hey everyone today we need to talk about something that has almost become a routine spectacle Reddit crashing if you're a regular redditor you probably experienced or heard about the major outage on August 28th so what exactly happened all right let's dive in around 400 p.m. eastern time Reddit users started noticing something was wrong error messages like we have encountered an error and we were unable to load the content started popping up left and right it wasn't just a few people though thousands of error reports flooded monitoring sites showing just how widespread this issue was Reddit was quick to respond they acknowledged the problem on their status page and mentioned they were investigating what they called degraded performance within an hour Reddit announced that they had implemented a fix and were actively monitoring the situation it seems like they got it under control pretty quickly but this wasn't their first rodeo with technical problems in fact in the past year alone Reddit has faced two major outages one in August 2022 and another in March 2023 this raises some concerns about the platform's stability especially for a site with such a massive user base now let's talk numbers for a moment Reddit went public in March 2023 raising a whopping $519 million despite a 21% increase in Revenue bringing the total to $84 million the company still reported a net loss of $9.8 million however this loss was actually small smaller than the previous year so there's a silver lining the second quarter of 2023 brought some good news for Reddit they saw a 51% increase in daily active users hitting 91.2 million Revenue also jumped by 54% reaching $ 281.50 like any Tech Giant it has its fair share of challenges with a large user base and frequent growth technical issues might be something we have to deal with from time to time if you were affected by this outage let me know in the comments below share your experience and if you found this video helpful don't forget to like share and subscribe for more updates on your favorite platforms catch you in the next video
