Injury Updates for CMC & Puka Nacua | Fantasy Focus 🏈

St we got to talk about two injuries we're starting though obviously with Christian mcaffrey who was a surprise scratch it felt like minutes before Monday Night Football uh Mike Clay actually put out a tweet because after the game we saw that Jordan Mason was talking about how he was told potentially on Friday that he was either going to get the start or he would likely get this start which as just a fan sitting on the on my couch watching this feels like Kyle Shanahan that doesn't feel good to me if this was the case I know you're obviously not going to step into those those Waters but I do want ask you about Christian mcaffrey and what this could mean not just for this week for Fantasy managers but beyond well I think uh there is a some value in looking at the process uh that we came to for Fantasy purposes which is that chrish mcaffrey had the calf injury that he was dealing with early in Camp and by all accounts it was not serious and so everybody expected based on chrisan mcaffrey the athlete and how in tune he is with his body the way the 49ers were acting earlier this week uh John Lynch on the radio saying he'd be ready to roll like everything set up for Christian mcaffry to play and he expressed confidence that he would not only play but have a significant workload so that was our process and expectation of Christian mcaffrey playing on Monday night I would also say the takeaway for all of us myself included as I'm going to players list is questionable you note that he's questionable and you always have to save somebody for just in case so that was the process coming into the week uh I would say that now now that we know he was inactive and the report is according to KY shanan that he didn't feel good enough to go um and that as far as next week what you asked about Kyle Shanahan was asked this question I want to use his words his response to the report uh the suggestion that CMC would not likely play this week because it was a short week they will have a short week and they're going to Minnesota so it'll be on Turf his quote that person must be God because we just found out he wasn't playing today and I have no idea how he'll feel tomorrow or the next day I thought he was playing this whole week until today so I don't know who knows he's not playing next week unfortunately pukan nakua got hurt in that Lions Rams game and then he was placed on IR meaning he's going to miss at least the next four weeks what can you tell us about that injury and if there's anything else we need to know about puka so puka nikua is dealing with a sprained PCL it's posterior cruciate ligament one of the four main stabilizing ligaments of your knee uh often injured when you bang your knee directly on the turf or you come into cont with something on the front and pushes your shin backwards relative to your thigh bone and that's how you sprain your PCL and we saw pukaa go down on the turf with a couple of those mechanisms so certainly that could be the reason this happened prior to the season starting he had been bothered by what Sean McVey said was a burus saac injury now the burus saac also on the front of the knee was the same side we never heard about a PCL being any part of the issue so based on the reporting I believe this is a new injury as far as time missed it really depends on how long does it take for the knee to feel stable to scar down enough to where you're not worried about contact could it bother him intermittently throughout the season it could we saw that with Zeke Elliott who had a similar injury it kind of bothered him intermittently throughout the year so nkua will be back I expect could be longer than four weeks but how he performs and plays really depends on how it heals during that time
