this week two counties are being sprayed with pesticides to prevent the uh prevent Triple E both Worcester and Plymouth Counties have areas at high or critical risk for infection wbz's Laura hay is in Plymouth tonight Laura what can you tell us about the plan there well the State Department of Public Health has okayed the start of significant spraying in communities across our area prioritizing the places that are most at risk for Triple E that includes Plymouth County where I am now this in particular is a very uh heavily wooded part of our area there are a lot of ponds and parks and baseball fields places mosquitoes really like to hang out so again that's spraying uh is going to start Monday according to officials they will be conducting take a look at this list uh aerial spraying across Plymouth County and truck mounted spraying across Worcester County so if you are in those areas just be heads up for that the spraying will take place in the overnight hours and Parks will be closed during those times now again this spraying it is uh weather dependent so they're going to take it day by day but again focusing on the more at risk areas the state taking this really seriously after an 80-year-old man in Worcester was infected with Triple E the first infection this year so neighbors now on high alert there's a lot of wooded areas there 365 ponds so that is bug producing especially for mosquitoes so there's a there's a lot of pond still water and wooded areas I think it's a little unsettling but I do think that if it's going to help and prevent somebody from getting sick then it's probably worth it several communities in our area have been uh raised to high or critic iCal risk level for Triple E officials are asking everyone to take their own precautions including of course using a bug repellent in Plymouth Laura hyley WBC news
