[Music] good evening despite wrapping up security measures be spray attacks continue to happen at summer fairs in Saskatchewan the Queen City X has had one incident while in Prince Albert there were actually three attacks in just one day Donovan mace has more having fun at the fair may be priority number one but peace of mind and a sense of safety make the entire experience more enjoyable people want to come and have a good time they don't want to see ax incidents appear so safety's Paramount that's why the Regina exhibition Association is ramping up security for this year's Queen City X we have the metal detectors that everybody walks through and if something's identified then we use wands as a secondary to do a more thorough check if we spot something now despite the added security measures and at least a dozen Regina police officers on site at all times there was a be spray incident Thursday evening leading to a youth being charged with weapons offenses it comes the same day the Prince Albert exhibition saw three separate Bears spray attacks prompting a larger police presence there this has become an issue across North America last year Prairie Land Park introduced metal detectors after three bare maze incidents the year prior the director of special events says there weren't any bears spray attacks on the grounds in 2023 the vast majority of people are not coming here to cause trouble the vast majority of items that we seize at our gates are not weapons or illegal items they're just items that people forgot they had in their [Music] pockets real says safety remains top of Mind as the fair heads into Saturday which is traditionally the busiest day at the qcx we want to see people enjoying themselves uh we want to see people safe and happy and uh rest assured that we'll look after things as they appear Donovan ma CTV News Regina
