Hello friends this is Dave herwitz executive editor at classicstoday.com here with random reviews from the Overflow room moving in Reverse alphabetical order now we just finished doing a big clump of verpy and now we have a couple smaller clumps coming up first um one devoted entirely to Fritz Riner yeah Riner you remember him oh my goodness was he terrific with Chicago mostly and first we have this this was the great conductors of the 20th century series um on Emi um that was licensed from all kinds of different places and what we get are let's see Beethoven the coil land Overture brahm's piano conter number two with Emil gels uh Mozart's Lind Symphony mlon Scaro from A Midsummer Night's Dream nothing special there uh bram's tragic Overture uh vogner's Dawn and sigree try Journey Bart talk Hungarian sketch is only one sketch the swin herds Dance all you swin herds get up there and start tapping your toes uh strauss's till oil and spegel very exciting is wonderful uh rael's lbbo de and finally elore bruo um this this Elm ruo I think is his earlier one with Carol Bryce not the later one with lean tetin price let me just make sure here um but I'm pretty sure that's what it is in Pittsburgh right let's take take a look shall we uh there we go elore bruo yes Carol Bryce with the Pittsburgh Symphony from 1946 it was really kind of a a Riner specialty that piece so that's lovely to have um you know all this stuff has been you know issued on other labels and things that was licensed from various sources but uh there we go so that's Riner but the real the real fun stuff the Riner fun stuff that I was very cleverly hiding behind this you see it was like this well there's that look stuff behind it and what we have are the live Chicago Symphony issues um that they they did under Henry Fogle when he was their music director and started getting this stuff this is from the archives it was volume one and volume 11 of Chicago's live stuff live performances never before released and now they call them actual performances from the 1957 and 58 SE seasons for Chicago Symphony and Riner now what do we get here here we have let's see O A Baro the Ure to Ben venudo chelini from 57 December 8 the Von Williams Talis Fantasia very slow performance almost 19 minutes yummy and really really beautiful um shinberg ver Clara kned from November 7th 1957 vogner's over renzi from 58 and schuman's second Symphony from 57 so there those Riner bits Riner collectors will be drooling if they don't already have them of course they've been pirated or something from somewhere and then on this one wait a moment what do we got we have oh yes Oar the Overture to massian massian yellow massian yellow is the is the real you know well it's the it's the other name of La muet dep portii that is the mute girl of portie and one of the reasons why um it's called massanello is because you know everybody finally figured out that having an opera about a mute girl is really kind of one of the silliest things anybody ever thought of um it's a fun Opera I mean you know the volcano erupts at the end I think and everyone falls into it and dies or something like that but um or that maybe LJ I don't know I get all those French Grand operas confused but um it's a big deal it was a huge deal in its day a very famous opera and so famous that you know most people couldn't deal with the fact that it was called the mute girl from poriche was not going to bring him into the opera house so they changed it to Massa Mass massan Yellow was the male lead there you go then we've got beros the from Romeo and Juliet um these are from let me see this was 58 from 59 um the the Romeo alone and the gr fet sh Capulet yeah the ball music mouri the prel toan uh delus Prelude to hermalin look at the range of repertoire he did I mean isn't this cool we never get to hear you we don't realize just how much music some of these conductors did just by their discographies which are so much more limited to things that people at record labels actually thought they could sell God forbid um and then we've got let's see a Vagner Prelude to act one of low and Gren yeah who cares vurnon six pieces for orchestra Opus 6 yeah uh Beethoven's eighth so that's fun uh Beethoven Leonor over number two DBC newaj from nocturns only newage that's weird that's really oh was from it was from television so there must have been some timing constraint uh another till oil and Spiegel about a minute slower than the last one in the great conductor series that we just talked about and last but not least Bart talk violin kto number two from October 24th 19 57 with your hoodie menu in viin so those are fun see that's one of the reasons you have an overflow room so you can save all this stuff so keep on listening friends thanks for joining me take care
