We have team coverage this morning across the key areas involved in the shooting overnight. Want to start off with Chris Soy who is live at Dallas police headquarters and Chris, we know this will be a tough day for our first responders. How would you describe the scene there on the ground? Well, Mark, it is a tragic night and morning for Dallas police headquarters. We know that from past instances when an officer is killed in the line of duty, it does not take long for the support for the memorials to start piling up at the headquarters. That's what we're waiting to see this morning. We already saw some of the support overnight at Methodist Hospital. In fact, that's where we spent most of this night and we were there and we could see the officer's family being brought into the hospital saluted on each side by Dallas police. In fact, Dallas police escorted them into the building. Then throughout the night, we saw more and more officers showing up, there were several dozen waiting near the front of the door and police cars completely packed Colorado Boulevard the street where Methodists sit so much so that a few officers were having to do traffic control. Then around three in the morning, they quickly dispersed as they prepared to get in position for the procession that took the fallen officer from the hospital to the medical examiner's office. While we were out there. Fort Worth police were coming over and trying to keep us updated. They sent officers to assist their law enforcement family here in Dallas, Dallas police when they did address the media talked about that support, we asked tonight and this morning for the thoughts and prayers of our city for not only those who are recovering in the hospital, but for our fallen for their family and for their loved ones and for us as a department as well. And during that official update from Dallas police, they did walk us through the events for that. I'm going to send it over to Tiffany Liu who is still live out on the scene to take us through what happened. Yeah. Well, Chris, this is where it all started and it might look dark behind me, but I could tell you the scene is still very much active right here on l better poor students of the street are actually still blocked off. Let me just recap for you how it all started. What police have told us thus far started after 10 o'clock last night. Sources tell us an officer was responding to a call here. Those sources believe he was ambushed. Police department confirmed this morning that officer was shot in his car. Then two backup officers came and they were shot as well. This morning, I did listen to the radio traffic from after the shooting. You could hear officers were doing CPR on one of their own as they waited for ambulance to arrive. Their voices had an immense sense of urgency and they knew they had to get these three officers to the hospital right away. Take a listen, the one that's down to do CPR right now, the other two have been transported. I don't know what elements of them they're going to. The seven is one method essential. We're still waiting on that ambulance. Where is it? You could hear them asking for that ambulance and in these moments, those seconds, those minutes, they can feel like forever and in those minutes, it is crucial to get those officers that help. We know one officer did unfortunately died. Two are still at Baylor Hospital this morning recovering from their injuries. But for now I'm going to send it over to my co worker, Natalie had who was in Louisville where the story continues. Thank you, Tiffany. Yes. As Dallas police officers were at that initial scene trying to help one of their own other Dallas police officers chased the suspect that brings us here to Louisville along I 35. You can see the scene behind me where it is still active. That is where the chase ended. Texas DPS. Dallas police and Louisville police are here. Now, w FAA obtained a letter sent to the Louisville Police Department for their chief of police. It says that just after the suspect shot the three Dallas police officers, he began to flee driving his car. North Dallas police chased the suspect into Louisville. The suspect then pulled over on North Ses Freeway, reportedly got out of his car with his weapon and Dallas police shot and killed him. Now for that letter, Louis Louisville, police were not involved in the shooting but they are helping in the investigation of the suspects. Weapon is being described as a high capacity rifle. It is still on the road behind us as well as the suspect's car. Elsewhere behind me shows an abundance of law enforcement officers. We see many markers of evidence showing where shell casings are and even some magazines from weapons of the investigation here. Still news. We will bring you the latest as we get it. But for now, I'm going to send it back to you in studio Kara. Thank you, Natalie. And we know that scene in Louisville shut down the highway for hours. So here's a look at our tech stock camera from overnight. All the lanes on 35 east at 121 were closed. Let's get to Sta Wilson right now with an update on where things are standing. What does it look like? Stasia? Well, they still have not opened up that portion of the interstate care. This is a look, I 35 northbound where those lanes were closed and you can see they still have them blocked off. Now, I'm gonna show you a couple more cameras because traffic being diverted to the service road at corporate I'll step out so you can get a better view and you can see the service road is packed as well. So this is an area you definitely want to avoid right now. If you can, I can show you this location on our map again in the Louisville area. And it looks like as you just saw that traffic being forced off the main lanes at corporate and then that closure last just a little bit past 121 Sam Rayburn to. So if this is your normal route, you know, the rest of your thoroughfares on the northern portion, north side of Dallas County are moving along just fine. I would definitely take the Dallas North tollway, whatever you do don't get stuck in that mess because typically the service road moves a little quicker. Not the case this morning, we're gonna let you know when this opens up and keep checking alternate routes for you. Mark. Thank you.
