we're going to talk about that actually in a little bit but just an intro to this show um we wanted to I'm like in my life I'm always at this point in the week uh it's Friday we've done all of the the preview stuff we've done all the conversation about the game the the opener is always very well talked about at this point uh but I always want to talk about the game right like it's on top of my mind mind and so we're just going a little little hangout show right it's it's it's a happy hour time uh we don't have to get fully into the nuts and bolts of the matchups and everything just Vibes just Dame 24- 13 I I predicted on uh the site we did our full season uh predictions I got 2710 not Dame in this game where where are you at with uh with Notre Dame I've been kind of all over the map a little bit bit I think this I think this morning I put something out I had 3310 uh I think on the on the the three-hour P we just did the other night uh with you I think I said like 34 13 or something like that I don't have I don't have Texas A&M scoring two uh two offensive touchdowns maybe they score a defensive touchdown I don't know but I'm not going to B that into the mix um on a prediction uh I just I am baffled by the banter surrounding this game especially as it's picked up over the last couple weeks I thought it would get smarter uh from National guys and I guess that's expecting too much um but I'm just trying to figure out like who has the all-americans on the defensive line uh who has the better coaching staff we talked I mean it's just none of this seem none of this seems like it's as dead set as what everyone in the so many around the country want to make it at is this is loss uh and then they bring up the environment and I laugh at that Brendan stat was 10 years I gave one this uh this morning on a little show I did um just over the last five years it was they're 19 and 10 at home against Power Force schools I don't I don't see how that's like so intimidating I get the 102,000 I get the the cult and the chance but someone's gonna have to tell me what I don't like to get something because I don't get a whole lot of the discourse around around this game uh so I yeah I think high 20s to to low teens is a or low 30s to somewhere around there seems like it's about right to me it's it's it's kind of wild um how the like the heat in the crowd right like I I get it it it's a factor right these things are factors in the game uh I mean the home team always has some kind of Advantage right like it's never it's never nothing you know um but I guess I I I'll put it out to you and I'll put it out to everyone else which one do you think is the most overplayed the Heat or the crowd noise which one for you Takes the Cake on this for me it's the heat well no the no I'll change my mind on that one Heat's a huge Factor we flip that he will make you cramp up I mean your star players could be like heat will take you out I I specifically remember 2013 Arizona State and this is why I this is why I'm saying heat matters 2013 no not 2013 Arizona State it was 2014 Arizona State right when we went out to Tempe yes yes it was 2014 they went down I want to say like 35 to three or whatever it was right it was a wild comeback and then yeah I actually got a concussion during that game which was awesome uh but anyways a lot of that talk that week was I had a I had a spot on my forehead for like I don't know two years two and a half yeah oh dude it was it was crazy anyways anyways but the the big talk that week was the desert heat and another name was G you know from South then they're going to shrivel and my point to that just as my point is to like is my point to the heat is how many players from the south is under Day map many players from Florida from Arizona from Texas Georgia like like these guys are not immune to Riley Leonard's from Alabama Josh right so and I think I kind of got proven wrong a little bit in 2014 um only because yes these got it's just about how how your body acclimates through the times so so big changes like going from 70 degrees to 35 degrees I think those big changes definitely affect you but if you have a chance to acclimate so like early season games 100 degrees or whatever which is not going to be I guess on Saturday night I mean it's there's going to be a little bit of cooling going on tonight I don't know how that how hard that's going to hit another Dame especially considering the fact what we're what they're coming from where I'm still sitting in 100 degrees heat and I'm in northwest Ohio right now so I think it'll affect both teams just in the fact of normal hydration cramping uh just making sure your rotations guys aren't getting too winded I mean it's the same old same old yeah um but it's going to affect them crowd noise man it's loud I don't let don't let 2017 Miami dictate every answer that you have in life like everything I've everything I've heard about is that game was unique and that like players yeah the team bus was getting like I don't want to use the word attacked but like bombarded people were throwing things at the team bus like that was like there was a physical safety issue involved with that game it was it was different and what else Greg what else happens during football game sometimes sometimes you just you know you just crap the bed you just don't play well for for whatever there was one player that showed up to that game and that was Quinton Nelson one player from showed up to that game was Quint Nelson and other than that they all just kind of crapped the bed and you could say crowd noise it's not particularly loud in there and the crowd was was hype and wild and it was a dope scene for him but it was just like it's one of those games where you just imploded it happens all the time and it's not just because of crowd noise and again they just kept they would Bank on 2017 Miami the Notre name goes to Virginia Tech and they want to act like Notre name wants to is gonna lose because of a five minute intro before the game that's like the only analysis done is like oh this intro and the crowd like oh remember 2017 Miami it's like I don't understand how this correlates at all so I get it's going to to be loud I get that you know it's going to be a little wild it's culty it's it might look different for some Catholics down there it's very Baptist but uh I don't know man it's I I would I would say the Heat's gonna affect him way more than the crow doise um because you can you can plan a lot there's a game plan for crowd noise right there wasn't in 2017 right there was in 2017 I mean heat heat had gives you like has in a physical effect on your body whereas the crowd noise is just it's just noise right like it's not it doesn't affect how you physically Play It's just loud right um do a silent count right like teams like I mean to your point like they play in college teams play in college station in all kind of weather right whatever it may be uh like you said their their record at home isn't like they're a 500 team period and it's not like they're they're they're they're better than 500 at home but like that's every team right uh but it's not like they have this incred like Notre Dame didn't lose a game at home from like 2017 whenever yeah like and no one talks about from the Georgia game in 2017 until Cincinnati in 2021 yeah long stretch and but no one would accuse Notre Dame stadium of being no one said it like you if you would predict the game they'd be like oh you're walking into this this Lions then because they haven't lost a game in all that no yeah but you're that you get there a winning so yeah you know whatever uh Alex Herman of Notre dmar blogger is in the chat talking about happy Friday the crowd Factor may be real but at least on defense the guys are vets borderline Pros they've been in big environments before uh Howard cross and Riley Mills could be in the NFL right now if they wanted um Xavier Watts could be in the NFL right now if he wanted he decided to come back uh Jack Kaiser sixe Senior right like he's he's of that ilk right so they have key players on their team that they can deal with this stuff right it's it's nothing uh it's nothing new or anything like that he makes F about the pros if only we had well a further point he makes if only we had an OC who had coached big games in SEC before Oh Mike Den Brock's coaching some big games in SEC yeah he knows what he's doing I was gon to say too like weal that's funny we talk about Pros I just wanted to point this out like name me a pro Stadium that's filling 105,000 some people and as well like what's funny is it's it's calmer environments in the NFL even with unlimited booze which we're starting to get anyways in in a lot of college games uh College environments are a lot tougher to play in than uh random sterile NFL stadiums so this is so it is key for see like Jack Kaiser Howard cross Riley Mills Xavier Watts why no one mentions Xavier Watts when talking about this the best player in the best defensive player college football last year continually being overlooked today I pointed it out in the DMS Bill Connelly talking about this A&M's uh receivers versus Notre Dame Secondary did not mention Xavier Watts once once led the nation in and interceptions last year you do not mention him how do you have a job I mean I these are all people I've respected over the years and and like their stuff and generally like his people but the way that Xavier Watts has been pushed into being a ghost uh in this whole preseason is just mindboggling to me yeah like he you know Connelly he wanted to make the point that Notre Dame has some newcomers in the secondary uh you know replacing C way well if you're gonna come talk about the matchup you you should mention that they have F two first team all-americans in their secondary should mention it right like you can you you can say like you know they have to replace cam Hart right they have to replace Thomas Harper they're replacing Thomas Harper with a transfer fair enough right uh you're placing uh cam Hart who's started you know countless games since 2021 regular starter you have Christian Gray coming in who like a lot of fans are excited about but he hasn't actually started in a game so that's okay that's a fair take right that's the one that's the one right and we're yeah that's the one that you get as a as an outside the Notre Dame bubble guy that's the one that you get you should you should mention that Xavier watts is also in the secondary and he was a defensive player of the year like no one would no one would say if the defensive player of the year was playing for the Texas anmd line they wouldn't be like well I don't know it's unknown because they have another All-American on the other side and like I I've heard I've I've heard countless things about Nick scorton all year right like all all offseason it's like he's JJ Watt khil Mack Aaron Donald clone right like that's the talk and like you know that's it like that's just that they're gonna be awesome and that's it like but it's like Notre Dame has first team All American Ben Morrison and not in Defensive Player of the Year Xavier Watson's secondary it's like but we're gonna talk about the other guys well the GU what you sayon makes you say about scon makes makes another Point too hey M did a lot of their like their portal editions the guys that are coming in they were adding to strengths already yeah we not name on the flip what did we need help at Wide Receiver right like it needed a lot of help in that room yeah now this room is as about as good as we've seen it in a while and like so our our weaknesses from last year have been are stronger because of the portal whereas A&M strengths are the same like your defensive line and I don't know I I would think maybe a an offensive coordinator with some experience uh might be figure out some game plans with that regardless of what what you have in your offensive line I mean just because they're young does not mean that no's putting them out there to to die like this isn't like a Joe fan who sees a recruiting ranking and wants the Freshman to play right away kind of a thing these guys are playing because they had earned it in practice so I have a little more faith in that than just some you know oh put him in that's a f star blah blah blah from South Dakota what are your uh what are your expectations for Ry Leonard in this game I'm a little more hype about him now after I talked to you there night uh there you go but I am very cautious like I'm not worried about his he and and I'm not worried about him running um as far as like he's gonna get I think he's gonna get his yards Brendan has been adamant over the last couple weeks about the Mike Elco kryp tonight running quarterbacks we had a big conversation about that the other night um about how they do pretty well um I asked you how many if if Riley Leonard gets over 65 60 65 yards this game you said absolutely I'm confident in that yeah I do want to see with the with these new wide receivers we have nothing right like there wasn't a spring game to to gauge anything off at all yes yeah we don't know and and the Press hasn't seen anything really I mean from we all have to be honest about this this is the least that the pre that the media has seen them in practice situations for at least 40 years because Tim prer said it and he's been covering for almost my entire lifetime yeah so there's not a whole lot to go off of all I re all I can say is watching Leonard last year I was never that impressed with him as a thrower but as a football player which is Big with me he's I think he's a really good football player which means he's going out there and he's given everything he has running the ball leading the team doing what needs to be done um Precision passing I'm I'm GNA have to see it first and I don't know how much we need of that I mean maybe we maybe we'll need a bunch maybe we won't need quite as much as I think you know it'll work in with the scheme and they'll be Guys open so I am a little just I want to see a little bit but first uh but I think everything else around him um I'm lifted you've lifted me uh over the last week or so yeah Chief Brody uh doesn't trust his accuracy on deep deep balls I I it's a fair it's a fair concern to have right they they didn't do it I mean they just didn't do it at Duke very often right um it was something I pointed out when they when Notre Dame signed him right like they just there's not a lot of examples of him throwing deep because they didn't they didn't have the type of offense that like stretched teams vertically and so he's not going to have the sophistication there right so it's it's a concern but but does he have the arm for it he definitely has the arm that that's not the question I mean people reason well that gets to some points I've had before about the wide receivers better wide receivers make your deep ball like it's not just if can the quarterback hit you on a dime 45 yards down the field can your receiver adjust to that ball in the air and what is he do you know is he running a post instead instead of hitting a flag route you know I mean like there's all sorts of things that these wide receivers can make a quarterback better at a deep ball because there's I mean let's be honest go back and look at all these schools in college football right and you'll have some really good deep passers from quarterbacks that won't even make it in the in the CFL and so a lot of it just comes down to like are you rece are you in line with your receivers um you know Jimmy Clawson best deep ball thrower we've ever seen in her name am I right yes didn't have a whole lot of but he only had a couple wide receivers he could do that with right he wasn't throwing a deep ball to Robbie Paris uh but he was throwing a deep ball to Golden Tate a deep you know so it it makes a difference about who you're throwing the ball to and I think the wide receiver room is GNA help with that manner um and stuff that he just didn't have at Duke so I I I just like I took a lot away from like when I was you know watching Georgia Tech play Florida State like I thought Haynes King was like a really good example of what Riley ner can be like even if he isn't the greatest Thor like of what you like Hayes King made some pretty big time throws in that game uh but it was definitely like his legs that made things happen for them and kept drives going and he escaped and you know uh avoided losses and he was able to hurt Florida State you know just being a football player right and I think that's part of the thing with with Riley Leonard is like man this kid like he's a football player now you know and look he's big and he's uh he's got a strong arm right uh he's got those physical attributes it's just like can you can you make the throws can you do enough quarterback things to where the football player in you is is that much more elevated right we're just G have to see that right because we just there's nothing we have we have nothing to base it off of with the with this current crap of wide receivers line within this offense everything we just kind of like rolling the dice and letting it go on uh you know when we sit down to go to watch and play College Station or& College Station because we have nothing nothing to base off Alex Herman says again if he can get the ball to love Faison Evans great house Etc we can we can make things happen putting my faith in Den Brock until he proves me wrong yeah like they you know he has options to get the ball out get the ball in space to some of these guys and let them work and let them create things right let them be football players you know it's not just solely dependent on you know Riley Leonard having to fit the ball into Windows right getting the ball in space and uh and things of that nature um what are your what are your feelings go ahead I got a question for you do you remember what we were screaming and yelling about back in 2021 after the FL State game went down and we were going through tackle after tackle after tackle yeah it was like like rpos get the ball out quick exactly can we get a ball to somebody in space yeah and have them make a play like small midlevel schools are doing this everywhere and yeah putting up fights and we were struggling at do it we were struggling and not and we were not doing that do you think that would be more of the game plan with this with this young left side that we're going to have is a little quicker getting you know getting getting some shots in the guys in space trying to make them make a play you know in space one-on-one six seven yards you know from the line of scrimmage yeah I think I think for sure like deemphasize those linemen being able to you know hold on and pass protection right like deemphasize that and then emphasize their ability to move forward and actually move people right like Sam Pendleton I don't know how good he is at uh that pass protection but I think his strength is going to be trying to move people and in the Run game and getting on people's bodies and and uh you know tossing people around like that's his strength right so look you deemphasize the weakness and emphasize the strength like that's what coaching is I think that's the sort of thing that Den Brock can do and thankfully like the problem with the 22 team you know like early in the year you had uh you know Lorenzo Styles right like everyone remembers the cow game when they try to get him the ball he drops yeah like he's dropping the ball right and and Avery Davis is hurt and you know you just you just didn't have those guys right the 21 team kind of the same deal where you know you just didn't have that well they weren't emphasizing that to begin with I think they had a different team they they they had planned for a certain type of team just like all together and once they went to it they were wildly successful right and that's why that team was so enhanced by Tyler Buckner being able to move around because it's like it's another thing you it's another one of those situations where you're just deemphasizing the thing you can't do and emphasizing the thing you can I think that's what Notre Dame's going to do um and luckily you have the skill guys to uh to do that um vamos Irish with an important question uh what are we drinking tomorrow Texas beers spicy Margaritas where are you at with this Josh so we got to ask this question on the when I had you on the the show there night I never answered it so I put out the and the anti preview today and uh I think the I think you're people are expecting the cliche of margaritas because I I did the tacos I did the tacos for the eats right yeah how could you now it's been nothing but Taco talk you gota go tacos but instead of going Margarita tequila we're going mojito and R oh so we're we're we're going we're going down we're going down to Cuba and pulling out one of the best drinks ever made that's mojito so so you what a refreshing a cool refreshing drink uh Mojitos all day long uh Chief Brody says Coors Banquet I I think the the idea of a banquet there is I I think that's tremendous that's first of all it's a great word to use uh Mojitos let's go let's go uh yeah that that's that's a great one um I I have a solid answer for beer and whatever beer you like is the beer you should drink I will never try to like like I will never beer shame someone even the people that like I don't like craft like snobs but I won't shame them like that's your thing man and beer beer is a very personal choice I like paps I like paps before hipsters like paps I like Keystone Light I like Rolling Rock I like Budweiser like I like cheap American Beer because that's what I started drinking when I was 15 so what 46 I'm 46 now those six have done okay for for me they do it all right now I like I like a little you know I like a little something different here and there and I have no problem drinking it but I'm not going to sit down and drink like 15 16 of like raspberry stout alses or whatever the I don't even know what the hell it is I'm not into all that but I'm not going to sit down and drink all those just like I won't drink like 16 like seltzers like you got to throw me in like a warm natural light to like cleanse the pallet like a couple of them yeah Irish Iris gordian not says I liked PBR before hipst a very hipster I know it listen all I'll say all I'll say is the first time like I will give I won't give my dad the dad PBR story although it's fun but I started drinking that like my sophomore year in high school because you showed up a party and a guy just showed up with it he's like sixpack three bucks and everybody else is drinking natural light I don't know why we I my kids should be seeing this talking about drinking a software I got a software in icebo right now and I'd kill her if she was drinking anyways and that's what like oh so when you're young too that's just like it's they're totally right advertising works that's the beer you go to I know I drink like four of those at that party other night I can drink four or five more of this party so yeah it was it's that's a totally hipster you're right you're not wrong uh Irish gordion not is just on fire i i homebrewed a 9% tangerine logger and I'm cutting it with 50% lemonade to make a bomb Shandy tried the first one an hour ago Dude he he is on another level like he is talk about midseason form over here this okay so does how many children did you have because I think once you get past one this is way too much time time in a game played they played in their uh inaugural opening night or opening day game yesterday how did it go well they had no they had a well yesterday was still a scrimmage but it was a game game oh he played like five plays wasn't were they bangers were they bangers no I was pretty upset with the coaching staff for not he didn't play any offense um which I don't know how to feel about that or not because he does he did have the touchdown P catch had a nice 30 like a 38 yard catch and run in the scrimmage well Len if he's not gonna play offense we got to get him out of that 88 bro and it was against a nemesis of his it was against a nemesis for this other school who's twice as fast as he is like at least twice as fast what however reason he got it anyways no so the one yesterday he probably only got like four four or five plays in on defense but the offense was running a freaking T like they were coming straight out of the te which was gorgeous I was like very appreciative of CT formation but he's playing corner and he's playing 15 20 yards out in the flat and I'm way too far away I'd look like a complete [ __ ] if I just start yelling at him to like move in yeah but none of the coaches he's right in front of the coaching staff none of them are saying anything I'm like what are we doing here boys like they're running everything between the tackles why is he why you have him camped out out here you're not saying anything to him I'm just guessing this is where you want him at uh so I don't know I don't know he's he is enjoying it a lot more than he I think he thought he was going to because he kind of didn't want to play this year and we just told him like that's not acceptable in this house like football AC cross country pick one and why would you go R why would you just want to run that's just the dumbest thing who want wants to run yeah uh so football it was he's enjoying himself Dylan starts next week high school we lost to a state semi-finalist uh last Friday pretty bad tonight we got a team that we beat last year but it was the dirtiest damn team I've ever seen in my life uh I be dirty so who knows how it's going to get how rough it's GNA get tonight 100 degree heat temper flaring home opener the the the tensions are high Josh tensions are high uh dirty team got to get it done the the defensive coordinator tried benching the starting cornerback so like on Monday he he he went after him hard on film on Sunday then on Monday he uh he benched him and and uh but his dad was telling me this and I'm like it's a ploy like there's no way that the that he means business like he just you know forever reason he's trying to prove something to him and he wants him to do it during the week he'll get his job back well he did but it was like the next day like there was this big TI then the next day he just like kind of hand it back to him without any like real work so what are you do like what are you doing here I don't quite understand that and on top of it all and I'm I know you're gonna be with me on this I'm tired of Corners catching [ __ ] tired of Corners catching crap for linebackers getting sucked inside and you're having to take on two lead blockers and a run and a running back coming your way and all this space and you're 117 pounds what are you supposed to do you know like how much how much can you do as these linebackers who AR getting yelled at are completely sucked inside and you're just kind of like so I had a lot of empathy for this particular player over like kind of the stuff that he was catching crap for U so I'm excited to see him tonight get at it yeah uh Andrew call Andrew Callen says shots fired Greg Josh says running is for Chumps yeah I tell you what uh I I I wouldn't I wouldn't have not done football in favor of cross country I I'll tell you that um that's a different kind of running like track a different kind of track is different track's about explosiveness and Glory cross country is just like how can I make my mind numb yeah and just run for no reason can I force Gump this long enough no one wants that Vos Irish says uh if we get subscribe over 50% Greg will race Jamie your uh your your game Day meal uh yeah it's not Bor Bor is great too I love like we got people that'll go down to Kentucky and go hunt bore and bring home and put on a spit but I've never heard of anyone smoking a bore head he trapped it that's and trapping it too like those go shoot him but this is this is like some like Kobe beef type stuff going on here like the special anyways uh here's what's here's what's funny about me at 61 265 270 pounds with three kids and being married and doing what I do Game Day meals are like the worst meals of my life usually like they're very rushed like I live an hour and a half away from South Bend so on home games I am you know flying up there I'm eating that whatever's at a tailgate that someone wants to give me I'll be eating you get if you get up to the Press Box it's it's not good food it's not good and then after the game they bring up the worst Pizza known to man and Papa John's uh sorry if that was a sponsor yours Greg but they're just terrible uh so I don't really eat that great on home game days game days a little better but it's just like I need cooler weather like when it's hot I really don't care what I'm eating I just don't want to be hungry if it's cooler weather I'll have pots of whatever going on there's a great seafood stew I like to do you know you just do you know Sketti and meatballs I make great great freaking meatballs but I don't get too too crazy with it uh just because I don't have the time yeah I I it's hard now like because it's I'm kind of working right during this time right there's a lot going on so like and I have to I'm not like I'm I'm not working working but I there are like I do have to track the game in a way I can't like watch like a fan anymore um plus the kids like it's just difficult if if I was if I was yeah if I was like just just Fanning it out and I didn't have to worry about like a postgame show or anything then I'd probably do like sliders um I make a version of of uh sweet potato chips where it's like I I I dice them up and I or I slice them up and I put the some olive oil on them and I put uhh sea salt on there and then I bake them and they get nice and you if there's a certain kind of way you bake them they get kind of nice and crispy but also they're little parsley on those too not parsley mostly because anything green on it the kids won't eat it so you can't put any green stuff on there so uh it the kids will eat that so they can get crispy but also still fluffy and stuff I'll do sliders um the kids like their tots uh probably some mac and cheese that's probably what I would do if uh if if if it wasn't like a situation where I actually had to work and pay attention uh but man I I can't I can't beat the B's head I'll tell you that and I'll tell you rather than just looking it up in their app like you can just look it right up on your I got three weather apps on my phone right I can just look up col of station anytime I want if I do a weather story on the game and I do it every every single week some weeks the weather means more or not whether it's rain uh you know hurricanes big heat but anytime it gets a little above the the the average or the mean for what you would think would be normal people lose their minds and I'm here for it I'm absolutely 100% here for it um and I feel like you know maybe it's some of it's my fault it gets fanned a little bit because it gets I mean that's it' be one of the bigger stories of the week and it's nothing other than just hey I saw this on acuweather um but yeah it's what 85 86 is that you're be down there yeah we're good it's fine you'll be fine uh Texas Chris says medical research shows it takes approximately two weeks to acclimate to extreme heat so we're doing medical research this do it justice because it's actually a very well researched article but he's like he did he talked to like some some nuclear physicist or whatever it is like talking about the effect of noise on on the know 46 years of life there's a handful of programs that I have gravitated towards as far as if they are on I am watching them and I am definitely rooting for them in a lot of situations A&M has always been one of those teams because I hate Texas so much like the entire State and then their Flagship University the Longhorns I've always gravitated towards A&M that you know and this goes back to being old like the the black the Thanksgiving Black Friday or whatever it was uh Texas Texas m games that's always on right that's a that was a national kind of celebration of college football was that game and I don't know remember ever rooting for Texas in that game it's always been& M&M there's a few other handful of programs uh but they're good I think they're good people I've conversed with a few online here and there they seem to me Tennessee it's funny Tennessee and Georgia fans will tell you each one of them are trash but I have always I've my interactions with Georgia and Tennessee people are similar when they've been freaking awesome like they've been great fans you could talk a little trash it's no big deal I mean and give take uh but have been really appreciative of like the stuff that we do uh Notre name as a whole you know to the to the system so I just I it does not surprise me that you got some A&M people in here giving you a thumbs up I think they're uh May Copo to Texas Chris he's he's actually an utter Dame fan um but I just assumed the Texas part but it's fine you know may cop to him everyone else all the others in here have been great so uh I I that's like this that's like the Bo Jackson cheat in that game it's was mroy so yep uh Matthew Patterson uh A&M is a cult though yeah but like yes if you're not in a cult then you can just you can you can admire their uniforms right there's nothing wrong with that nothing wrong with admir don't like any of their alternates so I am I am disappointed that they're doing the all black yeah because I don't like any of their alternates I like their their their basic home stuff um but I am curious I do you know is if they're gonna go all black why would Notre Dame not go all white in this game do the do the Western Good Guys bad guys thing black white no no no in their in this game they're doing uh they're doing uh White helmets maroon Jersey white pant like they did no no no no no no they're doing they're doing the good jerseys they're wearing what they did against uh Alabama in 2012 I think the Manzel year are you sure I'm almost positive Carter Carter tweeted about it all right because I I saw I saw something with their black the the black uniforms because they really made the SEC logo like like stick out on those things I mean they might be doing it for another game I think someone said they're they're doing it for LSU yeah Zach Davis said they're doing it for LSU uh White helmets and maroon jerseys for I don't like the white helmets that's that's a shame you don't like that I think it's nice and look you know I like I like their normal look A&M's Twitter posted their game day uniform today uh Adrien Müller says uh who appears to be & black is yeah maybe I have a it's a Brian we're still linked to Brian Kelly in some way I suppose so maybe that's where I maybe that's where I got confused he's such a big part of my life Adrien meller um I regardless of what you think about this game I'm curi put in the chat how you feel about uh A&M's season in the uh in the uh in the SEC this year because I I think you know this game is is a is in a way a good matchup for Notre Dame just because it's at home and because your biggest strength is against Notre Dame's biggest weakness um so that that kind of this game aside I'm kind of curious as to your uh I guess your Vibe of about what you think A&M's going to be this year because I don't honestly I don't really know what to make of them right Josh like I I kind of said I think it was on I think it was on with you guys uh about like why are they ranked and it's not it's not be like I can see why someone would think they'll end up being good right but I I can't really make out why like like people are like oh like I I think the big thing about this game on a national level is people talk about uh Notre Dame in a way like they're overrated and they shouldn't be ranked this high and maybe they're like in the that maybe they're like closer to the 20s than they should be like the top 10 right and it's like okay but like I I I wonder why A&M doesn't get that same conversation you know like because especially the way that things have gone down over the over the years they haven't good I do think that they're a better team than their record most years though um I the problem is last year wasn't a one-off it was a second in a row it it was rough uh I think this will be case this year though where I think their record they will be better than their record um but it won't matter much because we're still probably talking maybe fourbe at least four losses um if you throw throw the ND game into it they just they can never get over that little pum in consistently and yeah people I mean A&M isn't uh they're not getting the noise that Notre Dame does because they're not Notre Dame I'm not I'm not trying to say that arrogantly I'm just saying like Notre Dame gets that gets that grief about being overrated because they're Notre Dame A&M's not catching that grief Texas does because they're Texas right so like A&M is kind of immune to that or they don't people don't automatically go that route um but why are they ranked I don't know U they do have a nice defensive line and I am not sure about anything else like I'm their offensive line Brendan will say that religiously they have one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC the last two years what changes with a new coaching staff things will change but how much does it get better um is one thing so we'll definitely have to wait and see but like the reports coming out and I've been following Carter for a long time they don't seem all that encouraging Nei like it's not terrible but it's not like real encouraging if I'm an A&M fan um so I don't know but not Dame was gonna catch that grief because it's Notre Dame it's just odd like like in 2015 Notre Dame was they finished the regular season 10 and two and you know had they they I mean they were ranked fifth prior to their last second loss to Stanford that Stanford team went on to win the Rose Bowl I think it was so that was a good Stanford team uh Notre Dame went 10-2 finished 10 and3 they lost to Ohio State in the Festa Bowl 2016 they were bad right they went four and eight uh in 201 17 they started the season unranked right and obviously I think people felt like well they they they're gonna have a good offensive line and you know Brandon wimbush and on and on and on right he knew it a little better it would be better than 16 you knew it would be better than 16 but also like they were they started season unranked and I think that was basically fair right and so like you know A&M goes five and seven seven and six and it's like they lost they lost Evan Stewart uh they lost the uh I can't remember the other D lineman's name he was good though he was a good player uh but they lost him they they lost they lost a whole bunch of other players like key players um they lost Ruben Owens and and and people are acting like Notre Dame is the team that is the overrated one like it just it's a weird it's weird narrative wise not necessarily like on a on a game matchup wise uh I just I just take it as and I this is just the natural flow of what happens in the preseason I don't care if Notre Dame was ranked seventh or 9th or 13th or 16th they're going to be called overrated and it's going to be easy for people to poke holes because Notre Dame has not done their part as far as like big consistently win big games win a freaking BCS bowl game what new year six bowl game whatever it is those things matter to people that are talk that saying those things may not matter to us right you know right now about it because it doesn't really matter but it matters what people are talking about them in a conversation and so regardless of what's true and what's not no one's no one other than a another Dame fan is going to correct you if you say M name is overrated they'll be like H yeah bro overrated every year it's just it's an easy thing it's like it's like walking into a big crowd and chanting USA maybe you shouldn't be chanting that because someone just fell from a Podium and broke their neck and it's not the right place to do it people but no one's gonna tell you to stop chanting and supporting the troops you know what I mean yeah um to get back to Adrien meller uh I asked him what his feeling was uh considering that our quote unquote harded games are at home fan base is feeling good nine and three is where he stands and playoffs in next couple years um it'll be interesting to track right um like I think I think for a lot of coaches uh and this is kind of speaking of Mike Elco like there's a lot of coaches where it's one thing to take a bad team and make the competitive like he did at Duke and it's another thing to take a team and make them like Elite right and this is frankly like a a fair question for like Marcus Freeman like I think they've been good right like I think Notre Dame's been a good team you know um but like they haven't been an elite team by any stretch and like there's no evidence that he can take them to be an elite team I think the evidence is like Mike demock has been an elite coach um I think Al golden showed himself to be an elite defensive coordinator so you feel like he surrounded himself with people who had a have done it and B have done it at kind I mean the highest levels right like Al golden was Contin to do it yeah he was a high level he was a high level uh defensive coach in in the NFL right um and so you know they've turned out really good units both of them not at the same time obviously they just started coaching together but um I think it's kind of an open question about you know who who has the coaching advantage in this game you know um from a head coach standpoint so that'll be interesting to track like this is a pretty big this is a pretty big narrative game for like Marcus Freeman right um it's uh it's and it doesn't even matter if if Texas A&M only wins five or six games this year none of that matters because he needs the win narrative moving forward uh if you can see my hand shops here moving forward uh for this season like it doesn't doesn't matter how good or about badm is gonna be he has to get this big road win hostile crowd win off the you know gotta get that monkey off the back um and you could do that this weekend and then and then move forward um and there's not you know this there's not lot not much meet on this bone on the schedule I've ranted about it for months for a year I've ranted about the schedule but this game right here none of it's going to matter two months from now how good it and is if you keep winning but you have to win this game you absolutely have to win this game yes um Adrien Muller asks will Notre Dame travel well to Agy land uh generally they travel everywhere well um there's plenty in Texas definit I me there's yeah definitely I mean any big any big you know State like Texas is gonna have a lot of Notre Dame fans like Dallas is loaded with Notre Dame Notre Dame alums Notre Dame fans I don't I I can't really compare it because I don't know like what happens when Alabama goes to A&M like I don't I I like I I don't fores see like some sort of quote unquote takeover where it's like this is Georgia yeah or Cincinnati at Notre Dame stadium in 21 which I still consider it don't care what Jude says that was a takeover renan and I saw that that was too much red in that Stadium yeah I don't think it'll show out like that but there will be a decent amount of notame fans there and I hope you treat them well agie fans I I my assumption is they will based on this this podcast uh and just how it's usually well usually it's like you got like Georgia was a fun example because they got the red carpet thrown out for their complete takeover right and they were just so appreciative of everything yes so when Notre D went down there that was a big remember that was a a big story about that was n d fans were shown this they made Georgia itself the school itself made sure to tell their fans hey they were awesome to us up there return the favor and for the most most uh things that I had heard back that you know that happened so while I may complain about Notre Dame Stadium being a little too friendly uh you know not saying be jerks or throwing cups at at opposing fans like that but they're a little too friendly it does you do get the return favor from a lot of other schools save like a Miami or a Michigan with their classes cheating lying uh scandalous liars cheaters uh nonsense they got going on up there so yeah I I think the thing with like every game that involved some sort of takeover for under Dame was against the team that was red you know like there's something about red it doesn't travel there either was it a common game yeah like it's just it there there's something about red popping that is different from like like no one talks about Notre Dame takeovers of like the Coliseum when they come to LA right but it's always which happens yes which it's it's every single time but like no they everyone's wearing blue or some people were wearing green like there's not one uniform color that everyone's wearing and so it doesn't if you're on the road if you're a fan on the road I've said this for years if you are going to a way game as a another name fan you have to be wearing the color green unless you are going to East Lancing or to Aon and then you switch it up to the blue yeah but if you are going to a non- green school on the road it should be travel greens should be yeah there's there's nothing better than see and a lot of fans will do that and you'll see big patches of them uh in opposing stadiums and it's a nice to see those are the Warriors that came that came out to uh you know to help so uh I you know the thing too about those takeovers that people just don't talk about enough is first of all Nebraska is a a team that tra has traveled well for decades and decades and decades anyway yeah because there's nothing in Nebraska but corn they love that team they'll go anywhere Georgia they never traveled out of the southeast their fans don't get to go anywhere they were so appreciative just to get the hell out of the southeast and get somewhere and they set up the Braves game at Wrigley Field I mean it was like it was all like a a whir storm uh so they wanted to so they were all ready to go do that and then Cincinnati you're they're at a year where they can go to the playoffs it's got a fairly big alumni base and you're only you know five and a half hours away it was an easy game to travel up to so you kind of got hit with some with some hard ones there the Nebraska was probably the most deflating because you would you would have thought you could have kept that inhouse a little more and no the other two R Georgia especially makes sense but it's disappointing as well though most deflating for me was Cincinnati because it was like don't let this happen and they let it happen you know it Happ they were they were look it was dumb the DJ was still playing music after we lost the the stadium was still playing music which what are you doing and their fans are all celebrating Brendan and I were appalled we like somebody shut pull the plug like pull the damn plug this is ridiculous like they should not be dancing around uh you know these seats here um that was that was rough that was rough not loudy not what you want um last one from aan Müller me personally I've always had a ton of respect for Notre Dame Traditions Etc we've overall a pretty respectful fan base uh as evidenced by uh everyone's Behavior this week that has been uh a model for all fans uh in these situations Josh uh we're going to end it there thank you for being here buddy I know you've got some uh some duties you've got some high
