thanks you know there were a few times when uh Biden or or Trump would talk they put the mics up so even though they were supposed to be quiet so like they'd be hearing something and you'd see the audio person's mic goes up and the one reason uh the where the debate moderators will come in two minutes two minutes is two minutes whoever asked the questions if if three4 of the questions about abortion then you're putting your hand on the scale well we're just hours away from the big debate and you do ask yourself a question is it surprising uh that camela Harris doesn't want to do a sit down interview with any of the buffoons clowns or whatever word you want at Fox this is them seriously we find out if ABC wants to keep that perfect score going 100% positive for uh for kamla Harris and then Trump has got to be ready for that mentally point it out and move point it out and move well he also has to point to the the big dump that was actually just put on uh in our report from CNN's Kile talking about uh why is Larry look at me I got a job on the TV dressed like he's going to a funeral is there something we is there something I'm missing here I think he's going to lie and um you know he has a Playbook that he has used in the past um be it you know his attacks on President Obama or Hillary Clinton so we should expect that some of that might come out won't be an audience won't be any notes and Trump says that is no problem when Fox asked the campaign how is the former president uh preparing for tonight they quipped back what is debate prep implying that he simply does not need it that he could maybe wing it of course he's we know this isn't going to be actual improv here uh his can't beign added what I can't work out he's either a great debater or is it's all been fixed some deep State they've got hold of ABC uh this is just how childish there isn't any other description uh it is he's going to instigate a boycott of Disney if the questions answer his liking this is just we're talking about an election here and we have a circus just you couldn't write this as a comedy the guys lost the plot well to be fair come to that conclusion half the country to attend their theme parks maybe they don't care about their tanking stock price which is their prerogative they're free to make that choice but if they are biased against Donald Trump as they have been leading into tomorrow night as their nightly newscast is half the country is not going to like it one bit they're not going to like ABC Disney one bit either but from everything I see has no respect for this person well that's because he'd rather have a puppet as president of the unit States it's pretty clear it's pretty clear you won't admit the Russians have engaged in cyber attacks against the United States of America that you encouraged Espionage against our people that you are willing to spout the Putin line sign up for his wish list break up NATO do whatever he wants to do and that you continue to get help from him because he has a very clear favorite in this race I suppose there are very few people have actually sat in what I called the chair not in the old chair uh the moderator's chair where you are tasked with moderating um presidential candidates I'll be honest with you the last few I've seen this election and previous elections I've been a bit disappointed I remember when Chris W is sat in the seat it's almost like they get to that seat and they freeze well they don't fact check they just don't I didn't I thought Jake Tapper and Dana Bash did a really bad job uh with Trump and President Biden then they would say well it's not their job but it is your job anyway Dana Bash was on with Jens saki I know it's very weird isn't it when you get a you know a CNN host being interviewed by an MSNBC host but she got the book to plug but bearing in mind we're a few hours away from the presidential debate it perhaps gave all of us an opportunity to find out what is the can I say this about Dan bash because didn't do a very good job but anyway what is the secret of the tricks how to interview a presidential candidate is that what we call it or you didn't do a good job how do you compare it the um the parallels are uncanny in so many ways one of the ways Jen is just with the sort of main character if you will who was the governor of Louisiana Henry warmouth who was somebody who had character traits who are so familiar and I'm just going to read you a couple of examples uh people knew warmouth was a crook but remained Fe fiercely loyal to him their allegiance to warmouth defied description it appeared they were willing to die or kill for him the question was why they touched um they forgave him all of that he understood them he touched a part of them that only few others had reached he was fighting for them for the way of life they had once once lived now back then that way of life was this is during Reconstruction it was pre uh pre-reconstruction pre- Civil War when obviously slavery um was very much in place and so now what he was helping them fight for at that point was slavery wasn't going to come back but they wanted to make sure that blacks didn't get power and change their way of life and back then it was Democrats who were the segregationist and who were the just Flatout racists and so they were trying to do whatever they could to suppress the vote the New Black black vote and in Louisiana and other states but this particular story is how they were successful in doing so they realized the only way to keep Society from changing so drastically was to make sure that blacks didn't vote and they were intimidated they were uh threatened they were disenfranchised and they were murdered in some cases in a massacre there are so many racial comparisons you just outlined them to present day today as well where we see with voter SU around the country you've answered it a bit there but how do you look at those comparisons in terms of how rhetoric is used to kind of suppress the vote to intimidate people to make immigrants sound like they are bringing violence to our country how does how do you compare th this time to that time again very similar very similar there were um discussions about rants about people coming from the southern border back then just as they are now and you know it was started in 1872 and then it went up to 1876 which people might be a little bit more familiar with because of the uh parallels there between what happened then and and 2021 when things were so bad in Louisiana and three other states that they sent two slates of electors to Washington and there was a debate about what the vice president's role was was it uh something that is more ceremonial or could the vice president choose sounds familar the Electoral slates and they decided then it was ceremonial but another familiar thing that happened back then there one of the riots in the streets of New Orleans um erupted and chance hang him hang him about the opponent that they were trying to uh stage a coup against that was actually the rightly elected governor very eerie I I now you're here and you have moderated the last debate you also did the one interview with the president and vice presidential candidates so you know a lot about these people as my point Neil Cel was on earlier and um he's a great lawyer a good friend very smart he made a point that I actually hear from people friends on text chains people who when you go to events why can't the moderators do more to fact check now Trump is a different character but you moderated the last debate why can't they shouldn't things change with Trump as a candidate I I I think Neil is brilliant and I also have so much respect for him but the the uh statement that he made to you I I disagree and what he said was it is the moderator's job to be a participant basically in the debate and I totally agree when I'm doing an interview I completely agree when I am maybe moderating a town hall when the person who is um trying to be an elected official doesn't have their competitor there but if a moderator gets that involved in a debate they are a participant in the debate and look there are all of this is a judgment call it's it's not easy bet not but it is a judgment call and what we decided to do was follow the um model that had been in place since Kennedy Nixon really which is the moderators facilitate and you allow the candidates to debate one another and in that case fact check one another um you know I was just talking to Kevin Madden who worked for Mitt Romney and about this afterwards and he said oh know it's a slippery slope you know PE some people are very much against it some people are very much for it but I just I try to put myself in the position of okay let's say what happens when we do fact check then where does it end how far does it go again they are judgment calls uh I'm not saying that it is not possible but it's um it's difficult and you can be sure that the people who are saying fact check now are going to say or maybe the other side depending on how it goes who is maybe telling the falsehood will say well the moderator had their some on thumb on the scale now we know what happens in a trump debate I'm not saying it's going to be Equitable but it doesn't make it easy well very few people have sat in that seat to know which is the other thing to remember you've also said that we should expect any anything or everything tomorrow night and I could not agree more they've never met in person they've never debated each other it's very weird I can't stop thinking about it I can't either I know it's wild Dana Bash I can talk to you forever it's amazing you have this new amazing book America but thankfully the Supreme Court and Trump have decoupled abortion right it's not a national issue anymore it's I've said this several times before there a lady called Jessica talb who's on the Five on Fox and I don't know where she gets her resilience from her Pat it's always basically four goons trying to shout her down take today Monday Greg gutted was trying to say that uh well Trump hasn't changed his position on abortion which is clearly not true it's an A's Hill for him something that they're they're just all over the place on the subject so I set it up just watch how Jessica she does it so well off the table so women don't have to be the single issue voter anymore they don't have to ignore crime immigration inflation energy education all of these huge issues what we would call the rest of the world you don't have to just vote based on what Planned Parenthood depends demands of you you know he's already said he's against the national ban so the right to choose is now a state issue which is closer to the voter I bring this up because this is going to come up tomorrow and Trump need just needs to say this is not part of my you know my decision-making it's now back to you so a vote for or against Trump from a woman has no impact on the issue of abortion has no impact the Dems don't want you to know that they're very reductive if you're a woman it has to be about abortion how insulting is that how stereotypical is that that you can't think about inflation that you can't think about foreign policy oo that's not important it's not it's my right to choose not on the table well why did Trump flop on you know you know Dana he never did he did last week on how he's vote I just told you he said he knows that a six week abortion man is Draconian and then when I guess he heard from his big donors he said ah you know what I'm just going to let it go that doesn't you just heard my this is a state thing it's closer to the voters he does I mean you could bring that up but that does that's like playing in the weeds what I'm talking about right now is the issue is decoupled right from the election right there's a rig trial they rigged an election the system is rigged Mexico is going to pay for the wall that created maybe the best economy the virus that goes away in April with the heat November 5th is going to be the most important day in the history of our country there's a great degree of racism involved here that we don't talk about enough Trump's Coalition is 85% % white in a country that's 59% white and people when I say that to my old Republican friends they go okay steart mean everybody voted for Trump was a racist like no but it means that everybody voted for Trump there was something more important to them than having a racist as president because you can't deny that Donald Trump is a racist and I think that the party has become driven by this white grievance and this anger and it's really at war with the future this is a party that gets in a fight with Nike over calling cap neck gets in a fight with Disney I mean this is just a rejection of the world as it is um and it's so different from the Reagan Era where I was drawn to the party which was optimistic when to be born in America you one life's Lottery to be born in Trump's America you're a victim you're a sucker there are these powerful forces out there that take advantage of you and I think that that is a complete reversal of what it means to be an American
