NYC students paint park benches with uplifting messages

>> They had a nice splash of color and, you know, some of that playfulness that comes from children's art as part of the Shawn Stroll through Prospect Park on a sunny Monday morning. The colorful benches behind him caught his eye. The Hawaii resident visiting his sister in Brooklyn couldn't help but notice the vibrant murals painted on the benches by local students can sort of see >> Protect our generation and some of ideas that are coming from the youth. And it's nice to have a bit of a billboard for them. And then they put into words images. The murals are part of a citywide program promoting social change to the artistic expression created by students under the guidance of teaching artist Molly Roth from C E I arts education. We did a lot of sketches and they decided their topics and then came up with the idea of mental health. Roth says about 30 students from William McKinley School in Brooklyn participated in painting the murals, their design concepts focused on teams like rising up like a flower, the impact of nature on mental health and nurturing the future. And they also chose another all the powers of all the tomorrows are in the season today, which gives them the idea of wanting to protect things for the future generations. In total, 30 bench murals by students from schools like Ps 96 Alina Classical Charter School and Academy of Arts and Letters will be displayed across all 5 boroughs through September. The prospect Park pieces join benches already installed in the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan.
