Pennsylvania, 67 counties are expected to begin processing both mail and absentee ballot applications on Monday. However, voters may not even receive their ballot until much later. Fox 43 Robert over joins us now and shares when those voters can expect to receive the ballots. Robert. Yeah, Lisa officials with the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania say counties still do not have a final certified list of candidates for November's election. Now because of that voters are unlikely to receive their ballot for an undetermined amount of time with election day around the corner counties across the state are gearing up for a busy season. Lisa Schafer, executive director with the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania says they've been working closely with counties to make sure everything runs smoothly. We know there's a lot of misinformation. We know there's a lot of questions and confusion. So our role as the organization speaking on behalf of counties can help to provide that consistent message and provide another source of accurate information that voters can look to as we move toward the November election. Voters in Pennsylvania have until October 29th to apply for a mail in or absentee ballot but people aren't expected to receive one any time soon. We are still awaiting the courts to finish resolving challenges to certain petitions, certain challenges on the ballot until that happens, the Department of State cannot a ballot and then counties cannot finalize their ballots and print those. There is no law that says counties must distribute ballots at a certain time other than when they are finalized. Schafer says the hold up is from pending objections and legal actions related to third party candidates. Those candidates have been challenged based on, you know, whether it's based on their petitions or other qualifications and those appeals are still pending for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. So until those challenges are resolved, we cannot certify a ballot for printing. Last month. Robert F. Kennedy Jr was granted a petition to withdraw from the state ballot according to the Department of State's 2024 nomination paper man Damis, an objections. Tracker. The State Supreme Court has pending decisions on four other candidates and you can see Commonwealth Court says no but Supreme Court it's been appealed. So it's to be determined to be determined. Fox 43 reached out to the State Supreme Court on when candidates will be selected. A spokesperson could not provide a timeline at this time. And I also reached out to the Department of State for a comment about the situation, but as of this hour have not received a response, Alyssa and Robert, of course, a lot of information for voters to keep up with.
