started less than a week ago when Senator JD Vance who is Trump's running mate shared a post on X claiming that Haitian immigrants in Springfield Ohio are stealing their neighbors pets and eating them and this came after a post from a Springfield Facebook group rounce followed up to that original post saying that his constituents were calling him about it they're worried about this story um but he also added in that same post quote it's possible of course that all of these rumors will turn out to be false now this the town's city manager does deny that this is going on and that it's ever happened but by that point the rumor had already taken off which brings us to last night's debate when we heard president Trump say that in Springfield they're eating dogs and cats now Springfield's immigrant Community has been in the news before for totally different reasons there's about 60,000 people that live in Springfield but over the past few years they've brought in about 20,000 hatian immigrants and some have said that that has put a strain on resources
