Germany's decision to reintroduce controls at all its land borders for the next 6 months has not gone down well with those who often cross those borders like the inhabitants of oen capital of the Germans speaking Belgian East a few kilometers from the border many go shopping in Germany because the shops are cheaper and bigger [Music] the truck drivers who pass through the Border however seem resigned to losing a few more minutes most are already used to controls at other borders which have been in place for several months now especially those driving between Eastern European countries or from the United Kingdom and are now after brexit often forced to show their cargo since brexit we've found with the Germans that they've been pretty good uh sometimes less than 15 minutes you can hand your paperwork in and be on your way again uh and that crosses many of the German borders uh from this side Holland and uh Belgium the different ones so around about 15 minutes usually the Border checks make a special impression on people who lived in the era before the Shang an area and remember the long procedures at European borders then like this flamish lady traveling to visit some German cities with her daughter when I was studying we went to visit uh Berlin and there we saw the division between the two parts of the town and uh now when I heard the news I thought they are not going to return to that time because uh that was very um I found that very impressive missing and then we had to go off from the bus and they controlled all passports and they controlled the bus and they controlled our luggage it was um years uh 80 1980 when we when I was there and now I thought are they going to return to that time no in 20124 Alone 10 countries in the shenen area introduced controls at some of their borders citing the fight against terrorism or controlling irregular immigration as their reasons [Music]
