our broadcast team today Joe ricado following the story lines down a Turf level Joe good afternoon good afternoon Travis perhaps the best C man about this martinburg program came from their semi-final opponent last week at hton head coach phly seals where he said martinburg is the most dominant program in the state of West Virginia and anybody who disagrees with me hasn't watched football in the last 15 years as you mentioned princ is making their first appearance at the Super Six their first year head coach Keith Taylor said nobody expected us to be here why not go out there and give it our best shot they'll get that shot right now all right thanks a lot Joe there's a look at the first year head coach keate Taylor former defensive coordinator under Chris Pedigo at Princeton he played didn't leave martinsburg's right back to where it was as dominant as it's ever been they've got skill they've got talent all over the field it should be a good one there's a check of the forecast game right ready to go great atmosphere and Cody Pig has that ball teed up for the Bulldogs of Martinsburg ready to kick it away to get this one underway and it's going to be a sky kick and a fair catch called for and taken near sideline by marvan Howard and that's where this high powered Princeton tiger offense will go to work and what a semifinal game they had last week at home against bridport 7370 the final score the Tigers give up 63 points in the second half after leading 27-7 at half time but they can score in bunches and it starts with their quarterback the sophomore chance Barker who won the job of the preseason yeah he's outstanding can throw it all over they like to throw it in the flat and get their guys in space but watch Martinsburg they're going to come right up with some Man Press coverage on the outside first and 10 for marker in the offense and he's going to run the football trying to get to the outside and he does and he'll step out at the 37 yd line the marker is not a big threat to carry the ball but he can do just that he can escape when it's there and picked up positive yardage and he might have to do that a little bit more today that's one of the things the quarterback can do against man coverage when those defensive backs clear with their back to you if you can avoid the rush you can get up field in some scenes talk about this dominant martinburg defense when's the last time you saw the three leading tacklers on a defense are the D linan yeah there's no doubt and we we've seen Martinsburg up here a ton and we often talk about their skill and rightfully so I think their lines are under talked about on both sides watch this D line today really talented there's a hand off to low and low crashes forward for a yard it's going to be really tough for Princeton to run the ball against that front the two youngsters to watch up front today number 75 ernit Hendrick he's a preferred walk on to West Virginia and Rashad Reed the nose guard 6' 285 he's committed to Elon yeah it's going to be a challenge as you just said to get up inside there I think that's why at some point Princeton's going to have to look to beat guys on the outside on that one-on-one coverage and hit some balls over the top Dom Collins is located in the slot bobbled s by Barker in trouble Collins bobbles it makes the catch here comes the speed Don Collins with a stock block down the field picks up the first down crosses into plus territory at the 48 yd line boy he's electric isn't he great job there to get the ball out before the brush and there's that pressure from Martinsburg marker does a great job Collins a good job to keep eyes on the football and it just explodes across the field two bobbles on the same play the quarterback bobbles it Collins bobbles it and it freezes martinsburg's defense and tigers are across Midfield first attempt so Martinsburg is going to do a little bit of bracketing on Collins they've got a corner right up on him and then they've got a safety shade it over to keep an eye on him from coming into the middle Chris belur the offensive coordinator for Princeton former tiger quarterback Little Speed option Barker's going to keep it there you can see the speed and Recovery ability of Hendrick holds out to a yard gain hendri playing both The Pitch Out and the quarterback and was able to close the quickly on the going against Musgrove number one for Martinsburg on the side closest to us short side of the field they've been going matched up tight oneon-one that might be a match up Moser has to get loose on today yeah Moser is the other quarterback that was battling with bar in the pre-season and he drops the ball on his first attempt well boser with 815 yd receiving can't squeeze it and it's third long yeah so they were just trying to get the ball in his hands with some blockers in front of him didn't make the catch now here's a tough situation CH you get third long against this Martinsburg defense you know you're going to get heavy pressure coming up front and some receivers Get Loose It Takes the r longer to develop as Moser will line up as a lone receiver and trips to the left to the quarterback Barker on this third down and n on the opening drive of the game here comes the pressure Barker stands in the pocket looking for escape R he finds it now he PS but there you see the junior 1500 yd passing 17 touchdowns he's run for just under a th000 yards on the season just a flat out after CL a lot of quarterback Powers though run he breaks free from an initial Surge and Eli Campbell will pulling down on the play the senior he's committed to the Air Force Academy and that'll be a gain of six on kin yeah this Martinsburg offensive line outstanding he mentioned Reed and HRI on the def side now add in number 77 West Hancock he's headed to Wu as well the right tackle really talented and big up front and stoppage here and looks like maybe a knee pad issue with martinburg tie on Jacobs so he'll come out for a play they tend to that second down and short the senior line up front left tackle left guard Right Guard right tackle all seniors Payton Kaufman is a junior semifinal game of their school history till last weekend and they're up on Martinsburg seven [Music] nothing now this is a Martinsburg defense that only surrenders 100 pass yards a game they've already given up half of that yeah tremendous job on the you had all three elements there you had protection marker delivered a strike and Collins did his job of knitting that one-onone match up now we'll see if Martinsburg adjusts to that will they now say all right we' got to take Collins out of this and roll a safety over there to bracket him on top a ton of blue in the stadium here as Princeton great fan support this season down in the Princeton Community signs on businesses they painted the town blue I did that semifinal game last week I rolled into the stadium at 3:00 hundreds of people tailg they did a tiger walk with the team High School to the stadium so great to see the support for the Princeton tigers and they have certainly delivered so far here in this opening quarter outside kick ball goes 10 yards Princeton waited on it to go 10 and there's a pile it looks like there's a white jersey on that football at the 49 yd line it's pron football they recover it it was almost as if Brad Martinsburg was waiting for the ball to go y agree I think that's exactly what happened they had Martin thought they had to wait for it to get 10 yard and instead Princeton just beat him to the spot you see the ball land in front and bounce as martinsburg's looking at it and boom here's the only question saw did moer kick it yes yes I think they might have touched it early you see the challenge flag out from Dave Walker all right so we get a challenge early here from Dave Walker and again this is a turnover the previous play is under review so turnover scoring plays and catch no catch are challengeable and the question's going to be was the ball kicked initially by Martinsburg before it went 10 yards or rather fron oh he mentioned the jakamo you that onside kick on that to be a great angle right here because it's right down the 50 yd line so it's just before that when the contact potentially occurs so you're behind the angle here but you can see the yard line there well Travis you make a good point there is y it might be right on the 50 when it's touched now the question again we've seen the angles here Brad is there enough to overturning I don't know that's that you bring up a great point of where he is when the ball touches him because it's clear it goes off his leg but as we're seeing this now with all those angles that might be tough to have it clear Virginia it's actually 84 dayon Thomas who kicks it right we think there and from that look it might be short of the 50 and they might have enough to overturn that on illegal touching how big has replay been in this super six and again the longer this goes the more opt you are to me to have the play agree in fact if I'm Keith Taylor that's what I'm lobbying right now I'm saying all right you had enough time to look at it if you can't tell now let's play Yeah official jogs on and I I think it's safe to say we have no idea how this is going to go after further review the call has been from Barker two of three making three of four for 86 yards in this opening and again Kyle I think that's a great great uh offensive set for Princeton they're going to have to hit those plays deep if Martinsburg wants to continue to press up on them you're going to have to get by him and hit some big plays as they have early first and fron looks to the sideline play signal in high snap marker keeps it runs it marker 40 tackled at the 38 yd line boy right now everything is going fren's way high snap for the second time Barker's able to pull it down and marburg's defense who normally is always in attack mode right now I think they're a little flat footed yeah and they were coming right there all six guys in the Box were pressed up on the line of scrimmage low marker once he got control of the football break through that upper crush and there's that Gap in the middle that we've talked about it's been a Princeton opening quarter second down and two Moser in motion Barker to design I like that they brought djo across the middle on a post which cleared that wheel route out for low to get down field pretty well defended there by martinburg credit Fen for staying within touching distance of low I like that play design though watch that again come back to that if you're paying attention to Collins on the other side of the field and you can clear that low around the Championship win and Fairmont senior was able to keep them out of the end zone and seal a State title in class G for the polar bears P it with the carry picks up a couple impressed early with Princeton's ability to string out these perimeter runs not giving Martinsburg any cut back lanes and able to get to the edge to force these short games second down seven ball to 23 CL on the keeper wonder at some point if Martinsburg is going to look to exploit the middle of the field because you just said it princ is doing a great job at the second level and the third level of diving down into Princeton leading martinburg at the end of the first quarter you know you've had a big day when you can't quite remember which touchdown is your favorite I don't remember all that's he was electric that day wasn't he no question what a year he's had West Virginia kind of was an unknown coming in and of course dealt with an injury midseason but has been an impact player every time he's on the field including that near game winning touchdown catch and run against the Houston CG yeah worked his way right into a scholarship at WVU all right Dober with the catch tries to dance and Jo cuts off the music at the 39 yd line lost on the play of a couple I tell you what for a Princeton defense that gave up 70 last week and that was the story is how would this defense hold up they have been outstanding in getting to the ball holding Martinsburg under five yards per play so far through the first quarter ke Taylor take that all day long wouldn't he that is the third lost yardage play thus far as Princeton's getting the Bulldogs behind the sticks winning the time of possession and holding Martinsburg to five yards of play pit throws it out deep and wide and it's overthrown incomplete do get a stop here and will have flip the field position Taylor what a good job it's been between him and Chris Pedigo to build this program this was a two and eight football team back in 2019 there's a start to see that offensive line for Martinsburg I would think Dave Walker will want to lean on that group here as the game goes on try and wear down Princeton's front who's done a great job thus far all right Tigers you know offensively don't necessarily have to score on this drive R but you can't go three and out no you can't you want to keep the ball here Cho some clock as much as he can so he can get at least down the field and flip it if nothing else back to low and there you see the speed of the front line of Martinsburg and that is read all over low no chance on that one loses two yeah you just see the strength and the speed Martinsburg multiple guys just breaking through that line so talented up front loss of two on the play we saw Princeton get away from the run after that first series and I think they might have to get away from it again I think they have to they're going to have to try and take advantage of some of the single coverage here and try and get guys in space but remember you don't have a lot of time that Martinsburg defensive line is coming Arthur throws it to Collins and Collins spins with a marker down and he'll get back to the line of scrimmage at the 17 y line now the key for those receiver screens with Collins to work is you've got to get good blocking on the edge Klein and moer and that time the block Was Defeated and we'll see what we've got here on the the penalty marker after the play ended at the 17 yd line which would have been a loss of one blocker back on the offense half the distance to the goal start second ball back to the eight there's bunch at the bottom and something didn't work for there as the crowd may have been a factor on that one as the Martinsburg fans were trying to make noise and it looked like the receivers the stack when you're seeing that Man Press coverage that's one way to beat it is to stack or Bunch those receivers and make it difficult for the mark Defenders to get their hands on them off the line fron does on those long developing pass plays that Rush is is too dominant up front yeah I got to stay out of the strictly the third long because Bulldog's defense they're just dialing up pressure when you got four guys like they do up front you don't have to Blitz you can get you can get the the pocket to deteriorate with your front four they're taking those four up front that are so good and then they're anticipate that Princeton will punt the ball here you in a normal situation this would be one where you think you go for it with a back like low but given that front of martinburg ball but the offense is out there leave out there this could be one of your quick kicks though that you saw martinburg try or maybe try to draw him off play clock at 19 that's what looks like Barker looks to the sideline they throw off the two hands and they will take a time out well now I anticipate though pun and if you're a barker there you could have gotten a couple of more Barks in before taking the time out to try to draw Martinsburg across right now course Princeton all the concern is on the left leg of Dom Collins 528 remaining until half time both teams have two timeouts hopefully Collins can continue really nothing evident on that tackle it was a hard tackle but didn't see his leg get twisted up or anything wonder if it was a cramp that's trying to rub out there that's your hope cins is up see one touchdown in this game Princeton fans seeing Collins get up and they all come to their feet in unison so they obviously the Tigers need him on the field so far on this game we've talked about the front just 1.6 yd per carry for Princeton so far Midway through the second and now Collins is going to come out and Howard will check in and as you see the Princeton offense is still out there martinburg anticipating around they've got everybody up on the line scrimmage and they're going to run it and no chance loow one you lose yardage back to the 35 yd line yany just outnumbered up front the strength of that Martinsburg defensive line knew a run was coming no chance from that play from the very beginning Travis now now through the Princeton defense you've been put in a really tough spot here giving Martinsburg a short field be able to step up here second straight possession start the last drive at the 40 this one they start from the 25 and cl will get it to the 21 for four on a high Tackle by J up of four second down and six from the 21 yd Line Stands in looks left throws left back to the end zone and coming back to the ball making the catch touchdown Martin spur getting outting the defensive back for the score what a pass put it exactly where it was supposed to go getting in running to that spot just did a great job of elevating up when that ball was released I thought I thought Garrett M was in a perfect position to get a pick Gideon just goes up over top of him makes the play and gets the putot down another great catch here in Wheeling Travis there you're right great coverage by Garrett may but just a better play by Gideon to fighting for the ball that's the only spot that ball could have been in to make a completion it's in the back corner of the end zone there wasn't a lot of room that's a great individual play right there great throw great catch all right Martinsburg will go for two and they're going to go tight formation power eye hand the ball off and that's F and and he'll run in for the two-point conversion Travis look out here if you're Princeton we've seen this so many times with Martin fur you give them a crack in a close game and they capitalize generally an avalanche follow so danger time at your PR yeah snowball rolling downhill of momentum and nobody uses it like the martinburg Bulldogs and Clement what a throw put it upstairs where Gideon could go up and fight forward got one foot in and that's all you need for six what a play mentioned earlier on that one Gideon had that drop the two catches since then have been absolutely outstanding D Walker going right back to him some big place right so Princeton seen Martinsburg go on a 40 yd and 25 yd Drive in their last two possessions the Tigers a team that were down against Parkersburg in the quarterfinals at home and found a way to come back and win so they they've been in these situations before and it's very early 443 to play until half time and each of the last two years in this exact situation in the second quarter when we've seen Martinsburg here look out for a special teams error they seem to take advantage of these situations if you're Princeton feel the ball get your offense back on the field try and get your feet back under you Sam Collins will kick off for Martinsburg and he's going to Boom it end over in Kick low over his head 5 yds deep touch back ball will come out to the 20 with 443 remaining until half time Princeton down 14 nothing's having a day out there I there's a bunch of schools out there that would like a kicker that can you can but you also want to use some clock here and try and keep this game at Bay don't give the ball back to martinburg if Mar steps up throws there's Collins low throw misfire had him in that to find a way to get it to moer he doesn't have any catches but just credit mro he's just running with him and does a great job at the last minute textbook getting that inside hand up tipping it away before that drive began of if your Princeton trying to choose some clock just were unable to running off just a few seconds now you get Martinsburg here it's starting to feel it a little bit look out for another big play I'm trying to take a shot deep I feel they've got prin on the ropes here a little bit and a possible two for one right here martinburg will get the ball to start the third quarter has been the bread and butter give it to Clement quarterback power off the right side when they need it look at the hole Hendrick's coming over with the seal and then the speed of Clement taking off for the end zone and this is what we talked about here that's when the snowball starts rolling in these situations we've seen it in the second quarter in martinsburg's last two appearances here in possession to get on the board with the touchdown now they've racked up three consecutive touchdowns on the last three drives you see it's all working together now the defense in the last three possessions have come to life the offense has come to life yeah and you're seeing those linemen that are both offense and defensive linemen from Marburg now they have a little bounce in their step right they know they're starting to wear on Princeton up front on both sides of the ball here he carries 124 yds for Murphy CL and a couple of touchdowns he's got some wheels too just like his big brother does turn them into space let them rip there's there's good news sign says this is the last of the Clements good news for the oppon for the rest of triaa probably soon to be quad a yeah that's one of the things talked about the CL brothers and Hudson from earlier that's been one of the surprises I think NE know Brown mentioned earlier this year they clocked him at over 20 mil an hour during Jacobs good play design that little tunnel screen trying to get the ball to Collins you got two linemen out there cut back in the middle did a great job there Jacobs did a great job shaking off the official right he sheds the lock of the official and then jumps right in there makes the tackle kind of hit behind the back jum there I I don't think cins saw it that's just great discipline to stay home and wait for Collins to run to you right there third and 15 Barker has time this time throws over the middle pass drop at the 30 yd line Collins would have had a first down those are you have to make if you're you're just not getting many opportuni you got to take advantage of them and make present Travis another quick drive there's still 238 left on this clock Martinsburg is going to get it up the block up the sideline and is going to be shoved out of bounds into the martinburg bench at the 42 yd line that was pretty good coverage too byon they looked like they had him surrounded then right on the edge watch number 55 leanian Weller will come into your picture and make a play right on the right hand side right here comes Weller lining him up weight does not hit him in the block Handcock there the right tackle signaling to the sideline like hurry up we want to go here you can tell that offensive Line's feeling it right now up the middle to the [Music] endzone boy Meg for the 18th time this season the Z and the r is on just amazing how they do this to you you can hang around with them and then at some point again I've referenced it a few times we've seen it three straight championship games from marford it's the second quarter that where the separation comes that's four touchdowns now in about the last8 minutes for the Martin gold team to take control of this game and we talked about the difference the Dave Walker has made this program has 54 playoff wins prior to Walker stepping foot on the Martinsburg campus is the head football coach they had one playoff point in their history and you see it again guys when Martinsburg needs a play where did they go they run it and they run it to the right side getting over there by Reed and Hancock on that side and you see that massive hole just open up again F into the house we've seen Martinsburg just in this quarter more than double their yards per play they were just at 4.1 as we started the second quarter now up to 9.2 yard per play 28 straight points for Martinsburg unan 148 remaining now prinston has a pair of timeouts here down three touchdowns but you're set to get the ball back to martinburg to start the third quarter after the Bulldogs W the opening toss and Def [Music] F Preston's trying to do what often is not done you know since moving to Wheeling first time teams at a state championship game eight wins 30 losses just two and nine in Triple A yeah since 1994 and that's it's been a challenge and there's a lot that goes into that it's they do such a great job up here in Wheeling at taking care of you from the setup of the locker room to the hospitality they provide and really a lot of it Travis starts in the week before I talked to Nick bck earlier this week and he said that was one of the biggest challenges just the preparation is different during the week because there's more going on there's more people bringing you food tickets the travel so a lot of times it's not just the day of the game but it's the week leading up that's the challenge all right scrip kick by Collins fielded by Zaden Neely and I wanted to point out that young guy you may wonder why is a guy wearing 74 on the second line of the kickoff return team for Princeton last week in the game against Bridgeport the Indians onside kicked about five times times in a row and Neely recovered two of those onside kicks so he might wear 74 but he's got great hands might bring him in a tight end it's like you held on the ball pretty well there I Princeton for the first time in the last what three or four drives they had field position finally here to start this drive pitch out the low block defeated and low is tackled at the 42 yd line low is an outstanding football player he just can't shake loose there is no room for him to run great decision gets the ball in his hands but look at Martin speed to force the pitch and there's those defensive backs right up in there again Co how many times have we called his name on the defensive side today closing from that corner position and making a great play yeah got off the block of w Kine and you know certainly these receivers from Princeton have done a great job all year of blocking but they've run into a different animal here today marker motions slow out of the back field comes back to Mosser his first catch turns up field positive gain across Midfield to the 49 yd line before Jacobs tracks him down third down and short there and that was good work that's what you do there's a lot of traffic over there but get it in the hands of moer First Catch on the day for him and he's a guy you're going to want to try and get cranked up in the second half mus just done a great job over there on one-onone third down and two two of eight on third down I'm sorry I still think this is a throwing situation given what we've seen up front for martur I think you got to put it up in the air I think they're all throwing here on out foron marker Blitz comes throws incomplete wide of to jakamo you had two receivers in the same area and that meant that three Defenders were there as well and marker had to get rid of that one quick Qui as he had a free rusher on it yeah that was buy coming up from that safety position like a flash he was in on Barker in a hurry and delivered a shot fourth down and two for Princeton o for one on fourth down conversions you go back this tital wave from Martinsburg started when Princeton went for it on that fourth and one right deep in their own in yep at about the 9 Minute Mark there the second quart been all martinburg since tiger is going to take a timeout here 14 seconds remaining in the half all let's take a look at some of West Virginia natives it's been a banner year for State natives playing in the National Football League not only playing but having an impact yeah there was Tyson ping you saw first for the Bears more former Marksburg quarterback he was fantastic Darnell Wright also the Bears top 10 pick this year and how about Dante Stills Vermont senior product for the Cardinals having an impact in his first season in the league as well Tren strange the tight end former parkerburg big red playing for Penn State had his first touchdown catch as a pro this past year Trayvon Wesco making impact as well he's been in the league a few years what makes some sense you saw the the video from earlier with all the division one Tal out of this state it would make some sense you're breaking through now with some more NFL guys as well playing at the highest level Dave Walker trying to win his ninth State title it be the schools 10th Brett Sherman who took over as head coach when Walker left for a remains on staff he won a State title pretty good program you got two two coaches on your sideline both with state titles 17 coaches on the sideline Mar well fourth and two marker to throw goes deep Collins got step he's got it Collins touchdown second of the first half and the Bulldogs give up a touchdown with s seconds remaining until half time great job by Princeton and that's massive from a confidence standpoint there's that deep ball we talked about Collins just has to beat his a kid that uh his last two weeks we'll see what it does in terms of his recruiting only holds division two offers currently guy what I always say Travis you can't teach speed right he he's not just a straight line guy he gives you some wiggle he's got both those things you're looking for and you saw just go back to West IND you saw it this year with true freshman Rodney Gallagher getting the play he's not a big guy either slight of build but you saw him start to come along both speed and wiggle so there's a place at the next level fors by description of Collins is he gets fast quick that's a good one like not a guy that has to get wound up he can he can kick it into a high gear pretty quickly here's the kickoff from Kaiser and he's going to go Sky kick and a fair catch will be called for and taken at the 42 yd line by Cofield that's a big touchdown there for Princeton been five straight possessions since they scored you have to go all the way back to the 742 Mark of the first quarter when they jumped out to that lead so big moment there to get on the board before we head to half and gives Keith Taylor some locker room to try to rally the troops here and we'll see how martinburg plays it they they do have two time outs but only 7 Seconds remain don't really seem like the uh take a knee and run it out here I think they're going to push it you got those athletes on the edge and a guy that can get it to him 7 Seconds you can get a couple of plays out of this and Pete Taylor who also acts as the defensive coordinator take a time out want to see what the formation looked like yeah think they had the right alignment or the alignment that they wanted wants to make sure they get this right and get in the locker room that's seven seconds remaining couple of timeouts for Martinsburg leading by 15 28- 13 one of the huge keys for Martinsburg already has been field position Travis we've mentioned it a couple times starting in pron territory right now they hold a 19 yd field position Advantage they always say if you're you're plus 10 in field position at least at the college level you win those games about 95% of the time Martin living with a 19 yd Advantage as we to go to the half right Clement the offense back out there on a first and 10 from the Bulldog 42 yd lineon and Jacobs are the speed Merchants you see Princeton back to high safety look back 20 yard off the line of scrimmage in going to run it he's going to spin and that'll keep the clock running we'll see Martin will run it out and they will that'll be the end of the first half so the Bulldogs score 28 straight points before Dom Collins with that touchdown catch with seven seconds pron down 15 at half time and Joe bado is with Dave Walker in between Princeton's two touchdown drives what led offensive line that we talked about in pregame they are just moving guys up front and they are a handful for the Princeton defense right now yeah if you look at the Bulldogs that's one of the things that's been the staple of their state championship runs they impose their will they do what they want to do they do both sides of the ball that line and it's a lot of the same guys going both ways football in the state of West Virginia very exciting and uh the number one storyline really going into this season was something you mentioned a number of times throughout the broadcast the return of Dave Walker as head coach after his threeyear Cent leading Concord that's one of the main story lines Walker now back and seeking his nin state championship and the tent for the Bulldogs Eastern Panhandle very successful this year placing three teams in the top seven Spring Mills with one of the better seasons in school history as they finished seventh and actually gave Martinsburg their closest game in the regular season Jefferson checked in at number six parkerburg scored a huge playoff upset a number 13 seed with a victory over a number four seed in hurricane and a couple of teams served very late in the year after slow starts George Washington got off to a 1 and three start Spring Valley got off to an 0 and4 start both of those teams found their way into the playoffs we'll put a wrap on the year with the metro news top plays in class [Music] [Music] rout and Returns the pick 60 yd to the end zone play five tremendous concentration by ill receiver Mikey spack the pass is this play one of the Tigers 11 touchdowns in their 7370 semi-final win over Bri for chance Parker to Bradley Mosser Moser comes back to the ball Cuts back across the field and takes it 51 yds to the end zone and finally the play of the year in class Triple A it comes from the Spring Mills combo Anderson to Anderson and their win over Hedgesville Max Anderson to the end zone and Xavier Anderson that's what he does Don Collins down the field five catches 127 yd there in the first half big play right here he was called on the field as a good recovery but once reviewed the ball was kicked by a Princeton player at the 9 and half yard mark up the field gave the ball to martinburg Clement anwers yeah Clement's just been fantastic 143 yd rushing averaging 14 yd per carry also showing he can throw the football as well get fting the defender for the touchdown on that one and Clement a pair of touchdown runs in that first half you saw the speed right there but it's really been the offensive line for Martinsburg that's really impressed just opening massive holes there you see KY Fagen taking off for another Martinsburg touchdown as part of that Avalanche that came in the second quarter yeah Collins gets a touchdown seven seconds to go in the half Marburg gives up the late score which is very young characteristic yeah good job by cins just flat out beat two Defenders down the field with his speed great pass by Barker stats presented by BSN Sports the heart of the game Martinsburg slow to start strong to finish 227 yard in that first half yeah you would normally look at that time of possession difference and think Princeton was right where it needs to be which it was but that's that quick strike offense for Martinsburg that we saw in the second quarter three sacks for Martinsburg in half number one including two for Rashad Reed and look at those rush yards Travis Murphy Clement leading the way for Marburg but Mark Kell low just can't find any Running Room on the other side of the ball for Princeton Dave Walker half away from winning another State title coming back to Martinsburg after his threeyear step at Concord where he led the mountains since last year was their best year almost got into the NCAA playoffs lost to Fairmont State on a late two-point conversion and that derailed their chances to make the postseason but kind of interesting Dave Walker when he was the head coach of Concord you know where he lived Princeton so he knows all about the community support of this Princeton Tiger football program well you mentioned that Community Support I give credit to both communities this is a tremendous crowd you got a beautiful day sun 60° both of the stands very nearly full on each side all right here's the kickoff fielded at the 17 yd line on the return over the 30 that's Musgrove dances to the 35 and will be shouldered at the 39 yd line but good starting field position for Martinsburg and that was the other story of that first half bulldog starting on the plus side of the field yeah they said great field position plus 19 yards overall in the field position battle in favor of martinburg first and 10th of the 39 as the Sun Peaks through the clouds here at Wheeling Island stadium and you know it's always a good opening weekend in December weatherwise when you're having to take layers off Bulldogs ready to go to work Clement checks his wristband Murphy five of 10 48 yd through the air 143 on the ground and he'll carry the football again and drag a offender out to the 46 yd line his 11th carry of this football game as a winner on first down yeah that play has been so successful all day but especially on first down they love running that getting ahead of the sticks second and short now you got the full Playbook at your advantage kaer on the tackle second down and three it's so hard to stop aren't they some of it's just formation they split the four receivers out that forces you to go out and guard them it can't put an extra safety or an extra guy down in the Box because they'll kill you on the outside with their speed and skill play clocked at five the run a reverse mro Dan to the outside they'll have the the time we've seen that go left this time Clement just busts through and once he gets through that first wave it's just his speed getting turned on it his hard to catch him PA of Miss tackles back up field and cl scores again Cody pige comes on to kick the extra point and it's up it is good 353 90 seconds it takes the Bulldogs to score Murphy closing in on 200 yds rushing three touchdowns in this tigers have given up two touchdowns here in the third quarter low goes out of the back field receiver screen to moer good downfield blocking boser breaks a tackle center of the field boser will have a first down before the Bulldogs try to RI the ball from him and oh Eli Campbell involved in a little extra curriculars number 60 there for Princeton get flags Campbell's got a little mean freak inning D play Virginia TCH after transferring for DMI and mentioned he's headed to the arm Air Force Academy came out to the 44 yd line on the first down that's I league and FCS offers before committing to the Air Force he camped at West Virginia Virginia Tech yeah that's a great football program he's going to out there at Air Force having another good season this year and probably a dream for an offensive lineman right you don't worry too much about pass blocking there you're just going to line up and try and smash people you like to run downhill that's a good program to go to any of those service cies it's a nice call Right There by Princeton I like that we talked about this moer match up on Musgrove musgrove's done a fantastic job of keeping moer in front of him but that's a good way to get him the ball one of your Playmakers try and get him in space to the ground low with some space for the first time in this game crosses Midfield and Musgrove will get him out of bounds down at the mar 44 yd line so low finally takes a snap of this game and doesn't see a great Jersey in front of him yeah good job up front great at the point of attack and we see low bounce outside shed a blocker put his shoulder down and get some yards he prob thrilled to have a little bit of Green Space there to work in you notice the Princeton face mask kind of old kind remember when we were kids and they had to the hutch you know helmets so I think they're so old school they're the brand new version right you're seeing that on some of the NFL guys that new look first and 10 ball at the 44 yd line Barker load fires Collins makes the catch in traffic high points the ball down the 11 yd line I like Barker he throws a good ball when they give him time he can get the ball and push it down field and then there's Collins again running right through and in between the double coverage then climbing the to make the catch excellent execution Princeton might ultimately lose the war here today for the state championship but I think Don Collins is cementing his Kennedy award candidacy for sure question six catch of the afternoon for Collins he comes tight to the formation and they'll pass it to him on a scrape route juggles it third receiving touchdown we got a marker down on the sideline that's going to be a shame for princ that's the first time we've seen that set today brought him tight to the line motioned him as a way to get the ball in his hands this one will come back we got Le of formation this the offense five minut in the back Field Five replay first down right so the receiver out wide is covered you're right they' have been sitting on that one kind of motion Collins to the wing and then brought him underneath yeah and a great spot to do it down inside the Red Zone into Fair's camp and earns his way into a starting job on that particular team I'm still surprised he wasn't more heavily recruited out of high school cuz you watch him there in those highlights that looks College ready at that point when we saw him up here at Wheeling Island and he's obviously turned in to be just a fantastic quarterback you mentioned it uh going into his senior year right went into the portal at Shephard yes and was kind of testing the waters a little bit but ultimately decided to return to uh Shephard which was a great decision absolutely right go back to shepher you were already on NFL radar at that point was Tyson vent he went back and had another fantastic record setting year his senior year that worked his way right into the the reei Senior Bowl and then on to the Chicago Bears here comes the kickoff the sky kick Marburg and what has been a tip of the cap to Dom Collins they have not wanted any part of kicking it deep to Collins so they've been perfectly content and when youve got that defense why not give up a little bit of field position yeah go back to Murphy Clement for a second when Hudson his brother was talking to Joe down on our Sidelines Joe mentioned to him Murphy was injured in that state title game two years ago that's part of why you saw Hudson move all over the field and fill in some on Direct snaps and catch it and run it from both positions you imagine if they both would have been on the field at the same time oh scary good yeah no question about it healthy this year he's had a tremendous year and again has an offer from Old Dominion but you have to figure his stock is rising here as the season comes to an end here's low he steps on the gas and there you finally get to see the speed in space of mar low have the ball out to the 45 yd line at a gain of 15 we talk so much about Barker and Collins coming in but here's low he's a 1700 yd pack yeah he's really talented and you see it right there he just gets himself to the edge then sees the crease and gets himself North and South a buck 65 against the Big Reds of Parkersburg in the quarterfinal round and that come from behind wi for prinston low out of the back field Barker receiver back to Dom Collins picks up the blocking and Collins going to be pulled down after a game of n a good play design right there by Princeton they brought the motion which brought that extra high safety that was over there bracketing Collins he followed the motion that freed Collins up on the other side gave him numbers for the play first tackle of the game for Ace Flores second and one as this third quarter clock is starting to tick away prinston doesn't score in the next three minutes we'll have a running block here in the fourth quarter pitch out the low look at the speed from the that is a defensive end chasing down a very Speedy running back was right with it Miss 510 195 and is out there on the edge tracking low no gain second down and 10 missed it remarked earlier in the first half you know it's rare you see a team and you look at their leading tacklers usually it's the linebackers and that means all right they got a good D line because they're eating up the blocks right now this team three their leading tacklers are their D line Hendrick Reed and bass and yans right in the mix here's MOS receiver screen in a phone boot Shake free momentarily gets it to the 41 yd line before Tracked Down by busy short game well this is the Brett butter princ right here these receiver screens they have beaten teams to death on them all season but you see Martinsburg is got the strength and the speed to get off the blocks and keep that boxed in yeah as you mentioned earlier in game it's a different animal going against the speed of the martinburg defense second down and six marker Under Pressure sacked six times goes down back to the 47 yd line first on the scene for the Martinsburg defense was 58 will bass creat so many problems defensively that time I happen to be watching the right side of the Princeton line where like Campbell is he's doing a great job today but Martinsburg just makes it so tough they stack Jacobs right on top of the defensive lineman and force Campbell to make a decision what are you going to do which one are you going to take he tried right there to to hit one and then hedge off on the other it's just so hard because of their speed keep in mind this Princeton offensive line they got two sophomores and a freshman out there starting Barker in trouble again he is sacked backto back plays and right now they're just teeing off EJ hendris we get this one back to the 45 yd line and that was Reed just blew by there and disrupted at Hendrick there to clean it up the Tigers Bing a little drive here in the Bulldogs slam the brakes on that and shift it into reverse in a hurry and the punt team will come on for the fron Tigers trailing 50 to 13 have a squat number on Reed that's a lot it's a lot you look at that lower body you can see why he's so good up front you are not moving him squatting the vwg the new style or the old style whichever is heavy mus bounces 18 yd line pair of flags come flying in actually three flags come flying in from all angles I'm tell you what those officials with some arms there were some wind ups there on those flights coming needless to say the Musgrove return will not stand I think Princeton might have their pick of which one they want to accept here you know Musgrove is a great example of this Martinsburg dep talked about him in that match up with Moser all day he's been tremendous out there so but he's about the sixth guy you would talk about on that defense yet he's been invaluable in this particular game yeah I mean same thing offensively you know you look at guys like Gideon and Jacobs and and musgrow you know you put them on you know xhs whatever High School you want and they're probably all state and All Stars you know on this team yard rushers on this team it's just so much depth and it starts with their you know their younger programs Martinsburg it's it's a program there's no question about that you don't win there's a soon to be 10th State title in such a short span without being successful on all levels lot to sort out here a lot of laundry on on the field so the crew there are two p on the play Mar five face mask 21 on the kicking team holding on the return team number 82 face penal off St Replay for down have to reick here you there was a lot of break there while the officials were talking some great sportsmanship between the two lines you see Hancock and Campbell talking one of the Martinsburg players showing some technique there to the Princeton defensive linemen Little Clinic going on out there some some camaraderie here in the state championship travles how you doing how you how you seven sacks here show me what you're doing right the Jo will have to punt it again 13 seconds remaining in the third quarter you know we mentioned those two guys a bunch Campbell as who said headed to the Air Force where he'll continue his football career Hancock headed to West Virginia University you know he was down to James Madison and WVU almost went to James Madison luckily for him he did not Kur cetti West Virginia graduate Morgantown High graduate just took the job at Indiana after a hugely successful run in James Madison musve on the return outside the numbers looks for the cut back no I'm just going to go this way and he throws a shoulder into Cline out at the 43 what a spin [Music] move that's a good way to burn out the line Rashad Reed Xerxes yansy will bass EJ Hendricks how good were those guys today I mean they played really well they just got better as the game went on so very proud of them and they showed up to play today Murphy wasn't able to play in this game two weeks or two years ago how focused was he to have a great performance today I mean he was ready to go I mean's he's been ready all year and uh you know he he's a great player great young man I know that this is not a 14we season it's a year round season to put this team together how impressed were you with the focus for the guys really throughout the entire year and since you took took over I mean they they they've been just amazing just the work they put in and the focus they shown and uh you know they're just a great group of guys and just blessed to be associated with lastly when you decided to come back home to Martinsburg did you imagine in this moment that you're about to have and and bringing a state championship back no I mean those are things the dreams are made up you know you you but no we just come in with to work and they and they br those guys they already they already had had it set up I mean so I'm just uh I'm Martinsburg 13-0 record on the season in a difficult place to schedule you know Martinsburg had to get creative this season and pick up Clarkston North out of Canada early in the year which technically by enrollment was a class single a school recognized as a doublea school in the ratings also Stonebridge Virginia had Boys Latin Maryland which against single a as a double A in in the ratings and that if you're wondering why martinburg was undefeated and the three seed you know that's why it's it's a ongoing thing for Martinsburg high school it's a tough place to find games outside of their direct area all right Joe has found Murphy Clement Murphy I know you had to be disappointed to not be able to play in this game two years ago what does it mean to you to have this type of performance on this type of stage it means the world I didn't get to do it two years ago obviously I got to watch Hudson do his thing and it was just great to be able to have my turn with it and be able to put on for my city and put on for the rest of my players with my teammates all of them what did it mean to have that guy over there in hson watch you do your thing hey that that a motivation that got me lit that got me that got me ready for the game what does it mean to you to bring a state championship back to Marburg I know there's high pressure and high expectations and you guys did the job it's great obviously we have a lot of them but add one to the list every year that's the goal it's great to be able to come out and and add add the one to to the goal at End season
