good games games good results by the way um you know I guess like even like every now and again like when I play golf with my grandfather he would say when I'd make a good shot even a blind squirrel finds a nut and I guess with scone going being the only person on the 1045 ESPN Baton Rouge staff to go five and0 in our picks yesterday our staff picks I guess that's just blind squirrel find in a nut only member of the staff to pick Notre Dame to beat Texas A&M Hester and I were the only ones that picked Miami over Florida you want to get a woop for getting that one right no that's not t anyway um good day for scone going to undefeated in our station picks by the way my uh column is up at louisian sports.net locked on LSU is live already so if you want to check that out you can we'll react to the day couple of little news notes tidbits uh Team landed in Vegas the LSU team of course landed in Vegas at 5:30 local time on Saturday uh so it's 7:30 central back in in Baton Rouge um I mean you just tell Brian Kelly was determined to to get this team as far away from Las Vegas as possible it keep them as far away from any type of distraction for as long as possible so they landed here 5:30 local time yesterday so they landed at 5:30 went to the hotel dinner tea meetings all that stuff um they got a lot of time to kill today uh because it's it's 8:00 am here um and the game's at 4:30 so you got you got eight and a half hours today so and there's nothing there's no games to watch in your room or anything like that so little bit of a challenge today to make sure you know the guys are not just totally cooped up but um also avoiding potential distractions in Vegas so and know Brian Kelly I'm you know what hang on let me see if they're going to go to a walk through at the stadium this morning um one second is the team doing a walkthrough at the stadium this morning question mark uh because Brian Kelly will do that on game days they'll go um [Laughter] ra [Music] stupid we was trying to connect with Ross and uh and a little later so so Ross was texted Ross Tex Ross D let me not lose lose side of my point um Kelly will have the team go to the stadium walk through jog loosen up a little bit then go back to the hotel then come back it's just a way of like breaking up the DAT you just sitting in a hotel room I'm certain they're probably going to do that today um I'm trying to see if I can get that answer the funny thing about Ross So Ross I didn't know this Ro delinger who were friends but um Deli was staying at he was in Atlanta yesterday for the Clemson Georgia game which I didn't know flew here last night to cover this game tomorrow which I didn't know so he texted me and T-Bob last night at uh 10:26 Vegas time he said I just ran into handy at Cosmopolitan where y'all and I was like I mean I replied to him at 104 he said bro how didn't you tell me you how how are you here you didn't tell me uh I was looking to go have a a whiskey at the ARA high limit lounge and I had no taker so now I'm going to bed um he replied he replied an hour later and said I landed at 9: didn't think I'd have the energy to go out after covering the Atlanta game and then flying but I made it out to play some Blackjack I like all right anyway so this morning T-Bob who T-Bob by the way apparently went to the pool at his hotel and then passed out at six o'clock no well he said I got Vegas and I was like I'm glad you by by getting Vegas that meant you went to bed early instead of like being faced down in the ditch you're on stuck on the roof at Caesars or something like that yeah should have come had he would have had fun um anyway so delinger was like I'm at the Marriott about a 25 minute walk from the bagio I said only a Luna took would walk for 25 minutes in the desert he said well I'm about to go for a run I said on a treadmill indoors and he said sure and he sent he sent me and tbab a shirtless picture of him running by the sphere so TB said thirst [Laughter] strap is he hot Ross yeah I I me he's a fit guy you'd have to tell him if he's hot okay uh let's say some good mornings y'all uh bam is burning good morning been waiting on this day all summer hopefully they don't disappoint us man I like the last four years in the opener Edwardo what up man good morning there we go nusb time Andy Whitaker so far 47 games have been won by 28 or more points we had 13 shutouts 39 teams have scored 45 points to FCS opponents go away yes Andy they should FCS in group of five it's I mean like you wait all year for the season to come and then you have a day like yesterday where there were some good games but I mean you look at Old Miss scoring 70 whatever against Ferman I mean Arkansas is poultry and they scored 70 against Arkansas Pine Bluff I'll reiterate it's the games nobody at all wants to see there's no point in playing these games give me a schedule full of power five opponents and you're going to have some some blowouts in those you're going to have myami running rough shot all over Florida by the way yesterday effectively confirmed it Billy napur an will be coaching Florida when LSU plays him in November he's gonna be gone already that was brutal I mean and by the way I had I had money on Miami in that game um Erica is SW singing Taylor Swift uh Christian B Matt game day did you reach your ranking goal for locked on thank you for asking um and yes I did so when I took over locked on when I took back over locked on I had two goals one was by the end of July which is my first full month I wanted to be in the top 10 of the college shows I was number three and then [Music] um by the time LSU kicked off again SC I wanted my average listenership to be back where it was when I left in 2022 and it is surpassed where I was in 2022 so um by about 30% as a matter of fact so I'm very very thrilled and grateful to everybody who is um subscribed to locked on who listens watches all that sort of stuff so yes yes I did as if was funny we were in a we were in a sports book at um at Park MGM and I tweeted this but the sports book cheered when Vandy won the way like a parent cheers when their kid goes PE PE on the potty for the first time it was like oh my goodness I'm so proud of you that's what it was like for Vandy poor Vandy but a great win for them good for them Randall gonna be a long year for sun Bel Billy and the and I missed his call so called him back and and we went up texting and he's like I can't find T-Bob I'm like oh god um apparently T-Bob was with some people had his phone in his fanny pack left his fanny pack and disappeared and so didn't have his phone and then nobody could find him um so we ended up they ended up not coming obviously we'll find out this morning that T-Bob fell asleep at six o'clock he went out to the pool apparently he said he got Vagas and then fell asleep so but I'm glad I'm glad he did that I would rather him fall asleep at six o'clock than him being doing I don't who knows what T-Bob could get into in Las Vegas and the time so weird Daniel um my HDMI ca's killing me I have a 48 inch curve screen monitor this SOB keeps losing signal based on a $15 cable oh that along has been if you take if you're going to put pimpon on the field who do you take off the field now maybe with no Chris Hilton um they'd be more likely to go to a two tight end set I told you all in one of the Red Zone uh possessions we got to see in Fall Camp they ran so like the offense had first and goal from the four for example and they ran a play where Mason Taylor lined up as the HB and looked like they were going to run power and pimpton was on the line on the right side so they did have two tight ends in they faked power nus rolled right pimpon just emptied into the front right pylon dumped it to him touchdown so I think they definitely have that play in The Playbook um I I don't know if there is a I mean we're in Vegas so we could do a player prop I mean pimpon to score a touchdown you probably have great odds and that's that's a a good sort of moonshot I would think so but the my real question about that is again if you're in the red zone and you want to put pimpton or tradez green on the field like who comes off the field that's that's the do you take CJ Daniels off the field do you take Kiren Lacy off the field do you take Mason Taylor off the field I and I don't think that that you're doing that I guess you could go empty so you take the back out off the field put in an extra tight end or receiver but that's the case and nus has to be your nus has to be LSU's defensive ends are good I think Savon Jones Braden Swinson DeShaun wac Paris Shand I think they got plenty there and I think the freshman clage Cobin and gabri ORD are talented guys that could find a way and pass R situations onto the field as fresh the interior the defensive line there's legitimate questions look I Jacobian Giller is your best guy and I hope he has a really good year um we'll see how Gio pz does again he's a guy that was a 34 end at Wisconsin now playing his more natural uh three technique on the inside and a 4-3 uh those those are your first two right uh Jaylen Lee this from a from a playoff perspective the um the Notre Dame win y'all that almost effectively locks up a playoff spot for Notre Dame like follow me here I know it's week one and you're going to say it's a gross overreaction but I want you to look at Notre Dame's schedule with me okay so at A&M by far is their most difficult game on their schedule they just wanted so now they go Northern Illinois at Purdue Miami of Ohio Louisville Stanford Georgia Tech all at home by the way Navy Florida State Virginia Army at USC I mean Notre Dame like I don't even know how this happened this way um but if I'm like Georgia Tech Navy and army are all at neutral sits so their only true Road games with the One They just won against A&M they go two Purdue in two weeks and then they finish the season at SC that's their only true Road games so I [Music] mean like remember for Notre Dame um they can't win their conference so they have to be in that large like Notre Dame could go 12-0 the best um the highest they could be seeded not ranked seed in the playoff would be fifth because the top four Siege of the top four conference champion so um so for Notre Dame they've got a like two lost Notre Dame would maybe put them in Jeopardy of a playoff but again they play Georgia Tech at Mercedes Benz Stadium they play Navy at MetLife Stadium they get Florida State at home Virginia at home they play army at Yankee Stadium and then they have to go to Southern Cal my point is yall like Notre Dame yesterday for all intents and purposes probably like locked up a playoff spot I hate to say it that way I mean that sounds so ridiculous after one week I mean and yes they could have an injury and the wheels could fall off but their defense is that good and where are they challenge like they're going to be favored in literally every game they play so even if they drop two somewhere along the way 10 and two probably gets Notre Dame in with the win at not with win at ATM talk about their off first they like I think we have to remember like Notre Dame defensively if you haven't paid attention like their defense is legit I mean they've got NFL players at every level of their defense that is a very very good defense that A&M struggled with yesterday now as good as that defense is Conor Wegman throwing for 100 yards 3.3 yards per per reception um no touchdowns two interceptions that that's atrocious like for for a home game and a guy that's a projected first round Talent that's atrocious now A&M goes to Florida you want to talk about two teams that could have their that that's a real you know swing game there A&M at Florida in two weeks will be fascinating they get baling green they play Arkansas at the neutral site they get Missouri at home which would be a tough game they go to Mississippi State they get LSU and Baton Rouge I'm sorry LSU in college station um the world correct Ronald all Miss schedule so week I agree uh it's one of the reasons that I have all Miss in the playoff um I have all Miss minimum 10 and two and I think they make the playoff as a result uh I think it's Georgia Texas ol Miss are my top three from the SEC and if they get another one in I think it comes down to um lsub Tennessee Missouri one of those based on tiebreakers however may go gets in Ryan Del and Cancun 3130 I'd take it GF South I read 11 SEC teams scored 50 points and five teams won by 60 it's again it's not just the SEC golf South like college football schedulers should be ashamed of what we saw this past weekend that is why that is why we need schedule form schedule uniformity so that way we can do away with these ridiculous games that nobody wants to see that are nothing but garbage Collective paycheck games I mean who wants to see that like Notre Dame and and you doing before the game probably meeting Russ at manderlay Bay before the game yeah so um that's where we plan to go um I got to be on with hany at 12:55 local time sets 2:55 Central but um so I'll be on so we'll be at mandala Bay probably around noon or a little after 12:30 maybe yeah any um any news on Chris Hilton so I did make a call yesterday um I was told on the like on the official Ledger that uh Hilton is doubtful so and I kind of heard that throughout the week that he kind of didn't progress as much as they at hoped um and that's a real bummer but anyway I did talk about this on 5:30 on Saturday 5:30 local time so Brian Kelly just very clearly trying to keep his team away from here for as long as possible so they landed at 5:30 they were supposed to be at Mandalay Bay they moved to Resort World which is farther down the strip The Mandalay Bay is like the epicenter there's the giant LSU tailgate party today at the House of Blues and inside Mandalay Bay that's the alumni deal it was told there's over 2,000 people and they it's it was a hard sellout like I try I tried to get in and and I have a great relationship with the Alumni Association they're like it is a hard sell it's not their rule it's it's the House of Blues like they have a capacity limit and they're like that that's it there there was no more um so Brian Kelly was like trying to get LSU the team far far away from that so um anyway talked about all this on on lonell ISU Chris Hilton I think is doubtful for today um what was the other the other tidbit I had um um waiting [Music] on don't have it yet um oh Russ Mitchell just texted me said talk about Bandy um man oh the other oh that was the other thing um I so this I I'm a little surprised because of how this played out throughout camp but I think this is the right decision so one of the things I was also told yesterday is um Josh Williams is going to start at running back but I think the plan is going to be to ride Caleb Jackson based on what kind of one of the conversations I had yesterday um I listen this has been a lot of you agree with this I know I think there's a lot of LSU F's very excited about Caleb Jackson because of his high ceiling and what we saw in short doses last year um but Josh Williams wear in the 18 he's been a guy that they've really leaned on so far in Fall Camp um and I I've been very very vocal that I think LSU is going to try to run the football I know Will Campbell said it but I've said it for a while like I think they are going to try to run the football shorten the clock you know shorten the game game Run the clock you know play keep away from that USC offense I just assumed because Brian Kelly's talked about it so much that Josh Williams is GNA be that guy conversation had yesterday Josh Williams Gonna Start I think kale Jackson is ultimately gonna be the guy that leads LSU in rush in rushing attempts today um so just something worth keeping an eye on this could be the opportunity for a little bit of a breakout on a big stage for Caleb Jackson um let's see Kyrie how many years till Notre Dame joins the conference the only way Kyrie I could ever see them joining a conference is if not being in a conference holds them out of a playoff opportunity but in an expanded 12 team playoff there's more of an opportunity now for them to make it so I think it's less likely now for them to join a conference that it would have been before uh tiger diver ready for whiskey and wine tonight looking forward to it as well hey Ashley Megan Good morning not D's biggest challenge will be Georgia Tech maybe we'll see what USC like by the end of the season but Georgia Tech's looking pretty good um yeah crazy not Dame's toughest game was against a mid SEC team stat dub fifth seed is the best seed you host that's true you do host but you have to play the extra game you don't get the buy I'd rather have a buy if you gave me the option would I rather play a home playoff game or have a buy I would I would take the buy 100 times out of a 100 make someone else go play an extra game so the disappointing thing guess is if you are one of those top four seeds because you won your league that means you're also playing in the conference Championship game so you're playing that extra game um anyway so but I would rather I would rather have to have somebody else go play a game while I have a buy it was great seeing A&M lose and lag and egg offensively after spending 78 million to fire their coach tiger diver what's going on cloud Zack Notre Dame is going to cost Coast into the playoffs leaving SEC team out then get crushed um I don't know that Notre Dame is going to get crushed Zach I mean Notre Dame's defense is legitimately good I I'm not saying that A&M's offense is any great shakes but one of like one of the things I've talked about with A&M and I believe is like you can't lose half your roster and assume you're not GNA Miss A Beat it's the same thing with Alabama um you can't lose Evan Stewart and you know three starters on your offensive line and just assume you're just going to going to roll like when you have that much turnover it's going it's going to be a challenge it's like we've talked about with LSU offensively I don't think anybody expects LSU's offense is going to be what it was a year ago realistically like we're all anticipating the offense taking a step back it's just a matter of okay if you're not going to be the number one offense or can you be top 10 top 15 like where do you fall right I mean that's that's a realistic approach uh Kirk if you got to schedule that off you shouldn't be in the playoff rules are rules man until there's uniformity it's just how it's going to go no Notre Dame does not have 10 home games but they have a bunch of neutral sight games like they play three neutral sight games and three true Road games like they're playing Georgia Tech in Atlanta but they're playing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium they're playing army at Yankee Stadium they're playing Navy at MetLife Stadium so some so not true Road games uh Mark is the whole point of a two-minute timeout warning to add more commercial time um no um I actually like it a lot um I mean the NFL quite honestly just has sequencing of a game down to a science um and I think the point of that obviously is to um inject more offense into the game in endgame scenarios and I like that especially with the new rules where you are running the clock now outside of two minutes after first downs and when a guy goes out of bounds like they college football has effectively adopted the NFL model and I think mostly what that's doing is affecting pace and tempo of the game almost like the pitch clock in baseball so I'm I'm very good with with the the new the new clock rules and the reason for years decades that college football stopped the clock after a first down and when you went out of out of bounds is because you had a very run Centric game where you had split back Veer and you had the wishbone you had the triple option and you needed to find a way to inject more offense into the game otherwise you just have a running clock the entire time so I liked that hang on one second okay sorry uh Ronnie thought you didn't bet on LSU Maybe I'm Wrong I never do um but I'm in Vegas so I'll probably throw a little bit on the under um I don't I usually don't bet LSU games like ever because I don't ever trust myself to be completely impartial but I do like the under in this game and I think there's there's great value on it so uh and I'm in Vegas I'll probably make it Bet On It Andrew Scott what's good uh Robert uh if nus can keep the interceptions to a minimum this year we're going to have a hell of a year um I think that's a giant key to the offense going David Pollock had a good point he said USC won't run much power so to the speed of LSU's DB and linebackers will compensate for a weak interior defensive line that is a good point um you know but you see a lot of you see a lot of Zone Concepts I mean I don't know that like Missouri last year I don't think they were running you know power with Cody Shader they ran a lot of Zone schemes I mean that's kind of what rushing offense is but I guess I do get it I mean if I'd almost prefer a team to line up with a fullback and try to run right at you at least Telegraph what you're doing um uh Drew Boogie are we getting whiskey and wine tonight um is a bear Catholic I want to use the other one but I can't on morning scone so you know the old saying like is the pope Catholic does a bear hoop in the woods so sometimes you mi like in a way of comedic timing you mix them to go like does the pope Po in the woods is a bear Catholic but yes of course we're doing whiskey and wine so T Bob with the fact that you were atrocious defensively um right as for the game tonight I'd be surprised if the defense came out to be dominant I don't think they're going to be dominant I I don't I don't think anybody thinks LSU's defense is going to be dominant I mean it's I think it's funny how there's just some there's some general anxiety today now that it's game day and it's here we've talked about it for so long but like let's not lose sight of the thing we've talked about now for months and months and months and months which is nobody's expecting Ellis's defense to to be dominant nobody's expecting LSU's defense to be great we're expecting or hoping LSU's defense to be improved and to be good enough to complement what should be a an above average offense so if your offense is top 20 top 15 in the country let's say your offense averages 35 38 a game great can your defense be top 60 if they can well then you're in a really good spot because then you're going to have a chance to beat anyone you play remember you lost three games a year ago and your defense in those three games allowed an average of 48 points per game so it's not about being the best defense ever the best defense in the country like for example here was your score here was your points per game last year LSU 45 a half Oregon 44.2 USC 41.8 Oklahoma 41.7 Georgia 40.1 Memphis 39.4 Notre Dame 39.2 SMU 38.7 Liberty 38.3 Kansas State 37 Texas State 36 Penn State 36 Washington 36 Michigan 35.8 Texas 35 will miss 35 right so like that's the range can can you be so I'm not saying score 48 a game can you score in that range 35 36 a game I mean I just told you Michigan Michigan and Texas that were both playoff teams and wa Washington Michigan Texas were all in order Washington 36 Michigan 35.9 Texas people you know um Can the defense not give up third and 20 that's like that's really where I am with this like I'm expecting points I've given my score I my final prediction is 3127 I like LSU in a game that's where both defenses probably you both offens try to shorten the game a bit because of what happened a year ago defensively D Lynn was at UCLA last year and his first year at UCLA lowered their points per game allowed defensively by a 100 yards per game I think you probably see something similar again I don't think either of these defenses are dominant I think both new quarterbacks you probably have some Growing Pains it's a tough draw I just think when you look at both these teams who are very similar the I always when I'm looking at a game that I think is pretty evenly matched I look at quarterback coach venue and in this instance venue is probably a push it's a neutral site there's a ton of LSU fans I think there's going to be a lot of SC fans arriving today quarterback is a total push these guys are mirror images coaching Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly are both great great coaches they've both been to the playoff um Kelly's been doing it obviously longer at more places and all that stuff um but Lincoln Riley is is a great offensive mind one of the best in college football so you so with all that being equal I just look and I say the single best unit on the field offense defense LSU USC anywhere the single best unit on the field is LSU's offensive line so if LSU tries to line up behind that line run the ball short in the game uh I think they should be I'm confident in their ability to be able to do that effectively so that's where I land on a close game I like it going to the under I've told you this all week I was waiting I was waiting for this game to get closer Sunday public bets the overs I think a lot of money is going to come in on the over the only game people are thinking bad defenses good offenses the total is up to 66 yesterday was 64 and a half I'm GNA wait I'm GNA wait and see if I can get it even higher than 66 um but I do like a play on uh on the under in this football game I think LSU wins a close one uh and a play to the under if the defense gives up one less Point than the offense course it's all good saw a lot of that last year Anon good morning love the new studio happy it's game day uh tell the family good I will Ohio State transfer only started one game um in his time at Ohio State but he's pretty athletic guy and he's the nickel so he wears number 17 so if they go to a fifth defensive back look I think Sage Ryan Ashton stamps are going to start at corner um Jordan Gilbert Jordan Allen probably gonna be your starting safeties um I think when you rotate Jordan Allen out Jackson is next up after Burns Toano and um 24 um Joan Johnson we see them at the star position but you know whenever you go nickel and dime I think you you're next up nickel has been JY Brown if you go dime to a six defensive back I think the next guy up there would be PJ Woodland so I I don't think you're going to see major Burns turning and running in coverage now if SC and Lincoln Riley can scheme that good on him but I also think playing that star position you're probably more likely to see major Burns guard cover a tight end or a back out of the back field and not try to run with a receiver which is a massive disadvantage that's why you kind of have this hybrid hybrid role hybrid position that Blake Baker uses uh Tracy LSU D just needs to not be horrible I mean yeah yeah uh that Brian the bar is the ground I mean it is it's you were the worst ever just be better uh tmbb the bus is shining and ready to roll uh Andy for 199 Misfits do some of the money go to the players um no and none of the players are mentioned in the shirts um so like we're very conscious and aware of that now I would gladly do an nil deal with any of the players like if they wanted to wear one of the shirs and that's why like nobody's names are used um there's no LSU marks anything like that but I would gladly do a deal with any of those guys like if Garrett nus wanted to wear nusb and post about it I'd gladly split uh is going to be dominant I agree uh Destin tiger is Sloan better than Den Brock I don't think you can say that man but but I want to say this too okay I think Joe Sloan is going to be fine I do like I did not have a lot of confidence and Jake pets in 2021 pets had never been a play caller he ozon the way that story went he effectively called Joe Brady and said who could run your offense and he said you got to hire Jake pets and so he hired Jake pets which was stupid it was just a bad decision um Jake pets was not in any way prepared for that role Sloan has been an offensive coordinator he has been a primary play caller I think he is one of those really bright young offensive Minds that is an us sending coach I think Joe Sloan is going to do great and then ultimately he's going to get a head coaching opportunity like you see a lot of young coordinators that do well they parlay that into a a head coaching job we just haven't seen around here in a while because you had Steve eninger who was not interested in trying to become a head coach and you had Mike Den Brock and I GNA say Den Brock wouldn't be a head coach if the right opportunity came but he's at the point in his career where go be a go be the highest paid coordinator in the country you know anyway Dan Brock was fantastic said this all last year um everywhere he's been he's a proven play uh play caller um I was a big am a big big Mike Den brck fan um I'm talking about as a coach okay um anyway so two like they're not mutually exclusive Den Brock can be awesome and Joe lone can can still lead this offense and be a very good play caller coordinator and I think he will be so if you asked me who would I rather well of course I'd rather the more proven commodity um but that doesn't mean Sloan can't be great and I think he will be like I think Joe Sloan will be LSU's coordinator for two or three seasons they'll run really good offenses he'll become a higher profile name people will know his name and then he'll be sought after for head coaching jobs I think that's what's more that's that's the path that happened ultimately with Dave Randa we just haven't seen it a lot here lately with more established coordinators that weren't necessarily looking to jump um on college football final Dan Mullen looks giddy about the outcome of the Florida game oh jeez oh nice speaking of Catholic Barry Remo scored a one of those guys that if he were just if he were 2 in taller and 15 lbs heavier he's an SEC back all day every day but a lot of teams just looked at his size and went no so he's going so he's at he was five of eight from 30 to 39 and he missed one inside of 30 as well so it's it's interesting that when he attempted the longer kicks he made him he his misses came inside of 40 so um file that away do hay faucet still live in Louisiana I think so but I can check check on Hayes um for those who know Hayes is the guy that does all the graphics for all the commits chance yesterday there were so extremely L upside scores do you think teams are doing that to position for the playoff no remember a lot of those games chance were already scheduled before we knew there was going to be an expanded playoff this is just what's happened like this is how people schedule they don't schedule Marquee games to begin the season it's why LSU and SC and Notre Dame and Texas S&M these are outliers Miami Florida because you know you're we're just not going to see a dramatic Improvement until there is uniformity in scheduling which I hope comes where everybody agrees to do the same thing um you know but I just I think we start to see that change whenever we go to a uniform schedule model with the power leagues and I think that only happens when you see a collective agreement among the power like a bad decision on his part look I mean it really depends on what inspired the decision you know um because let's be honest if he were still at LSU he'd still be sitting behind nus meire um or maybe if he were still at LSU nmar would have transferred but I don't think they first of all when he left two years ago I don't think they anticipated Jackson Dart staying because nobody thought Jackson Dart was going to win that job they thought Spencer standers was going to win the job from mum estate last year and dart would transfer well Dart won the job and so he had Dart Sanders then curious because 3127 um because the last two years the reason I asked yall to do that is the last two years um Andy said this is very bias yes of course it is but that but I don't care that's fine it helps me gauge where expectation is um in the last two years when I did this there was a very it like not only where where LSU fans picking LSU but they were but last year LSU fans were picking LSU to win it to win big there was just not a lot of respect for Florida State and Florida State ended up being a really good team and and I last year I can't remember what my score was for last year's game I can look it up I'm not hiding from it I just genuinely don't remember what I picked I picked elu to win but um I believed I picked elu to win the national championship last year I thought they would make it was kind of like that fouryear cycle thing we've seen every four years at LSU and I I firmly believe the offense was going to be awesome and I thought just about how what I've thought about murger second year as a starter burrow second year as a starter you saw this Ascent I thought that would happen for Jaden I didn't think he'd have statistically one of the greatest seasons ever but I thought the offense would be awesome I never dreamed the defense would be as bad as they were so that's where I missed but last year the the Florida state scores that people picked were so one-sided for for LSU um and um yeah I mean Ralph Ralph said Homer Matt I don't Ralph I don't that anybody would ever call me a homer I mean it's I don't know that that's really where I've kind of like carved out my Niche like as being the LSU Homer um and it's easy to look back in hindsight now knowing what we know about the defense but coming off of 2022 where you hit on all those guys in the portal and you're thinking okay well you're even more talented now another year of matad house I mean 2022 defensively was solid they weren't great but they were they were solid um and remember you getting Mason Smith back and maai wingo was back and then you had remember there was a lot of Reason to Believe last year as far as the narrative and the talking points and clearly the the defense just unraveled so um I'll be curious that thank you for all that I was curious to see where many of you were were falling so most of it double digit win LSU wins but there was a little bit of a variety there um that's look that's my point Andy that was so Andy said look 2023 could have won the National Championship with the 2022 defense exactly if if they would have just been on par in 23 defensively with what they were at 22 they would have gone to the playoff um so we've talked about it a ton now we get to find out um that's true Austin if anything that's an anti Homer who battles overly confident LSU fans I do and a lot of people don't like me for that um yeah but Ralph that wasn't the case last year I will Tommy thank you man there wasn't the talent like remember you had her again you it's easy to say in hindsight but going into last year we're thinking man you got Harold Perkins back you're getting Mason Smith off of injury remember Mason Smith going into 2022 we were all high on what he was going to be he got injured in the first defensive series you had Makai Wingo coming back you saw Jacobi and Giller like we felt like hey look they were good in the secondary that first year with all those transfers but they AB actually upgraded Talent Denver Harris was a five star du Chestnut was all ACC remember like this is what we were talking about last year so it's so easy to say with the benefit of hindsight like oh you're Homer you they were terrible the talent drop off none of us were talking about Talent drop last year we were pumped for Mason Smith we were pumped for Harold Perkins Year too we were pped M maai Wingo was back you know um oh wait here we go okay the team is not going to the stadium before the game they're going to do their walkthr at the hotel I just got that confirm
