just uh through kind of the bul of fall camp now your overall impressions of of the wide receivers things you've liked maybe things you've disliked so far yeah for the most part what I do like is the competition every gu's coming in today and throughout the whole Camp is just attacking it right they know that the next gu is just as good enough as them to go ahead and compete so the competition's been the one of the best part about uh the fall Camp how have you seen the guys kind of respond obviously you lose Carlos early on but you know it seems like a lot of guys have kind of stepped into bigger roles and be able to kind of take that on the run is that something you've kind of seen as well that guys like Hudson and BG have have taken on some bigger roles on the outside yeah like those guys like Hut for example like he's played college football before you know and BG has been learning a lot from every guy that's in the building um and those guys you know they didn't step up they were ready for the opportunity um just like we talked about throughout recruiting so uh BG is doing a great thing on the outside being a vertical threat and you know catching some hard balls over the middle as well same as Hut want to ask specifically about uh Leon Neil Jr guy who's you know stuck it out through maybe opportunities to go elsewhere change positions and it seems like he's kind of really establish himself now in that slot what have you seen from a guy like him who has just kind of stayed true to the grind and and not tried to take an easy way out at any point yeah he's been disciplin to his routine um and other thing about Leon like Leon wants to play you know and he's shown that every day especially from his passionate standpoint he cares a lot about football and um I'm glad he's here for us here about Chris Barnes I know he's a little banged up right now but to come in here as a true freshman and kind of you know establish himself that way how's he even able to you know pull that off oh man he he had a great high school program that prepared him from this um that's why he CHS Northshore um and he's a guy that's you know does everything right and they did do a great job of grooming him from that standpoint he asked a lot of questions in the meeting room um and I love everything about what he's doing right now for us and then I was also going to ask about Kai Williams who I talked to him the other day just about his growth you know as a guy and he mentioned you just as a guy that he's kind of grown close to as he's gone through his you know development here at WSU um how close are you guys and kind of what role do you think you've kind of had in in terms of just kind of him growing as a guy here talk about kaon uh no I'm sorry Kyle Williams Oh Kyle Williams Kyle sorry yeah oh yeah me and Kyle uh the relationship grow you know being you know transfer last year and you know working throughout that relationship has been great um he's taking a a a great approach and he's been developing uh being a leader for the whole entire room and for the whole ENT ire team um he's been doing a great job from that standpoint and on top of that he's just trying to master his craft every day so uh whatever opportunities in front of him from Saturday standpoint he's ready for them he he kind of mentioned to me that like earlier in his life it wasn't as easy for him to ask for help just from coaches from Friends things like that now as he gets older in kind of this the second stage of his life he finds it easier to do that have you been able to pick up on that with him just kind of coming around and it's it's easier for him to ask for help sometimes yeah I think he's still in his first stage of Life he's still a young not stage but just gu but for the most part man he's he's uh he found a way to you know to trust me and trust all the other coaches upstairs and that's just through conversation um and just through throughout honesty and Kyle can do a good job of detecting when somebody's lying or not and I feel like he trusts us and you know that's where you know the true dialogue you know really starts and I think that's where his games are start to elevate where he can truly trust us um to make him a better player and better person overall when we were just talking to coach uh he specifically said Hudson had answered I guess a lot of maybe questions that you guys had in the beginning of camp and throughout Camp he's kind of answered those questions what do you see specifically from him that might have been answered or maybe he's more consistent or what what kind of might have been answered for you guys I think he just you know when he first got here you know it's a hard transition when you come you know from Oregon to here um and your expectations um I think for him for the most part is was you know getting him to be disciplined into his r um just coming here like you're a freshman and you're trying to truly earn yourself rather than think that you're uh a person that you know deserve it and I think that's one of the things that you know he finally kind of settled in and uh matured in that way to just truly attack practice and showcase your talent every day specifically that group and as far as the scrimmage tomorrow what are you looking for from them and maybe is it more experimental or you're kind of just putting out what you've normally been putting out I guess yeah for us you know from a mindset standpoint from a scri to a practice the same approach right we don't try to get too high we don't try to get too low for the main thing that I want to see is just consistency right and just making sure that the guys bringing their energy and they're working on their craft so we can get better you shouldn't have to change anything from practice to a scrimmage it's just doing what you're taught to do and any I know Kyle is kind of an obvious answer to this but are there any specific voices in that locker room in the receiver group that are kind of sticking out with you is maybe not even on the field as much as just there being that voice and the leader um outs uh Josh Meredith he's one of the other guys that's been vocal he's been with me you know last year as well um he's been doing some amazing things for us uh Josh has stepped up in that role in being a leader another guy that I would say uh is Kyle Maxwell the guy that's been around the block um going on his last year uh and when Kyle speaks as well everybody listens um so there is a group of those guys that's you know stepping up from a leadership standpoint and um it's awesome to see from that standpoint we talked to Max maxw a couple days ago and he said that you were the first person to hit him up when when he hit the portal um what kind of qualities did you see in him and kind of how is he you've talked about his off the field leadership how's he kind of lived up to that now here in Fall Camp yeah he's long athletic good ball skills uh very smooth route Runner um he was a smart guy you saw a lot of different intangibles on the on the film and you know one of those guys is hard to find um and when we found him it was like is this too good to be true type deal um so uh once we got on the phone we talked a little bit and you know we started going throughout the process and it was been awesome for us and BG coming in here as a freshman and and impressing what does it take what have you seen from him to to get those results yeah for him is if you talk to BG or you kind of see him he works hard every day um and he cares about this sport um you know he was a track guy and now he's converted to football player um and he just wants to make sure that he can go ahead and prove to himself um and to us that he's that guy and he's been doing a great job of catching the ball and getting off press and being long and athletic and having you know really good vertical threat down the field we've seen link and Victor back and spending time around the team coach dickard told us that he is a future in coaching um what kind of impact have you seen him have just hanging around the team for a bit longer yeah Lincoln is the same guy when he was a player he was a captain for us last year um he's very vocal um you see him around the guys and give him um pointers that he has learned from me and you know other places he's been through um he's a guy that has a bright future whatever he does
