Eddie Vedder Tells Story Of Taking His Daughter To Her First Cubs Game At Wrigley Field

how's everybody in the [Applause] bces it's nice to change things up every once in a while right um so I was going to tell uh I was going to tell this story about about I think good parenting good Chicago parenting and um my my daughter didn't take her to a baseball game in Seattle she was 3 years old I wouldn't take her to game until she could come to a game at rer field and you know I have been teaching her kind of it's a form of brainwashing but with love about the colors of the Red White and Blue um and and the Sea and and and you know sometimes in you know so she knew Cubs Cubs she knew the you know I'm teaching her players I'm teaching her about the infield fly rule and she's only three but I digress this this this thing would happen where we every once in a while we'd see another Cub hat in Seattle maybe a jacket maybe a hat and say Olivia look Cs and we'd wave give a nod shake a hand or something you know Cubs but it was few and far between so so she comes Wrigley Field it was Mother's Day I'm throwing out the first pitch she's got a little car wood Jersey on she's got little pigtails and and she's in her car seat and we're getting close to wriggly field and she's three and she calls it Wiggly Field as they do and but her feet start kind of kicking she's feeling the excitement she knows what's happening she knows we're going to RI field and when we got let out of the car on the corner and the red Marquee and and hundreds and hundreds of people in Blue Hats and white jerseys and blue jerseys and whatever and we walked out of the car and she looked at me looked at the people looked back at L dad yeah everybody comes and I said yes my dear these are our people [Applause]
