[Music] in august 2013 a man collapsed after running into a back alley in the colorado city of rifle minutes earlier the man anthony green had been in an altercation and what began as a homicide investigation was later determined to be an accidental death across the country more than two years earlier in april 2011 a man died after being electively removed from life support at duke university hospital in durham north carolina ten days prior he received a single non-fatal stab wound to his left side but what was initially a homicide investigation was ultimately ruled to be a homicide by the medical examiner was the manner of death in these two cases accurate or was there a nefarious reasoning involved and why did the media dissect the manner of death in a case lacking relevance while ignoring the manner of death in a case that could set an innocent black mother of three [Applause] [Music] free [Music] so [Music] so [Applause] lauren bolbert is a businesswoman owner of shooter's grill a restaurant in the municipality of rifle colorado miss bobert credits an august 2013 incident outside her place of business for the institution of a controversial employee packing policy a year later she explained for a fox news feature how the incident drove the policy as a young woman working late nights at a restaurant i learned real fast how important it is to defend myself after a violent incident outside my business i took advantage of colorado's open carry lodge and began to carry at work a far-right conservative compassed republican and ardent gun rights second amendment advocate loren bolbert won a congressional seat in 2020 to represent the boulder state on february 27 2021 during an interview at the conservative political action conference with a congresswoman she reiterated the origins of her servers firearms shortly after we opened our restaurant there was an altercation where a man would be to death that side of your restaurant i'm sorry or just outside of my restaurant yeah outside of my restaurant by another mansion no weapons on march 10 2021 on the floor of the united states house of representatives congresswoman bolbert gave a speech before her colleagues in a session in which she recounted the 2013 incident when i became a business owner i needed to protect myself there was an altercation outside of my restaurant where a man was physically beat to death there were no weapons involved he was beat to death by another man's hands three days later on march 13th 2021 cnn published online a news article titled fact-checking lauren woolbert's story about a man getting beaten to death outside her restaurant in attacking the outspoken colorado republican statement that a man had been beaten to death outside her restaurant the cnn reporter presented facts of the case that included quote a forensic pathologist determined that a man who was found unresponsive by police on a sidewalk near the restaurant in august 2013 died because of methamphetamine intoxication not homicide unquote cnn took the extraordinary step to obtain documents from the rifle police department which admitted the manner of death was ruled an accident the case quote was initially investigated as a potential homicide unquote because the death was declared to be an accident in september 2013 cnn then chided miss bolbert for not getting the manner of death facts straight during the intervening seven years this cnn article by washington bureau reporter daniel dale confirms the obvious that no criminal charges were filed in the incident because the manner of death was not a homicide cnn further contacted rifle police chief tommy klein to double check and make sure that the august 2013 incident was the only one that congressman bober could have been referencing in her recent statements at cpac and on the congressional floor chief klein gave his assurances finally the article mentions miss bolbert's objections to the washington post fact check article that awarded her three out of four pinocchios for her assertions about the man being beaten to death in front of her business establishment to momentarily digress bulma's objection is well taken as the post-pinocchio rating system ranks the magnitude of the lie consideration should be given to the difference between a lie and an incorrect statement many would differentiate a lie as being an incorrect statement knowingly made to deceive or mislead it is possible that miss bolbert believed that anthony greene's manner of death was a homicide when she stated he was beaten to death were that the case she would not be deserving of any pinocchios the foremost definition of a lie in most dictionaries requires that the untruth be deliberate acknowledging that in its broadest sense a lie can refer to any false statement and assertion that miss bolbert lied is disingenuous another example of where intent plays a role is regarding the 2006 duke lacrosse case the accuser crystal mangan stated that she was sexually assaulted by student athletes reed seligman colin finnerty and dave evans it is possible that she in good faith misidentified her three assailants from a pool of approximately 50 college age white party goers if so that would make her statement inaccurate or untrue but not a lie to this day miss manden maintains that she told the truth about being sexually assaulted it being the identities of her attackers that brings the veracity of her claim into question even if her three attackers were wrongly selected from the photo lineup miss mangan is not deserving of a single pinocchio from the washington post the washington post fact checker analysis referred to in the cnn article was published a day earlier on march 12 2021 it was written by glenn kessler entitled quote lauren bolbert's tall tale about a man's death that led her to pack heat unquote like cnn the post went to the trouble of obtaining police and coroner reports from eight years prior in concluding that bulbar's story is mainly fiction the washington post article quoted rifle police chief klein as saying about the deceased man anthony greene quote he had been in a fight and he died they investigated from day one as a homicide unquote the author of green's autopsy report forensic pathologist dr robert kurtzman noted a toxicology report that showed the decedent had a methamphetamine level that was quite high in conjunction with a lack of fatal physical signs dr kurtzman concluded the manner of mr green's death was an accident with the cause of death being the unintentional overdose of the drug the post even challenged lauren bolbert's claim that the man in the altercation died in front of her restaurant by referring to police records which showed the location of the fight began three blocks away with anthony green then running within a block of the shooter's grill before collapsing for the congresswoman's depictions of a man being beaten to death outside her rifle diner the washington post assigned her three out of four pinocchios in other words the story being a pretty big whopper a march 10 2021 article by cheryl t that appeared in the business insider titled quote controversial gop representative lauren bobert claims she started carrying a gun after a man was beaten to death behind her restaurant he actually died of a drug overdose unquote one need only read the headline in order to appreciate the contradiction of bobert's claim that the man's death was a homicide the colorado sun newspaper corroborated the conclusions of cnn and the washington post that an autopsy indicated that anthony greene quote died after overdosing on drugs what is incongruous about the news stories by cnn the washington post and business insider regarding lauren bolbert's misleading claims about the august 2013 death of anthony greene are the journalistic efforts to research and investigate a story which has little if any relevance from statements made by the colorado congresswoman it would seem that it wasn't because mr green died the manner of his death or the exact location of his demise that prompted over to encourage her servers to take advantage of state law allowing them to pack heat it was the threat of attack or violence occurring in close proximity to her restaurant as an aside a better option for the safety of herself her staff and patrons it seems would be for lorne wobert to hire an armed security guard service with acceptance of such a logical premise the manner and cause of death of anthony greene in miss bolbert's pronouncements becomes immaterial it is all the more outrageous for these media journalists to invest their time and efforts to acquire records and interview officials regarding a case nearly 8 years old all for the purpose of challenging the congresswoman's stated manner and cause of death of mr greene in stark contrast the cause and manner of death of pupil cross accuser crystal mangan's boyfriend reginald day in april 2011 is of colossal importance [Music] ms magnum's advocate dr sydney har armed with prosecution discovery obtained in march 2012 repeatedly notified media types of the true manner of death of mankind's boyfriend reginald day an accident by duke university hospital staff in treating his delirium tremens specifically an endotracheal tube was apparently placed in mr day's esophagus instead of trachea which ultimately led to his brain death comatose state because his brain death was considered to be irreversible he was electively removed from life support after a week of observation without neurologic improvement and he died this was clearly not a homicide however the media gave hearth's assertions little if any credibility in its reporting the media and state officials instead chose to believe the april 14 2011 autopsy report by medical examiner dr clay nichols a report which contains fabricated findings failed to include photographically documented injuries and pertinent non-injuries per standard protocol and contain the conclusion that mr day quote died secondary to complications of a stab wound to the chest unpulled there being no specificity to the alleged complications keep in mind that days prior to crystal magnum's 2013 murder trial medical examiner dr clay nichols was fired and at that time was under consideration for criminal investigation for his work in other forensic cases during mangum's trial dr nichols committed material perjury and the presiding judge paul ridgway deemed an 18-page document from the medical examiner's personnel folder to be relevant this document was shared with counsel on both sides and judges chambers but was placed under sealed by judge richway who has persistently refused miss mangan's access to this important paper martin barron was editor of the boston globe when its 2002 groundbreaking investigative series exposed widespread sexual abuse within the catholic diocese which was documented in an academy award-winning movie spotlight later mr barron became executive editor for the washington post dr har made entries to both the globe spotlight team and martin barron to cover the manner and cause of death issues in crystal magnum's murder case they ignored him as several letters to mr baron received no reply and the spotlight team expressed no interest cbs which was prolific in its coverage of defendants in the duke lacrosse case on its morning shows and evening news magazines for example 60 minutes and eye to eye with katie couric ignored dr hart's correspondence about the problems with crystal manningham's murder conviction letters to cbs news president susan zarinsky cbs evening news anchor nora o'donnell cbs legal analyst ricky clemen and 60 minutes correspondent leslie stahl went unanswered world-renowned forensic pathologist dr sil h wex october 25th 2019 report when crystal mangan's murder case was emphatic in its determination that the manner of mr day's death was an accident due to a mispositioned endotracheal tube by duke university hospital staff in treating his delirium tremens and not a homicide secondary to complications of a stabbing inflicted by crystal magnum in other words the instrument of mr dave's death was an endotracheal tube and not a steak knife raleigh affiliate cbs 17 news anchor bill young conducted a 20-minute skype interview with dr cyril weck on november 25th 2019 during which the famed physician attorney explained his report in detail despite dr weck's expressed desire that the interview be shown in its entirety it was never aired and never uploaded on its online site today its very existence is in question with the exception of a single podcast there has been absolutely no media coverage to date about crystal mangano's murder conviction day's manner of death and the exotic report by dr cyril wecht on november 3rd 2020 the women and crime podcast by doctors megan sacks and amy schwarzberg associate professors and criminologists at fairleigh dickinson university in new jersey published episode 30 titled quote interview with crystal gail mangum unquote in which it discussed dr weck's report and its monumental ramifications basically that crystal magnum was convicted for a crime that never happened cnn the washington post business insider cbs the boston globe and other media are not interested in fact checking the manner of death of reginald day as they are pledged more to shielding duke university hospital's responsibility for day's death than liberating and exonerating an innocent single black mother of three from prison after wrongfully serving more than nine years of a minimum 14-year sentence to conclude collectively the media has acted to keep the truth of mangan's innocence and her wrongful no crime conviction secreted from the general public the media would much rather fact check the accuracy of a questionable statement made by a controversial female politician that has no consequential meaning relevance or importance what is not questionable is that regardless of whether anthony green died from a beating or an overdose a wrongful conviction and ongoing incarceration of an innocent is not at stake [Music] you
