[Music] the NFL is finally here we had our first Sunday of NFL football yeah we had the Chiefs and the Ravens and the Packers and the Eagles Thursday and Friday night but the first NFL Sunday today we had a lot of close games a lot of good games and some upsets today and Tom Brady's debut as a color commentator over on Fox we'll get into all those other games and Tom Brady tomorrow on the Monday evening quarterback with Ryan kennel and myself over on the sports Wars channel right here tomorrow night uh but we had our first Sunday night Prime Time game the Los Angeles Rams visiting the Detroit Lions Matt Stafford again going back home where he spent several years with the Detroit Lions uh where he you know he did his best but the Lions struggled pretty much his entire career with Detroit visiting the Lions again and the Rams and the and the Lions the last game that the Rams played was against the Li lions in the in the postseason in the playoffs just last year uh where the Lions did unfortunately lose the NFC Championship to the 49ers but tonight the Lions beat the Rams 26 to 20 in an overtime game in the first half both offenses kind of struggled they kind of struggled learning to just you know knocking off the rust kind of in the first half it was a defensive battle in the first half both teams started to get elves together in the second half the Detroit running game I mean just look at it David Montgomery with 17 carries 91 yards jir Gibbs 11 carries for 40 yards each of them scored a rushing touchdown Jared Goff through the air 18 completions on 28 attempts 2117 passing yards he averaged eight yards per attempt one touchdown one interception with an 85 passer rating Matthew Stafford with a lot more attempts he had 34 completions on 49 attempts 317 passing yards one touchdown one interception a crucial interception in the end zone to a at the very end of the second quarter right before halftime with an 85 passer rating pukaa rookie sensation last year for the Rams he picked up a lot of the slack for Los Angeles last year with Cooper cups injury pukan neua suffered a knee injury he tried to power through but unfortunately he couldn't go the rest of the game went back to the locker room on a cart and he was ruled out for the rest of the game does not look good for the Rams and puka nakua going forward I'm sure we're going to get some information on that injury uh time will tell what that how significant that injury will be but it doesn't look good Cooper cup um for receiving he had 14 receptions 110 receiving yards one touchdown and on 21 targets a lot of mistakes for the Rams later in this game like I said Matt Stafford had a crucial interception in the end zone to end the second quarter and then a lot of mistakes going for the Rams at the end of this game where they were in crucial crunch time where they needed a touchdown to tie the game eventually they would tie the game um actually they would take the lead they would take the lead 20-7 the Lions would March down the field kick a field goal send this game into overtime Lions would get the ball in overtime and that was game the Lions would March down the field in overtime with a Montgomery rushing touchdown and that was it man the Lions I would like to say the Lions all over the Rams tonight but that just wasn't the case it was a very strong defensive battle both offensive kind of struggled to get things together but they eventually did but a very gritty game a very gritty matchup tonight for the Rams and the Lions but the Lions do best the Rams 26 to 20 on Sunday Night Football did you guys enjoy the first NFL Sunday for the 2024 2025 season did you guys watch tonight's game let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comment section below but if you like this video give it a thumbs up I'd really appreciate it share it with a friend who you think would enjoy it subscribe to this channel if you're new and we'll talk to you again soon [Music]
