Ronwen Williams Reacts To His #YachineAward Ballon d'Or Nomination

I am speechless um I've got no words to describe how I'm feeling at the moment um it's a surreal feeling um I'm still in shock um it's like it hasn't uh sunk in yet um yeah I'm just proud excited happy um not for myself more for South Africa as a whole I hope this will inspire the Next Generation Inspire the current players we just believe and chase their dreams you know and believe that as South Africans you know we can achieve the unthinkable so I'm so proud I'm happy um I don't know I can't express how I'm really feeling it's like my body has left me I've never had a feeling like this before um but I'm just proud of myself uh obviously so many people that I can thank so many coaches teammates who helped me throughout the journey this didn't start now it started years and years ago obviously thank my parents also um yeah the reaction um I couldn't believe it when our media officer gave me a call I thought he was joking um I thought he was uh you know just joking around with me and then he said that he was serious um the I went numb I honestly I went numb I didn't have any feeling I didn't know how to feel I didn't know what to feel but when he congratulated me and wished me well it's that's when it sunk in when I dropped the call and I couldn't believe it I told my partner and I told my my son um you they just we just had a moment you know where the tears were rolling I just got very emotional cuz it's been a roller coaster of a career roller coaster um from where I've come from to where I am now so I just had a lot of mixed emotions H I'm obviously excited that the bedway Premiership is kicking off soon um this is our our bread and butter and we're looking forward to it uh we're excited we can't wait to to get the league campaign going um we know it's going to be tough we know everyone is gunning for us but the big boys need to to rise up and at melodi Sundowns uh we know what we need to do to win it's going to be a long journey it's going to be a long season but we're excited we're looking forward to it we're looking forward to all the many games we're looking forward to all the the challenges this season and yeah we're just excited to get the pway Premiership going [Applause]
