another five-star recruit for the Texas Longhorns that's what we're talking about in this video Just moment ago five star safety Jonah Williams the number one safety in America announced his for Texas fans jump on board hit subscribe for me please all right let's bring on Steve wilf now you heard it Jonah Williams just committed to Texas now Steve I've had you on the show a lot it didn't always feel like it was going to go this way at times Oregon was trending A&M was trending LSU had their moment but in the end it's Texas how did the horns win this recruitment rival Oklahoma too but it was a visit to Texas at the end of July that saw the Longhorns catapult from sleeper as Jonah Williams called him to the one to beat Steve sarkeesian and Company get it done he announces his to the Longhorns earlier this evening and this is a massive pickup for Texas their first top five commitment in the state in the 2025 cycle they're pushing for a top 10 class and they've been pushing for a five-star August they already landed khik locket receiver from saxi Texas now they have Jonah Williams they want to finish the month with Jamie French and they're still pushing hard for Michael Terry the number one athlete in the country yeah so Jonah Williams starts his career career ranked by on three as a linebacker and the rest of the industry ranked him as a linebacker now he's the safety not just any safety he's the number one safety in America on the field Steve what role will he have at Texas well when you see someone that's 6 foot three and a half 206 pounds Josh normally you think hey this guy's going to continue growing and he's going to blossom into a linebacker and certainly has the trades to do that but he is so unique he is so versatile he is a mismatch eraser on the back end of the defense at several positions he could play safety he could play Rover he can cover those tight ends he can cover backs he can be physical he can come up and play in the box and strike on Friday nights he does everything Josh at receiver 20 catches 474 yards eight touchdowns that's nearly a score every two catches 58 tackles four interceptions three pick sixes of two fumble recoveries one was a scoop and score of course it was a scoop and score Josh he's a threat to score anytime time he touches the football including special teams where he had two kickoff returns for scores two more punt returns for scores he's an instant impact player for Texas this was uh major for them to rally and land him here keep him away from some of their SEC Rivals other programs trying to compete for a national championship Texas flexed its muscles here had a great visit in July man what what was it that got it done uh just getting back around the staff uh getting around coach Blake Gideon getting around coach Steve sarkeesian seeing him practice get around the players he talked about their NFL draft success he's got family in Austin so just getting back over there he felt at home he ended up canceling his LSU visit right after that now he's in the fold for Texas now there's some speculation that Williams is going to be an early en rol Le if that happens he's going to foro his senior year of baseball so when he was in Nashville he told us how this was a baseball and a football decision but kind of looks like he's p punting on baseball was this more of a football decision for Jonah Williams well I don't know if he's punting on baseball or not he's planning on doing both in college and Coach slash was big and helping recruit to Texas it was a relationship that carried over from Texas A&M to Texas but I do think he is a football player first and foremost that also thrives at baseball so Texas is getting a young man that's coming to Austin ready to put on the burnt orange and help them continue to compete for national championships on the grid iron then in the spring he'll play a little baseball got that mid90s fastball with that left arm that's pretty good uh but he is a football player first and foremost that's why he chose Texas their track record of Player Development as of late where this program stands and he's excited to help keep it rolling yeah we love a two sport athlete here at on three now Steve you hit on it at the top of the video you said there could be more five stars later this month Jamie French on August 30th just about 6 days from now he's going to make his decision what do you think the chances are that Texas can land French well I like my on3 RPM in favor of Texas there's been times where maybe Miami and LSU have given me some things
