First, tonight, a global computer outage impacting millions of Americans on Friday that includes banks, hospitals, 911 call systems and the airline industry still dealing with the aftermath. Now FlightAware is reporting SeaTac international Airport has 310 flights that are delayed and 65 that are canceled. Thanks for joining us for the news at five. I'm Frankie Thompson, cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike says an error in systems update for Microsoft Windows caused the chaos, not hackers. Reporter Madison Scarpino has the latest on the outages impacts. >> Reporter some businesses back up and running today after what's believed to be one of the biggest I.T. outages in history, airlines were hit, especially hard. Flight tracking website FlightAware showed more than 3000 flight cancellations on Friday alone. Terminals piled up quickly with stranded passengers. >> I feel awful for everybody who's flights are getting canceled. People going to things like funerals or stuff of that situation. This is unacceptable. >> It's been a fun morning. Microsoft is making our day great issues. >> First arose Friday when cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike sent out a faulty software update that crashed computers running windows all across the world, terminals booting up to the infamous Blue Screen of Death, making it near impossible for some businesses to function. Hospitals and doctors offices forced to delay, divert or cancel appointments and operations entirely, with nurses and staff unable to access patient health records and schedules. >> We do have wound camera phones that are iPhones, which were allowed to give medications on, but other than that, we don't have access to patient charts. >> CrowdStrike says it is rolling out a fix, but that it will take time. Meanwhile many asking what can be done to prevent this from happening again. >> How did we allow for one company, one entity, to control whether or not America and the rest of the world can be in business? How did this happen? >> Airlines are trying to get back on schedule, but problems still persist. There's been more than 1000 flights canceled already today in New York. Madison Scarpino Fox News. >> Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is hopeful by the end of the day, all flights will be back on track. In the meantime, he's reminding travelers of what you are owed. If your flight is canceled, he says, you are entitled to your money back promptly.
