Large tree falls on west Toledo senior living apartment building

A caved in roof down ceilings and water damage. That's the reality for some West Toledo wins tonight after a tree fell on an apartment complex, Dominique o'neill joins us outside of Hope Manor Apartments where the tree fell. So Dominique, the weather's been fine today. How, how did this tree fall? Exactly. Well, Michael, we don't know exactly how these trees came down at this apartment building behind me. But I did talk to some residents who say they've been begging for these trees to be cut down for many months. Now, between 8 to 10 residents are looking for a home due to the damage. I was sitting in my chair playing a game on my phone and all of a sudden I hear this crash. That's what Charlotte Frost heard. Saturday afternoon when this Hawking oak tree landed on the roof of Hope Manor Apartments. I looked up and I seen it come through the one part of my house. So I jumped up and if I wouldn't have, it would have crushed me. Another resident Susan Wisdom. Fire crews found her still trapped in her unit and it was so dangerous that they had to help her out by cutting a hole in her wall, you know, crackling and stuff. And I just thought my cat had knocked something off the wall and, um, I opened my eyes and I was covered with pink, um, um, uh, insulation following this incident, Toledo Fire battalion Chief Matthew Brixi says the building is now condemned it. It's just too dangerous for us to get under. So they're going to get a crane out here. The building owners are to get it removed and then from there, the repair will have to start on the building leaving 8 to 10 people without a home shut down right now. So nobody will be going back in there. Uh The property owners here have been very gracious and they're finding housing for everybody that's was displaced. Yes. And a battalion chief uh Matthew Brix, he tells me that the timetable for the clean up is not exactly known at this time, but he, he did tell us that there are no injuries from this uh tree that crashed into the, the apartments reporting in West Toledo Domenico.
