[Music] what's the good word J it's your boy dkb here so quick thoughts because the new year just released the regular season depth chart two you know uh two moves that I wanted to really chat about here was that it looks like Xavier Gibson lost his starting slot receiver role somehow we have our starting Trio receivers being gett Wilson Mike Williams and Allan Lazard with uh Xavier Gibson backing up Allan in his slot presumably and Malachi Corley backing up uh Mike Williams and the piece that really stands out to me is that you know you take a look at the training camp unofficial depth chart while Alan Lazard had himself a pretty strong off season I wouldn't say it was enough to necessarily unseat Xavier Gibson right so I don't know if this is a you know maybe an Aaron Rogers call he likes what he saw maybe more than the coaching staff or something or if there's a a plan in place here right one of the pieces that I can say for why this makes sense is that while Alan Lazard has never been great as a boundary receiver whether that's him being a first string second string guy uh whatever you want to call it he does have some ability as a big slot uh and so this kind of kind reminds me of a bit of the throwback Chicago Bears monsters a Midway type situation granted all their guys were you know 65 Plus at the time uh but I can understand maybe the the the reasoning for this especially when you think about our lack of Red Zone ability that Trio potentially offers your best opportunity to go out there and score consistently inside of the 20 um and opens up a lot more of what you can do right Xavier Gibson being like 5 sish whatnot uh even with Aaron just pinpoint accuracy you want to try to make things as easy as possible but I wonder how often he can hold on to that role and if this is more so kind of a uh a co- opportunity for both guys Xavier Gibson will be able to flash uh and show his change up speed When Alan Lazard comes off the field and when Alan Lazard is on the field he can go out there and get some of those 50/50 balls create a little bit more leverage opportunities than you may be able to get out of Xavier Gibson but I definitely think that need watching and then from Malachi corley's perspective uh two different type of players with uh him and Mike Williams right even for a tall guy Mike Williams was really impressive as a route Runner the back shorter throws is obviously what you key in on with him uh and of course the 50-50 jump balls that really are going to be 802s with Malachi Corley you really with him being as raw as he is you don't expect a ton of that same ability but he does bring the physical presence um so I'm curious how how this is going to pan out I wasn't really expecting a ton of changes when anything here rolled out and the rest of the the depth chart is pretty staus quo um but the wide receiver room is going to be the most interesting piece early right um the other other thing I will potentially call out is that they have Olu strictly tied in uh as the left tackle where you can see for example guys like Xavier Newman um and Chaz satet are are backing up multiple spots so this does lean uh Credence towards the the theory or the thought process that uh Olu fashanu will exclusively be working at left tackle they don't plan on trying to uh you know re-energize the idea of avt being trained in multiple spots although that was due to injury and emergency situations so we'll see how that pans out let me know what you guys think th I'll catch you again peace
