NFL Boycott

and S are the Kansas City Boys Choir and the Kansas City girls choir yeah so apparently conservatives are losing their minds over this I guess they don't watch football cuz they've been doing lift every voice and sing before games like the last two three years maybe my favorite is by far this guy who is upset that wine is referenced in the song I guess not realizing that the Star Spangled Banner is a literal remix of a British drinking song which makes sense if you really think about it you've got some people complaining that it's a madeup song that's just made to divide America so maybe they need a little bit of a history lesson lift every voice and sing was composed in 1900 just 75 or 76 years after the star spangle Banner was composed and it was colloquially referred to as a black national anthem years later the song is a hymn that recounts black people's struggles during Reconstruction which for all the book burnings that are going on in public schools right now you probably wouldn't realize that the turn of the 20th century was one of the most aggressively racist times to be alive in this country outside of actual slavery and far from being some obscure song that nobody in the world has ever heard of and that was just plopped down in NFL games to make white people angry um I grew up singing lift every voice and sing in school assemblies in my nearly all black Public School School in Southeast DC in the ' 80s and 90s seriously I hear these kids singing this song and it takes me right back to second third grade but anyway here we go again the people who claim that everybody else is too sensitive and a little snowflake and that cancel culture is bad now wants to boycott the NFL because a song was sung that they don't like
