[Music] impact of influence influence inflence covering True Crime throughout the [Music] southeast hello friend thank you for being here so grateful that you continue to spend time with us I am Matt Harris Satan Tucker's here and you can find us uh impact of influence on Facebook the YouTube channel impact of influence is starting up and best way and easiest way to get to the YouTube channel is to go through the Facebook page impact of influence and moch continues we had Valerie barline on last week uh this week the book's called jur 785 because enough is enough I tell a book on how juror 785 was wrongly kicked off the jury at the elic Murdoch trial Myra Katherine Crosby and crime in Cask people behind the book and jur 785 and see we've been saying what you want us to refer to you as because you've had multiple names um but the name is out of the bag now so we should call you Myra or Myra Katherine Myra's fine is it uh do people still say hi egg Jer well nobody that I know calls me to egg Jer people all over the Internet they're they're quite um they're quite good at calling me egg J me I we've been called a lot worse trust us um so that might be flattering compared compared to some things people say about us so the book is out why did you decide to write the book why now I just got fed up with the untruths that had been told and the lies that were spread about me I just got you know you get to a point where you want the truth to come out and I feel like the courts could have done a lot more to get truth out and they didn't well because I know you're represented by Joe Mulla we've had him on our show a couple more than a couple of times we've had him on a lot he's one of my favorite guests and you know shortly after um was it during the hearing he sent something out to the Press saying hey don't contact her she wants to remain anonymous and uh I don't know if any of this had to do with kind of some doxing that happened to you early on where some personal information was released by a member of the media uh can you tell us a little bit about that about that well the information where I was docked it it's not hard to find a monkey Farm okay especially in South Carolina I mean not many people you know but I had media come to my job I've had people ride by my house and it it got to the point you know I just wanted to be left alone and at some point I thought that was going to happen but no people wanted to continually talk and they were spreading mistruths and lies and I just got fed up I've always said from day one and Jo mlla can tell you it it's not up for me to say whether Alex Murdoch is guilty or innocent all I've ever wanted was a fair trial and I didn't believe that he got one the doxing started right out of the get-go once the juror's uh information was released the podcast put it up there and put like you mentioned the monkey from that's that's a place of business and that's where you work so narrowed it down were people bothering you out of right from Jump Street right from the beginning or did it start later um I I couldn't it had to been later I mean we heard Whispers of stuff that was going on you'll have to excuse me one second my phone is about to die and I don't want to lose that's okay I've been there I actually blame my kids for stealing my charger okay it's charging okay sorry about that but oh no worries uh there was Whispers around the court that we were docks and at the time I I didn't know what docon meant and I didn't either I never knew what it meant before this whole process I didn't know what it meant and I was like what does docs mean and I mean there were Whispers going around but it just got to be worse and worse with the stories and I just kind of got fed up and the part that got me is you know it right out of the B like you said we were docks the entire jury but that was a violation of the judge's order so why wasn't anybody held accountable so let's get to the trial okay as it as it begins you gather um as I recall you guys as the jury wanted to pick a certain person for a foreman and then the judge said you we should have this person is that right is that I Mike recalling that right well not exactly the first day after we were picked we were all taken back and then there were two different jury rooms but we all assembled in to the larger one and Rebecca Hill came in and told us that we needed to select a jury for person and we did did we did and we were all very happy with our four person thought he was a great person was doing a great job and then and then he was not our for person and the judge selected a for person and this is going to be important coming up because this four person is appears to be good friends with Becky Hill correct from what I understand correct so there was no other indication of why uh the judge would select someone different than what the other jurors had selected well we were a little bit confused because when the judge called us up there and we were all selected he said that he would choose a forers so we thought that he was going to choose a forers but when we went back to the Jury Room that first morning Becky Hill told us that you know y need to person so we were completely just thrown off if you will one of the things that you it's just like a brief mention in the book but I found troubling or interesting is that the sled agent I think it was rolski you say was following you during the trial or the beginning of the trial during the trial why why why do you think so and and where other jurors follow do you think I don't know if other jurors were followed or not I I know that my husband and myself were at a store and when I turned around unless he just happened to be there at the same time which I find really rare but he was there and then on our way to jury to court one morning we had a very suspicious vehicle following us and when we turned into where we all parked at the truck turned into a driver way not far from us and an officer got out H that had to be pretty creepy that I mean let's talk about some of the the uh testimony uh SE yeah so one of the uh reading your book uh one of the uh W or the the people who gave testimony was Roger Dale Davis can you tell us about your biggest takeaway from his testimony and well let's just refresh he was the caretaker of the dogs he was the one that had to put Mr Murdoch's dog down that really that really stood out to me that and I understand I have hunting dogs you know my well I should say my husband has hunting dogs but they're mine too so I understand you know sometimes they get sick sometimes you have to put them down so they're not in pain but they said he said that Alex couldn't put the dog down he had to come do it that stuck out with me very hard because how do you murder your wife and your child but you couldn't even put a dog down you know that did I said it at the time too that I was surprised the defense didn't Hammer that because they never really brought it up again um and he and did he say on the stand I think he did that he didn't think that El Mar did like I think he said he couldn't see him like I said I think it was more like I couldn't imagine it or something like that right because he couldn't put his own dog down yeah yeah um the other person that testified that you had thoughts on was uh Nathan Tuton who was Paul's good friend what was your why was he highlight uh in your book he he was fidgety he you know they said follow the evidence listen carefully to each person that was testifying I watched all the I don't know the people that came up there to testify and he he was fidgety he never kept a straight face and he kept look trying to look at Alex during the time like he was trying to it was almost like he was scripted he looked really angry that was my I was there for that day and he just looked so angry on the stand what refresh people mind what was his main the point of him being on there was he the talking about the guns the dogs he was talking about the guns I believe that's right that's right that's right as to why there was when and how they disappeared did did Paul get a new one that sort of thing and also he was asked the oh go ahead now you're about to say something what you yeah I was about to say apparently you know listening to a lot of their testimony Paul was not very gun Savvy he left them laying around and apparently several have been lost misplaced yeah I don't I guess he didn't keep up with them I don't I didn't get that so more and more things are happening in the trial and it it's about to become time for Alec to take the stand now I I know we we'll get into specifically B don't get fooled and all that sort of thing but I'm interested was was Becky Hill talking to you guys about the trial and what you were thinking already or this start to occur once Alec hit this was about to hit the stand well she called me into a private office to question me and it was more than questioning me about a Facebook post it was more or less my opinion I don't know what she asked other people this this before Alec though was this before he testified I don't even I it was close it was close about that time right had it had to been close so the whole Facebook post thing and I'll try to get your head around to here a little bit everyone that if you heard us talking about it for one thing judge Newman said the Facebook post the fake Fakebook post or whatever happened there he said had nothing to do with you being taken off the uh uh the jury he also said I should point out judge Newman when he let you go he said you've done nothing wrong you're an outstanding juror this is not your fault you've been doing your your civic duty was nothing but praise he's I think he used the word exemplary right he said you were I don't remember what he I don't remember exact words what he said I remember he said that um it he believed that I had been talking to three people or he had had word of that but it was waffled information and I was totally just a taken back didn't know what he was talking about but in the same sense he told me that um by all means I was a great juror I paid attention or something to that effect and I just I think I was just dumbfounded we said that remember I remember so I was there the day that you were dismissed and I just remember feeling so awful for you to be brought out in front of everyone on the stand and how um humiliating and probably embarrassing I mean you're just a member of the general public you're not a public figure who was brought out there in front of everyone like what were your emotions when you were up there what were were you able to think clearly I don't think I was thinking at all I had just hung up with Becky on the phone and like it was like 10 minutes later is when the judge called me and it dismissed me what was Becky saying in that conversation for one she told me that the murdocks had got to my ex-husband and then she questioned me about did I think Alex was guilty or did I think he you know was I thinking he was innocent and I told her the day of that day or that day that I was still undecided I told her Point Blank that you know kraton's closing was good but I wanted to hear the rest of it and she saidwell what makes you think he's guilty and I told her I said 'well he was there around the time of the murders because of the Snapchat video and she said well what makes you think he's not guilty and I told her I said well there's no murder weapon and she told me to put the guns out of my head they would never be seen again wow and then she asked me how the rest of the jury was thinking and I told her I couldn't answer that I didn't know how they were thinking and that's when she said well if the four person would just go in there and take account this would be over and done with in no time and 10 minutes later you're let go 10 minutes later I was dismissed okay I want to rewind just a bit about the Facebook post or whatever what world word of walboro Becky Hill Word of Mouth yeah yeah um Becky Hill claims to have seen a post by your ex-husband which we now know there's no Pro never happened your hex husband says it didn't happen and and Becky can't prove it ever happened we're we're this she claims your ex-husband was on there saying that you were talking about it and You' made up your mind and blah blah blah apparently I was getting drunk with him and talking about my opinion on the trial according to her and you haven't been drunk with him at least in 10 years but maybe more not more than that but yeah no I haven't even I haven't seen him we have a child together I try and keep a civil you know conversation if I need to but you know we don't see each other there's a reason we don't see each other and you know when she had told me about this original Facebook post it freaked me out when we went back into that jury room or into the courtroom all I did was scan the audience I was trying having a hard time trying to even pay attention to the testimony because I was scanning the um audience trying to see if he was in there because he he's you've had uh restraining orders against him so now you suddenly have this thing like he's getting involved in your life again so that freaks you out but there's never been any any documentation or any proof of any kind your ex-husband says it didn't happen that it ever that the Facebook thing happened I want to ask you this so do you think that this this Facebook post do you feel like someone was actually actively searching to find a reason to dismiss you I believe they were somebody was because what what tell us what happened next like so there was this Facebook paste then what happens next well after that is when the um Anonymous email came in that didn't have anybody's name in it or anything else but according to Becky she just put two and two together well she knew I had an ex-husband and she knew I had a rental property and that I worked at a monkey Farm to my knowledge I don't know if that was in the email you know I've never I I don't know what was in there but this happens next I just I couldn't wrap my head around it it's like okay the the fake Facebook post didn't work we've got to come up with something else I never even knew there was an apology post until her book came out and then I actually saw the apology post when the defense showed up and I was like well who is that and they said well that's your ex-husband and I'm like no I don't know who the hell that is but it's not my ex-husband I think I'd know who I was married to the apology poster referring to is some post that was on Facebook from some guy with a similar name or something who said like the devil made him do it or something the same name but didn't live in the same town I think lived in Georgia Georgia right yeah somewhere in Georgia but the the ironic thing is is the fake apology post was dated before Becky said she saw the original pose so how could he yeah I mean everybody was just so out to make me this liar who ran her mouth and did this and did that well the Facebook post was the first failed attempt and then they had the email and then speaking with my tenants and just it just kept going and going and going until they finally got what they wanted and I was dismissed okay so let's go over the email so first there was this fake fake Facebook post which did nothing ever came of it because it wasn't your ex-husband so then there was an email an anonymous email sent by I guess oh worker at um at was it Domin was it Domino or pizza Domin and her name is Christine Avery and she she alleges in this email that you were talking outside of the courthouse about the trial that's what she alleges well she apparently from what I understand y sorry my phone again but apparently she was was a co-worker of one of my tenants is from what I was told and she said that I I gave I was told my tenants that I was on the jury and that I had been talking about the trial that's what I was told and your tenants were we we talked about this when it happened how long they were waking up at some really weird hour at night yeah 9 or 10 o'clock at night they weren't too happy and then they were drag down to the courthouse for they told her to the courthouse at 9:00 a.m. and then sat in the room until 6:00 p.m. um and they had had interviews with sled I guess the evening before um and they said sign these statements um this is what you told us the night before so they were so tired they just signed the statements and did not read the statements is that accurate that's exactly what they told me well I don't think it was just I think they were told you know this is what you said on the video we need you to sign this and I think they so aggravated after sitting there all day and I think they just signed them and left and they even told me that they were supposed to get a copy of what they signed and they never even got a copy of what they signed and they denied that there was any real conversation about it other than you were on the jury that's about it that's correct do we know if there's any videotape of this uh conversation that these tenants had with sled I was told that there video I don't I've not seen the video I can't I I don't know one of the things um and I'm forgetting exactly when she said I think it was when you talked about Becky said that maybe Murdoch got to your ex-husband and then she said according to you she said um I've been harassed by the murdocks too am I am I getting that right no I don't I don't remember remember her saying that I don't remember her saying that on the phone I I actually when I came home that day the first thing I did is I called my best friend who happens to work for an attorney and a judge and I let her know what happened and she told me that the best thing that I could do is write it down while it's fresh in my head exactly what happened and I still have that statement written down in in my phone from everything that was said that day um on February oh go ahead I'm sorry february3 I'm sorry on February 23rd uh you talk about this the day Mr M take the stand I was lined up in the hallway with the other jurors preparing to go into the courtroom Mrs Becky came into the hallway and greeted us she then exclaimed today is going to be epic Alec is going to take the stand we're going to hear a lot of things but don't be fooled by the fense pay play close attention to Alex's body language and watch him closely and then talked about how we're all going to be famous after this trial oh yeah that seem to be a running theme where she was talking about being famous oh yeah I don't know who she thought was going to be famous maybe herself but it there were several jurors that made comments that oh they were going to go on the Oprah and that they were doing this and I mean if you didn't hear her make these comments then why would you respond to them okay I want to talk about the smoke breaks yeah because you know you have been accused of talking uh about this case you know every every day we all heard it multiple times a day judge Newman said do not discuss the case he told y'all every time you left and ENT you know left the courtroom um on the smoke breaks did you hear conversations between jurors talking about the case I I'm not g to say which specific jurs but during smoke breaks and it was I guess it was during the financials when kraton was bringing up all the different cases about the money and how much Alex stole people made comments about oh he's guilty he's guilty from hearing the financials so did you feel like the financials in in your opinion was a big turning point for the jars like after hearing the the all the Despicable things that he did and stealing from lots of different people do you feel like or or or not feel like that had a huge impact on some of the jurors so uh one of the see where do I want to go that because there's so many amazing things you you write about in here um so one point the court says so has she clerk Hill discussed the case with any any of the jurors has the clerk discussed anything about the case with anyone on that jury and you said the question kind of was a little tricky to unravel it kind of was because in my mind you know I'm in here you're questioning me about a Facebook post and you're asking me has the clerk you know questioned anybody else well to my knowledge I never saw her come or had saw the bayith come in and get anybody else and take them out her the clerk the question I only know she did it with me so I wasn't thinking as a jury in whole I was thinking about well I never saw her take anybody else out the jury room right so that you're reing to specifically that as opposed to if they have you seen clerk Hill openly discussed the case with you and other jurors you would have said yes I've seen that yeah okay but to say have you seen her discussing the case with the jurors I'm thinking no she never came and got anybody else she came and got me um you at one point said that and I don't know when this happened three originally voted not guilty when was that vote taken I guess that was their first um that was their first I don't know I guess when you they went in the The Liberation room they did a a pre- count and then I guess they you weren't in there then were you in there I was not or someone told you this correct oh okay I believe it was to not guilty and one not sure but then they wrapped it up so quickly correct you have thoughts on why why that do you think I mean it doesn't matter if someone's bully doesn't hold up in court but well I mean there was also the whole thing that like what we've heard there's been it's been in court documents about being denied smoke breaks I've heard that or you know maybe having to spend the night do you do you feel like that impacted or made this quick decision happened I can't say what happened I wasn't in that room with them deliberating I mean I've heard from a couple of different jurors how it happened but I wasn't there and I don't want to make a speculation on what was said or what wasn't said now just to rewind just for a second uh Alec Murdoch on the stand um I believe you uh were were buying into his his tears where some others were thinking it was a show right and then you also had someone next to you either the first foreman gave the kleenexes right tell tell me a little bit about that well he was on the stand and he was visibly upset you know I mean you see tears whether they were fake or not you know I can't answer that I can only tell you what I saw and the previous Flo person looked at me and he's like can I slide the tissues and he slid the tissues down to the end of the I guess the little banister that was in front of us and Alec up and got the tissues um and what was and after that happened there was kind of a there was a big blow up from the new for person telling us that we needed to quit buying into that because he was crying on demand and that there was a circle and we needed to pay attention to the circle if he's the only one in it then and one or two of the jurors got up wed out the room when she said that and he was really upset like he had the previous four person was really upset like he had done something wrong I mean it's kind of hard seem to me that you're talking about I'm sorry it would seem to me that that would fall under you're talking about what's going on and you're not supposed to be doing that till deliberations correct correct that's people got up walk out did you find his testimony believable because that seemed to be a turning point in a lot of people's uh opinion public opinion that uh he didn't come across well on the stand and the you know by just the court of public opinion what was your thought on that I kind of believe the emotion that he had I I believe some of his testimony all of it I can't say I believe but some of his testimony like when she said he was crying on demand I I get that when the defense was questioning him he was crying because they were showing him pictures of his family do I think that was real you're absolutely right I do believe that was real did he not cry when the prosecution questioned him no because they're talking about financial so I mean some of his testimony I did believe some of it I wasn't quite sure about and you saw the pictures that we did not as the general public see um and one thing I think you said in your book is you can't unsee those you wish you could um how how did you and the other jurors react to that um a couple of jurors physically got sick seeing them I still have nightmares I can close my eyes and draw those pictures I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy um you this is taking a toll on you and as you say you have uh one of the reasons you've written the book is because of the toll it's taken and you couldn't it wasn't just disappearing it wasn't going away uh you've even said uh you're still trying to get back to normal I think you said that in in the book you like cut your hair maybe did some things like that I did I cut my hair I you know I don't go I I live in Colon County I try not to go out if me and my husband go somewhere it's usually out of the county if there's we got to have groceries he'll do the grocery shopping I I try to stay out of town because it is such a small town and you know if you go to town nine times out of 10 you're going to see somebody that either was at the cord house or they know you were on the jury I mean I tried to change my looks I tried to change everything and every day it seemed like on social media there was somebody talking about eger and eger this and you know I mean it just got to be redundant and I have never felt like I couldn't go out of my own house and I felt that so this is how to Big this is how to big impact of your life and nothing that you willingly signed up for did not won't never do it again I can promise you it is it is super sad that people have taken it out on you and I think one of the big takeaways yeah you might have felt that ell may not have the burden of proof might not have been met but it appears to me that your main thing that you're trying to get across is that there was jury tampering regardless of OT guilt or innocence you have you 100% believe and and you believe others in the jury know there was tampering yes I do I've said from day one and if you've had Joe MCA on and he he can tell you all I have ever said is I believe that Alex should have a fair trial I think everybody should have a fair trial I don't care if you're the worst human in the world that sixth amendment guarantees you a right to a fair child and if you've got a member of the court trying to poison you even if another jury member says oh well it didn't phase my verdict how do you know I'm not a professional jur if I had been in there and you know in a delivery room that probably would have been one of the things I brought up well Miss Becky said so I mean you might not even know that it affected your verdict oh sure sure well and also I think it's important to for me I think about okay ell Murdoch famous you know money dude uh I think okay this guy has brought this to everybody's attention he is not getting a full investigation imagine if you're a poor person or you are you know Indigent or there's no way they're going to investigate that if they're not going to investigate Alec Murdoch which I don't believe that they've investigated to the fullest what I find also interesting is that when they had the evidentiary hearing to delve into these jury tampering issues issues in Columbia you you drove up to Columbia you were going to possibly you know testify if you could now they didn't allow you to testify because they said you w weren't a sitting juror but what I also found interesting is they did allow the alternate to testify and I I didn't understand why have you're G investigate investigate right like because you probably were privy to conversate you were you were on that jury for almost weeks right I was there to the day of deliberations the day they found him guilty was the same day they sent me home wow well I think it is wait before before you before we let her go I do want to ask one question because you've already you've said you worked at the monkey farm and I I think judge Newman said well I bet you're not excited to get back there and you're like no I love those monkeys so I just want hear you like tell us about that a little bit well it it's people people have mixed reactions it's it's a monkey Farm but it's a research laboratory where they do different tests trying to come up with cures for such as you know Alzheimer's cancer different sicknesses and you know some people have they oh you treat the monkeys badly them them monkeys are treated so good and love so much I mean you're it's it's it's research and I just I love to watch the monkeys you love the monkeys they I mean they're they're kind of like humans I mean they have the same reactions you know I mean I can't explain it I just I enjoy watching them um she is jur 785 because enough is enough but tell all book on how jur 75 was wrong kicked off the jury at the El trial my kathern Crosby and criman C the book is it come out tomorrow or what I shouldn't say tomorrow you can find it on Amazon is that correct from what I was told it' be on Amazon I guess it was um supposed to come out this morning but there's some kind of glitch with Amazon and they're just waiting for an email to say that it has met all their KDP publication I'm not sure how that works once this pod rolls it'll be there I think regardless of people how they feel about what you're saying they should give you credit for being brave enough to go against the public uh meanies the Mean Girls and the and the trolls because it does appear you have just want there to be a fair trial and uh that's hard yeah hard it is but and you know my dad was a retired Navy man and he taught me to have thi thick skin people have talked about me and as you said the quote unquote mean girls in their little podcast they've been nonstop and I look at it like this I was there every day I listened to the trial I didn't do anything wrong so if you have to talk about me then you're leaving somebody else the hell alone well I mean and you didn't ask for any of this you were only serving your P your civic duty so I mean again again cudos to you for speaking out and good luck good luck I mean keep us keep us updated and you know say hi to the monkeys say hi to the monkeys I'll do thank you very much have a great night thank you all right thank you bye bye
