I'm John Champion and here alongside me in the commentary box is Jim begy hello John hello everyone it's a real pleasure to be here let's take a look then at the two teams [Applause] so much has been written and said in the buildup to this game but what sort of contest are you really expecting it'll be interesting to see how much of the ball their key players will see [Applause] and we're now underway oh a volley and he makes absolutely no mistake that really puts them in charge early on listen it's a great start but we've seen teams surprise themselves with early goals before and sit back they've got to avoid that one of the best that Ry well it was a good cross from the right that this B makes it look like the easiest skill in the game I can tell you it's not the hit shots like that [Applause] comes the corner [Applause] L came from a lack of vision the space was out wide and getting hit traffic the defense will have to be on its toes with this throw real chance to get the ball forward great through ball over the top he created a great chance there that's a great ball over the top to put him through but he just unable to convert [Applause] it intercepted [Applause] running on and on send it to the middle the cross cleared [Applause] away for it goes [Applause] now an attack based on wit and he's done well to get his head on that cleared away from danger just how wasteful was that it's gone for the middle and no danger there from that cross two teammates in good positions further forward nicely worked and he'll drive it here nicely fed in okay they've missed a couple of chances so far but we can take nothing away from their spirit and desires they look as though they wanted more he can send the ball forward to his colleagues here LS that one back it's a super effort this what a run and he plays the ball in not cleared very far well he's read that well once more but can he now get them on the front foot what they seem to need is more telling use of the ball across the PA good chance for him to move forward here Russell goes R just gives the throw they intercept the pass outstanding interception in his own box launches the ball forward pass back oh this ball control is excellent there are a couple of options for him here it's going right across the goal the danger passes with a timely deflection the corner though coming up the side and he throws one in and that's a top class clearance three colleagues hoping for a [Applause] pass tries the buly didn't get anywhere near the ball free kick well it's a bit far out but you never know he might just make something with this and we've barely had half of the first half that will go behind for a goal [Applause] okay an opportunity down the side crosses towards the center up for the header [Applause] doesn't manage to get that one through lays a long ball forward ball played in it's led to a goal he got above the defense there and he met that cross spot on [Applause] now a run up the flank and he crosses to the center not fully cleared yet and still he goes on running from the wing and he crosses it into the middle up goes the assistant referee's flag no wonder they look disappointed there was a chance to take the lead [Applause] [Applause] there looking towards the penalty area now and he hits it in towards the middle 5 minutes before halime and it's level now he crosses into the center the cross takes a deflection off the defender so a Corner's given [Applause] two men to aim for here now he can go on his own and it's a really well taken goal that's 2-1 and he went on and on and on and scored it's so rare to see that kind of ability in the modern game I'm just delighted in the go great great start that's picked up by the goalkeeper [Applause] they win the throw deep inside the opponent's half the ball is sent into the middle the cross met firmly halime is now upon us this has been good to watch I think they showed some real quality on and off the ball stretch the opposition Defenders all over the p all they need now is to continue in the same fashion add to that t just one goal separates them 2-1 on the score sheet the second half gets underway safe to say they're in no hurry to relinquish the upper hand sends it towards the center hits it well goes out for a goal kick [Applause] he launches it [Music] forward and maybe now clear that one is intercepted he intercepts oh the crowd love a dribbler well beaten to the ball there was nice to be able to move forward the ball played forward that's not going to get Ro of the coach is it that's just him in Hope jump to the [Applause] header now running up the flank there it is and a chance well everything was right there except the finish and after all all that they got no reward you have to say the play was top class and yet no end product the ball given back and a hiter and it's taken with some Style [Applause] that pass didn't make it and the cross is cleared deflection on the cross it's a [Applause] corner no way through now into the penalty area a switch of play that's it out promising position from the wing here H it long intercepted now the ball going in front he's found space well that clearance was very necessary he has options here but he can certainly get it Forward here's a chance and the cross dealt with plays it in and the cross [Music] repelled they really need to start looking for some space the chances aren't going to come if they keep playing like this and he sends it in leaks for the header [Applause] [Music] approaching the last 15 minutes of the game and he's got quite a shot on him great finish well can you believe that what a shot what a finish perfectly placed in the left hand corner sh the pass cut out long pass forward caught him there free kick what a touch on the [Applause] ball the fysio gives the thumbs up and he's back on the pitch fans will be mightily relieved he can continue the ball retention has been good to a point but they suffer carelessness at T I think they just need to keep their composure rry in a good position to give the free kick stopped [Applause] cynically and the head now it's a goal Ki [Applause] good interception here [Applause] moving into the box and he curs it in it's the ideal response what a wonderful reply and that should give them a real boost now admirable ball control that's what set up the chance wonderful stuff and it was all about quick think and an even quicker feet but you have to ask questions as to how he got through brought down on the chest so both sides acutely aware that one mistake could lose them this game he's got a choice but he can certainly move it forward and he continues long run no one in the area and here's a [Applause] chance they need a bit more urgency in their play time is ticking away there's the chance what a glorious chance oh that would have been a great way to win it right at the end but they blew it and it might be their last opportunity now this late in G that would have been the winner for sure but on this occasion not quite moving up the wing got a touch on the ball he can move the ball forward here it's a long run this one gets possession and he crosses it that's halted the danger so that's it the final whistle well that was a great game thanks to two teams who always promote attacking football they've given us goals with attacks coming from gretly everywhere on the pitch just a single goal to separate in the end but unbalance it was probably a fair result and with that it's time for me to thank my co-
