news so obviously there is some news some breaking and some not so breaking all right so let's go ahead and Dive Right on into it in big favor I always like to ask hit the like button get in the habit was confirming the first opinion Derek Brown has been placed on injured reserve so something that already came out yesterday that he was likely to be placed on end Reserve didn't know how much time he was going to miss felt like it could be season ending so he wanted to have a second opinion that second opinion has taken place Derek Brown officially out for the season unfortunately then we made some changes all right so Derek Brown opens up a roster spot by removing him and then we opened up another spot we waved outside linebacker Jamie Sheriff now Jamie Sheriff was guy that got some some playing time last week he got 17 snaps on defense 11 snaps on special teams but they deemed that he was no longer needed his Services were no longer needed and so therefore we made some changes you know I think last week I said something about why didn't they just sign these guys to a 53 man I forget exactly what I said but I've learned something new which is some of these guys are veterans and after week two they don't have to fully guarantee their contracts so from a financial standpoint when you hire a guy and then you could let him go because you just don't need him you know interchangeable parts well it gives you some flexibility when you don't have to pay them a full year versus if you know you bring him on now he's a a vested veteran and you got to guarantee you know some of his contracts so nevertheless that was part of the reason why you have to moves with guys being elevated versus signs to the 53 man roster last week so we have running back Mike Boone and cornerback Lonnie Johnson both who were elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster last week well there are now on the active roster Mike Boone well he only had five snaps on the offensive side but he had 19 for special teams and then we had Lonnie Johnson who got a lot of playing time last week Lonnie had had 27 snaps on special teams 27 snaps so that was uh a lot of special team snaps but that happens when you allow nine consecutive scores by the Saints well we also then opened up two spots in which we used that flexibility to add some guys to our practice squad those people were defensive end DeShawn Williams and cornerback uh zizzy Hearn to the practice squad now Williams he was actually here last season started 10 games played in 16 uh he also played in Denver with IO e man I'm GNA try to say Eero IO and then we have Hearn which was in Camp with the Raiders last year this year he's with the uh Patriots practice squad he's now with your Carolina p pan on the practice squad so they have one more player that uh has been widely rumored to be coming to the Carolina Panthers that's going to be Charles Harris again Charles Harris uh an edge rusher and he is going to be coming shortly I can say shortly that he's a guy again with that veteran thing like once they Adam in week two then he can be not guaranteed and give them some flexibility if they have to drop it for any reason or another so that gets you up to date with all the news regarding this Carolina Panthers team I told you if there's news I'm going to be bringing it to you and that's going to be the the
