USA vs CANADA - Match Watch Along

hello guys and welcome to football Fen UK hope you guys doing well this evening welcome to the show hopefully you guys looking forward to this one it's a friendly uh out there in the USA as USA national team takes on Canadian national team in a friendly game I think I already said that but uh yep hopefully it's going to be a good game guys teams on the field doing the pleasantries so we should be off on way in a moment Ben is with us how are you doing Ben welcome to the show mate Ben saying hello mate how you doing Ben hope you're doing well mate I how you having a good weekend hopefully so obviously not as enjoyable as a club football weekend but uh still at least we got some football to enjoy uh welcome to the show mate [Applause] so Canada just doing national anthem so yeah if you've got a score prediction for this one guys let me know it's uh very sunny out there in the USA uh where this game's been held I believe it's Kansas City where the game's being held uh not a full Stadium um and it's not one of the USA's biggest stadiums either but uh a reasonable attendance say the stadiums are probably about half full so hopefully I'm going to get a few uh goals in this one I should imagine it's going to be quite an enjoyable game as Canada and USA know each other quite well and Jamie's with us how you doing Jamie welcome to the show mate Jamie saying hello uh that uh America makes such a big thing of any sporting event fireworks going off uh around the ground uh which is very unusual for a friendly uh but hopefully it will be an enjoyable game anyway uh Jamie saying hi Ben awesome thank you Jamie and Ben saying seems looks uh seems looks like an interesting match I see it being 31 Canada um brace from Jonathan David and a goal from Alonso uh Davis and an and a goal from pulit well yeah could be mate but uh obviously yeah Canada did well obviously in the uh conquer calf didn't they they did quite well they got all the way to the semifinals if I remember correctly um obviously America saying they've probably been underachieving a a little bit recently so uh I think they've got some questions to answer towards their fans uh with regards to whether they're going to be competitive enough but uh should be a good game it should be a good game obviously I would lean towards potentially uh United States winning this one just simply because they're playing it at home so obviously it's home game for them and as we know guys Home Advantage can sometimes play a big part in games but uh I think more than likely it's more more likely you're obviously intently as much but obviously since I've been building fonden uh I've watched them a couple of times both teams uh Canada did well as you know I think you was with me Jamie when we watched in the coner conquer c um uh tournament so yeah uh I think Canada is gradually improving we know that USA's got some decent players but obviously they yet to uh uh really Flex their muscles properly on the international stage in respect of competitively so we're off and underway as the ball knocked out wide on this near side and uh it's uh the ball played forward there he's just gone out of play uh United States playing in uh a red and blue strip Canada playing in a red and white strip well it's mostly right white with uh red collar red um red cuffs um but mostly white um chat sports with us played in behind the Canadian defense as Canada trying to get back here USA pushed out wide on this near side Canada challenge for it they managed to win it back as they knock it out to this near side headed back in the uh Direction it came from as uh eventually it's come out a play again on this near side as Canada challenge for it that'll be a throw into the USA Midway inside their own half of the field on this near side now the ball back in play as both sets of plays trying to win it there and the referee blows for a foul uh Jamie is saying I got it on it looks so hot out out there wish England got that summer uh we got rain at the moment yeah well we're not in summer anymore Jamie I we're going into uh we're going into autum now mate so uh the L dark Knight's coming in Oh Canada with a shot there as the goalkeeper makes the save well that was a fantastic save by The Keeper as the ball knocked behind or quickly moved forward by Conor but you're right Jamie looks like really nice weather out there in Kansas City I believe the game being played today so corner on the far side for Canada and chat Sport with a thumbs up awesome top man and B is saying Canada playing uh a bit of uh attacking formation well Canada actually lined up with a 451 i' would say that's slight more defensive but obviously 451 formation could be easily uh pushed into an attacking formation so thank you yep you're right in a way Ben now the US on the attack as they play the ball out wide on that Far Side Canada quickly come to press the ball us just play it back to the goalkeeper there Canada looking uh to press the ball really well from the front now us play it out wide on this near side as Canada try a challenge for it it's knocked forward and rolls out a play on this near side for a throw in so thank you Ben and Jamie saying that ref for an England the England game uh was a joke it was stop start well I didn't watch all of it as you know I watched some of it as you know I was taking my lovely lady to work so I only managed to watch half of the game and now the US play Oh they've lost it here as Canada now with the possession coming forward ball worked out wide on this near side as uh the US challenged for it Canada managing to keep it it's now they come towards the edge of the Box ball chipped in as it's towards the back po trying to get the shot off but it h the side netting and that will be a goal kick goal kick for the us but yeah thank you for that Jamie I I didn't really look at the ref like I say I was uh I was watching it of a of a fashion if you like while I was in but I was also trying to have uh some to eat at the same time as well so just been a really busy day it always is on Saturdays I never get to actually watch and enjoy games CU I'm too busy play out from the back I say just knocking it about on the edge of the own box at the minute let's uh just spare me second guys flipping things having a wobble up it's been perfectly fine in the buildup and now all of a sudden it decides to uh start being difficult Jo give me there we go so the US with the possession on the halfway line the ball played forward Canada trying to challenge for it it's knocked out wide on this near side as Canada come to press the ball us just play it back into the center circle now knocking the ball forward Canada challenge for it Canada now with the possession it's worked out wide on that Far Side now coming towards the edge of the box is a well I'm not sure if that was a crossover shot but the goalkeeper manages to intercept it comfortably and that released the pressure momentarily for the US uh Ben say not a a a fan of Technology uh then G no I'm not mate no it's not my generation your generation probably is because your generation uh grew up with it as just as as a normal thing but uh no my generation didn't have all this internet when we was kids it was just being introduced when I was leaving school um the internet I remember the teachers um saying that we couldn't take the exam because we hadn't had enough time uh to study for it they were installing the computers in my school in my last year of school so I didn't grow up with it like you guys did well some of you guys did that are younger fans now the US with the possession Midway in inside their own half uh Jamie is saying I don't know who all them players are well I've not looked obviously I've not looked at all the names of the on the team sheet m now us with the ball played out wide on that Far Side they come forward here Canada trying to challenge for it us managing to uh retain it but uh eventually the referee is blown for a foul so fre on the far side uh Jamie saying Ben you got uh you got this game on mate I think he's playing his computer game at the same time as listening in Jamie I think uh Jamie saying I never uh grew up with uh technology no me neither Jamie what about the most I think the furthest we got to technology was the Sega Mega Drive or the Master System these kids today probably wouldn't even know what that is actually now the US playing the ball into the center Canada pressing the ball from the front the US now just knocking it about outside the RO box uh Ben saying don't have the game no worries Ben well hopefully we keep you informed as best we can yeah you playing the game no worries mate no worries now the US with the possession I see Play it Forward worked out wide on this near side as Canada come to challenge the US managing to work through the Press there but as they challenged again second time Canada managed to win it back now Canada playing it into Ed the center circle but forced to play it back to the center backs on the edge of the own box as the US pressing well from the front challenge oh that's a poor challenge there and the referee's going to give the foul so free kick to Canada uh just inside their own half just outside the edge of the center circle now Canada coming forward again ball worked out wide on this near side us trying to challenge Canada but Canada managing to work the ball forward as eventually it's headed out a play on this near side by the us and that will be a throwing to Canada deep inside the US half of the field uh Jamie saying yep some kids uh think what that what is that I know yeah yeah I know there wasn't no uh like Ben's play in the career mode now on the FIFA which is uh I think on Playstation Xbox whatever uh but when we was kids there wasn't even PlayStation PlayStation hadn't even come out yet had it I think it came out when I was about 18 oh the on the attack now as they race forward Canada trying to make the challenge but us still with the possession as they come towards the edge of the Box Canada making the challenge and well the referee blows for another foul to Canada just right on the edge of the Box inside the D but yeah I don't like to say I don't think play I'm sure PlayStation come out when I was about 18 so when I was a kid who didn't even have PlayStation never mind career mode now the ball worked out wide on this near side as Canada trying to come forward the US challenge for it Canada uh managing to well some Scrappy challenges here but uh the US Come Away with it now the ball played back out wide on this near side it's chipped forward as the us trying to keep it in play there under pressure from Canada Canada make the challenge they W it back here as Canada now just outside their own box on this near side the US challenged for it but the ball knocked long down the field by Canada as the US Master System and what was the other one Nintendo you probably heard of Nintendo Mario and all that you probably heard of that well uh when we was kids when obviously Jamie's around the same age as me when we were kids uh it was uh Nintendo and Sega that was the top uh computer consoles to play on uh Playstation came a couple of years after now Canada with the possession on that Far Side ball played in towards the edge of the center circle it's knocked out wide on this near side as Canada now with the possession just outside the US box box it's played forward towards the by line ball crossed in knocked away as the ball Loops up into the air bounces out towards his near side Canada managing to come away with it now Canada come towards the edge of the Box again ball played in as Canada with the shots and he just goes wide of the far post decent effort just couldn't quite Get It On Target as it was curling away as he hit it on the volet that was a really good effort actually just couldn't get it on target uh Benny saying can imagine it being a massive Stadium uh it at it's in no no it's not actually mate it's in it's in one of the US's smaller stadiums so it's not actually probably the equivalent I'm trying to think of the uh of uh I I would say a similar size to probably maybe Sheffield United Stadium Sheffield Wednesday something like that it's not one of the US's big Stadium obviously the US have got some huge stadiums haven't they but this is certainly not one of their biggest stadiums uh that the game's being played him oh now Canada winning the ball back coming in towards the Ed shot G off oh and the ball Ling hard into the back of the net as Canada take the [Music] lead chelberg with the goal 16 and a half minutes gone it's the USA nil Canada one and it's sherberg with the goal yeah that's playing out from the back for the US they had the ball on the edge of the Box played It Forward uh didn't intercept the ball very well and as the ball was rolling loose Canada won it back played it quickly into the box knocked it on and then the ball smashed straight into the back of the net low and hard sloppy uh sloppy play at the back from the USA and Canada ruthlessly ruthlessly capitalize py saying can imagine I read that one uh Jamie saying uh Jamie's laughing at Ben thank you Jamie uh jery saying hello who's watching football fan then Jamie well Ben saying I feel clueless well a big clue for you Ben to understand the me uh Sega Master System you've seen Sonic well Sonic started on the Master System on the Sega Master System that's where Sonic started that was what made it famous you know how famous Sonic the Hedgehog is are the the game Sonic well it started on on Sega when we was kids that's where it started so in other words it was our generation uh that made SE uh made so um Sonic the Hedgehog and uh Mario uh popular ball played forward on this side as Canada challenged for it the US managing to retain The Possession though as they play it back into the middle now it's worked out wide on that far side as uh the ball just cut back there towards the edge of the center circle now the US under pressure as Canada tried to challenge for it ball just played back into the US half as it's played all the way back to the go keeper has come out of his area to intercept that now the ball worked out wide on that far side again as us tried to build from the back now the ball played out wide on this near side as the US come forward Canada challenge for it they won it back again here Canada now they knock it Forward us trying to challenge for it they've won it back the US now trying to come forward down the middle Scrappy challenges going in here the US managed to chop it cross it into the box now the US with the shots as it just goes wide of this near side post and it's pich with the effort just couldn't get it on target uh Ben is saying uh well massive gaming uh think uh them then are console yeah well check it out Ben just Google it or or YouTube it I'm sure somebody will show you a mass probably YouTube's best thing to do uh if you look on YouTube I'm sure put in um Sega consoles I'm sure it'll come up with it mate I'm sure it'll come up with it now the ball that's probably still got one you know cuz my dad loves gaming he's he's he's got almost every damn console that's ever been made he like he's honest he's a fanatic with it so we just got players coming across here for a water break while we've got a stoppage in play Canadian player just receiving treatment hopefully he's going to be okay here through injury so Laria it looks to be coming on for Canada now the US play forward up towards the Ed of the Box Canada uh getting back to make the challenge as they just see the ball out of play there and that will be a goal kick for Canada pulit trying to get him behind the Canada Defense but as I say the Canadian Defenders sticking with him all the way there managing to Marshall the ball out of play so goal kick for Canada uh Jam is saying B Google or YouTube uh got it uh got it on thank you jam uh Ben saying thanks I'll have a look uh at it uh Sega afterwards or tomorrow no worries Ben Y no worries mate now Canada with the possession on this near side it's knocked long down the field us knock it back in the direction it came from as well Canada eventually headed out of play on this near side for a throw in so throw to the US pretty much bang on the halfway line now the ball back in play as both sets of players trying to challenge for it there it's Canada that Come Away With It they chip it forward but quickly charged down by the us as eventually the ball knocked all the way back to the US goalkeeper on the edge of the box now the ball played forward down the middle as us try and build again from inside their own half long Crossfield ball out to that far side but nobody there to get on the end of it as it just goes out of play for a throwing in uh to Canada Canada take the throwing quickly ball back in play and so us Challenge and a clumsy challenge sees the referee blow the whistle for a foul so free kick to Canada on the far side of the field uh Jer saying if you uh if your dad still got it uh that's uh going to be worth a bit I don't know if he has I just know he's got I know he's got a lot of all he's he's he's a big he loves gaming he's not obviously now he's getting on so he's not playing them as much as he used to but I know he's he's got a fair collection of consoles I'm not sure if he's got the Mega Drive don't um but I know he's I'll have to ask him when I when I when I see him he's on holiday at the moment now but I'll certainly ask him when I see him if he's still got a Master System now the US have got a free kick here up free kick taken shot ball played forward Canada managed to win it back as they now play it long down this near side racing to edge of the box as they attack it right to the by line ball crossed in it's deep headed back into the middle of the Box by Canada knocked Away by the us as the ball blasted up the field Canada uh regained The Possession on the edge of the center circle now the ball worked out wide on that far side as Canada just cut it back playing it back again to the halfway line as the US Clos the space pressing the ball now Canada try and come again from the halfway line the ball played into the center circle it's challenged by the us as it uh deflects out wide on this near side now Canada trying to come forward but again closed down by the us as Canada just played back to their center backs now ball chipped out wide on that Far Side Canada working the ball forward here but yep you're right Jamie if he has got one it's probably worth a few quid now now the ball on that far side as Canada with the ball crossed into the box it's knocked away out to this near side and then it just rolls out of play for a throw in so throw in to Canada on this near side deep inside the US half of the field ball back in play as the US now with the possession just racing back oh there well a support challenge there by Canada and the referee's given the foul so free kick to the us on this near side Benny saying I I wouldn't want to sell uh it though uh it's something nice to have yeah absolutely yeah you're right Ben like I say I'm not I just know my my dad he's always been a big fan of gaming consoles um so I know he's kept I know he's as he's as he's as he's bought them over the years I know he's kept a lot of them so I say I'm not sure if he's got the Master System though but I know he's I know he's got some of the old ones definitely uh you probably won't remember this but I know one of my dad's favorite games Jamie might remember it is Rage racer do you remember that Jamie ball now out of play on that far side as the US with the throw in just played back to the goalkeeper now the ball worked out wide on this near side as uh Canada come to press the ball us just play it back into the middle now they work it out wide again on that far side but struggling to get out their own half here as they knock the ball forward up to the halfway line Canada challenged for it they've managed to win it back here uh the Canadians as they tried to play it forward but it deflects and eventually Canada play it all the way back to the goalkeeper now the ball knock long up the field by the keeper as both sets of players trying to win it on the halfway line clumsy challenge there by Canada no foul given as Canada now play it forward on this near side the US again trying to challenge for it they're going to get the foul there yeah so F free kick to Canada what was he thinking there the US player just pulled him down by the shirt but yep no you won my dad won't get rid of it Ben he's he's a bit of a he's uh like I say if people have hobbies everybody has Hobbies my dad's hobby is collecting them um he's got more games than a gaming shop so Canada with a free kick on this near side ball played forward as it's taken SH now it's knocked in into the center ball chipped into the box towards the back post it's headed behind and that will be a goal kick to the US uh Jamie s Ben uh to right mate never get uh one again well you can you can probably get one Jamie you just have to play a small fortune for it because it's a bit of a collector's item now a't it uh Benny saying sounds like fun uh and he'll uh and and Hell uh it and good name for a G oh rage racer yeah yeah absolutely yeah yeah it's quite a good game actually it's an old game but it is a really good it is quite a good game actually now the US with the possession inside the center circle ball worked out wide on this near side as Canada come to challenge for it and it's gone out to play again for another throw into the US Midway inside the Canadian half now the ball back in play as the US play back to to the halfway line challenged by Canada but oh as they play the ball forward the us there it's intercepted by Canada now Canada Knock It Forward racing into the box shot comes in and the goalkeeper with a big hand uh tips it over the top of the crossbar uh Jamie say I remember that that's making uh Mak him feel old I know yeah man I I feel old every day with all this technology it's just got so crazy aen it it's advancing at a rapid rate don't worry Ben you'll feel older eventually mate wait till give it another 105 years uh and you'll feel out of touch as well me the technology just moving so rapidly one of my favorite games was uh always well I've got a few but I used to like Sonic but one of my favorite games in the modern day is uh GTA GTA but I've gone off it since they just well since uh Rockstar Gaming just got greedy charging you for everything on it now so I don't play it anymore well I still play it on the PlayStation 3 but that's not in playing it live they've just got greedy with it now aren't they and it's a shame because that was a top game that or is a top game should I say so we got the ball out of play again here and that's going to be another corner to Canada I think some of the players are struggling with the hot weather out there where the game's being held in Kansas City it looks like a very hot day today out there so Canada with the corner on this near side ball crossed in it's deep towards the back post goalkeeper jumps the highest and manages to intercept it and that relieves the pressure momentarily for the us as he quickly throws the ball out wide on that fast side the US now coming forward Canada coming to press the ball but us managed to work the ball forward up towards the halfway line now a long Crossfield ball out to this near side as Canada again come to challenge for it and it's gone out of play for another throwing on this near side so many throwings in this game it's crazy now the ball just played back to the goalkeeper by the US thank you Jamie uh Jamie saying uh I was big fan of Pokemon I steal uh cards from the 80s wow interesting I didn't even know it dated that far back Jamie I didn't even know it f dated that far back got another another foul here so free kick to the US and it's a good distance from goal easily 30 yards from goal maybe more like 35 yards uh slightly out to this near side pulis to take it now crossed into the box it's headed away as the US managed to pick up the loose ball outside the box now they play it out wide on that far side as uh Canada come to press the ball us just play it back to the halfway line now the US on the edge of the center circle it's worked out wide on that far side I say now try to come forward Canada coming to challenge for it but the US managing to retain it as to play back into the center circle now the ball played forward again but again us unable to keep it as Canada Clos the spacing uh eventually the US knock it back to the center backs now it's played out wide on this near side as the ball played long down the field Canada have managed to win it back here as now Canada coming forward us trying to challenge for it Canada managing to retain it as they play it into the center circle now it's knocked out wide on that far side as the US come to press the ball but Canada just managing to keep the possession as he play it back up towards the halfway line and eventually uh back to their own goalkeeper uh Ben is saying don't say that uh let me enjoy my youth youth days yeah absolutely Ben I would always encourage you to enjoy the youth mate uh believe you me I wish I could still enjoy my youth I wish I a re you don't realize when you're young that's the problem you don't realize when you're young how precious youth is it's only when you get older that you realize uh just how pressured it precious it is uh being young because it's gone before you know it so y make the most of it Ben enjoy every moment you can make the make make the most of it get out do things enjoy things live life to the max because like I said before you know it 20 years have gone by and suddenly you're saying where the hell did those years [Laughter] go now the US with the possession as Canada tried to challenge for it us manager to keep the possession though they just Again Play it back to their own goalkeeper now the keeper plays it long straight down the middle of the field trying to get in behind the Canadian going to give the foul there and Jamie is saying it's all USA at the minute yeah absolutely yep well said jam it is mate kind of now playing the ball out wide on that Far Side us come to challenge Canada managing to work through the Press taking it to the by line now just cutting it back as they play it slightly back up the field oh the referee's going to give another foul oh this referee is definitely whistle happy Ro blown for the ball going out of play so throw into the US on the far side of the field now the ball thrown long up the field headed back in the direction it came from as Canada now with the possession but it's bouncing loose there but Canada managed to knock it forward now Canada charging forward towards the edge of the Box the US knock it away and it's gone out for a corner on this near side to the Canadians Jamie is saying this rough again I thought it'd be a full house for this game you know guys but lots of seats empty Conor comes in it's deep headed back into the mix of bodies Canada pick up the loose ball as they trying to get the shot off there but it's blocked off by the US ball eventually worked out wide on this near side as another cross comes in the US head it away and again the referee Blows the Whistle what the hell this referee just ruining this game as a contest would keep blowing the whistle we're bang on 18 minutes gone guys USA one Canada 2 now the US with the possession on the edge of the own box ball played forward it's worked out wide on this near side as Canada come to press the ball us just managing to keep the possession now it's played back into the middle ball worked forward as now the US work it out wide on that Far Side the ball challenged by Canada you managed to come away with it now Canada pressing well from the front or can oh the US just play back to the goalkeeper there now the US kick it long straight down the field trying to get in behind the Canadian defense but the goalkeeper comes out to intercept it there now Canada trying to build from the back as they knock the ball forward uh Jamie saying I think this rough uh being on coffee all morning you could be right Jamie uh Pepe coming on here for balagan I see us make the substitution but yep you could be right there Jamie he's certainly uh as the Americans put it it's probably overdosed on vitamins as the Americans say vitamins now a another fowl on towards the Ed of the Box Canadians knock it away and as now Canada with the possession charging back up towards the halfway line as they come into the US half of the field now it's played into the middle as Canada charging forward worked out wide shot comes in but it's blocked off by the us as the ball bounces out towards that far side but Canada regain The Possession well there's a tussle there and the referee's going to blow for the foul so it's going to be a free kick now the US uh coming forward again playing the ball up towards the halfway line six minutes added on time at the end credit to Canada as they managed to hold out with the pressure uh piled on them in the second half from the USA But Canada come away uh with uh a 21 Victory so let's have a look how that game has gone the CH the referee was blowing the whistle uh for some challenges that wasn't necessary to blow the whistle for uh maybe that's the referee's lack of experience I don't know uh but uh there you go uh
