early on everything wasn't really there as you know we kind of had planned but as the game got going we started to get some more push up front uh getting to the second level and we was able to get some great blocking on the perimeter and we got going how nice is to be able to spell uh yards on your own because allies I mean that's great especially with you know the combination where we could you know throw the ball pretty well and also the running so it makes it uh our offense more effective so that's what we're just trying to do today and uh we had a little bit of success out there sir just you as well to get out there it seemed like you got bigger and better with every single carrier oh yes sir I mean once I you know get going and I I'm feeling good I'm I just I'm brilliant sir you did a pretty good job with your legs today but talk about you know wanting to help in the passing game how do you help Davies to win you know things kind of break down uh just being an outlet for him honestly you know on third downs we try to be one of the best teams in the country as we were last year on third downs and uh just knowing that when we capitalize on third Downs they give us our opportunities well offensive opportunities to execute more uh throughout the game that's really efficient tonight on 16 carriers especially in the first half you just seem to have a different type of burst and explosiveness how ready and prepared were you for this game uh this I've been ready you know since January since we have a off-season program I've been praying uh I can't wait to see you know what else God has in store for me and uh for this team so I think a lot of great things in store and like I said throughout this game I was just you know I was focused I was determined how how much of an asset is that as a running back to be a pass catcher as well that's great especially you know in today's game it's a lot of passion and you want to be an outlet you know for the quarterback or just you know you want to be able to run great results work to open up somebody else so uh that's what our offense content you know is you know be an outlet as well but also just knowing like the reason behind you know why you're running your route what point did you know that you had a shot at bringing this thing back all the way it was the first step I mean when did what did you say here I think I got this uh it was really when I'm when I cut back inside and I see my teammates telling me to uh come over to the to the field so yeah it was really when they told me to come on just trust I didn't believe in them does it make me feel to be a home run here like that to be able to change the momentum of a game like that and basically just quiet down the entire side of the stadium I mean I feel like that's what they brought me in here to do so you know that's always been the goal the uh every game every every time I step on the field that's the that's the objective is to try to score as one of the leaders on the team how do you get your team you know the twos the threes how do you get your guys to play a full game moving forward um you know it really starts in practice uh you know but games like this is good for younger guys you know to get their feet to get their feet wet and uh understand and know what things to do better going forward so you know it's just learn a step you know every I feel like every freshman every freshman has the big eyes when they first get out there so you know everybody has to get their feet wet before they can get into it the beginning of the game with a few of those points that we saw it may look like you may not have gotten the opportunity to return a pun did you think that maybe I'm not going to get a punt today uh yeah at first I did um they kept kind of you know kicking short kicks or shaking them out of bounds but you know brother Grace I got it you got an opportunity at what point did you did you know that it was going to be a touchdown was it when you hit the sideline because it ended up being the fourth longest in nccu's history it was really when I hit the sideline uh shout out to uh Marseille Miller number 80. you know he had he had that great block at the end and uh and it was your rest was history just talk about the importance we asked Luke here earlier just the importance of three phases of a team you know being able to be solid on offense defensive special teams and what that does it separates the good teams from being the great team yeah um definitely um of course you need to have a great offensive defense to win games but you you know that I feel like that's what separates the good teams from the great teams special teams so you know but uh that's that's always the motto is we fence uh in our special teams coach always emphasizes that and you know everybody has buy-in all three phases I know you might not have seen it today but from last year through the off season to now have you seen this team improve and what are you looking for from this team moving forward um we've actually improved a lot definitely uh on defense and you know you tried to actually have a uh a brand this year and have a a face um first of all stop the run uh that's the that's definitely the motto motto stop the run and then after that it's just you know playing hard running to the ball and doing the little things because you do the little things right then the rest will carry itself
