it's official Vio mom has gone viral that woman is everywhere she's now on Good Morning America so yeah uh Casey Neil went viral for explaining why she prefers to donate money to her kids activities over volunteering she doesn't want to do anything Hands-On but she will vow you money all day every day I don't know about anyone else out there but meet the teacher is super stressful I do not want to be involved at all I will make sure my kids do their homework get to school in time if I don't want to be on P PTA room mom Team Mom I don't want to do any of that and I start getting real stressed when they start asking for volunteers I know they're judging me because I'm not raising my hand but I don't want to come in I don't want to set up if the room mom needs money fine I'll themo money right over but I successfully avoided all of that today I even told one of the coaches that I am a Veno mom now I got I got a three-year-old he's in preschool we're not like in elementary middle or high school or anything like that um but we go through the Sign Up Genius and for parties and um for you know we just did the meet the teacher and see the classroom and stuff like that and while I think it takes all different types of moms and parents to make that work uh I don't feel like you can be completely hands off I think it's important that you meet your child's teacher and you know your child's teacher now when it comes to volunteering if that's not your jam whether you don't have the time you don't have the energy um you know you're a stay-at home mom and you got like five kids or you're a full-time work whatever your circumstances I can appreciate I can appreciate that listen I don't I can't volunteer but I can venmo that's absolutely fine as long as we know we all can't be venmo moms because then everything's going to fall apart which is BS so we should fund schools better and higher people to do this because I'm sending my school kid to school for an education not a fraking cupcake part it pisses me off to know what now I get it I'm a fun sucker and also to put it out there my kids in prek so I have been known to change my tune once I experience things as most people do so who knows in a couple years I may be like I'm absolutely wrong I want to support teachers I will buy all the supplies that you need I will venmo the money I am too busy to come up and set up for a cupcake party and I'm okay if my kid isn't is I'm not okay if my kid's left out okay if it doesn't happen at all and I'm it's great if it does happen and I'm so thankful for the room moms who step up to volunteer and I just I think if you love it that's an amazing thing to do and I did volunteer to be room mom this year I didn't get picked which is fine and thank God I didn't because I didn't really want to do it but I feel obligated and I want to be involved in my kids' education so I want to know the teachers I message them but not in an annoying amount and then also when my kid comes home I do projects with them we talk talk about school day we go over stuff that's my involvement as a parent I have a full-time job and I'm raising two kids on top of that I do not have time to also be super Hands-On in the classroom and I think I'm also speaking right now from a little place of anger because I feel judged right I feel judged that and it's a self-judgment that I'm not one of the moms who is super involved and I don't want to be and I don't like that taking that stance makes me feel like a bad mom and like I'm going to be judged by the other moms and like I'm not as involved in my kids life or that I don't care as much and it's just I'm drowning in everything else going on in life and this is all the drama in my life aside in a day-to-day and I just wish we could make room for the moms who genuinely are too busy like you said Kristen either they're working full-time or they stay-at-home moms because that is so much work as well this is a very sensitive topic can you tell I got like super triggered so I not at all I love venmo Mom 1,000% I am here to support from afar I and that's the thing when I want to say like I want to support VMO moms and I also want to support the active moms who are in the classrooms and setting up the parties and um you know being the room moms and organ organizing the signup genius for you know when you have secret reader Day come in and um yeah I I think there is it it takes it takes a village and it takes all types in order to make it a functioning classroom I agree but I do want to point something I did sign up to be a secret reader like I'm fine with the one-offs like that once in a while but when we talk venmo mom versus active mom then I'm like well I'm active in my venmo skills but I'm still active and involved with my kids education I just I do not have time to take on another job and that's what room mom is and teachers deserve support like don't get me wrong I'm not saying do away with the room mom y'all teachers work so hard I just wish schools were better funded I know that's Pine in the sky uh Essence thanks so much for joining the conversation um you are in total agreement with Cassie I am because I'm I'm a mom of seven first of all um I work full-time I'm starting a business I'm also married I have a householder one I have bills so I will send the check I will V more cash app however you want it and I have met all my children's teachers on the day that I can meet them after that the job is yours honey I do what I got to do at home you do what you got to do at school and that's fine I support you by communicating I'll do all that I answer every email every class SoJO but at the end of the day being there for every single event and doing all the set that's too much that's overwhelming and don't feel judged about not doing it you're a great thing great freaking mom your kids love you they they're they're good so keep it moving forget it isn't it nice to hear you're a great mom it is it's so nice to hear somebody else who gets it oh my God but I feel like I feel bad saying that for the teachers who do need that support and they do need the extra hands and the teachers are just trying to make the most wonderful experience for the kids possible with all these fun Valentine's Day parties it's just so much strain on the parents well here's the thing and I I enjoy signing up I I am one of those moms that enjoys going in and buying the you know for the Halloween party or the Valentine's Day party and so I think the goal here is for the the venmo moms not to look down on the volunteer moms and the volunteer moms not to look down on the venmo moms it's one of those deals where like I will venmo the I will venmo you to set up the Trunk or Treat at the school cuz I'm freaking dreading that I don't want to do that I I don't never lik diaramas I don't like decorating I will give you extra monies it's one of those where you look at a situation in MO it's like okay the venmo moms in order to feel better they want you to do less and then the volunteer moms are like in order for you know I need you I I expect you to do more it's managing these expectations of people and understanding that like your way of life is not everybody's way of life so to expect somebody to handle a situation the way you would is it's one it's not practical and it's and it's unfair it's unfair to expect somebody to want to be as active or if they can't not that they don't want to be but to be as active as you are in your you know in your child school activities it's okay to have different levels of involvement and as long as everybody understands that there should be no no judgment and no no hate preach can all moms just get along I just want to coexist can I just want the Veno moms and the volunteer moms to coexist do you think the room dads are having these conversations no the bird show
