the 2024 25 Champions League season is going to be a different one a new one and I say that because the Champions League returns with a new format it may be confusing to begin with to understand what format is like but we here at sports today are here to explain how is it that the 2425 season of the champions league is going to play out we're doing that on the eve of the Champions League draw that is to play take place tomorrow and it's going to be a draw that is also going to be unique in more than one way because you're going to be having the involvement of a special software that will decide which team plays which opponent and not just that it will also be determining whether or not uh that particular game will be played home or away so be with us as we help you understand the new format of the Champions League plenty of changes that it has gone through the first big change of course being the one that instead of 32 teams you're looking at 30 t6s there won't also be any groups that will get formed as was earlier the stage there won't be anything called the group stage what instead will be the case will be a 36 Team league phase so there will be just as you have in every League you will have a table that get formed and bases that table where teams finish after the first round of fixtures that will determine as to what the future of the concerned Club will be be with me as I help you understand how exactly is it that things are going to unfold but a couple of other things that you must know about this new format of the Champions League that is the teams will be placed in four parts according to their seeding so 36 teams as I said there will be nine teams in each pot in total you have four pots so 36 teams and each team will face off two teams from each Port so you do get to play two teams from the PT that you placed in but you also play two two teams from the three other ports so every team is to begin with a short of eight matches so two matches from the teams in the same pot that you're in as well as two teams from the other three pots that's the first stage so every Club is guaranteed eight matches to begin with how is it that things then play out after the first eight matches let me help you understand that so bases the standings that will be there on the table so you will get points awarded for all those eight matches just like it is the case in uh League football and bases that after eight matches the top eight teams get straight qualification into the round of 16 so the top eight teams straight away head into the round of 16 as far as now you'll be wondering where do you get the other eight teams from the other eight teams you will get from the teams locked between the 9th to the 24th position so those teams will then be playing in the usual Home and Away format and bases that you will get the other eight teams so eight teams directly after the first eight matches that they play and the top eight teams from from the league table the other eight you get from teams plays eight from eight 9th to 24th but what happens you'll be wondering or the next question on your mind will be what about the teams that lose in this particular stage when they're they're playing home and away well those eight teams that will end up losing in this particular ular stage well they will then be playing in the UFA Europa League as earlier you used to see the teams after the first round that would finish third then uh get featured in the Europa League this time around uh it will be the teams that will be losing in the 9th to the 24th position that they'll be logged in after the face off that they will have across two legs the teams losing will then go into the UFA Europa League and just as you used to have in the pre previous format as well teams that would finish at the bottom of every group will get disqualified and nothing for them same will be the case for teams that will be finishing between 25th and 36th so those teams will get no more games so eight games after which if you're finishing between or 25th or 24th or lower than that then there is nothing left for you as far as Europe is concerned and after that nothing changes after team reaches the round of 16 the usual Home and Away format will continue after which you will have the quarterfinals the semi-final and eventually the final as well so that's the new format of the Champions League let me know your thoughts in the comment SE section whether you like this format or not and for everything that we do here at sports day if you like what we do do give us a thumbs up and do subscribe to the sports today Channel
