ners fans we've got breaking news that you will love to hear the Niners and wide receiver Brandon iuk have finally reached an agreement today on a 4-year $120 million extension that's per our Adam shefer shefter that will contractually tie him to San Francisco for the next five seasons we had shefy on the show just yesterday Kevin he was saying this is one of the most bizarre he's going to be traded he's not he's holding in he's holding out the Saga in to deal with we're following a developing story with the ners regarding their star left tackle trim Williams who's still holding out wanting a new deal as well as receiver Brandon auk's hold in iuk didn't practice today or yesterday practicing after being cleared medically by team doctors here's Adam shefer on iuk earlier today on the P he's a hold out then he's a hold in so how does this deal stack up well he now ties Tyreek Hill for the fifth highest average value on a wide receiver contract in NFL history all five of the largest deals have signed this offseason auk was the highest graded receiver in the league last season that's according to ESPN analytics they of course open up the season Monday night football against the Jets I think there's a we've got breaking news out of the NFL where Brandon auk's hold out in San Francisco has come to an end the 49ers and the all proo wide receiver have agreed to terms on a 4-year $120 million extension that's per multiple reports auk had requested a trade earlier in the off season when it looked like a deal wouldn't get done but the two sides were able to come to an agreement the all proo white out is now locked up in the Bay Area for the next 5 Seasons we look at the most games with 100 plus receiving yards in a season Jerry Rice Jerry Rice Brandon iuk with seven games in 2023 and of course Jerry Rice again here to help us break it all down from CVS sports.com Ryan Wilson Ryan it had to be me that broke the news first of all I am excited you saw it there four years $120 million want to get your thoughts on this deal in the impact for the 49ers who are a favorite to get back to the Super Bowl this year my first thought uh brand auk's getting that ktie MOX money so he he finally came to turns with the 49ers I thought you'd like that one but the thing that I keep coming back to Katie is what what took so long he got 30 million so he got less than Jeff Justin Jefferson to 35 and CD lamb at 34 and even AJ Brown he makes 32 million a year for the Eagles so 30 was the ballpark I think initially the 49ers that come in something uh south of that we'd heard reports a few weeks ago that the Patriots are willing to pay a little bit more than that maybe even up to 2 million uh I think we all understand why brauk decided not to go to the Patriots they have a huge issue with quarterback and offensive line but if the 30 million Mark was going to be the landing spot it's just curious that it took this long to get here you got the sense that that head coach uh Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch were frustrated down the stretch and you understand why um I would say this he is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL Katie but he's not the best player on this offense he may not even be the second or third best player on this offense which tell you tells you how get offense is uh but this unit certainly is going to benefit from having him out there because of all the things we've seen him do in recent years for the 49ers yeah you said it right there he's not the best player on this offense but probably one of the best players um at his position in the NFL he's been sitting out for a very long time and we've seen this with other players when they sit out this long it doesn't always lead to a breakout season so what are your expectations for iuk certainly the beginning part of the Season well it's good that he has a report with with Brock pie uh the quarterback uh who's going to get paid very soon as well but this feels a little bit differently than what we've heard Jamar Chase uh and Joe burough say in Cincinnati because Jamar Chase is having his own hold out they played together in college and Joe burough said in recent days that we only need a day or two to get on the same page it feels like it may take a little bit longer than that the Brandon Al yook just because of the lack of familiarity long term all that said when you have guys like Christian mcaffrey and Debo Samuel and George KD they drafted Ricky piol who's getting healthy there's not the urgency to get out there and catch 10 balls in in week one so you can ease him back in and that's one of the benefits of playing in this offense he's not the goto guy he's not even necessarily has to be wide receiver two or wide receiver three so I think that's the good news they can build game plans around Brandon iuk to get him uh comfortable and and let him get his toe in the pool slowly instead of just jumping into the deep end uh but I I think ideally and John Lynch and and kle Shan would tell you this they would just love to have had auk there for the last three or four weeks but here we are auk's finally paid he's probably happy about that and I would imagine Shanahan's happy to have his W wide receiver back as well yeah the 49ers took care of one thing with auk but there's still one more thing that they need to take care of and that's Trent Williams who reportedly is not playing around with his hold out so 49ers fans and myself will be holding our breath until then but we'll celebrate this win on this side Ryan Wilson thanks for joining us today and giving your Insight and here's another look at the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL you got Justin Jefferson and CD lamb AJ Brown and then the three at the bottom where Brandon auk is tied with Alan R st Brown Tyreek Hill and again the newest $30 million man Brandon auk All Pro now under contract for the next five seasons in San Francisco and for more let's welcome in CBS sports fantasy analyst Dave Richard Dave when you talk about the fantasy implications now that Brandon auk is signed with San Francisco what are the implications now that he is now on the roster officially it's all good news from here hakee and it's really all about one of the most if not the most efficient wide receiver in the National Football League back with one of the best offenses in the National Football League and let's be honest as soon as Trent Williams gets back with the 49ers and and hopefully that happens sooner than later we will see the 49ers at full strength and Brandon and I you could go back to being their number one wide receiver and you saw just how good he was last year he averaged 16 PPR points per game despite getting just 6.3 targets per game how in the world do you do that you ask well it's simple you've got to be top 10 among all qualifying wide receivers in catch rate yards per Target yards per catch yards per route run average depth of Target his average depth of Target was 14 yards that's ludicrous his route depth was almost 11 yards his explosive play rate was 35.2% let me tell tell you what that means it means that more than a third of his catches went for 16 or more yards last season this is one of the best route running slant type of wide receivers in the National Football League a big play waiting to happen and a guy who absolutely throttles man coverage there is no question in the world that he belongs as a round three pick now that he's back in the good graces of the 49ers I will give one word of caution week one he's playing against the Jets remember he didn't take part in training camp obviously didn't play in any preseason games he might need to knock the rust off a little bit before he gets going so that week one game that might be a Debo game and not an iuk game Dave you said third round that's where he went in my fantasy draft that is still going on currently we're in a marathon draft and look I get it third round is there any sort of piece of advice that you're giving people that maybe okay they see the news maybe they're going to try to you know look to get him in the second rounde is there any word of caution you have for Fantasy managers now that the news has broke so once upon a time this off season Brandon iuk was a second round pick for me and I really was hoping to say that he would get a bump in targets and and he would go and you know if if he's this good on six targets per game what could he be on seven and a half targets a game or eight targets a game and the reality of the situation is simply this the 49ers are not a team that wants to throw the football 40 times a game they are in the bottom three annually in dropbacks called per game that means that that uh that Brock P isn't throwing the football it means that there aren't going to be a lot of high volume games for Brandon iuk or dvo Samuel or George KD by the way iuk had more targets per game than KD in 2023 and they all kind of take away from each other a little bit and yet they still were able to average good fantasy numbers that's just how good this offense is in San Francisco I think round two is a reach I look at receivers like Malik neighbors and Mike Evans I'm taking them ahead of Brandon iuk at this point but I do think he is worthy of that round three range and you could call him a top 15 fantasy receiver Brandon iuk 49ers agree to a contract extension worth $120 million 30 million per year that's the breaking news out of the NFL Dave Richard with the fantasy implications here on CBS Sports HQ Dave thanks to talk about efficiency and production Brandon auk has done it seven 100 receiving yard games second 49 player to do so in franchise history the other the Hall of Famer Jerry Rice auk led the NFL in yards per reception 18.7 on passes thrown outside of the numbers they are looking for him Brock pie and then offense is looking for him often even with all the mouths to fill and to feed Brandon iuk getting paid a deal done in San Francisco coming up more reaction to Brandon auk's contract 30 million per year what does this mean for the 49ers offense now that he's back in the mix ready for week one next on CBS Sports HQ
