then DSU quarterback cam Miller getting ready for uh his his senior season with the with the bison and time flies you go back to that spring season of 21 just tell uh how much you've changed and how much the program in the world has changed since then yeah it's honestly crazy to think that this is my fourth year playing for the Bison um I think I've played in I don't know over 30 games and it just doesn't even seem real and I I think over the last few months I've had time to kind of you know realize that that it's coming to an end and I got you know one or two more seasons left and I got to make them count at at what point do you maybe say you know if you go sophomore to Junior I guess at what point do you kind of go you kind of have a little reflection and go wow where' the time go I think usually after the season a few weeks after the season you realize that um that that's just you know one season that that's gone and you can't get back no matter how well you did um and just trying to learn from your mistakes yeah and I it's true you you go through the routine you're kind of living in the moment and that type of thing it's yeah it's usually when you have time to sit down and reflect and usually you know when you're you're involved in a program like this that that probably takes a little time it does for sure and I like to remove myself from Fargo a little bit to uh to kind of reflect and um really truly appreciate the importance of this program and what it means to me and um just understanding that I would love to leave this place better than I found it and um realizing that there's a lot of special people here that have impacted me greatly I was talking with Cole pton and I know probably one of the highlights of the summer was you know having a little time with Easton stick and guy that had a lot of success here I kind of see maybe some things that he did in you um obviously it's not the first time but what are what what are things maybe it's kind of so much more off the field than it is technique and and and on the field things it's a lot of mental preparation is what I had learned from him when he had came back and just understanding the importance of leadership in this program and how to have guys rally behind you and how to have people bought into the program especially young guys um and I mean we honestly didn't talk a lot of football it was mostly just leadership stuff and um how to move this program forward what did you take how last year ended I mean you you lose to a rival uh a championship um does it bring a lot of motivation was that kind of part of the reflection of the Season too I think for a lot of guys it kind of pisses them off but they're not going to say that um I feel like if you're a competitor that stuff eats at you every day and it's it's definitely Aid at me and it's made me motivated to get better and to improve and to push these guys as far as we can go talk about your relationship with Cole pton as as it's developed over the years you know you you're both in that quarterback room there's times where they put both you on the field it's uh it's a good relationship I'm sure I'm not sure there's a player on the team that I respect more than Cole Payton um when you talk about Great Character and a kid that truly bleeds green and gold Cole Payton's the first person that I think of and um him and I are side by side each and every day and I wouldn't be where I'm at if it wasn't for Cole I know uh talking with Tyler R about in in coach an as well is talking about you know you talked about maybe being a leader but maybe seeing things on the field that almost acting like an assistant coach as a coordinator on the field I'm sure that's something that they're that they've talked about with you about I think I think playing for the last three years um the coaches have a lot of faith in me to make checks at the line of scrimmage if I see something they know that I've played in games and I've seen every look that I could possibly see um so they feel confident in my ability to get to the best formation the best play call that we possibly can uh wide receiver wise there's a lot of depth in that room maybe more so than there's been the the previous two I was just talking over there and I said I think since I've been here I know Christian Watson was here two years ago and he was a freak talent but since I've been here I think this is the deepest wide receiver room that I've had since I've been here and it's very exciting well I think there's there's some guys that are possession guys that can handle the football and there there might be you know that's maybe the one thing that hasn't been there since Christian's gone is a deep threat and I think we have a lot of those guys I think you saw in the national championship game when Eli green caught that deep post you have Zach matthysse Jake Lippy Raja um brillan Henderson Bryce lances came on Tyler terhark we have a lot of guys who haven't had a lot of game experience but they're ready to make big plays so now you get to this point here you're three weeks away from playing at first game Eastern Washington Neutral site as well um what are what are the things you looking at you know installation of some more plays I mean what kind of take us take us down that road usually after the first five to seven practices of fall camp we start working into what we like we're kind of sharpening our craft and knowing what works best what we're going to bring in our bag for the season and um I think just continuing to watch more tape on Eastern Washington in the first few games that we're going to have um it's going to be difficult now that their defensive coordinator is gone um so we're going to have to find different ways to uh prepare for them playing in an NFL stadium going to be a different environment uh what are you looking forward the most to uh to that game I think just getting back out there with the guys it's been it's been so long and like I said earlier we have a sour taste in our mouths and um guys are chopping out the bit to get back out there always great to visit with you Cam best of luck thank you so
