Altoids Tangerine Sours Discontinued Snack Taste Test! $100 Candy Expired in 2005!

hey guys hello bella here and in this video i'm going to be opening some 12 year old altoids that i bought on ebay and we're going to be taste testing them to see if they are as good as we remember oh well we made progress oh my god look at them look just like i remember oh my god so many years ago they even have like a little press you know like 10. oh yeah they've got okay um is that the original ceiling you think it really doesn't look like it yeah david it looks like you taped this button we've been bamboozled show the camera this does not look original no it looks like somebody scotch taped it this is what he said okay we bought this from someone on ebay named david cross and he said hi isabella i just wanted to reach out and let you know that your order has been shipped the tracking number has been added and basically he says that if he figures out that the seal is broken he can no longer accept returns for this item i do not advise you to eat it for two reasons the first being because you got a bargain on this and i used to sell these for 200 per 10 every month consistently since i just want them gone now that is why i lowered the price to 99 and now they're selling four times a week yeah the second i mentioned all this in my description but i just wanted to make sure you knew this was strictly sold as a collectible for display purposes and for resale but it's yours so you can consume it if you wish wow he is really serious about altoids yes um and i did see that he has one left there's one left and it's selling for how much uh 150 150 so i missed out he also said he sold 110 for 2 000 at one point that's incredible it was a different kind though so we're gonna open them and let you look at them and maybe taste them maybe i don't know i'm cautious i mean he even said don't eat them i feel like we should though it's best buy 12.05 is that a single five really hold on yeah so or is that may 5th of 2012. depends on if you would think the year would be last i hope so so we think they're 10 years old we think so because they were discontinued in uh 2010. expired january 2nd 2005. oh my god i hadn't graduated high school i was in elementary school consuming it is up to you yeah this is so this is actually 16 years old okay no 17 now but 17 20 20 almost 17. almost 17 years old i want to go ahead and open these up yeah all right yeah they did not they resealed that there's no way they were i mean i remember opening these and it wasn't tape no he resealed it he did which means he's probably bamboozled what yeah what's there be like coal or something in there you can still smell them um yeah can you smell it [Laughter] i remember i used to bring these to school did you have those in school um yeah and i you i remember i primarily ate them in church mom would always have a ten of those in her purse i remember the red ones too oh yeah they were delicious but these were the ones that people wanted back today and these are still the ones people want they're holding their value okay well i guess we should just open it i'm scared i'm so scared okay we have to press and then do it i'm so nervous okay i feel like i need to stand up for this yeah oh my god is it gonna open normally i don't know you may try it try to give it a bigger bit more squeeze i'm so scared i can't get it open let me try i think it's it's slowly it's probably like sealed it's probably like stuck we might have to get up see if i can give it a good thumb squeeze and like probably end up breaking the tiana i'm scared it does not squeeze open but oh it's coming it's coming open okay oh boy come on i want to go do you think it's gonna be green or something well so i was gonna say do you think it's still gonna have the original color do you think that there's going to be some sort of mold or rot oh do you think it's gonna it doesn't move it's one piece you think it's one solid like is it one melted solid mass or does it still have some of the original shape i think it's just one you think it's one like a puck i think we're gonna have to cut this up like i hope there's still some of the original texture that's what i'm hoping i hope for the best but i'm expecting the worst okay do you want me to like open this facing the camera or open it and react i don't know let's show the camera first let's look let's let them see before we get to but there's still some of the original texture in there i'm gonna eat it you're gonna eat it are you if you do i'd be it'd be hard for me not to oh i don't know that we should i'm gonna we paid a hundred dollars for it do you want my money to go to waste i don't but oh my goodness it's is it on your hand a little bit okay look at the show that this is what the inside of it look at that taste it yeah gross oh that's gonna be terrible just just put your tongue just light your tongue i don't like the smell of it i'll be honest it tastes pretty much like the original it doesn't look exactly that you could maybe get a nugget out of that it tastes fun uh you can lick it well you can lick a lot of things doesn't mean you should it doesn't mean it's legal [Laughter] look at it don't be a baby like the whole thing let me let me lick the residue i already like that part this feels worse yes somehow that's got my spit on it no you don't like that right it's fine it's not good it's not bad it's not as bad as i expected i've had worse that part is the sus yeah that don't mess with that looks she's pointing at oh my god okay you can see it it looks like a beehive yeah it's like right in oh it's kind of nasty you know what though we could sell these we could cut these up into pieces and sell it for 25 per taste you think so yes because i mean it's a hundred to try it so true it's like drugs you have to break it down and then sell it for smaller portions you get a pound buy a pound break it down that's a good that's a rap song i'm pretty sure so are we going to scoop this out onto the board yeah let's scoop it out and let people see what it looks like so i'm going to try and scoop scoop this loop scoop the uh we'll see if i can get it it is it's in there good oh it's in there good it's interesting how it pulled up so much i thought that would come out easier based on the way it moved when we opened it oh my god it's really in there i'm gonna break this spoon well it's okay i can get more spoons these altoids will have cost 100 and one spoon and my dignity for that's true and whatever dumb enough to buy them whatever kind of illness or disease we get from you know what though there's gonna be like a whole tongue's on this this could be a whole series of like just continue i saw where they have all kinds of different flavors of kool-aid that's like 10 years old and i bet that would be fine we would literally drink the kool-aid yeah you're leaving behind so much that's probably twenty-five dollars worth yeah you're probably right it's hard to get it it looks like you can get it to come off what is it oh it doesn't feel good it just feels like sugar you think i should scrape that out too no i think we could just lick that part so this is what it looks like okay so this is this is what we're working with here this is the most probably one of the most expensive pieces of candy that anyone's ever held if you really get down to it ridiculous what do you think i mean you think we should like cut it up and try pieces of it i think i mean it's got its original shape left i think i'm not going to swallow much of it i think this is a spit kind of affair put it in the mouth swish it around a little bit spit it out yeah what do you think ollie will you try it no maybe what does it smell like what does it smell like okay that's not a good sign he didn't want it oh no even the dog said no thanks and look how like it's hard we could do an altoids drop off of a building oh my god i'm gonna drop it it's gonna have dog hair and be 17 years old okay well let's cut it up and then we'll take a taste test that's pretty big piece that's probably forty dollar piece right there i don't know if we should eat all of that a big nugget cut that one that's in half let's cut it in half because i mean juicy knot oh it's kind of like coming apart can you pull it now i think so oh that's impressive yeah you just gotta get in there alright see and that's where i haven't been wanting to touch it so this is where yeah like look which is coming up it's that's its original form yeah okay that one's yours ah yeah see my resistance to touch with my hands um carries over my mouth uh even more so why i this doesn't what do you think is gonna happen do we have the same size piece we have a very similar size yeah i'm going to take the big one oh no i want you to eat the one that you don't think you need the big one why i want to eat a lot of it i don't know what this would do to you you did it you just did it you just did it all right bottoms up oh my god it's really good it tastes just like they used to not um no um while the texture is not there it is not the flavor i don't there's something there oh i think it needs to come out no oh no i can't they're so unhealthy so bad that's not it's 17 year old candy okay well i'm 27 you're gonna throw me away it's 17 year old candy yeah are you chewing it are you not supposed to i don't think you're supposed to it's kind of like laffy taffy we should look up whether or not sugar can actually like probably sickness there's probably got some level of like alcohol to it by now right you would i don't know does it does it but it doesn't need yeast to ferment it's been in that can for 17 years yeah i think you have to have yeast in order to here's what we'll do we'll put it back in we'll add yeast we'll close it for another 17 years booze now that could be actually interesting get someone who knows how to taste it there who knows how to distill or knows how to you i think you could you could make um it's not enough sugar honestly but you could you could maybe you could make a shot a shotsworth you could make a drink off of that maybe somehow we got some more if anybody wants to buy some 20 bucks a pop 20 bucks a pop right get you a little get you a gram 25 for the one that i've touched and had in my mouth but you know if you buy it from david cross it's going to be 150 now i paid 100. now he's raised the price of 150 right he's manipulating the market and of all people david cross how are you doing did you spit it out i spit it out it is on the cutting board are you serious i can't it tastes it it my body is rejecting i'm just wasting money with you you it was an experience i ate something that not many people have eaten this is like getting off a roller coaster are you like you're eating eating it yeah oh i think you're gonna get oh my god i gotta start over cut me a new piece oh now the dog's eating it oh that's dangerous he can have it i don't think anyone should have it look why don't you live a little i have and i'd like to continue to do so and i oh no you didn't oh you didn't oh you did oh no you're savage that fish didn't taste so good the whole thing didn't taste so good i really don't think you should swallow mind over matter i think that's the kind of matter that you shouldn't put in your mouth okay well what is your reaction besides the health effects of it it's it hadn't it had some of the similar like it had like a hint of the original flavor like it's what i remember them tasting like only not there's no sour really right i think that whole coating yeah has just went into googly glop yeah and now it's all one big yeah and it's just the sugar that remains and but there wasn't a lot of ingredients to begin with so yeah i mean but even like the what the part that gave it that like strong tangerine flavor is just not there this part tastes different this part right here the lid has a different flavor it looks different it does i'm a detective with my mouth try it until you know something bad happens i guess i will watch from the sidelines maybe the piece that i had was worse than your piece because you did say your other piece there tasted a little bit worse cut you one of those good nuggets like them one of the good nuggets yeah one of those fine nuggets fine what about this nugget right here look at that that one that one had a little sauce on it a little stringiness coming it's actually still kind of holding some shape the other one was yeah the tail of it the television oh now it's now i got the tail oh no that looks like a little don't put that in your mouth don't do it why don't you do it's just sugar let's try it again there's there's something off yeah it's 17 years old right that's why i'm thinking we shouldn't eat it i already swallowed like a lot of it i'm gonna go get your stomach pump i'm not telling the emergency room people i ordered altoids candy for a hundred dollars to come to the emergency room i would rather die oh i said i just swallowed a little bit i don't like that i was trying to show it on my tongue before it fell on the ground i could really get down with it i can't maybe we should make a follow-up video with the current altoids on the market to compare it because right now it's really i don't know like i can only compare it to my memory of it and my memory is old so i will say my reaction of it is that it's like i said i can i can it's in a style shot i can i can like take myself back to like sitting in church and just eating these altoids sours as you get called to center as i get caught a center and it's it's like it tastes very similar but it's not exactly the same like i said there's so much of a change of course it's changed it's 17 years old yeah but the more this one's set in my mouth it's not as bad i think there's just like an aversion to it knowing you know some of the placebo but it does smell it smells off and it tastes off it smells a little bit i had to take it out it smells a lot like fermented he's gonna eat the whole nug i'm gonna be it's it's so nasty it's the act there's an aftertaste too and i don't you just gotta keep going like what you're gonna get sick you are gonna be sick and throwing up here in about like an hour i think quitters never win and winners never quit that's what my baseball coach said we need to do like an update video um a couple of days later deceased yeah did did bella make it that's a that's what it looks like after you give it a little bit of spit though do with that information what you will hmm are you really going to eat another chunk of that it's not that bad it's not that good i got a thousand calories left today do you think it was worth a hundred dollars to find out yes to find out there was that that mystery right we had to know plus there was the excitement leading up to the fact that we were going to find out and that's part of the joy of it oh yeah it's been an experience for sure and it you know it did kind of bring back those memories with that taste i mean the original taste is still there in some way you can it's it's still it's still got some of it i will stop now please do okay one more he's just addicted to the taste i actually kind of like them i'm gonna save them you to save them i'm gonna put them back in there you don't put them back in the table let's return them to their what about the even the ones that we've touched yeah sure eaten i think maybe put them in a separate tin or something no fair enough it has to keep the integrity of what it is the integrity of what for another 17 years yeah we'll uh we'll make the update video 17 years from now and let you know how they taste again i think it was a good experiment i think it was fun had a great time i think i would like to buy more old candy yes i would love for you guys to suggest things for us to try i want to try um different types of like hard candies because i feel like
