and one that's thought to carry weight with young voters. Raj Jess. All right. Thank you very much, Audrey. As you might expect, the debate brought thousands of people together, even as they remain divided on which candidate came out on top in San Francisco, big crowds at watch parties organized by the Democratic and Republican parties. NBC Bay Area's Terry McSweeney got an earful from both sides. When we fight, we pay and we fight spirits and voices were high at the San Francisco Democratic Party headquarters on Market and Fifth streets tonight, Portola a standing room only crowd packed the former site of Nordstrom Rack, and with the people heard from vice President Harris seemed to fit. I just really like to hear what people want to do, okay. And I really think that Kamala Harris, they're really good job laying out what it is that she sees. Her vision is for this country. She offered hope, and that's what we need. We don't have a structured middle class right now and people need help. Now over in the Haight Ashbury tonight, an event very similar, but also really quite the opposite. A lot of cheering and enthusiasm. But that was for Donald Trump. The Republican sponsored party at the Mad Dog and the Fog Bar and Grill was much smaller in size. And that makes sense considering there are nine registered Democrats in San Francisco for every one Republican. We had a decline in registration for decades, many decades, six decades. But about five years ago, we stopped that. And we've actually grown 20% people here looking to the former president for change. It wouldn't be here if I didn't agree with the policies. I think we've seen the policies of the prior administration, and it hasn't exactly been the best. The candidates hoping to sway voters in the swing states, we asked NBC Bay Area political analyst Larry Gerston how he would score this 90 minute battle, and he used a boxing analogy. You had two different kinds of boxers. You had one who was a street fighter out there, and he was throwing everything he could, unusual things, different punches, hoping something's going to stick. And he had a professional boxer who was strategic and landed her punches, not nearly as many as he threw, but landed them much more successfully. This election could hinge on the winner of this debate because as of right now, there are no more debates scheduled in San Francisco, Terry McSweeney NBC, Bay Area News Now Election Day less than two months away.
