welcome everybody to New Orleans and the iconic Caesars Superdome the long-term home of the Allstate Sugar Bowl which this year of course is part of the college football playoff we've reached the semi-final stage one last furtile to clear before the national championship game we'll find out here today which side has the toughness and the depth to keep driving toward that ultimate goal the chance to raise that gold trophy over their heads as we'll see the third seed in this playoff the Stanford Cardinal taking on the number two seed in the playoff the TCU horn frogs for EA Sports college football I'm Chris fower joined by Kirk KB street it's been a tremendous college football playoffs so far and it's down to this the semifinals which team will head on to the national championship [Applause] game fresh set of downs for the offense first down they're going to run it here he's brought down but a solid gain moves the ball across Midfield to the 41 just a great play by the running back here finding his lanes and then exploding through the Gap when it opened up play action here on first down tries the right with a quick throw he makes the ground gra that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down the horn frogs are in the Red Zone a hand off from the shotgun finding enough space for a solid game before this top a t to be able to pick up a nice gain like that those offensive linemen have to sustain their blocks gave him a chance at a really nice gain quarterback escapes the pocket tackled at the one yd line couldn't quite get in but an excellent run defense does a great job of taking everything away downfield this quarterback wanted to take a shot but nothing is there only problem is they didn't account for him taking off and running so he picks up the first down and the quarterback keeps it here and he gets to the end zone touchdown Texas Christian Chris this is exactly why it's so tough to defend this offense and especially this quarterback he can throw the football but we can see here this guy's ability to run and the TCU offense takes the field they really had the defense off balance in the last possession mixing the run and pass extremely well has the first down and more what a move breaking ankles and still going they'll stop him at the 34 that will be a first down this exactly how this offense envisioned this game getting started is having opportunities to be able to crease this defense and hit big plays now let's see what they can do off of it looking to throw it on first down on the Run he'll let it go but they don't make the connection that one is incomplete well this quarterback and his receivers have got to get on the same page they've got to find a rhythm if they want to move the ball down the field off play action he's looking to throw trying to extend the play looks like he's going to run it slides to avoid the big hit this is why you don't predetermine what to do with the ball as a quarterback he wants to throw this as he rolls out to his right but instead he keeps his eyes down testing the defense with a throw downfield touchdown horn frogs just ran away from the defense that's just great execution by this offense and the horn frogs offense takes the field now they punch it in the last possession can they do it again or will this defense make some adjustments to get a stop breaks a tackle on the play and makes a decent game well I would just stick with this RPO that's a really solid game and it's plays like this that eventually make that defense collapse down then you can pull it and hit a big play through the air to your receiver they actually lose yardage after the catch the defense all over him that time offense needing to keep this drive alive it's a third down play Drops back from the shotgun looking for an open man trying to create outside the pocket now Breaking Free at the 35 out of bounds after another big scramble this guy's legs has been a major weapon for the offense today and the horn fogs lining up here on First and 10 receivers now getting some new assignments before this snap and looking to throw now on first down here's a shot toward the end zone touchdown TCU this passing game is on fire today and the TCU offense is back out on the field this group has been clicking they' really built momentum the defense make adjustments come up with a stop here picks up two so it's second and eight see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front at the line of scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play after the second down incompletion they'll have to convert here on third down and eight dropping back looking to throw for the first down here's a wideopen receiver complete they bring him down but an explosive play by this offense big game what a nice find there by the quarterback on third down one of the most telling stats for me at the end of the game is how you do on third down being a good third down team is invaluable to your team's offensive success that's why you drill it so much in practice the quarterback keeps it on the option Jukes to get past a man I just love to see this offensive line in this running game able to establish themselves this back is already over yards we're in the first half so really good job of establishing the Run game opens up the play action opens up one-on-one opportunities just keep winning the battle up [Applause] front and the running back takes the hand off couldn't quite get there brought down at the two look I realize on any play call when it's properly executed it can go to the house for a touchdown but the runs that really make a game plan work are the ones where you get just what you need and he barely got the first down but he got it [Applause] here's the hand off on first and goal and he runs it into the end zone touchdown Texas Christi first down here time for one more play before the clock stops for the two-minute warning [Applause] first play of the drive they'll come out throwing looking to make a big play downfield receiver left alone down there for a huge game takes it all the way to the house touchdown horn FR and the TCU off defense takes the field it was a oneplay touchdown drive through the air last time the defense makes some adjustments here's the throw deep downfield that deep shot is caught for a big game no stopping him takes it all the way touchdown TCU well if you're going to give it to him he's going to so the first play of the drive here coming up less than two minutes left on the clock here comes a first down pass attempt he'll take a deep shot here and this is drop this would have been a huge game but he could not collect it qu operating an empty set looks like the QB is changing the play at the line he look to throw it here on second down that one Falls incomplete looking for a flag doesn't get it brings up third down they come to the line a long way to go for the first down but needing this crucial conversion right now that's a great performance in a pressure moment but now the job gets even more exciting even bigger as they go on to the national championship game and play for that Trophy and this is a new era I mean think about the weeks the amount of games that these guys have been able to play and to be able to accomplish this to get to the National Championship that says everything about the endurance of this football team both mentally and physically and they get one more hurdle to see if they can become the national champs and that is going to wrap it off we enjoyed this one here K herb street I'm Chris fer and this has been another
