh thought Park yeah so plenty of opportunities to check it out check it out yeah three F3 don't go to2 we haven't put any of [ __ ] is the band Transformer are they Transformer once or Transformer transform anyone even knew I think I called them Transformer Transformer I think wrong you call them wrong so they're Transformer and they're from Brighton um and they came out and they did this it was uh I think they were fantastic actually they really I booked I booked a band for my school prom and they were kind of like a rock band like a local rock band I was quite impressed with and everyone hated it and I remember kid came up to him went bad as [ __ ] aren't they and I almost swung for him I like so angry about how the evening is pretty much being killed by a band Book St nice with the tong eating burgers with her Tong John he stressed eat food you see did you get it and to be honest I think it's a pretty good this is funny though cuz when you shoot this obviously we don't have music playing in the background so it's in a childish way I still find it quite amusing watching those people dancing around knowing that there was no music there obviously we've asked them and paid them to do that so there's actually yeah Miss Tims M Mr Tim wear a dress like that yeah this episode was kind of I suppose it's the last episode of the series it was a party it kind of made sense it wasn't you know it's not you know hopefully they've all got yeah to the second you know drive and a storyline through it so will want part be a success and Simon you know wants to tell Carly how he feels which is terrible idea of course Jay wants to D and Neil Neil's a simple simple guy Dutch [ __ ] Dutch [ __ ] all [Music] right there they go when they came up to just do the tech rehearsal he broke remember the really old kind of cool car Al broke down obviously he stuck stuck in P of all my throat he didn't get back did he no I have to say that all again this episode all the say all came in their own gear and they all stood there dancing with no music like that for hours yeah and so thank you to all of them hello stranger she is Emily HFF em Tech Emily at Tech she's very good why we can ask him to dance joke there for M girl no no I wasn't you're right dry up a bit now yeah always what what minute we we're about 16 minutes through about 6 minut about right Second Wind coming don't worry it's been nice she's great Emily actually Mara shander who does the music on the show we should mention her yeah got massively important person in the whole sort of evolution of the program is Mara Mara came in at quite a late stage and helped us with the music um so everything that you hear I mean she just gave us all the all the tracks and suggestions that she thought and S create the sound for the show so so there's no question that we didn't I mean also I mean yeah you know Gordon Anderson who was like wonderful director he did a sort of pass with music I think at the beginning had say some of the tracks he had but then Marsh basically came in and went look here has three or four ideas for each sorry just did one na the camera uh you know she and she um yeah she did a lot of yeah she basically would look to look at the how it made her feel think about music made her feel like that and give us lots of options so so she does a brilliant radio show on Xfm the weekends she just you know she's really got her finger on the pulse as far as new music goes so she made it I think she gave it a real contemporary soundtrack and you know something that us 30 something not mention right 28 probably wouldn't have been able to pull off so I think you know I think soundtrack's cool I love Marsh I like this year amazing this is a good scene isn't it yeah I like this scene this is this Jay's Jay's forking the road isn't it yeah he's got you know he's got an opportunity here you know a path that he could uh take which is not necessarily the one he's on feel special um but is he going to take it he looks he is at this moment looks like I tell you what actually when I watch this with my uh girlfriend fiance Nicole she's wonderfully supportive throughout the whole process so thank you Nicole but she she was watching this laughing her head off and going I can't believe it Jay's gonna go g i is that the interesting if anyone if anyone else saws like that then yes something some textual yeah let us know cuz we're doing this you know oh yeah yeah somehow well I think these I think what what you're good actually if I may say is that we this episode tying things up and you know end of term things is that the I supp the tendency is to try and is to go sentimental rather than to go comedic so it's almost too easy to go you know to go oh wow this is sort of I like this twist because I think it's funnier than him being friends with him [ __ ] off you fat wanker is just I mean I wonder think would you give it a wonderful kind of Poetics sort the setup there yeah set it all up that's what he says is how Jay speaks yeah that's basically what Jay would say and sort of similarly here again it's like oh God I can have a great moment then's Tom that thck bees Emily she's she was brilliant totally brilliant yeah yeah she's great she's good she was like a grownup as well even though she's the youngest of all the performers comfortably the grownup want anything in particular have you declared to like this yeah I did want something um no oh the worst thing I ever did which isn't on here this can go out this can go out is that I once bought a girl that I fancied and was friends with but she wasn't my girlfriend I once bought a a CD single or it must have been a set single and it was um Michael Jackson I just can't stop loving you I know it was so and I just I think about that now think what did you think when you got that it's the worst song you could ever get well I think it's quite a good record we've cuz here we go this is a moment in the show again no no it's nothing Simon suddenly beginning to realize botling it basically but also that maybe there is yeah this great romantic gesture isn't quite as rewarding as laughing at laughing at Neil yeah also drunkenly lunging your teacher I think is that doesn't happen at every school I think this happened that that wasn't it oh no that never happened yeah no a friend of mine might have made a teacher at our school ball who was going out the other teacher what's the problem this is good like Emily improvised this bit with with play she's very he was very good at giving him a hard time oh good hard time giving nice work uh h h i can warn you yeah so this yes Henry came in originally for uh Simon on the early pilot stage and we liked him a lot and but we thought he was too POs to interestingly at the time and then uh he came back for the auditions and reading this Donovan he nailed it we l put say you thought he was too Posh we like yeah I don't know what's happened in a year not Posh anymore yeah Richard Hart there came to the APR auditions Darcy he played Jane the original pilot so we s Tred to keep brilliant we love him we had lots of people come to auditions and them were really good there's a lot of sort of you know young Talent out there as Simon Cal is discovering and old Talent of course I sort of knew that I'd have to say a few words of thank oh well he can't stop himself can't stop himself from being a [ __ ] they're off we dickhead's interesting is it that was one of the names suggested for the show which we really liked until everyone pointed out you you you couldn't list it in a TV listings magazine is [ __ ] so it's kind of self defeating when you're wanting to publicize the show inous jamere of ad this is interesting I shot this it started raining because I had to go and do this on a second unit and uh it really started raining after we'd not got a lot of material so we had to uh sort of cob all this scene together but I think it just about works I think it works what I like about it as well is it's that again it's that thing where could be a very sweet sentimental scene and then right at the end it uh we put J in really Dary was doing a lot of snugging at that girl get a room no one asked him to no no kept doing it here we go sentimental last scene yeah also featuring [ __ ] jokes spot night tonight see originally the idea for this would have been impractical to film was uh I remember we used to get on the cricket Nets which were outside and we' just lay on them After parties and be drunk and it was just a nice play but that idea of justy laying somewhere on school property but away from the madness we used to go in in the common room and just sort of kiss kiss yeah Bas kiss a lot did a lot of kissing it was it wasn't a really po boy school and also this thing about boy school that everyone assumes that you are automatically homosexual whereas and of course I should point out that some of my friends from school are but it wasn't like it was just like a constant jamere of homosexuality I only said kiss that's all I said to men that's there you go there's the suit again it's a good shot this isn't it yeah it's great CR snugging you he's quite sweet as well off the sort of you know the noise and everything are you looking forward to biology next time not really it should be interesting o I think this might be one of the one of the most extraordinary final lines in the series yeah no yeah I don't think the first series of the office or 40 Towers ended with I've not cleaned my car [ __ ] yet so does this count not AOW and we had a long long long discussion about which piece of music should end the show didn't we got aob stage I don't know if you got the right choice but I think it's good I think it worked it's quite tricky actually I mean the music clearances are really we're quite sort of restricted in what we can and can't use but I think it sort of works um but this is you know I think coming towards the end of it and it's interesting to they really did become quite a little B they were a little band mates yes they I think they couldn't believe that luck they're told to bounce up and down and muck about on a trampoline cuz that's sort of what they want to do anyway and I think we should point out how grateful we are to the four of them yeah no they've uh doing a great job breath life into this and that's always the trickiest C I think we go there they are bouncing around okay he's gone down he's down he's down the Bund Bund bundles bundles bundle everyone loves the bundle there it is Graphics they were done by addiction TV did a great job on our titles for us I think all the nice people that work the show thank everyone y good the band Transformer once that that question aronian house to WR in in Devon yeah yeah it was Dorset but it was Deon long away well done well done Chris Young nson they've been brilliant but that's actually Chris Young doing the noise of the chicken sort of the noise of a chicken we're not we not sure yeah that's it
