Hard to believe, but college football is right around the corner and fall camp is well underway for Idaho. The Vandals hit the gridiron for the first scrimmage of camp and Crete's Andrew Quinn was there and brings us more from Moscow. The first scrimmage of fall camp happened today here in Moscow and it was an early big play from the vandal defense that set the tone for the day that go East Valley High school alum diesel Wilkinson laid the boom as part of three straight three and outs out of the gate from the vandal defense coach Jackson and I were talking right before the scrimmage. She was just telling me to play like I played in high school play, fast play, fearless. And that's what I did saw the over out coming across and had to go make a play. He's a physical sucker man. It was good. It was really good coaching because it was in the strike zone. It was below the head. And, uh, that's the first thing I asked the ref right away because I know he got him pretty good. It was a, that was good, right. It was below the shoulder and all that. No good clean legal hit. The offense got things going when they switched over to red zone and two minute drill situations and they're on scholarship too. Um, they're gonna make plays. Uh, I love how he responded. It came out, uh, didn't really get down, just kind of flushed to move on to the next play and had a really nice drive with that two minute defense just had the energy defense just had the momentum. We had to flip it. We had a meeting today talking about mental strength, being able to go into the next play, next drive and eliminate what happened in the past. So that's all we needed to do. And that's what we did. Head coach Jason Eck is pleased with where his team is at early in fall camp. I thought it was a good guy. I thought it was a balanced scrimmage. I think there was positive on both sides and things we had to correct on both sides. But I think there's be a lot of good teaching off the tape and then a lot of stuff that, uh, is positive on both sides of the ball. The Vandals will scrimmage one more time next Saturday ahead of their season opener, August 31st on the road in Eugene against the college football playoff favorite, Oregon Ducks for now reporting at the Kibby Dome in Moscow, Andrew Quinn CRE two sports
