he otani's historic 40th home run ball of this season making him the sixth player in big league history to steal 40 bases and hit 40 home runs in his season the first player in Dodgers franchise history to do that the fastest ever to accomplish that feat Mr Troy buo joins the show Troy first of all where's the ball right now and now You' had some days to process this just kind of talk about that experience yeah I got the ball at my house uh in the safe and um it's been a uh a wild experience obviously my my throat hasn't fully recovered but U it's uh it's it's been amazing a lot of uh I like a lot of the uh the positive feedback that I've gotten from everybody um it's also you know something I've never you don't take into account as a fan uh some of the additional things that go along with with getting something like this um but um I I like some of the uh second and third order effects that it's happened that's gone on you know um I've had a lot of family members that I haven't heard from from a long time um nobody's asking for money or anything like that but just like you know seeing the story and coming out and mentioning it and uh i' I've had a great experience all in all and I'm thankful for it to have happened the way it did yeah and just kind of take me through that moment it's the bottom of the ninth inning you got the bases loaded everyone in that ballpark knows who's coming at the plate what's at stake and he does it in Grand fashion are you anticipating the Home Run coming your way just what were you seeing and then of course the fan originally goes in and out of his glove goes back onto the field to play Jose Siri he takes the ball he throws it in the crowd it ends up right where you're seated but just kind of take me through that moment just walk us through that and everything that transpired I saw the uh the ball coming and I I I knew it was going to be close to being a home run um I couldn't see it from where we were standing there everybody was standing up in front of us but um everybody started gr wild it obviously it was a home run I didn't know that it had gone back into the field of play I just saw it coming back our way I didn't know if it skipped off of something or what but man it was like all my dreams of my baseball dreams had come true since I had been like eight years old it was coming right at me and I actually caught it in my glove and I didn't even have time to close it before it was knocked out quickly um and uh I don't know you know I don't know how it was just it was pure chaos where it landed which was on us and uh I thought it was gone forever um my father-in-law Dove on the ground my son was standing there didn't know what to do and uh I looked down and it it came to rest between my foot and my son's and uh I just pinned it against the cement at the base of the bleachers and and grabbed it and uh started going crazy man it was wild yeah we saw you man pouring the the tall boy beer just celebrating look like Stone Cold Steve Austin I mean just going out there having the moment of your life and this was your first time at Dodger Stadium I believe yeah it was it was there's an interesting backstory I know a lot of people don't like like hearing it all so they're mostly interested in the uh the baseball but U he there's some pretty unique circumstances behind it why that happened interesting what are those unique circumstances well uh this is to me more powerful to in my life than the baseball right like my wife and I uh we moved here from Alabama in 2021 we' been foster parents in Alabama and uh there's this little boy that's he was in our care he's been he's been back and forth through the system uh he's about four and a half years old now and um we F he came back into our lives again and we filed for custody uh last year and um we've been going through a pretty bitter custody battle back and forth to Alabama um constantly um we've spent a lot of money um it's been it's really it's it's torn us apart almost emotionally financially or um you know uh psychologically too and um last my father-in-law was here in in Bakersfield because we had flown to Alabama for what we thought was supposed to be our final place hearing and on Wednesday finally the judge said that we have full custody of of William he's the little boy that we were we were fighting for custody for and um and it was it was such a relief to hear that and um I couldn't do you know that celebration that I did at the stadium in the courthouse obviously but um we flew back um grateful that he's in our lives permanently now and um I just told my father-in-law let's just go to a game man let's go check it out um I've never been there he'd never been there we're both Cubs fans and um to have an opportunity like that land in your lap at at that moment at that as all those events kind of coalesced um you know the ball is great I like having the ball that's cool maybe I can help some people out you know my family and everything like that but um the experience that that life has presented me with is far more profound than whatever whatever might come of that ball that's really powerful stuff really interesting to hear that backstory there and just kind of Paints the whole picture of that moment and what it means to you and your family now as far as what happened immediately after the ball there's the conversation about the authentication process the fact that it went back to Siri and Siri threw it back into the crowd what happened immediately after the ball and what how did the authentication process go well there was no authentication um the uh there was a security personnel approached me you could see it in a few of the videos and he said we're going to verify that that's a milestone ball we'll take you down to center field and uh do the authentication of it and um he never came back he just told me to wait there he never came back um I I was just left standing there not knowing what to do so I started walking around after about 20 minutes finding security Personnel see what I was supposed to do um I I went through a lot of the different Personnel it seemed like a lot of them didn't know exactly what was supposed to happen finally I ended up at the center field Gateway there um it seemed to be the highest concentration of security Personnel asked them and then they told me hey the the Dodgers aren't interested in the ball you're free to leave and um I said well I'd like to you know I'm interested in the ball and I want to you know show people that this happened and uh uh off duty police officer or actually he was on duty police officer came over and told me he said there's private organizations that specialize in in authentication of those things you know and it would it would have to be done on you know through me um individually and and not through the Dodgers and so uh I reached out to the Dodgers um and uh they actually contacted me last night one of their representatives and she confirmed you know kind of like hey yeah uh sorry you were just kind of left standing there that wasn't supposed to happen um and she apologized and I'm thankful that she got back to me and I said you know it's it kind of messed up nobody nobody said anything to me and she said you know we'd like to reconcile that you know I know it was an awkward moment and she offered a uh she said you know we'd like to offer you a signed baseball U not sure which player would be available for that and then she said um they would give us some tickets to the game and uh you know I I was happy you know that she at least reached back out and explained it um I I think there may be a disconnect in in what the security personel understand is supposed to happen and what isn't supposed to happen so I think it was just a mistake and so uh you know now it's clear to me what what's supposed to happen but it was really weird you know standing there with this ball amongst all these Dodgers fans and I'm a Cubs fan and uh I know a lot of people probably want it nobody was aggressive or anything like that but um I was just it was weird standing there having that item on you so are you going to pursue authentication of the baseball and will will you be able to do that and what do you expect the kind of the value will to be for this ball ultimately um I have pursued uh getting the V the baseball authenticated through a private agency and um not sure what the cost will be for it uh but I know it'll be a lot more than what I've already been offered uh which is significant amount um nothing over six digits uh but definitely over five digits um and I told them I wouldn't you know announce to everybody what the uh actual bids bids were offers were but um you know uh I know if I don't get authenticated I I'm losing you know whatever I got to spend on the authentication it'll be I'd lose I'd make it back with it being authenticated at that point so um but I I don't know if I want to sell it or not I don't know if I want to auction it I don't know but I know how whatever ends up being the case it's best to get it authenticated and so that's what I'm going to do so ultimately are you happy with how the Dodgers handle this situ ation if the Dodgers reach out to you and say hey Troy we invite you back to the stadium you take a picture with show Otani get some autograph baseballs get a bat maybe some tickets would you accept something like that or do you think ultimately it's either you keep the ball or you sell the ball um am I happy with how they how it was handled um not really not really um I I kind of uh I don't want to sound bitter I'm not bitter I'm really not bitter I know it's a weird situation for everybody I get it um but uh I I I definitely you know they I think we've reconciled that whole you know whatever happened at the end of the game we've reconciled that for sure and I'm not mad about it I'm actually I'm super happy about that it's it's gone the way it has and it went that way for a reason so you know um it was it was weird strange I'm sure there's a lot of things that could have been done better but um I'm I'm I'll move forward from it and I'm not gonna speak badly about the organization yeah absolutely and look at the end of the day the moment is the moment you're the guy who ended up with a piece of History so you can cherish that there's no doubt about that but we thank you so much Troy we congratulate you for ending up with that ball whatever you decide to do with it the moment is the most special part of it all wouldn't you agree I do absolutely man well thank you so much for joining us here on Dodgers dougout live have a great rest of your day have a great rest of your week we to see have more Dodgers games we hope to see you convert from a Cubs fan to a Dodgers fan I'm telling you dodger blue is better than Cubs blue I can tell you that but uh have a great rest of your day and uh whatever you do decide to do with that ball man just let us know anytime you make a decision my man thank you all right thank you so much that was Troy buente the man who ended up with SH otani's 40th home run ball sounds to me like he's going through that authentication process we'll see how much it ends up going for if they can prove that it's his is there is a complication of course anytime you leave the stadium for me I'm not leaving that Stadium until someone authenticates that baseball you're going to have to drag me at of Dodgers Stadium unless that's authenticated because at that point you fear that it's worth 24.99 which is the price of a Major League baseball right you don't want it to be that price but I truly believe though at the end of the day it's like it really is the moment itself and the story with his his family and just having that moment how spectacular and special that was me that really at the end of the day you can't put a price on that and you can't put value on that that's monetary so at the end of the day I think it was a cool moment but uh let me know Down Below in the comments section what would you do with that baseball but let's get into Jayson Heyward Signs With Astros the leadoff the hottest story in Dodger [Music] baseball so just a few minutes before the show we learned that Jason Hayward is going to be signing with the Houston Astros look okay Jason I know you're mad I know you're upset but this is a little too far signing with the Houston Astros a team that could face the Dodgers in the World Series a rival of the Dodgers in a lot of different ways because of the history what happened in 2017 but look I'm only kidding this is a business baseball's a business and Jason Hayward has the right to do whatever he wants to do sign with whoever he wants to sign with the truth of the matter is is that Jason Hayward still has some baseball left in the tank and Jason Hayward still can help teams in this sport especially a contender in a very specific role and yes the numbers they were down this year compared to last season last year it was 20% above League average offensively for the Dodgers a 120 weight to runs created plus this year a 991 weighted runs created plus 9% below League average but what he does do well still is he can hit against this year has had more sucess against lefties but against righties last two years he's been above average and also if you look at the babit numbers the hard contact numbers a lot of the numbers that will tell you wait a second did he have some bad luck did he have some bad luck and it will tell you that yes he did have some bad luck this season with the Dodgers and that reflected in the statistics and I think for me if you want to be encouraged if you're the Astros with Jason Hayward and what he could do for your team I think that's where you look at first the fact that the hard hit rate this year for him is actually higher than it was last year and that to me is a reason why he could have some success also a 224 batting average on balls in play for Jason Hayward this season League average is 290 so he's at 224 League average is 290 and last year when he had a successful season with the Dodgers that babit was at 291 so it's going to balance out a little bit and you're also if you get some opportunities you hope that the ground ball rate will go down again last year had a 41.4% ground ball rate he was lifting the ball when I talked to Jason Hayward last season he said that was one of the biggest Keys is keeping the ball in the air not rolling over this year that ground ball rate has gone from 41.4% last year and this year to 51.4% so 10% increase so that's where he's at and you look at the finances I mean with what he was getting paid with the Dodgers signed a one-year $9 million contract and at this part of the season when they did F him that was at around 1.8 million so at that price based on his production he was always going to clear waivers no team was going to pick up Jason Hayward and take that money off the Dodgers books but it was very clear that a team was going to take a flyer on him because he's still an above average outfielder he can still have success against right-handed pitching and he's a clubhouse presence he has intangibles that can help a World Series Contender and and the Astros all they have to pay Jason Hayward is the pro-rated portion of the league minimum which is $740,000 so let me rephrase that for you Jason hayward's basically free for the Astros because the Dodgers they're going to be paying the remainder of that salary that he's owed a little over $1.8 million Astros had to pay the pro rator of the league minimum basically what the Dodgers did a couple years ago when the Cubs let him go and you look at the Astros where they're at Kyle Tucker we know how good he is when he's in the lineup but he f a ball off in June that led to an injury and he's been out of the lineup so they could use some help there and we'll see I mean if the here's the thing if the Dodgers are facing Jason Hayward this season at any point it's a good thing it means they're in the World Series it means that baseball got a matchup that is going to be electric that's going to have storylines that is going to bring eyeballs to the screens and butts to the seats something it didn't have last year when he had record low so am I upset with Jason Hayward I'm not because the truth of the matter is is that Jason Hayward was not going to have an opportunity to have Mary have any starts limit at bat you're probably looking at a guy that was going to get two three at bats a week and I said it before I'll say it again the writing was on the wall the minute that Muki bets went back to right field it does sting a little bit because of who it is it's the Astros and kind of the storyline of it all because of what Jason Hayward really kind of it it just based on Freddy Freeman's comments to mik D giovana of the LA Times the other day where it was clear that he was not about it Mike D giovana tweet out asked how Jason haward is doing Freddy Freeman said I don't think he's talking to anybody I mean would you guys be wanting to talk to anyone if you got fired from your job I've had three text messages from him and that's three more than a lot of other people I have received and he also tweeted Dodgers first baseman Freddy Freeman said Jason hayward's DFA quote felt like 2014 all over again alluding to hayward's trade from the Braves to the Cardinals it's above my pay grade about what the decisions and all that stuff are but just personally it's sad so J ha in Houston sound off in the comments section I want to hear what you guys have to say we got Bala K what's up bow give you a little fire take right there all caps imagine judge Ozuna bonds Alvarez Vlad Jr stto Rooker Seager Alonzo Maguire yeah y all talking about some dream Labs here we got we have to keep on winning or we lose the number one spot from Martin that's the worst team he could go to that's from Denny Cortez no one cares to see Baltimore in the World Series that's from the infamous Guapo any other team is fine except trastos in my opinion that's from Rebecca give you a little finish him right there little trastos Tris hey you know what maybe this is the Astros signing him to get some Intel on the Dodgers wouldn't put it past them wouldn't put it past the trash to do something like that we got Carlos pre would have rather seen Hayward return to Atlanta or Philly Houston Padre or Giants cannot be forgiven give you a little fire take for that one we got uh Cari Perez damn Hayward he is out for Revenge versus the daers do you guys truly believe that's the case I don't I think that it's the situation because let's be honest here Jason Hayward a below average bat heting around 200 this season he didn't have many options I doubt there were tons of teams lining up for his Services I'm sure he had some other interested suitors but the offer the Astros offered him the best chance to have a rooll have an opportunity especially with Kyle tuck Noise by Noel what up now Noise by Noel he says I would give that ball to Dodger Stadium for a lifetime supply of Carnitas toras that's a com of the show that's a com for the show I would give that ball for just one delicious tort you know we got uh the infamous El Guapo Say It Ain't So J he yeah that one hurts that one hurts it's a little we got beer Sama I'm upset that he joined the Astros but at the same time I don't blame him considering how the Dodgers let him go beer samis it was the business decision I've broken it down from every single angle and the truth of the matter is that Jason Hayward being a left-handed right fielder that was primarily going to get at bats against right-handed pitching it just was not going to be an option for this team they're still high on Chris Taylor they still think that he has a chance to have some success last couple months of the Season before the injury Chris Taylor was a superior hitter to Jason Hayward and hayward's dealt with some back injuries some knee injuries and also you got Andy pz that still could be an option for this team Dalton rushing could be an option for this team as well so Jason hay were just wasn't going to make this postseason roster so you have two options if you're J hey I mean the team DFAS you earlier than later gives you enough time to catch in catch on with the team before you can you're limited to not being on a postseason roster right the fact that he's able to to scout the market pick his team and be on their roster in time to make that postseason roster I think the Dodgers people say the Dodgers did them dirty I think the Dodgers did the best thing they could have done for him considering their situation I think the worst thing the Dodgers could have done for Jason Hayward was keep him in the fold go up to him said hey man how's that back is it barking how's that knee is it barking you want to go on the 10day iil then we'll get to September when the rosters expand then we'll have you in the mix and you kind of compete for a spot that you're unlikely going to make no then what do Jason ha would do then he's in the Dugout wearing a Dodgers hoodie and he's a cheerleader instead he gets to play for a team that he at least has a better shot of participating in the postseason I think the Dodgers did Jason Hayward is solid in the grand scheme of things unless you're looking from the Viewpoint that Jason Hayward was going to make this 13-man postseason roster we've done the roster crunch essentially every day on the show it feels like you guys find a away for for Jason haward on this team in the postseason because what really hurts him is the versatility I've given you some scenarios if you use him to pinch it for Miguel roas then you have to make multiple switches because he doesn't play in the infield doesn't play the short stop position so you're limited to what you can do with him Muki bets is the Dodgers right fielder he's going to be there 100% of the time if this team knows what it's doing especially in the postseason so he would just be a a bench bat and a depth piece it's not like he's a guy that you're going to use a pinch Runner it's not like you're going to use him as a defensive substitution his defense is is good but not good enough to justify a defensive substitution like a Tommy Edmond or or Kevin Kier or anything like that so I definitely definitely don't think the Dodgers did him dirty I think the Dodgers made the right baseball decision here's the thing if you didn't love Jason Hayward the person and what he brings I don't think he would care that much um when is glass now returning stay tuned for that we'll get some injury news in a little bit get some more comments far away guys let me know all your takes J hey to the trash Ros we got to dice melon what up dmax 6 days until I'm in Cali for the first time and first time at Dodger Stadium next Friday I'm going to give you a let's go Dodgers for that hope you have a great time hopefully Shi goes on a crazy tear and somehow someway you catch his 45 45 ball or his 5050 ball this time let me tell you this do not leave the stadium until that thing's authenticated don't do it I don't care what a security guard tells you you asked to talk to Major League BAS ball Personnel Dodger Personnel cuz we're talking about a difference of a couple hundred, so do not leave that Stadium if you catch otani's home runball going to Blue Heaven 271 199 appreciate the Super Chat going towards the extend ta fun give you youu win right there I hope Tucker comes back and gets DF again we got the ocean view coffee shop J actually fits perfect on the Astros that is from Ocean View coffee shop Adrien Salazar we got to move on our boys have a World Series to win J going to retire soon anyway exactly so fire away in the comments dmac when will you authenticate my love for you Joel Rodriguez I'll authenticate that right now give you a bruh give you a bruh but also give you a fire take at the same time cuz your Your Love Burns Like Fire towards me man appreciate that we got uh Le that's the thing too I mean he has to wait to authenticate the ball right the 45 45 5050 those are going to be far more valuable so I I would try to if I would if I'm if I'm interested in selling that I'm going to do it very quickly here and we have some examples too of kind of the market a little bit I mean when sh hit 176 when sh hit his 176 home run on April 21st against the Mets of Adrien Hower he surpassed Hadi matui for the most home runs hit by a japanese-born player that ultimately has a $120,000 buy it now I think this ball is more valuable for sure we got Freddy Knight joined the dark side now let that sink in that's from Rebecca we get uh it works both ways everyone's saying it's a business when he was DFA so he's made a smart business deal hate the trash thros but J she's a true professional Noel J-Hey Social Media Reaction Noel & DMAC what's the reaction on social media for Jay ha's new team seems like everybody's really really upset that it's the shows I think that's never going to go away fans are going to be holding that hatred towards Houston for a long long time and like they said J was a professional and one I think everybody was really hurt that he got DFA in the first place a lot of people were saying that the Dodgers should have looked other ways found out ways to keep him on the team but like you said dmac you got to do what best for your own career he wants to finish off being a good place where you could potentially win and I think if we end up seeing Houston you know in the world series that would be pretty special the fans would definitely let J hear it but I mean he got got def by the Dodgers he's got to do what's best for him at that point you can't really be the nice guy but yeah fans are pretty upset yeah absolutely look I think that everything complicates this after he hits that three-run home run it was one of the moments of the season but for the truth is that for the most part this season he has had a down year it's not like he's been raking all season long it's not like he's had big clutch moments all season long it just so happened to be his last with the Dodgers so look I mean he had he hit 176 in his last 30 games did have some big hits but outside those big hits they're all out it's just the truth of the matter is I like to keep it 100 with you guys I I don't want to get emotional about this unless I have to but look Jason Hayward I hope you enjoy your time with the Astros he did go to the dark side the trashtros but like I said if you face him in the postseason it means a lot of things have gone right for the Dodgers we got uh we are still in spring training mode for the playoffs right now so we might only win one that's as from Sammy Boy Smith try to get some more comments over here on your right got dmax ct3 has hasn't done anything for the Dodgers this year e that's from Alex DMAC on Chris Taylor Rania he hasn't anything for the Dodgers this year per se based on his overall totals but like I said last couple of months I mean the truth is he has had success at the plate he has been better offensively than Jason Hayward he did make some mechanical adjustments he also plays more positions he's also better as a pinch Runner he also has $18 million left on his contract so when you add up all those factors right there to me it's a no-brainer I don't think this is a debatable topic I see people debating on social media on Instagram I don't even think this is debatable at all whatsoever if you know what the numbers look like and you know what this team values as far as optionality and positional versatility I don't even think this took I don't even think they thought long and hard about this decision I think they probably thought about for 30 minutes and I think I think they made a decision long before he hit that three-run home run and yes CT in his two games back has been great 0 for three but uh still an extremely small sample size but uh we got dmac I'm your father what's up colossal Jaguar what's up Pops give you a little brother um we got uh carnivorous lunar activity I bet Hayward is happier than Vargas peeka peep Hayward yeah did you see we got another sad sadder this time man my boy my boy Miguel Vargas man someone Someone Saved this guy he went from the best to the worst he went from Baseball Heaven baseball hell in Chicago but at the end of the day cheer up migy VAR I know that's a actually a good situation for him NS says I'd pick km over J 10 out of 10 times Matty mandd we are treating J like he's Tai Cobb or something way below average this season so yeah absolutely there's no way to rephrase it I mean he just has been great didn't have a role nothing really to see here I don't think there's that much to discuss here it's just it's a uh it's this is a deeper storyline because of a couple factors one his relationship with Freddy Freeman two because he hit a home run a three-run go-ahead shot in his last at bat and then three you also have the intangibles from when he was with the Chicago Cubs and how big his raahr speech was into helping move that Chicago Cubs team past that formerly known as the the current Guardians team and the truth is he wasn't good in that series hit 150 so I I'm not worried about this at all but let's transition and we'll keep reading your J takes we got a499 super chat the Dodgers made a DMAC on Jason Heyward Leaving Dodgers business decision to cut J you can't be upset when he makes a business decision on his next team I would say that I'm give you a home run I like that I'm going to say that I have I'm not upset at all whatsoever do you baseball's a business you got to find the best opportunities for yourself Jason Hayward you guys want to play the how much has ex player made in his career try to guess how how much money Jason Hayward has made in his career let's see who can get the closest because Cubs fans will tell you that uh that's one of the worst contracts that they have ever signed it actually not even is they they widely considered the worst contract they've ever signed it's the it's the worst contract in Cubs franchise history so I'm not one of those guys by the way who's like oh when the player on my team I love him when he's on the other team I hate him that's not who I am I'm really not that that kind of guy but I mean he did sign so Jason Hayward had 618 hits with the Cubs after signing that $184 million contract 618 hits you know what that means that means he got paid $297,700 per hit I mean come on now let's be honest if J K is on that final AB no one cares that's from 818 La raika Christopher um Dodger need to lock in and be on a revenge tour this team should be absolutely embarrassed at being the laughing stock of baseball getting bait two years in a row by vastly inferior teams in the nlds look I'm going to give that a comment of the show and I think that embarrassment feels people I'll never forget when Vince Skully was telling the Vin Scully "Mental Briefcase" story about his preparation for his broadcast and he would say that he would use a mental briefcase right you have to fill the briefcase with all the research all the stories knowing you're probably only going to use 1% of what's in that briefcase and that's how in-depth that preparation was that the goat Vin Scully did and they asked Vin why he did that and he said I was afraid to get embarrassed I didn't want to get embarrassed and I think that the greats have that mindset as well either you got embarrassed by a loss or performance and then you let that feel your work and your prep for your next opportunity and then it's Revenge season it's comeback season and I absolutely think that there's pressure on all the stars on this team and this organization that yes you have won 21 games the last two seasons and you have exactly one postseason win to show for it that's not good enough that's unacceptable and they'll tell you that they told Otani that they told Otani that one World Series was still a disappointment for them so I'm trying to make this point clear is that this organization is as hungry as anyone we got to Eric I'm glad to see hayward's last home run at Dodgers Stadium Kelly ooshiro I'm listening to you while walking through the Japanese History Museum in L Tokyo LOL sh Kelly oir hey enjoy that museum man uh mood swing dmac with the crazy Mast ass what's up mood swing little fire take right there uh Ken War dmac if we lose Dodgers/Braves Comparison this year we're going to be the Braves 2.0 it's a fair it's a fair comp if you lose this year I mean to be honest you could already make that comp now because the Braves won a World Series in their 14-year stretch of winning the division the Dodgers division streak was sna but they' made 11 straight consecutive postseasons so you could already make that comparison now if we're being completely honest but coming up subscribe and comment go it's that easy and then we're announce our next giveaway too guys so be on the lookout for that but coming up here in our next segment we're going to get some injury news because look yes you want to Injury Updates win the division yes you want to win the best record in the National League and in baseball but the Dodgers need the front of their rotation to get healthy for them to have any chance of winning the world series and right now their top two starters are not in the rotation they're both on the iil we're going to start with yoshinobu Yamamoto so some positive news on yoshinobu Yamamoto Yamamoto is going to throw a bullpen session on Monday which was yesterday which he did which went well and he's going to make his first Rehab start for triaa Oklahoma City on Wednesday when the OKC Dodgers take on Round Rock if that goes as planned he'll make one more Rehab start and then he'll rejoin the Dodgers in September midt so Bullpen yesterday check Rehab start Wednesday against Round Rock check and then one more after that if all goes well and then he will be back in this Dodgers rotation that'll give him exactly two more starts hopefully to ramp up for the postseason now would I like to have more starts than that I absolutely would would I like him to be healthy and back on the mound now just to get back to where he was I would but let's not forget how dominant he was before he got injured so the last time we saw Yamamoto was at home against the Kansas City Royals he went two innings gave no runs on one hit left that game after just 28 pitches but before that it was his best start as a Dodger and it was on a big stage in New York against the Yankees went seven innings gave up zero runs allowed just two hits had seven punch outs and two walks through 106 pitches my man was pumping 97 against the Rockies one and run on six Innings of work I mean outside of his start against the Padres he has been a top 10 to 15 pitcher in Major League Baseball so getting him back a guy that loves the bright lights in the big stage it's going to be absolutely key because he locks into as your number two starter he is the second best starting pitcher potentially for the Dodgers now who's the first that's Tyler glass now so Tyler glass now we got an update on glass he played catch from 60 feet over the weekend it was light wasn't intense just light catch from 60 feet Dave Roberts told us that he came out of it feeling good but that his rehab process is going to be slow so he came out of it feeling good but the rehab process is going to be slow they're not going to rush him back this feels sounds based on what I've heard this is maintenance this is trying to make sure he is at 100% or as close to it as possible and has a lot left in the tank for the postseason run they're going to need four five starts from him dominant starts in the postseason 20 25 innings and he's already set a career high with 30 134 regular season Innings pitched so he's obliterated his career high when it comes to regular season Innings he's at 134 and that's the biggest key so what's the next box they need to check off for Tyler glass now well the next is that you go from plank catch at 60 feet to 90 feet and after that 12 ft so now it's just about stretching him out and having him go from play catch from 6 to 90 to 120 ft he has de elbow injuries throughout his career he did have an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery but outside of that he has been healthy he does feel good he didn't have a big velocity drop he did think he could still pitch on that Saturday start against the Astros when he ultimately was iel so I'm not overly concerned about this I think this is the right move by the Dodgers they've got bitten too many times from losing starting pitchers in the past you look look what happened in 2021 2021 Walker beer 204 Innings julu oras that arm was taxed as well you lose Clayton Kershaw last weekend of the season so hey if you get Tyler and Yamamoto back in mid-september at the very least we should get them early in the postseason which is better than what we've seen in the last couple years in 20122 you had Julio and kurur going game one and two they weren't great they weren't bad they weren't though it wasn't Elite Julio gave three runs wasn't Elite courage gave three runs didn't go deep into games Tony gonlin didn't look good in game three he was compromised wasn't 100% and the one guy that did Pitch well in Tyler Anderson Tyler Anderson he got pulled too early in my opinion I still believe that and then last year you had a compromised curse in game one Bobby Miller as a rookie in game two and Lance Lynn in game three so this is going to be the best starting staff potentially that they've rolled out since 2020 and I think that the ceiling for this staff is higher than that one so excited about the possibilities and then sh Otani so an injury update on sh Otani well first and foremost sh Otani did get hit on the forearm the left forearm and x-rays were negative he's 100% fine there's nothing that is going to linger with that in my opinion love lady was pitching inside I do think that pitchers should get penalized for multiple hit batters in an inning I don't know if that means having that runner go to second base go to third base ejecting him but there's got to be something or I think if you get to a certain amount of hit batters for a season it could lead to in a suspension those were his first two hit batters of the season but still I digress on that one the big news for sh Otani was he threw a bullpen he threw a 10 pitch Bullpen session and Dave Robert said that he came out of that Bullpen session feeling good good and they's going to throw off of a mound again in about a week so that's definitely definitely promising news sh Otani throwing that Bullpen session 10 pitches he's wearing the Freeman shirt I was like man Freddy Freeman got the Freddy Freeman tea out there and he was looking good so let's not forget this is a guy who's making history at the plate and he's got a career ER of around three he's a top five pitcher when healthy so that's definitely positive and then bruar graterol another positive injury update on him give a let's go Dodgers gr all through a bullpen session over the weekend he's going to go on a rehab assignment sometime this week so we all thought he was done for the season he was carried off the mound after throwing just eight pitches in the Dodgers lost to the Phillies on August 6th we thought it was over for bruar Dave told us it was a Grade Three hamstring strain see it in 2025 at the earliest wait a minute JK Dave tolds us the next day it's a grade one and things are looking good and I definitely think he's going to factor into the Dodgers postseason Bullpen because he was one of the Dodgers best Bullpen pieces he's riding a 25 inning scoreless streak into this season he was outstanding last year so Bruce dark gral could be another big booster to this team and you go from grade three to grade one that's the least severe type of strain based on the work he already put in on the shoulder inflammation the fact it's lower body and it's not anything to do with his arm his shoulder his elbow I'm very very encouraged by bruar I think the Bazooka is going to be back and then next one Austin Barnes Austin Barnes this one you just don't know how these are going to linger but a left toe big fracture for Austin Barnes he's been on the 10day iil he suffered that left toe bit that left big toe fracture on August 18th he finished out the game but after the game they took Imaging and that Imaging revealed a fracture to his big toe they put him on the iil Dave Robert said that it's supposed to be the minimum stay for him so the soon as he can be back is on August 29th this week so hopefully it's a short stint you get him back and he's going to be just fine so Austin Barnes he should be back and then Tony gonlin that was the big surprise will the Catman be back on the meow for the Dodgers this season well Tony godlin he is optimistic that he can help this team for the remainder of the season and we could see him at some point in September Dave Roberts said that the door is quote slightly open for him to return this year he pitched three live batting practice sessions in Arizona before he rejoined the Dodgers last week in La the fast balls hovering around 92 and 94 milph the command has continued to get better and team trainer Ron Porterfield is saying that hey the stuff looks good the velocity looks good now the question is in what capacity because there's not enough time to consider him as a starting pitcher you don't have time to build him up to go four five innings but could you use him out of the bullpen is he someone that has that Bullpen stuff I think they have better options at least for this year I think it's tough to put them in that situation I see Tony gonlin as a starting pitcher as a number three four five starting pitcher he had his Lin sanity run a couple years ago when he made the All-Star team but still think he can help this team but I think that it's more of a depth piece at this point yes you could short burst him potentially as well we got Pika peep says the Catman still has eight lives to work with it's a fire take I like that one uh Big Joe smad dmad can I get a bruh for J signing with the trash can give you a Bruh Bruh we got golf keep glass down Yamamoto in bubble wrap until the playoffs yes let's go Dodgers for that one wonder if Otani will make a surprise spot relief appearance in the postseason Carl that's not going to happen Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes has already shot down that idea he's not going to pitch this year Dave Roberts has said that too could it happen I mean I remember talking to someone earlier in the year from the team they said if you wanted to maybe but that's a tough situation and if you're relying on Otani coming out of the 10 in October a lot of things have gone wrong and it's probably unlikely that they went far in the postseason to begin with we got uh Pika peep Yamamoto is GNA prove folks wrong when he comes back yeah yamamoto's the man yamamoto's he is uh I mean go look at him pitching the Japan Series last year Yamoto is he's a dog Yamoto is the way he carries himself the way that it he just doesn't feel he's the most UNR iie looking player I've ever seen and yes he's a professional in the mpb but he's still 25 years old and that is an age where a lot of rookies start to come up in the show so Yoto is going to do work for this team I'm very very excited about getting him back and getting him healthy but it's a big X Factor as well okay so we're do some quick three up three down some quick three up three down before heading out of this one so we got let's read some more comments here dmag what is your prediction for the next two series let's go Dodgers from Trey Serrano give you a little home run right there there little Super Chat my prediction I like this series against the Orioles and the Dodgers alltime in league play against the O's 11- s they went 4-2 in Los Angeles and that counts when they face off in the 1966 World Series the last time that Sandy kofax was a dodger but I think this is a really good matchup I mean you got two of the best teams in baseball the rers you're at 78 and 53 you've taken five your last six games against two solid opponents of the Mariners and the Rays and the Orioles they have the sixth best record in baseball the Orioles they're at 76 and 56 not far behind the Dodgers and they're one of just the top cusp of teams one of only a handful of teams that are really vying for that top spot I mean they're in a tough division the American League east and you look at the pitching matchups I think one thing to consider for this series is the re set and moving things around as far as the starting rotation because I'll tell you the number one storyline to look at in this series is how will Walker beer look will this be Walker Beer's last start as a Dodger because he got rocked will he show some progress and give him more opportunities will he get rocked and they still give him more opportunities berer thinks he found something in his last start with his delivery and that that's going to help him moving forward and that the big difference with Walker be now it's when he misses he knows why it's not this big what if and he's not staying up at night wondering what's going wrong he knows what's going wrong when it's going wrong and I think you want to see some more curveball from him you want to see the some improved command but he's going to be going on Wednesday Tuesday you got Jack flarity going up against his old team and you got Walker beer on Wednesday and Bobby Miller on Thursday who look great in his last start Bob Miller was fantastic in his last start so I'm very excited to see if he can build on that 18 swings and misses nine strikeouts a quality start give a to give some long balls give the three home runs but still I think Bobby Miller start talking about Bobby Miller again that kind of stuff is tough to keep out of your rotation and out of your Bullpen the way he's throwing the pill of late so I'm excited about Bobby Miller and then that middle start Walker beer is going to be big and then you're also going to face Ace level pitching in this series so another to look out for is how the Dodgers fare against Corbin Burns Burns is going to be up against Walker beer on Wednesday but you also get two lefties in this matchup Cole Irvin and Kade Povich so the Dodgers have faced a lot of lefties of late look for Kik Hernandez to get some opportunities this series against lefties think the player of the series is Muki bets though I think this is where Muki starts to get rolling cuz he had hit 167 his last 30 at bats before going deep with his goad two-run shot against the Rays I think mooki really starts to get rolling in this series but uh I have the Dodgers you know what you going to I got them taken two out of three I was right against the Rays two out of three love to say sweet but Corbin Burns Walker ber has to prove it show me something berer show me you still got it show me that you're still in there this is the start to prove just that against a very talented and explosive lineup in the Orioles but we'll go to you Tony taters prediction for this series prediction for this series three games against the O's how many of those games did the Dodgers win oh man the orals you know they're a Powerhouse you know they got Gund Henderson there he's really fun to watch and he's probably going to do pretty well for against the Dodgers I hate to say but I'm going to stick to two out of three two out of three player of the series um let's go with mookie bets like he said Marcus Lind bets and let's hope for Walker beer to have a solid bounce that's the number one storyline if he could have a strong start and beer has a strong start you're looking at guys that could change their stock significantly and also Jack flarity he told us that he is in a funk he said himself he's still getting outs but it's about putting hitters away not falling behind hitters executing pitches in the right situation I still think that we are going to see the best version of Jack flarity and I hope it happens in the series because he did not Pitch well for them when he was traded to the O last year from the Cardinals so Jack flarity as good as he's been he been five plus innings in each Each His Four starts he's gotten six Innings just one time that was against the Pirates where he had the 10 punch ups but let's see some signature Jack Flair did show that dog against Ros Ry which is important in my book but let's go to you Mr Young Lotto Noel Sanchez three games against the O's what we taking I got the Dodgers sweeping got the Dodgers sweeping I like it give me three in a row I really want to see walk go crazy want to see him get that confidence up I saw a good re yesterday that actually reposted on my account this man was saying that fans need to give Walker beer an ation kind of like what the Phillies fans they with Trey Turner get his confidence back up they said give motivation all the way while he's warming up through the time he walked up to the mound that might be a little long but I do hope that fans go and just show him a lot of love cheer for him get his energy rolling cuz we need beer to get back to butane for sure yeah I know and I hear that and I get it like the trade Turner thing I don't buy that at all no what what if it was during Co there's no fans in the stand what are you going to do you just going I'm a bad player the cardboard cutouts going to screen for me at this level go out there and B execute okay no facts I agree but I do I do have belief in him that he's going to do well my player of the series is going to be the Scott or Hernandez I want to see go crazy T I like it I like it how about you Tony ters we got home home run tonight home run call shot hey they're facing they're facing Tony ters they're facing Tony the real Tony ters I got to challenge him to a home run derby or something for the the nickname oh you would crush him no but uh actually I was checking out uh some Tik Tok yesterday and there's like some post going like give Walker berer like a stand Standing Ovation exactly yeah exact me like what do you think about that dmac like I just said I mean like it's all cute and I think it's nice and it's warm but ber you this is a free agent that a couple years ago looked like he was a locked to sign a $150 to $200 million contract okay you guys can scream and shout as loud as you want this guy doesn't need any more motivation that he already just gives himself I mean he wants to be a part of this postseason roster I do think that supporting your guys is big and I think that they feed off the energy of the crowd I'm not saying it wouldn't be a great moment but I almost think two would be like okay guys I get it like you think I'm bad right now and I need this I would almost be like if it was me like shut up Let Me Pitch all what if it's an ovation after he goes six or seven Innings oh that's great I mean it's beautiful I mean you you want to give the guys the support but at the end of the day this La man like this is this is Los Angeles La New York like man you guys you know how it is man you better perform here this is the city of stars this is the city of great athletes you perform here at a very high standard and you'll get the love okay ain't no charity courtesy Standing Ovation stuff I mean no no no no not in Los Angeles we got Rebecca Michelle David in the chat saying I predict Luxy the and Freddy hit thas out of the park I like that take yeah exactly for sure for sure we got I predict give me your home run shots you know what I'm going with tonight I'm going to go with player he's from OSU Japan sh Otani I heard him he's pretty good how's how's the what's the season like so far it's been it's been decent it's been decent I I by the way way I'll we we we'll save the three up three down I got a good three up three down for you where this Mets guy is trying to push Lindor over Otani because he says that Otani only plays 10 minutes G minutes I just saw that the Mets podcast at lockon Mets yeah that's the thing I come on bro I didn't want to mess with my my uh fellow locked on bre there so but uh I go easy we'll talk about that tomorrow but guys give me your called shots down below and let me know where you guys who you guys have as your player of the series so let's read those and we'll we head out of this one super chats any any final takes any walk-off shots will read those as well we got Rebecca's never heard of him either yeah he's really good I think he goes deep I think show goes deep tonight we got to get 50 got Serena in the chat we got Serena in the chat Ser in the chat is she Dro her C shot she said damn dmac no chill no I was trying to spread some love and motivation look I mean dmac keeps it real on the show that that's that's what my whole thing it's not that I'm it's not that I am against fans if you want to give your guys support I love it I mean the Dodgers have the best fans in baseball I think because they're a smart fan base they know when to cheer they know when to be quiet they don't always know when to do the wave let's be honest but um that's what I love about this town though it's just like you know put up a shut up you know I mean like it's this LA's not like like Kobe Bryant said the Lakers aren't for everyone Los Angeles isn't for everyone okay if you want to take that to Philly supposed to be a hard noos town tooo that gave him support that's fine but I think that Walker ber all true blue Dodgers fans support Walker ber and wanted to pitch well unless you're a bandwagon fan that just joined this team a couple years ago you saw what he did and how pivotal he was for this team in 2018 in 2019 in 2020 what he's capable of I'm just here to tell you talking to Walker berer there's no one that believes in himself more than berer there's no one that's as fired up as ber he still got it in there it just it's going to take some time it's coming off his another major surgery Mike m says dmac will do a shoy get the Dodger sweep for a sweep I don't know maybe I'll do a I'll do a uh I'll do a cppy I'll do it I'll do a cupy we we we all drink it out of here dmac you have told us two of three games now that the next start will be Beer's last start or else enough already I but he has but he's continued to earn some momentum I mean let's just be honest I mean last start wasn't the worst in the world and he I think he deserves that as well I think uh you also look at the Alternatives but that's going to do it for this episode of Dodgers Doug out live my name is Doug McCain you can me on X and Instagram at dmaca if you haven't yet do us a huge favor and subscribe to the number one Dodgers YouTube channel Mor lad says Alx Homer I like a lux
