Directors Gareth Edwards and Takashi Yamazaki

[Music] we both did visual effects right so um I feel like I'm with my fellow Geeks like people who understand me and my sci-fi sensibility [Music] so a I think it's really exciting the fact that director can battle disciplines with being VFX supervisor I actually have a really full understanding of how VFX works and I'm I'm sure in the case of Gareth it it changes how you approach a film and it enables you to know what's possible and what you can achieve so I think you know that's going to be the the ER of director svfx something you know because uh it really empowers the Creative Vision of what you can put on the screen I mean for the longest time people would come up into directing through writing or being an actor or maybe cinematograph and then suddenly like in our ERA this New Path was available called visual effects and to me it's the Ultimate Weapon or tool to make you can do anything you want in a computer right so it's like the best thing in the world in terms of making a film I think it's become more and more common I hope I think I think one of the things that happens when you make a film is the director's job is to decide what do we shoot and what do we do with visual effects and post production and I think having that experience I hope you become more accurate with that divide and and and and you can spend the money more wisely you know and keep it pocket it for yourself so you can have a nice car maybe [Music] swim I think more so than the pressure of taking on a Godzilla film I was just really happy to be able to do anything with Godzilla because it's been such a huge part of my own film making history as well so making sure that I can I consider Godzilla our our highest paid Talent on on this set so making sure whatever the film ends up becoming and how our set is dressed and the overall production making sure it's not an embarrassment that Godzilla wouldn't want to talk about it if you were it was interviewed right to make sure it's a great production oh but I have to give Gareth credit for making Godzilla what it is today and restoring it to to its current position
