The Music of Season 2 with Bear McCreary | The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power | Prime Video

When I approached season two with The Rings of Power, it felt very much like picking up right where we had left off. The focus of this season is Eregion and the relationship between Sauron and Celebrimbor. In many ways this was a chance for me to codify Sauron's theme, because throughout season one Sauron's theme was always quoted contextually around the idea of Sauron. But now we're personifying that. When we were with Halbrand, you were hearing the Halbrand theme, which is actually the Sauron theme turned backwards. I thought I wonder if some fans will figure it out. And I started getting tagged in things. Just a few. But I like to think that everybody else also subconsciously caught on to those similarities, because that's the great thing about music. You don't have to analyze it, you feel it. I think all the crossroads converge as Galadriel faces Sauron. In many ways, this was teed up by the first season, and especially that season finale. We've been waiting for this fight, and now I'm taking their two themes and really trying to let them clash. I love writing music for Middle-earth. I get to wake up every morning and write music that moves me for stories that inspire me, and I look forward to where the story can go. And I'm very excited.
