[Music] yes sir yes sir lucky Lefty podcast you're here in a special edition we got the players only club today all players guys that have been on the field been in the locker room sat in the seats the guys are sitting and put on that that blue uniform that we love so much and around some of the guys that see playing on Saturday we got our guy Reggie got our guy Oscar McBride I mean two of the elite Legends of Notre Dame that can give you this Insight this is the season preview we're gonna give you our thoughts about what we think about the program right now moving forward and what we hope to get to which is hopefully a national championship by the end of this season but welcome guys thanks for joining the players only Club oh I think Reggie's on mute let's get him on yeah thanks for having me brother and uh always good to talk to you especially a a fellow Lefty right stick together bro thank you for having me brother I appreciate it anytime we get to to to break bread man and then talk a little Indie football and see my brethren man it's always good and you know what what's so special about Notre Dame is that we're all over the map we got California Texas and Arizon in one place but we share one thing and that's Notre D and the best part about it is that the season started this week fellas how do y'all feel about college football starting this week we've seen a couple games early on that gave us a lot of tale of two teams will play in this season but what's the what's the feeling of college football this year like well for me it it's like I said the star start off hot with uh Georgia Tekken Florida State whoa not see that one coming you know that that was that was a old school butt whooping I mean that's punch in the mouth knock him in dirt yeah game whoa okay look you know DJ you know what djay it's gonna be a low scoring physical game off all I was expecting more out of the Florida State Defense that was the thing that surprised me more than anything like Georgia Tech punched them in the mouth like they went right at them and I would I was like you know you know I knew they were Florida state was going to have some you know work to do offensively to kind of get back up you know up to speed from last year but that defense I thought they would be way better than what they showed but unless you know Georgia Tech's offensive line is that dominant because I mean I'm seeing these guys lock them up nobody's getting off you didn't see guys weren't getting off blocks they locked them up yeah yeah and that was a veteran that was a veteran offensive line too let me let me say this though Florida state has been notorious for for being athletic but not necessarily physical right finessers and that and that's been year like going back 30 years to back when we played them I mean they had you know Derek Brooks they had you know James Roberson they had Corey sawer you know they they had they had a bunch of dudes who could play but you know playing through the guy they they go around the guy you know what I mean so that's kind of been their in mode like they try out athlete Georgia Tech and physicality is going to over going to overtake athleticism anytime when you're talking about football especially in the Run game leag which you know man and it was it was good to see that matchup you everybody was hype on the Florida state athleticism all what they've done and accomplished in years before and everybody knows the Georgia Tech team that's has always had things that they've been missing but you know they had the Run game the offensive line pieces here and there with the transfer portal affecting Georgia Tech like it did it it's kind of balancing the scales and so a team that looks top 10 this year particularly it's more even than it's ever been is Georgia take a top 10 team I don't know but can they compete with anybody that's listed top 10 yes they can so obviously obviously you know what though for every for every bad you know Mark or you know demeaning comment the transfer portal gets for maybe how it's executed on the on the front end on the back end I think it's a phenomenal thing because it creates parody oh that that means that any given Saturday anything can happen that that we we we felt last year know that a you know losing to Marshall right so like like you know you got Alabama transfers playing at Marshall you got you know guys from the SEC who basically is NFL light that are going West Conference and yeah like like like who who knew that New Mexico was going to show up and and punch some people in the mouth like I mean they didn't they didn't finish it because they still gotta learn how to win but like teams like you lb coming out can can pop up in year that's what the transfer portal has done a team can come out of nowhere have a good run and in particular we got to talk about Notre Dame this is our third year under Marcus Freeman some a place where in college football today is not too many people can say they've been in the same place for three years straight facts building a program what's the feel of third year Marcus Freeman The Vibes you've gotten from him and just kind of what You' seen from the team leading up to the first game you have that one though no you you got that one well let me say this man I I I love coach Freeman man I I love his energy um I love how prepared he is in the first couple of years you know especially year one we all know we saw that look on his face on the sideline where he choing on that gum looking around like man what's going on but right making sense this is not right right but you know what he he he understands Notre Dame and and I think he understands what Notre Dame is looking for we're looking for it all we're not just looking for guys on the field they're going to perform we're looking for Great Character guys we're looking for guys going to do things in the community looking for guys going to graduate he's doing everything right and to boot one of his mentors is someone who's mentored myself and Reggie that we just got a chance to see on Saturday is coach Holtz like when when you have that guy as your brain trust with anything Notre Dame success is imminent I'm excited about what he's done I'm excited about the vibe he has I'm super excited about the guys he has on his roster specifically the young guys you know you you can grow guys to a point but not necessarily in the genan pool you know you're talking about Ryan Clark's kid you talking about Brian erer hereid you talking about B's kid you talking about Jay bizzy's kid like you got you know plao bur's kid you got you got guys who were dogs in the league whose Sons obviously have that genan pool and it's just a matter of getting it out of them and I I think coach Freeman is poised to to have a breakout year as a coach in our program I think I think and we'll we'll be able to probably tell from from the opener against Texas A&M I think we're P to do some great stuff this year I'm not gonna say college football playoff yet but I do believe we'll end up in the top five I I mean it's hard not to think so I mean when you think about the fact of the Legacy that we've been able to recruit to Notre Dame in my opin which is like our pseudo five star yeah you take a kid like B son who has all the genetics that you would want from that position now he's got something that none of these other guys have a dad that's been there done that and and he just naturally can do some things that he'll learn and take from his dad that's just how it works that's why netism is big in the business Place yep 100% you may not be the best doctor but if your mom and dad are doctors I mean hell you just G have you just Stu you just know how to do I just know how to fix stuff I'm not a doctor but my parents were right so we'll get some of that from a Ryan Clark son we'll get some of that from a a bird son where it may not be a five star as an individual but he got five star knowledge he knows the process of getting ready for week to week he's got a reference on how to get recovery from game to game yeah how to go about practice how to develop it so that's an extra compliment where I think Marcus Freeman has found a way around of getting a bunch of five star get Legacy kids they team full of guys that not the Bon jovies the musicians we we want the the first round you can bring them too you can bring but you know let's get the you know the first round son you know of we had plenty of guys that were entertainers Sons we been had it all that was great let's get some of these D1 NFL Suns coming through and I think that will that will balance the more of oh we don't have a fivar but you know we can do something with Jerome beton he he he may know how to you know so I think that is a huge uh compliment but also shows that Marcus Freeman's tapped in with the network yes sir alumni trust Marcus Freeman to the if it was the other guy it'd probably be harder to get some of these Legacy guys to come in they don't they like I know what a NFL looks like and that's not right I can't trust that with you right but it's no it's no no Brer with Marcus Freeman he's the number one in in moms and P and dads number one moms and dads he can he got the presentation he's he's bought into what Notre Dame provides because you have to navigate that it's not just say hey we got Notre Dame you gotta Gotta Serve it the right way serve it in just serve it all it's gonna be too much like golden cral so you gotta give it to him in no to make it work to me is that he like reached out to he made a concerted effort to reach out to the Alum you know that was you know a huge factor and again I mean across all all all eras and he understood the importance of getting the alumni back and engaged you know because those are some of your best recruiters because we got guys all over the country and again he if you make those connections make that contact with again yeah the superstars and but you have guys from you know different eras that played at different points in time that are still available to you and to tap into that that was huge because again like I got guys that said that you know from the 60s and 70s that are all in on Coach Freeman and I gotta agree with Oscar his energy I mean this cat's everywhere I mean he is everywhere doing everything and he has such a maturity about him and the biggest thing is like I watch he's put his built this team and put it together and his recruiting Because again there was a you know there was a thought that only not Dame can only recruit from a certain aisle right no he's recruiting across the board yes sir and getting guys again that that understand what Notre Dame is about that want to be there and understand that hey this is you're being you know you're gonna be a part of something special yeah then on top of that you got two veteran coordinators defensively you know Marcus knows defense he's a defensive coordinator I just don't think he had was quite as up to speed on from the offensive side of the ball right and last two years he had young offensive coordinators you bring in a Mike Den Brock who know Notre Dame yeah yeah loves Notre Dame and you got two guys that aren't you know neither one of these coordinators are looking to supplant him they want him to be successful right yes want him to be that guy and be that man and and be that support system for him yeah Mike Den Brock say the last time he was there the Notre Dame offense was potent to say the least I mean Lefty you was there you know yeah not to mention not to mention when he was at LSU you know he he he he he put some put some uh points on the board because you know LSU defense was a little shaky in% 100% when you look at when you look at it Reggie to your point about Mike you know coach denrock I was lucky enough to have have lunch with him back in June him and Kyle Rudolph man it was a good time um when you look at you know Notre Dame's scoring um proficiency back during his era the offense Notre was averaged between 33 and 36 points a game right so if you're scoring 30 points in a college football game you should win that game yeah you know what I mean like like like your defense should be able to stop people from scoring 30 points in a college football game if your offense is scoring between 33 and 36 points a game and Malik you know that intimately man you was a part of it you know coach coach Den Brock was recruiting when I was at the time the assistant head coach of Seri out here which is a good program you know Troy know their name all the time and I I got a chance to talk about you with him back then um and and you know he know he was he was truly candid with me he's like you know I got two really good quarterbacks you know he's like it's but it's taken out of my hands I love Mike for that that's Mike is my dude and I'm looking forward to watching him especially you know not D is tight in you people can say what they want you can say you know Miami you can say Alabama you can say Utah you can say you know Iowa you can say all this I'm going to tell you this Notre name is tight in you and there is nobody better with using and inserting the tight end in the office as a coordinator in the country than Mike Dem brck period in the story yeah and and it shows I mean look at when he coached tight ends the tight ends he had during that time all went to the league had successful careers yeah that's that's further it also shows just Marcus Freeman's influence on keeping Mike mckin I believe Mike mickens wanted to stay for Marcus Freeman I believe Al golden wanted to stay for Marcus Freeman Al golden could have went back to the NFL after last year top 10 defense first round picks all of that yeah he decided to come back I don't think too many coaches in college football could do that right and then you get Mike demra who just came off of a Heisman two first round receivers program on the come up yep leaves there to come back home Notre name just shows that what Marcus Freeman is building is something that's going to last longer than what this temporary change in college football is which is this nil transfer stay one place for two days and leave the next he probably the the the the standard for what it takes to run a true program still in today's time I agree 100% and what we also seen though is these transfers as came in transfer portal has also affected Notre Dame in many ways I think Marcus Freeman has put a nice Band-Aid over some of the stuff that we're working to build for a Allin win season this year getting a ryy Leonard getting a Chris Mitchell getting the Bo Collins what do you think those impact of those transfers offensively then you got some defensive transfers too we'll talk about on this team for this year because this is a one-time thing well when you look at like said guys is transfer the they they fit a um a a mo veteran guys that again we're not necessarily getting those you know sophomores you know and and you know secondy year freshman you're getting grad graduate you know student with production you know and particular at the the wide receiver position I think that's going to be an area where we make a big jump in terms of improvement is at the wide receiver position because she got guys that have produced where they were and they bring they bring that production there and then you look at Riley Leonard and I've had a couple of times to engage with that young man and yeah love him to death and I say and I say this because you know you like you got to get a quarterback a little grief because you know you wear the red jersey he does not like wearing the red jersey up let's go he came when he said that I like okay that's you know he he has that that Moxy about him to say hey I'm gonna come out here and strap it up just like everybody else and you know you bring it I'mma bring it too yep and because I still say if if if he doesn't get hurt when we play Duke we'd lost that game yeah yeah he went down that made a huge difference lost game yes we were we were on skates we were in trouble not to mention you know and we'll get to this but you know my biggest concern with the this team is the offensive line and that game they were I mean our Center couldn't snap the ball he had what two or three illegal procedures because they were busting his head yep and you know and and Riley Leonard was dealing too yeah he was so my thing is this is like hey you look at this team you you got some good leadership and again it's also about how you integrate with you know within the team and the physicality and this is what I need to see from offensive line tight end receivers backs quarterbacks the physicality that's how you win games when it gets down to to get down to it the physicality to come in and say Hey you know we have you know we have all this Talent we have all you know we have receivers that can get we have tight ends athleticism but can you line up punch somebody in the mouth and knock them off the ball yep because at the end of the day that's football yep you know you can have a I mean you can have a you know the run and shoot and this and that but if you can't line up and consistently physically get after another team yeah that's You're Not Gon you're not gonna consistently win football games it's the physical team that wins and you can have a spread offense but if you you need to have a spread offense that still can line up and be physical in that spread offense it's not you know you know yeah you can throw it around but how physical are the players that are out there breaking tackles blocking you know I love to see receivers blocking down field that's where my big runs came from was yeah we got to get past that first level but that's the offensive line but man you know a lake Dawson a Clint Johnson um adri Adrian jell will par Ray Griggs those guys were downfield and I'm talking about if if you ever get a chance go back and look at some Lake Dawson I've seen this cat put put hands on people safeties and butt them up and and take him to the ground like oh like that man no joke man um clayo he wasn't as big as Chase clayo but he was Chase clayoo like when he put hands on you you he gonna lock you up and that's said when you see that that's where you get those you know we go from like a you know 10 to 15 yard run to the 30s 40s 70 yard runs that we had because those guys took pride in what they did blocking downfield you know what Reggie and and and and to your point man there was a different culture for us back then um we knew coming to another D we weren't G to spin it we we knew coach host want to run the football and you got a guy like L Dawson maybe not the fastest guy in the world but he did have a 40-inch vertical he was physical he had no problem going downfield and throwing a blocker or cutting he was Notorious for cutting dudes I mean back back then it was legal Reggie laughing because dck was known to lay some bodies on the ground so like when you when you're talking about guys that were selfless and knowing okay I'm not gonna get eight touches today I'm not going to get or eight or nine targets you know you know me and IR Smith and Dereck Brown you know we we're you know butt naked in the scene man but you know we weren't in the re you know our job was to hold of safety we were running decoy routes all day long man like you know we lowkey I was hating when Mike BR came throwing the ball to the tight ends I'm like man these cat these cats catching more balls in one game than I caught my whole career like what we talking about right now and that's that's the question because there's only one football on this team 100% we are still a very good running football team regardless of the o line being young and having Youth on we're still a very good old line that can run the ball you got about five or six running backs that can go out there and produce guys that we are excited to see in the jadarian we know about and know super talented the ball Jeremiah Love And even the young guys you got anas jumping in there you got I'm looking forward to seeing that Kendrick kid uh that guy that kind of takes over for um Audrey yeah and and and that's and so then you throw in a Riley Leonard who's in my opinion his best strength is making plays with his feet running around some quarterback run game yeah our challenge in my opinion and where we need to see the offense grow is that other 40 30% of the game which is passing the football you get a transfer portal kid who is the number one in receptions in all of college football with 71 or 75 from Chris Mitchell you get a Bo Collins who's coming from a a veteran offense that throws the ball down the field you got tons of talent in the receiver room that's young with a Jon GRE house with Jon thomasy your fa on there's one football we a talk about Mitchell Evans Eli Ren and and Jack Larson and the tight ends that we can just keep naming so do you think this team can be selfless and understand uh all these guys who's trying to go to the league now let's let's put that out there as well none of these guys are just trying to stop here for sure do you see a team being selfless like this or is that the challenge to be self when you got so much talent on the field you know what let me say this um the game has changed for me when me and Reggie played you know we were you know IB back split back verer Pro Personnel you know 21 Personnel um you know you you're 10 Personnel 11 personnel 20 Personnel now a lot of motions and shifts you know we didn't do that we put our hands in the dirt and came off the football what I what I no no cute stuff huh no get unbalanced or man I I'm telling you Le I I I I remember being in the hdle with at I remember being in the huddle with Aaron Taylor man and we looking over at guys hey man we get we gonna get to play we'll be right back we gonna run right there we we coming right here and you know and Def and to stop us so things have Chang he's not he's not exaggerating you're telling the D line we about to come right hey hey they would find guy they would find that guy that's like they gonna pick on yeah and we coming right here wear him out him out up real good yeah because we double teaming we coming right at him yeah let me say this though like when when you talk about you know the selflessness if these guys really want to win a National Championship or be in the conversation or be in the college football playoff that has to be the most important thing like you can't go out and worry about your own numbers and stats and touches when the whole idea is to get first downs which leads to touchdowns it doesn't matter who catches or who scor like I was excited when my boys caught the ball matter of fact I got in trouble one time we're on the goal line coach coach host calls a play for me I swap with ir I swapped with him because he hadn't caught a touchdown and got in trouble for it but IR caught a touchdown you know but he caught a touchdown so so in in in my mind especially not being a head coach you have to have selflessness if you're G to be successful because if we're successful that means we're all successful that means we're all gonna get a shot to go to the league that means we're all gonna eat you know what I'm saying if I'm out there like I gotta get my touches I gotta I got to get my targets if you're worried about yourself you're going to create some dissension you're going to create some some animosity and some hostility with other players who do have that R right mindset of coming out and actually just winning the football game which is what ultimately what we're after well and and the other piece of that is like you know and I I've talked to Coach D Mullin about you know the running backs because you know with this whole portal stuff you literally have to to re-recruit your players every year all the time man throughout the year yeah and we talked about this the thing that and this is just speaking to the running back position is that you know when you talk about taking the next step to League he said and said he has you know proof of concept because like hey he was in the league he coached in the league what is the most important thing is like you know to to be productive what do you do with the touches that you get right and you're you're more inclined if you're saying hey when I get my opportunity I'm going to maximize it but I'm going to do it within the framework of the team so but because it's not just you running the ball it's you getting the ball out the back field catching the ball out of the back field you know because it's a it's a it's a passing game now but also are you picking up the blitzes so someone else can make a play are you protecting your quarterback are you are you listening to your to the play calls and the calls of the offensive line to better help you understand okay hey here's you your your footwork is is critical because everything you do is are going on film in a game yeah and that's what they're gonna look at so think about it from this standpoint what was AR like arri estimate he had a great year but he was more importantly he was averaging on five yards a carry you know and you know that's kind of the the measuring stick in terms of you know that production is like when we said you know Jerome he averag over five we had I think four or five backs that were getting you know between 12 you know 12 and 15 touches but they were averaging over five yards a carry right you know and it's like what are you doing with the opportunity that are given to you y and also you know what do your you you know Oscar touched on it's like hey you create if you're are you the one creating the dissension in the locker room because the culture of your team is should be built on the dynamic of that team yeah we yeah us not me and me get mine because thing about like like you said if if the team eats we all eat no doubt if I do my little part and this is to me football is the consumate team sport it requires 11 guys executing at a high level but it requires trusting your teammates say I'm not gonna go try to do my my teammates job I'm gonna focus and lock in and do my job to help the team because when I do what I'm supposed to do that's gonna help the next guy and if the next guy can count on me is gonna help the next guy so new Dynamics we're dealing with we're dealing with a quarterback that's transferring in that's trying to go to the league top five you're dealing with a receiver that's transferring from a smaller conference looking to get the football multiple times a game you're dealing with guys that are at school that are currently on the roster oh you bring all these guys in I'm trying to play I'm trying to show worth so I think there there is a a ego Dynamic that that's a little different because you're not different than when you're coming in with your boys freshman year you want to see him do well Junior I want him to get in yeah like now you're getting guys that aren't from that same I wouldn't say community but you getting guys that aren't from the home team got you gotta mix and match and do different things that hasn't been as constant at Notre Dame like it's been other places yeah so all that included mixed in with a offensive coordinator that's really good at his job but it's his first year with it yeah he's looking at all these weapons like if I just close my eyes we can find so how much of how much of a pressure is that for Den Brock to figure that piece out as and and I don't want to say make everybody happy but we got enough to do a lot we forget Jordan fison was one of the Premier guys we were talking about at the end of the season he only had what 19 receptions yeah yeah we had 19 receptions and we were going crazy about it yeah I'll say this and again but this is where you can help some of these young guys perspective yeah you know Derek Brown was was a first round pick with maybe 20 catches not not even first round pick IR Smith first round pick he did we don't I don't think we had anybody over 40 40 reception individual what yes bro now granted now you have you you have more passing is now but this is again it goes back to understanding and and getting your players should understand again you're talking about taking the next step and again I I ier back to running backs because again that's what I know you got a set number of carries in you you don't want mean everybody talks about I need to get you know 15 20 you know 20 20 25 carries get lathered up and no that's how many carries would you want to take in in today's game because now it's about running back by committee but you still need to get exactly but again now the thing about even receivers like that you have so many hits your bodies you know is breaking down every time you take a hit yeah so this this applies to tight ends receivers running backs it's okay let me Max focus on maximizing my opportunities and view it as that I have an every time I step out on that field I have an opportunity to execute I have an opportunity to to perform really the only one that's you know the the bulk of the ISS issue is our weight is on is the quarterback because Den Brock is not the one out there Distributing the ball right so I I think the more more of the emphasis will be can Ry Leonard M you know have that build that leadership and that develop that you know communication with the receivers the tight ends the backs and the old line right 100% I strugg actually struggle coming in I mean anybody would if if and regie came in there at the start of their fall Camp right now right now put all talents and stuff to the side that's just going to be hard to do fair I gotta we're not saying Ry lyard is not coming in like he's Tom Brady pton Manning with all the passing accolades so he's got to find a new part of his game right to assist the multiple receivers and passes that we hope to achieve because I really believe that we can't run our way to a championship we got be able to throw the ball in crucial situations I agree I agree and can he do point of you also have pce about you know you're throwing the ball I just look at you said you know those bubble screens I mean this is where you can like said short shorter passes to where you can go down field but you have guys that you can get the ball to and it's almost like you know that's part of the running back committee is like the faisons and the guys that are in the slot you know those bubble screens you get them involved but it also gets I'm a big believer in uh offensive Rhythm developing a rhythm and in kind of a Cadence with you know you're coming off and you the quarterback gets into a rhythm and make that connection there but I agree it has that has to take place yeah in practice that has to you know that that relationship to where hey I have the confidence in this receiver I have the confidence in this player to do X Y and G right and it's a trust Factor right I agree and and Lefty to your question bro um I would say this I don't look at as as pressure on Mike Dem brck I mean you you play for him the man knows quarterback play cool yeah he's a cool collected guy he he knows quarterback play he know he knows tight end play he knows receiver play um if you look at what he did when he went back to Cincinnati with with Ritter you dude dude came out of nowhere they're in the college football playoff and he ends up being a three going to Atlanta gets traded to Arizona carved up some guys a couple days ago he's balling I'm putting that on Mike Dem brck I think he got him to that point you know uh Jaden Daniels was out in ASU you know had a couple of decent years run around run around the field kind of crazy but he gets with Den Brock and now he's running with purpose he knows where he's supposed to be he develops a passing game he develops some accuracy and some Acumen so if I if I can base it on just my brief interaction with Riley Leonard I also met him last this past summer um the dude has Moxy he's got swag he's tough he's a competitor and he's got in my opinion and and I'm biased because Mike's my boy in my opinion I think he has the best developmental offensive coordinator in college football so to your question about him being able to distribute I don't there's no question in my mind he's going to be able to do that like my is going to make sure that he's ready to do that and until he's ready to do that to Reggie's point I think you're going to see the slip screens the M screens the bubble screens the Slants the spacing routes those kinds of things to get him into that Rhythm mixed in with a good run game to keep defenses off balance assuming our offensive line isn't as great as we're used to it being I think you have to offset that a little bit um and that's just a matter of game planning and balance which if you watch denrock you know he's he's gonna run that thing and he's gonna throw it as well so um I'm excited man I I you know until until somebody proves otherwise I think we're in a really good situation with with where we are with the with the horses in the stable and and with the guy that's dialing them up and that's and that's where and that's where we get that in that J suppos position because now it's like we have no excuses right all the things that we were lacking offensively we gained we gained being the coordinator that has proven record of this that and the third got a quarterback that speculated to be top five this that and the third handle receivers in recruitment yeah you got take top off the defense now right yeah so there's so you're in a position where it's no excuse de Brock talked about early on in Spring he believes we could be a top 10 offense like the defense is a top 10 defense where do you see this offense getting to and and is it a rough start that will get better or are we coming off hot looking to dominate team score 40 points a game it starts at the offensive line period you know what the off whatever happens with the offensive line will dictate where this offensive offense starts and goes you know and people can say yeah riding in this this but you you touched on it you know area that he definitely brings some added you know opportunity for success is with his fee and I think that's that goes into that you know part of that getting him in the Run involved in the Run game will help him get into a rhythm yeah but and he's not slight he's not he's a big dude like it doesn't matter what you have going on on the outside in the back field if they do not block I mean Georgia Tech prime example you know did you hear did you know about any of them guys in in the back field on the edge until they did what they did never heard and who was the dude the 58 dude that was going crazy yeah he was going crazy he was nuts like if that's the that's if that's the end all Beall yeah offensive line will determine where this offense goes because we have the capacity to be great yeah but you you know you have like I said a quarterback that can put you know run the ball he's he's a a good passer you have receivers again that can take the top off of Defense you have tight ends that can make make you know get get down the middle of the field you got run that yeah you got all the and again I for me I would love to see like I said more tight ends involvement because it's G to help those tackles with yeah yeah little body presence not necessarily they have to you know put hands on them just be there that presence to force that Defender to to to modify his Rush yep but it all starts with the offensive line and I I'm you know still kind of like I don't know I don't know what's going on because I haven't really gotten to see him but it starts with the center in the guards can they handle those te te stunts can they handle you know the blitz is and seeing those guys lock up but coming off the ball yeah man just just showing them say hey we're here and we're gonna be here all game long and I'm gonna punch you in the mouth because you know you know say say hey it's all funny game since somebody get punched in the mouth you know what you gonna do then and that's and that's true because at the end of the day it's still Notre Dame it's still a not Dame offensive line with the schedule we have the first five six games hell a whole schedule yeah get the first five the whole schedule there should be a a maturation process that's fed up with this offensive line we should be okay versus Purdue versus Northern Illinois versus Miami of Ohio hell be okay first game first game is more about jit because it's like you know it's crazy it's first game of the season you know everybody's hype but the the six games after that one we should be getting I agree with that Malik it makes sense man there may be some first game Jitters you know we might be out of syn a little bit but going again going back to any Den Brock offense the word that comes to mind for me as a offensive coach you know and a coordinator in my own right is explosive yeah he he's a chunk he's a chunk play guy you know he he's GNA hit you with with with the post dig he's going to hit you with The Comebacks on the boundary he's going to stretch he's going to stretch you vertically he's going to stretch you horizontally and he's going to run between the guards and and and the tackles man like he's he's downhill you know when you look at his offense if if I had to describe Mike dem's offense he runs power football out of spread out of spread yeah he runs power football out of spread so Reggie I'm with you man you know big up gota show him we don't have an average o line now these guys are averaging what 6631 or something crazy anybody is feeling the pressure is our o line coach yeah okay that's that's my guy I trust coach Rolph since Wisconsin that's he knows what he's talking about absolutely now we talked a lot about offense obviously we're so excited there's some unknowns but things that we know that who we're playing what we got going on in the direction that Marcus Freeman is if anything has corrected some of those issues and gotten better by year three just the wayers play all day every day
