[Music] sore white was awarded the contract for the Melbourne Airport nway stage 1 Project a critical infrastructure upgrade to improve connectivity at Australia's second busiest airport the project involved constructing a new elevated Road connection from the tarine freeway to the terminal 4 ground transport Hub including a 900 M atg grade section and a 350 M elevated section comprising five spans of concrete super t- beams and four spans of steelbox girs facing the unique challenge of working in an operational airport environment the team devised innovative solutions to minimize disruptions these included dual crane lifts for beam installation custom drop-in bracket solutions for efficient steel beam placement and the use of extended 13.1 M trans floor panels thought to be an Australian first in Bridge construction with a 95.4% waste diversion rate from landfill far exceeding the industry average and 28,6 32 tons of contaminated material recycled within the airport boundary the project demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability despite facing a 2-year Hiatus due to covid-19 the project team demonstrated resilience and adaptability successfully navigating challenges such as price escalations and material shortages the Nam Way project has significantly improved airport Access allowing passengers to bypass roundabouts and track traffic lights it also supports Melbourne Airport's long-term growth plans solidifying its position as a Cornerstone of the Victorian economy
