but like with Branch his versatility can you help people understand through a couple examples of of how versatile this guy is yeah I mean you know he can play press man he can play zone he can you know a lot of the times we just let him kind of be a bonus hook player and you know say hey bro just go make a play and you know he's the type of player that you kind of you know don't like you know obviously everyone has responsibilities but he's the type of player we kind of just want to let him do his thing and um that just is a credit to how special he can be and how special he is and you know he can play nickel he could play safety for sure obviously he did in college and you know hopefully he will a little this year but you know he can probably play outside too all right if you if you if you listen to that clip just then you heard one of the leaders of this defense Alex zalone and anal Zone anal Zone one of the veteran guys in this team tell you exactly what Branch's role was at times if not majority of times last year's defense as a nickel but because he's so well he's so good at what he does well-rounded he's able to roam the field kind of be decisive what he wants to do does he want to Blitz on this play does he want edging closer to play the run is he going to back in help out in coverage does that not sound like the role of a safety does that not sound like guys you've seen in the past great great safety players like Troy palalo yeah the strong safeties too don't get don't get twisted with any free safety stuff Kirby Joseph holding that one down I don't understand the push back on Brian Branch playing safety I don't think so many people have rushed to to comment on any po post we put of Dan Campbell talking about playing the safety position about uh the new coach Jim O'Neal about him playing the safety position to say I like him better at nickel why he could do everything he was doing last year we just had a guy from the team tell you what he did last year from that safety position safeties never have ever have a set guy kind of depends on like what the offive like formation is and who they're going to guard a nickel you're always going to be guarding that third wide receiver a safety you guard the help of the Titan right now you want to Blitz you want to step up to play The Run you want to fake the blitz I don't understand the push back on top of that too you saw how good he was at changing his position to Nickel last year he is a safety by trade that's what he played at Alabama [Music]
