Homebase had announced that it was set to shut sports stars across the UK back in February and now York's branch is the latest retailer to close its doors in a statement a home-based spokesperson said we can confirm that our star and Foss Ireland's retail park of York is set to close our priority now is to continue supporting team members but how are the people of York taking the news for this particular development they need a star like home base for the people of York it really is a disappointment it's very handy and very disappointed well it's useful to have a good choice of shops in the city particularly ones like this near the city centre then yeah I can just pop out very easily so it's a shame to see to see lots of empty shops around I think it's inevitable because they don't seem too that busy over a week and the stock and what a waste we're basically going in because there's a sale on I'm gonna be moving into a new house soon so it's like right let's go see if we get any bargains so yeah York needs plenty of variety of retail stores you know to attract people tourists and obviously for locals you know this shops closing down all the time which is obviously not good for the economy I've got the Internet as well I think that's the secret is people can buy stuff and get it delivered home especially people or getting on within a few years like myself but I like on base home base told us that the store is set to close on the 4th of July Rebecca kowambe that's TV
