hello my name is Graham I'm the tour guide for The Glen Davis oil sh Works ruins just want to give a little bit of a video on the Glend Davis Lookout at the back of the ruins um because it's quite an interesting area and has been renovated in the co area era by um the national parks and they've done a fantastic job putting in uh steps as well as bracing the buildings as we get to the top of the the uh Lookout you actually look over the uh ruins towards the Western end of the capity valley and walking a little bit further you get to see different rock formations where erosion has occurred over time walking a little bit further you starts doing some of the ruins at the top of the lookout the first two buildings being the bathroom and the lamp room the entrance to the bathroom looks quite uh grand um although the the ruins don't give that impression but obviously it was very Grand by the uh entrance Door there looking around at the bathroom area you can see some of the structure there but a lot of it is just Rubble with no indic a of what it would be at the back of the bathrooms is a shoot of some sort um maybe water runoff perhaps into a drainage area or maybe heated water um but very interesting what it could have been then as you walk a little bit further closer to the admin ministration building and the lamp room where the miners got ready for work before they went into the mine entrance and a little bit further on you actually see the one of the mine entrances there being braced by national parks the second mine entrance has also been bra by national parks but if you look at the roofing you can see how they've tried to um basically keep the roofing up when they actually were mining a little bit further past the mines you actually come to the mechanical engineers Workshop which and you see the incredible amount of bracing that uh National Parks have done on this building then as you look back towards the mechanical uh Engineers Workshop uh from the uh vehicle inspection pit you get an idea of the sense of structure at the back of the um bathrooms there is quite a considerable amount of cable being left over just sort of like there round up walking a little bit further you walk towards the mine vent building and as you get inside you can actually see that the actual vent been sealed off uh and is a bat area for the Eastern Wing bat and the uh the Horseshoe B Eastern horseshoe bat and this is a side National Parks have put up giving it that that information of how they're endangered uh since we've been clearing a lot of the land so I hope you found this little bit of a uh tour useful um particularly if you have been to the valley but weren't able to have the time to to see the um Lookout or perhaps didn't feel like you're energetic enough to climb the 100 steps but um but has been of interest and um provides a little bit more information for you about the wonderful cap Valley attractions thank you bye [Music]
