guys I think we're going to lose our minds tonight I think we might just do it because even though the New York metropolitans heading into game two uh there three game set in AZ against the snakes we've all seen the writing on the wall you dominate with an 8 to3 victory in game one just like you did in San Diego you're losing game two with no offense to show whatsoever and your starter doesn't have it however the Mets rewrite the script they rallied back in a ball game down four runs and little did we know Edwin Diaz comes in to blow it yet again Corbin Carroll with his sixth home run now in his past 11 or 12 games with a Grand Slam in the eighth inning the ball game was over from there the Mets lose this one in dramatic fashion thank you all so much for chiming into the latest New of a three-game set against the aizone the Diamondbacks won the Hest team in all the national league and two the ability to do it after down four runs how can you not be ecstatic about that but in the most msian way possible the story of their season in certain aspects then the story of their bulp and all year lawn was full-fledged before our very eyes yet again the Mets cannot get out of their own way we see them shut down by Joe Musgrove we see them shut down because of a lack of hitting with Runners and scoring position left on base and then budo and Diaz both give up meatballs of home runs to profar to freaking what's his name Jackson Merill who very well could be the Rookie of year leading the way over Paul schemes now yes that isn't really all that hot of a take if you guys have been P paying attention to Jackson Merrill's greatness all year for the Padres and in a night where the Padre's I believe fell short there against the Cardinal I could be wrong the Mets too fall short after the Atlanta Braves succeed after the Chicago Cub succeed the Cubs could Leap Frog the Mets in a day or so from now just like that after being out of nowhere in the playoff pitcher what is the upside here the Mets know that the season's not over yet they can easily really flip things around here they secure a couple victories the Braves get a couple losses eventually when they match up later on in the month of September things can really be important but the problem is the Mets who were in a wild card spot around a month ago not even are now trying to claw their ways back and now they're facing a Braves team ahead of them that has the easiest strength of schedule among all eligible teams in Major League Baseball specifically the national league for the remainder of the Season while the Mets have a far from easy schedule that we see there in the month of September I know strength of schedule does not mean everything that's far from it but for an Atlanta brav team that's without aunia that's without Riley and that has been without plenty key Acquisitions this season because of a lack of performance now with guys like Jorge CER Ramon luran mon others heating up they're going on a run now against lesser opponents will the Braves be able to be lessen before it's too late we will find out but in the interim the Mets continue to do themselves absolutely no favors when you got a rally of an offensive outing a tremendous one by the Mets in this matchup you got absolutely nothing there from your Bullpen from your top relever literally your most important relever in this Bullpen the one guy you're throwing 20 mil a year 100 Mil overall to I get it it's his first season back I also don't care in this situation he gave up seven home runs this season already Edwin I can understand that you have dealt with a lot this year between a [ __ ] suspension I agree was BS between also the injuries and the ailments that you have endured no L the meatballs of the sliders got to stop Edwin we've seen this plenty of times this ain't 2019 nor is this 20121 when you're pitching in non save you got to be better than this tight ball games I understand you're facing a red hot Corbin Caroll and I would even argue that you were better off clearly allowing Corbin Carroll to get the Barry Bond's treatment of a walk because it would have been better to tie the ball game maybe you get out of that jam still tied heading to the ninth inning but no instead Edwin Diaz rightfully has to challenge Corbin Carroll and Corbin Carroll simply makes him pay Carroll who was got off of the first half of the season I've been telling you guys for the past month now Corbin Carroll has been one of the hottest hitters has been leading the way for the Dbacks throughout their run and I would not be shocked if he torched Mets in this series and this was yet the prime example of exactly that war the Mets had a rally four runs down in this ball game they leave it up to Edwin Diaz who cannot secure the four out save to the point where it was as ugly as a grand slam because Edwin could not secure that final out base is loaded two out would they mess that he started himself when as to surprise absolutely nobody a lead off Walkers were kicked off the eighth inning something we was we saw with multiple Mets pitchers today and something that came back to bite them time and time again so as we break down this ball game and then we'll get into the latest updates of Mets everybody my question every one of you watching live on a replay right now as a Mets currently stand at as I mentioned four games out of a playoff spot with 29 or so to play what is your confidence level in the Mets making playoffs this season after getting absolutely cooked in the eighth inning by the see I'd rather the Mets go um go than um us this year if we're not winning seven straight then why even bother says he okay I don't know where you were leaning with that I'd say a solid negative two out its head we can make the postseason says Jimmy so Jimmy believes the Mets odds making postseason are now in the negative this is why I will say to each and every one of you who firmly believe for the Mets at least that the season is done the season isn't done until it's done and for all the fans that are writing them off right now now we all know how much just a week of baseball can drastically change things if you catch one team slipping and one team on a heater we all know how simple that is does that mean the Mets are guaranteed to make playoffs far from it however until they find themselves truly out of the hunt I am going to go only as far as to say that maybe tonight was a nail in the coffin not the final nail but tonight I will argue definitely could be a stepping stone that we look back and say yeah this was a moment to down the stretch in the season that was one of the first big Nails in the coffin to really wrap up the Mets and their 2024 push for playoffs that's how much this grand slam of a eighth inning bomb from Corbin Carol off of Edwin Diaz stains and that is how much my frustration level is currently at a 12 out of 10 at bare minimum for a Mets team that did everything right in their power to Rally back in this one they did what they need to do tremendous effort by the offense after being down for zip is never an easy task to overpower and get into this one it's done War your fult any fans calling me a full that's completely fine all I will say is that the Mets do find themselves in postseason play I don't want to hear a [ __ ] from any of those fans because you're the same Fairweather ones that are going to write the team off prematurely and then act like oh nothing ever happen when they do make playoffs in the end I just don't find myself in that category I'm always going to be pushing for this team not only just because I'm a content creator but just simply put because my Phantom is going to let me do that and the Mets have done enough this season to show us their ability to get out of heater however their inability to win consistently Beyond a couple games in the month of August has not only been their demise greatly as of late but could be the demise now of their season sadly but let's get into breaking down this ball game now everybody let's get into in my opinion the biggest takeaways for sure there were a couple they don't have a reliable closer in tight situations I'm so sadle well here's what I will say even if Edwin Diaz is basically swiss cheese and is not the reliable reliever that they need him to be for the remainder of this season there is still an ability for the Mets to get quality outs from certain relievers that maybe aren't even in the organization yet and we're going to expand on that in our second segment of Tonight Show which I will then cut out to my replay VI so we post as an individual video cuz I know you guys will have far more interest in some of the players I'm going to break down that'll be posted tomorrow then breaking down at 8 to5 Metropolitan loss but on the offensive end and on the standouts here we saw the Diamond Backs get up early in this matchup Luis srino just didn't have his best stuff tonight that we saw and what I will give credit for sevy is that even when he doesn't have his best stuff he's still striking out everyone their mother so you're always getting something good usually out of a sevy start even if he isn't providing the length or the quality with this fast ball that you're looking for as he was barreled hard pretty early in this ball game and it began all the way that we saw in the first inning as Lee G former FR now F sadly rips a RBI single his first big hit against his former Club this season after taking some time with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels in which he's played against the Mets with both those respective teams this season D backs get up to an early one- nothing lead that we saw there so surely would the Mets respond no they would not we would see Eduardo Rodriguez rrod go throughout the first four Innings of scoreless hitless baseball to give you some cont on the Mets lack of offense they pounced in bunches but up until those bunches they had nothing to show show throughout the first four Innings again mind you the offense I want to give a huge tip of the cap for tip of the cap Diamond Backs they're the better team we all know that right now that's why they simply haven't lost more than seven games over the past month plus but for this Mets team for them to Rally was beautiful and to see them not only lose this game but lose after having that four-run L rally leads me to a frustration level that's beyond 10 out of 10 and has me just absolutely sweating bullets and not only dismay frustration but the reality that this could be the beginning of the end for the Mets if they're not going to fix things and fast they need to secure a series win tomorrow if you lose a series against the Diamondbacks even if you take two out of three against the wh Soxs in which they somehow I believe walked off Andrew Chaffin and the Texas Rangers tonight yes you heard that correctly at least a game time bomb if not a walk-off Rangers maybe you should start cutting all of your pitchers by now before the end of the month so they're playoff eligible call me crazy I don't know no less we see the Diamond Backs continue their offensive heroic sadly any later because in the third we would see Jake McCarthy get on with a single then after what I thought was a very skeptical no uh no challenge in which the Mets challenged but they didn't win so they lose their challenge in this McCarthy rounds second base looks like he's out because of himself rounding they call him safe however and jock Pearson first pitch swinging later gets all that one and meatball AER there by L srino and that's a three nothing ball game jock Pearson with his 21st home run of the year who has torched the Mets no matter where he's been whether it's La whether it's in Anaheim for a short stin whether it is with that being in part of me uh why am I blinking so hard right now every NLS team not name the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres right so you have the Dodgers you have the Arizona diving backs you have the San Francisco Giants where he ched Tyler McGill especially all the time and he got all that one mind you this is after several Ino dealt with a hit by pitch a comebacker rather that hit him directly in the foot he would stay in the ball game but you could tell that sebie with his planting foot there with his Arsenal look didn't look overly comfortable and in the most metsing way possible literally I call this in my head sadly not that I wished it was just more of a reality Rangers won that ball game oh I apologize then so I must have just saw the Home Run and then I didn't see the conclusion of the game there between the Rangers and the white socks but to see Jack Pearson have that home run was far from surprising it was the writing on the wall so they're up three nothing in this one how would the Mets respond here they would respond the best way possible but it wouldn't be before Corbin Carroll gets all that one for his first of two massive home runs on the day Corbin Carroll took a page sadly out of the Francisco Andor Playbook which is hting two home runs including a grand slam over the past week Lor just did that over the past week and now we see here in Mr Corbin Carroll do that against the Mets to give them a 4 nothing lead the Dbacks and JD Martinez a one-time snake in the Arizona back organization rips a opposite field double his 22nd of the Season gave the Mets a 4 to1 lead that we saw there in the in the fifth inning and then that's where the Mets would tack on more JDM who is just shy of an opposite field home run which doesn't shock anybody because that is jdm2 always going Center opposite field we would see Francisco Alvarez with his second big hit in as many days after snapping his over 17 skid yesterday his first RBI since his walk-off home run against the Oriol a week plus ago drives in a run with a single yesterday oppos the field tonight he drives in a run with a single up the middle beautiful hitting by Alvi makes it a 4 to2 ball game and Harrison Bader who has been laboring big time throughout the past month of August gets all of that one for a two-run tater the biggest biter bomb yet and just like that the Mets have themselves a tied ball game in this one it is already 44 we're looking at more we're looking to secure the victory in this one Lindor gets on with a single That's All She Wrote though we would see haar Bran come in after just 4.2 Innings of work from Lee srino eight hits four earn runs one walk nine strikeouts for seev it's a simple as this he wasn't overly sharp tonight I'm going to give sebie a five out of 10 on the outing the nine strikeouts were nice and he didn't walk everyone in their mother just didn't have his best stuff today so that's why I'm not going to go beyond a five a four and a half five I think is fair there for sevy let me know how you guys feel in the comments down below but hoscar brand then comes in and works to clean in of work what happens then stoling Marte is The X Factor on the offensive end and man did I want to see the Mets win this game with Martz heroics he gets on with a leadoff single that we see there in the sixth inning this is after the Mets tie the ball game 44 he then steals his 14th bag of the year against his former Club there in the Dbacks catel and Starling used to both be on the diving backs yes that is correct sty Marte no less steals his 14th bag of the Year and that run is driven in after getting a third base thanks to pet Alonzo with a sack fly to left but it's all the base running by Sterling Marte who want first to second on the stolen base gets second and third there after an out I Believe by nmo and then Alonzo drives him in by a beautiful relay throw from the Diamondbacks but just a poor tag there by The Catcher in the Diamondbacks allows marte's hand to slide under they take a five to four lead I'm going absolutely bananas at this point because I'm thinking the Mets have themselves a series Victory it's so close I know it's just a one-run difference but you feel it you're feeling good you're feeling everything right because brazan works the squirrels inning Danny Young goes point point2 shudy Reed dererk Go's point2 shudy including a beautiful 98 mph strikeout to any the inning that we saw there in the seventh Phil maton however we see gives up that first run that we see and Edwin Diaz can't get out of his own mess there for the four out save by giving up the grand salami and Edwin's day started mind you I understood that Edwin came into a very tough situation it's never ideal to have a four out save situation to begin with but if you're going to throw a guy $100 million in 20 mil a I expect him to perform at a solid rate and for Edwin Diaz he came in this ball game ather there was already two outs mind you in this inning yes there was a runner on base but there was two outs what does he do he walks the first batter he sees and paven Smith why am I most pissed off about this entire bat this is paven Smith the number eight hitter here for the eff the Arizona Diamondbacks I know Smith isn't terrible again he's batting roughly 270 this year with an 800 Ops or so but still you're walking the lead off batter you see then to add insult to injury you walk Pomo to have Bases Loaded two outs all Edwin Diaz needed was one single out and he could not record it after first coming in this one we would see Corbin Carol AP arm me after recording the final out of the inning but as in before Corbin Carrol rips his 17 home round of the year a grand Slammy which ultimately gives Arizona Diamondbacks an 8 to5 Victory so my biggest takeaway for the Mets out this one is just more continuation of Bullpen killing the Mets and their season there's really no other way to look at this I cannot pinpoint the offense and say that they were horrendous they did what should ultimately win you a ball game in this one and against the Diamondbacks team to catch them slipping the way that the Mets did as well as he did in game one and then a rally back game two tonight has been amazing so to see them come out and lose this one with Edwin Diaz not only has me frustrated but I'm certainly thinking about Edwin Diaz and his future role not only for the remainder of the season but should he really labor like this you know we have massive question marks heading into 2025 and I hate to think that ahead but with the Mets potentially putting the first nail and it's hard for me not to at least think a little bit about when we eventually do get to the off season how the Mets will plan to approach this Bullpen for 2025 and beyond for Edwin we need to see this man be the nails that he has been in many outings this season but Edwin has also been a culprit to the long ball at a much higher rate than we have seen in versus a 2022 dominant season which honestly for the Mets right now has been that anomaly year Edwin has not sniffed a season to the magnitude of the pure dominance that was 2022 since then factors have certainly come into play ailments and suspensions lead the Regard in that front doesn't change the fact that Edwin Diaz a $100 million man has continuously blew outings for the Mets this was the sixth bloting save of the season for context folks if the Mets just had half of those blown saves not blown they would be a half game behind the Atlanta Braves right now or right tied there in the wild card and the Mets didn't blow half the save opportunities that they blown this season they would be securely at least in the third Wild Card their Bullpen what was their strongest suit in the first month or so of the season has since been their greatest demise and as we look back on The Season's end for the Mets should they not make playoffs we're going to look at outings like this and like many prior this year where the Mets just could not Rectify enough could not get enough consistency we on a night yesterday where they had nothing walks whatsoever everyone commanded the Zone beautifully no one walked anyone whatsoever forward a night later and these Mets pitchers could not prevent walking lead off batter it was going to come to bite them eventually in the case of not only Phil maton but Edwood Diaz that was the reality and it's 8 to5 loss yes the game tomorrow is 3:40 p.m. eastern time that is correct and yes for the Mets they certainly look to bounce back in security series Victory after another gut-wrenching embarrassing loss A defeat to the Arizona diving back so yes deserve all the credit in the world for the rally does not change the fact that this is a Mets team that can not be losing games in this fashion these are the games that lose team morale these are the type of blow off not blowout losses but Grand salami defeating losses that can really rear a team back if they don't have a strong mental fortitude on how to come together collectively as a group we have seen the Mets coming collectively as a group with JDM with Lindor this season can they do it again and can they get more outside of those guys especially in others in Brandon nibo more continuation from our key pieces one evaluating them and Jesse Winker and Harrison Bader that was tremendous tonight we need to see more of that among Pete Alonzo who we know he can be Jael in highways production Pete hitting with RS the scoring position is great we need to see a continuation of exactly that like what we saw with the sack fly today we just need to see this Mets team perform like a team that is not going to be out and rolling over yet they have not rolled over to this point and I firmly believe that until they are very much out of it completely where the writing's completely on the wall that they're not going to dig themselves out of a hole I still believe in this Mets ability to at least still make things interesting in the Wild Card race even if they find themselves on the outside looking in in the very end so everybody before we continue on with our live show as I got a lot more to say on not only answers um but this is what Le Severino um had to say you know thankfully his X-rays were negative that we saw with the hip eye pitch but a lot of pain he isn't going to lie that he said there with his foot um you know and uh he's 100% sure he will make his next start um Edwin Diaz said following his loss tonight and I quote just flush it when I was struggling early in the season I was coming from the injury I didn't pitch a whole year but now I know what I have to do to get better so I got to keep working and doing it better every single day and I'll be good I mean a very cliche answer from Edwin that we expect from him simply put the season is coming quickly to an end and we don't have time really to make any drastic adjustments here Edwin you need to be better you have gone so many amazing batters out throughout your career you can do it we expect you to do it just simply do it um Edwin did say my command wasn't good today I think it was going side to side today and pretty sure that was the thing today got to fix it and come back I wonder how early Edwin felt that considering if that was an early struggle for him I would have like the Mets not to try to power through with Edwin because yes you do want to power through with your $100 million man of a reliever that's a guy you should have a lot of faith in but you also need to balance the Faith from his previous success versus the current eye test of what you're seeing this season caros Mendoza who prides himself on that in-game field has swon to miss a lot this season when evaluating the Mets Bullpen has had some successes for sure has also had some failures and the case of the Mets bullin configuration tonight leave it somehow to a four out save opportunity with Edwin Diaz being the failure for not only Edwin Diaz but Carlos Mendoza and this Metropolitan Squad uh here's an update there on denelle nunz so that makes sense as to why he was not not utilized tonight and this is honestly some very unfortunate news that I'm going to pay in with our other segment as well Carl mza says danil Nunes is not recovering well from his relief appearance on Saturday he's being reassessed and is unknown if he will need another IL stin so for anyone wondering why did Nunes not Pitch tonight this is your answer yes this is a heartbreaking news to hear for Danelle Nunes who is in my opinion one of the best relief options the Mets have they just got him back from injury Danielle has barely pitched for the Mets since rur he's look great when he has pitched but now he might already need another I st because is not looking healthy yet again gut-wrenching news and this is exactly why you can expect the Mets to add of this Bullen but last comments here from Carl mooza that had a lot of Mets fans obviously a very important member of your Bullpen what's your concern level especially just given how late it's getting yeah I mean I'm not concerned you know he'll he'll he'll get through two outings obviously but uh I'm not concerned you know he'll get he'll get right back on the fire uh and he'll be ready to go he's been through it before and uh he'll get through it this time again mind you that is Carlos mza with a cliche answer making sure that he doesn't throw his star reliever under the bus however I think there is is some Fair um counter of frustration at least among Mets fans that are saying you know he's going to be back out there and he's going to be fine knowing the crucial reality of having you know around 30 games at most left this season and you're now four games out of a playoff spot and your star closer is single-handedly the reason why you're not at least a half game above if not a full game better than what you currently are that's the big problem here Mendy and meny knows that trust me if you talk to meny closed doors right now where it's out of the media eye he would be blunt about all this I'm sure everyone is this is just part of working with the media talking to them every single night but it is still concerning to see you know he'll get through it we know this but listen many we also just need to maybe hear some certainty where I understand you don't want to throw your guy under the bus here in Edwin but you could just say you know H get throw it but we all know we all know Edwin is better he expects himself to be better than this and we all expect him be better than this just a simple quote along those lines makes it more abundantly clear that yes this is not a good outing for Edwin we're all aware of this he needs be better and yes this may dictate how he utilize him going forward with the tightness of the Wild Card race this season but still in a manner that isn't throwing under the bus I think is fair so however you guys feel about those comments no matter how much you agree or disagree there with Carlos mooza that's completely fine by me just rapid fire let me hear him in the comments as always everybody but now folks let's get
